10 chips 2 button mushrooms and a 1/4 tomato garnished the worst questionable ribeye steak I have ever been served. The waitress sore the dilemma as she took my plate and said it happens sometimes and walked away, she obviously didn't care.

We heard the Sunday dinners here were very good (bookable in advance, only), so we booked ahead. We received an email requesting that we confirm our choice of meat, we chose beef, and turned up just ahead of our reservation time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly barman (possibly Landlord) who showed us to our table. The pub was all decked out for the England football, and everyone was very nice. There isn't much to it. It's two rooms and a bar, but I don't see that as a negative. My wife chatted to the landlady, and it appears to be a family business, with all the family living on site. Our food arrived and there was a lot of it, for £11.95 each we were very surprised. The drinks were very reasonably priced, too. Once we'd eaten, we both waddled out the door very happy. We will definitely be back at some point. It's a great find and we thoroughly recommend it.

What a lovely warm welcome from a lovely village pub. 3 of us were on a drive today & saw this pub ( dad thought he may have been here before but not for many years). Had lovely lunch stake baguettes & a cheese sandwich in our order came with skinny chips. Couldn’t fault anything. Would recommend.

Christ… what on earth was that? We’ve been visiting a friend near the village and decided to stop off in the chequers. The first red flag was when we were told to avoid drinking their Calsburg?! Dirty glasses, food was oily & off putting, the environment was also off putting. It’s a shame they put no pride in to their inside or outside, it has the potential to be really nice. It’s cheap because everything is low quality & done poorly. Having ‘chequers belly’ is a phase used which makes me wonder how sanitary things are in the food making area. To top it off, I'm certain they are serving underage guests, no more than 16 I would say.

Ridiculous. Went in for a quiet drink. Sat in the empty lounge. Was warned by the landlady that a crowd came in later so moved to the almost empty public bar. The crowd came in. About 30 if them and filled the lounge. All young people with no masks or social distancing. Pubs have only got themselves to blame for getting shut down during lockdown. This pub should be shut permanently.

Covid secure! Loverly village pub with loads of charm, good selection of beers, unbelievable pub food with frightening portion control (none!). Sunday meals need to be pre booked but all freshly made to order. A unique pub which you will revisit without a doubt Highly recommended.

I’m so happy I found Chequers reviews on Google. In the 70’s my Cousin Fred Cheshire used to be the publican with his wife Linda. Living in Canada, things are different here. Dogs aren’t allowed, the pub doesn’t close to send the spouses home for supper and gives the pub a chance to clean up before opening again for the evening. Don’t know if pubs still do that? I got totally beat by a guy who threw featherlight darts with his mouth, you read right, mouth. Found out I can’t pull a draught to save my life, but everyone loved my 1-1/2 oz shots, (except Fred). Saw a dog that only drank Guinness. We had a lot of fun here, great people, good times. Lost contact with Fred, if anyone who knew him, maybe you help me find him.

I’d probably give a 3.5 star review, but I’ve decided to round up to 4. The service and atmosphere in here is pleasant and good. Clean tables and pretty decor. Selection of food is also very good, although our first two choices were sold out so we had to settle for something else. Great that they offer beef sausage and beef bacon. Usually find that halal establishments skimp and do turkey bacon and chicken sausage which is a very sad alternative. All dishes presented very well. Most impressed by the loaded toast, probably the most enjoyable meal we ordered and best value for money. The cheesy split burgers and beef tagine were fine, but quite pricey for what they were. I feel that the meat actually could have benefitted from having a bit more fat content, since the meat in both was quite tough. Coffees and cakes were much more enjoyable, though still pricey. I’d say the caramel(?) milk cake was the highlight. Bubble tea was more ice than tea. Would have to ask for less ice next time. We probably would visit again but would be a bit more careful about what we order.

Lovely place HOWEVER food is not good! We were there as a group of 11 people- adults and kids, and two of us that had ordered the same pizza, vomited on the way back home that evening. Definitely got poisoned. My ‘chicken supreme’ was so blank and tasteless with old mash that just got heated up. The bartender that served us the food as we were sitting on the bar, got the cash and didn’t give the receipt. Such a shame- Not recommended

Was our first time trying this place tonight. Passing through Wolverton and spotted it. We’ve tried all the other kebab takeaways in the areas. This will be our kebab takeaway from now on. We had 1 large chicken shish mixed with doner. Absolutely no chewy or hard bits in the doner meat which is a real put off for me. The chicken was cooked over charcoal in view of customers and tasted so fresh and authentic as well as succulent. Even the chips were crispy and well cooked. Very reasonably priced as well. 1 large mixed chicken shish and doner, 1 large chicken shish both came with a good helping of savoury rice and salad, chicken fillet burger and large chips. All for £29. We think we have found our go to kebab house.
