We are so delighted that this restaurant exists. The staff are dedicated, friendly and enjoy a banter and a laugh [Shona]. The food is excellent and imaginative. We like particularly that the menu isn't extensive, preferring to have fewer choices but knowing that each choice will be thoughtfully put together and well-cooked. Wonderful. And not overly expensive either.

Such a lovely meal at Faisal’s restaurant. Everything freshly cooked and delicious. Shona at front of house was so friendly and welcoming and obviously enjoys what she does . There was no rush to get the table back and we could really relax . Throughly enjoyed our night and would highly recommend x

Once again Faisal and his team served us with brilliant meals, the food was of outstanding quality and individuality cooked to our liking. The Chefs Eye continues to be our favourite Largs restaurant where the staff appear to have only one aim....to please their customers by serving high quality, great value meals.

First time open since lockdown restrictions and we booked right away. We really missed the fabulous food and excellent staff. Can't wait to go back. Superb.

Small, intimate restaurant, seats about 24 people. Everything is cooked to order and the service is excellent with nothing to much bother for the front of house staff. Very well priced for the quality and quantity of the food. definitely will go back again.

Visited last week and really enjoyed out visit. All food was freshly made to order and nothing was too much trouble. First visit for us and they change the menu regularly. They are very keen to hear your feedback whether it be positive or negative. All great for us.

The food was good, I had the lamb which was tasty, however I wouldn’t rave about it as the vegetables were cold. My girlfriend didn’t complain which was a surprise for me as she hates cold food. It wouldn’t put me off going back though as I had a conversation with the chef after the meal and he knew that things were not 100% correct. I have to praise Shona, front of house who was exceptional. She went out of her way to please everyone especially suggesting things for one of the young ones in our company.

Good food, Good Service, and Great Prices well worth a visit. Good choice of beverages at a reasonable price and a good wine list. Would recommend anything on the menu.

We spent a lovely evening here, with a party of 14 people. The food, wine and service were very good. Everyone commented on the relaxed ambience and everything seemed to flow effortlessly. The team are friendly and welcoming, there when you need anything without being over fussy or obtrusive. Food was tasty and good to look at and various dietary requirements catered for.

Once in a while you come across a dining experience that excels. This was one such evening :-) Thank you Faisel & Shona :-) I would extol the quality of the King Prawns, also the Mackerel as your starters, equally I would sing the delights of our steak or pork main courses ..... indeed I could delight in your trio of desserts but each of those praises might distract your future diners from trying your other offerings on your menu! We went to celebrate my husbands birthday and so glad we did!The restaurant itself is small but not in a claustrophobic way, its intimate, relaxed and relaxing.The menu changes regularly, we both chose the goats cheese tartlet with red onion marmalade to start. It was out of this world! The pastry was.melt in the mouth, the filling fantastic but the marmalade....wow!Hubby had the pork schnitzel, i opted for the steak. I am surprised to read a recent reviewer say their steak was dry and they thought it was from a freezer......did we eatat the same place???? I like my steak well done, no sign of pink. It was cooked exactly as i like it, a sign of a good chef is to keep a well done steak moist and it certainly was, tender too. I had the peppercorn sauce on the side. Both mains came with baby potatoes and mixed veg. I would definitely recommend the steak but as iwas leaving i spotted the curry.....next time im ordering that if its still on the menu!Everything was cooked to our liking eg im not keen on thyme, the steak was advertised as cooked in garlic and thyme butter, minewas done with just garlic.We were both full so no desserts plus a long drive back to glasgow was ahead so weleft after the mains.Service was first class, shona is very p!easant, friendly and obviously loves being with the customers.We are booked to go back in october. Will definitely get desserts then!!

Great unhurried evening spent here. Food was fantastic and fresh, we had the cheese and onion tartlet along with the prawns as starters then both had the Balmoral chicken finished off with the trio of desserts and the ice cream with crumble and chocolate sauce, bottle of sauvignon blanc and a vodka and coke to finish. Fantastic value at £72. Lovely host in really friendly and welcoming restaurant. Nice touch with a taster of the Thai broth. Highly recommended.

We went here because of the great reviews and the statements from their website. Lovely décor inside and a friendly waitress who provided good service but unfortunately the food was a real disappointment for us. In my opinion my king prawns and my wife's steak had been defrosted and relatively tasteless. I had the beef curry recommended to me but it was nothing special either. Good choice of wines available.To be fair to the restaurant, they reduced our bill when they knew we weren't overly impressed. A great shame as we go to Largs often but very unlikely to return

A great meal out with friends. Food was excellent and very well presented. The service was very good and we were not rushed at all - arrived at 6:30 and left at ten. We shall return for sure even though it’s a bit of s trek for me to get there - well worth it.

We was there last Saturday as a birthday treat to me ,never been before and was going on a recommendation from someone she works with.

Nous avons passé une agréable soirée et surtout nous avons très bien mangé ! Les portions sont généreuses donc nous n’avions plus de place pour le dessert mais il paraissait à tomber ...

Thanks to all the Chef's Eye team. We had a booking for 20 for a 60th birthday dinner so had exclusive use of this fabulous little restaurant in town. The menu was delightful and staff were very accommodating regarding drinks options and the fact that we wanted to take our own cake. The atmosphere was great, service excellent and unobtrusive, no loud background music. Feedback from all our guests was so positive and we'll definitely be back. Thanks again.

We visited the restaurant last night and from the minute we stepped in the experience was fantastic. Service was exceptional, food delicious and a real hidden gem.

Wonderful small restaurant just 100 yards up the road from Nardini's. Limited menu, but everything is choice, fresh, in season, and prepared with expertise. The chef, Faisal, knows what he's doing, and does it beautifully. Service was also attentive and personalized-- our party of four felt very well accommodated. We all had different dishes: starters included the prawn bruschetta and the onion tartlet, both delicious and just right portions; mains included chicken satay, ox cheeks, lamb's liver, and baked hake-- we each thoroughly enjoyed our meals, with entrees cooked to perfection and marvelous flavors. Shared desserts included sticky toffee pudding and ice cream with oat crumbles-- the ice cream tasted house-made, fresh and light.

We were headed for a show at Barrfields Theatre so on booking the staff allowed us to order in advance to maximise our time at the table. We had a delicious complementary amouse bouche followed by the hake, which my husband enjoyed and the liver and bacon for me which was really yummy. We both had the pear and apple crumble with custard which was a joy. We got to the Theatre on time feeling full and happy.

Visited this tiny restaurant with family (4) and had a lovely evening. There was a relaxed ambiance and food and services were excellent. Everything is made fresh for you so if you're into fast food this is not the place for you. However, we really enjoyed our leisurely dinner which allowed us to have a good catchup. Music was not intrusive, which was a pleasant change from most restaurants. A great evening, thanks.

Came here on Friday for the first time and the food and service was excellent, shona our waitress was so attentive and lovely, the presentation and taste of the food was amazing!! The atmosphere was so relaxed and there was no rush!! The staff were also in on the surprise 30th birthday party I was about to receive after the meal lol all in all, an amazing experience and defo worth a visit, will be back again soon!! X

Do yourself a favour and visit the Chef's Eye for the pleasure of excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. It is indeed the best place to eat in Largs. We attended last night to celebrate our son's birthday and were warmly welcomed by Shona who looked after us all evening. The pace of service was perfect and we felt no pressure to vacate the table when we had finished our meal.

We have visited twice now, the last time with a group of twenty friends and both times the food has been incredible and the atmosphere is wonderful. I have recommended it to all of our friends and family and we are looking forward to our next visit.

I had dinner with my girlfriends, and we absolutely loved everything about the place. From the warm welcome, the service, to the scrumptious meal, everything is freshly prepared. I loved the idea of serving amuse - bouche and a delectable dessert. Will be back definitely!

Attended The Chef's eye for the first time - don't know why it took me so long!!!! The ethos was warm, welcoming and friendly. Having e-mailed for a special birthday request for my husband, Shona greeted us with a complimentary glass of Prosecco to celebrate. The menu was excellent with a good selection of dishes to suit everyone's taste. Shona was very attentive to all clients - very professional attitude and excellent service. Faisal, chef and proprietor, created a mini, chocolate birthday cake for my husband which was a lovely touch to end our meal. Thank you.

My husband took me to The Chefs Eye for my birthday. We had a lovely relaxing evening with amazing food and friendly helpful staff.( I have already book for another night out. )

Yet again a warm welcome served up with some great home cooked dishes that you will find hard to better in Largs, reasonably priced, and presented by the lovely Shona at front of house. We will definitely keep coming back, if you've not tried the chefs eye yet, get yourself along and try them out, very cosy with a great ambience, and your not rushed as they don't turn tables so it's yours all evening.

Had a friend visiting and we had business to discuss. Needed somewhere to eat and i remembered the Chef's Eye. Always meant to try it. I was surprised and lucky i could get a table at short notice.

I have passed The Chefs Eye many times and thought we should try it. Well we did and it certainly did not disappoint. Four us had four different mains and each dish was exceptional. I like my food spicy so the chef ‍ tweaked my main to accommodate my request. Even as I write this review my mouth is still watering thinking about it! It was delicious. My husband said his steak was cooked to perfection and the best he has ever had. Our friends loved their choices too. Shona front of house was very helpful and knew the menu inside out. The atmosphere and decor added to the night. We all loved that there was no rush for us to eat and leave. This is the type of restaurant Largs.

Visited for the first time last night. It is difficult to capture in words the high quality of the experience, the food, the service and the ambience, despite it being a quiet evening.

I moved up to largs in November of 2017 and have always been intrigued by this restaurant when passing.only open at certain times and days and straight away gave me the impression that this establishment was about than just making money. It's ran with love. We visited for the first time tonight and it lived up to every expectation. The food and the service was top notch! First class service and first class food. Will definitely be frequenting the chefs eye in the future!

Went out for a birthday dinner tonight. Hadn’t heard of any reviews before but thought would give it a try. Must say I 100% recommend this wee place. Food was a 10/10 & service was absolutely spot on! Very polite & nothing was too much for them. Will definitely be back again.

Have been to this restaurant a number of times and can not recommend highly enough. It’s not fast food, it’s beautiful food. Can’t fault anything about this gem of a restaurant. Had booked a table for the 15th of August but unfortunately the restaurant was closed for holidays ( problems with booking agents new computer system). I got an email from Faisal ( the owner ) to explain this and so I rebooked for the night they reopened ( 29th)

A lovely cosy restaurant tucked away in Nelson St, great food, superb service and very welcoming. A must try for those that have not been yet.

Went with a group of friends, 13 of us, so we had the restaurant to ourselves. Very attentive service, nothing too much bother. Great food reasonably priced, as was the selection of wines and beers. Food beautifully presented and all cooked to order so not a fast service but well worth the wait.

Hidden up from Nardinis is this discreet restaurant, with great flavours, combinations and service, everything is cooked to order! Worth the wait for the special tonight, it was amazing! Will be back again and trust me this restaurant should get an award soon. Tonight was surprisingly quiet and with this type of food it should have queues coming out of the door, Why go to elsewhere when this is here! Well done!

We'd wanted to go somewhere a bit more special for one meal while we were away, and this was it: we didn't have any bad food in Largs, but this was the memorably great meal. Lovely, welcoming service, great food that's something different, and very reasonable prices given the quality. Nicely laid out inside, tables not on top of one another, music at a sensible volume, relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

I was only in Largs for one night with my girlfriend and family but the meal at the Chef's Eye was memorable for all the right reasons. The host was warm, welcoming and went out of his way to make sure we had the best possible experience. Regarding the food, the ox cheek in particular was tender and full of flavour, although all the meals were fresh, locally sourced and delicious. A special thanks is extended to the staff who stayed for a hour after the restaurant was meant to have closed as we were so busy enjoying ourselves we forgot the time! 10/10 would recommend

This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away up a side street. The chef owner Faisal is obviously passionate about food and puts his heart and soul into creating delicious food for his customers. My husband and I were impressed with the menu choices and decided to go for two courses at first. While waiting for our starter Faial brought us a little cup of delicious lentil soup to try, which was so tasty I had another when it was offered! All the food is freshly made using the local ingredients wherever possible and this was reflected in the dishes we had. My husband had salmon and I had balmoral chicken which we both enjoyed very much. My husband does not like too much garlic and requested just a hint, which was delivered to perfection. A small but well thought out drinks menu including real ales was also very good. My husband wentfor a pudding and thoroughly recommends the bread pudding and the amazing custard. Everything about the Chefs eye was excellent including the toilets. Well done Faisal and team

We are currently in process of moving to sunny Largs. Found this restaurant by chance. Beautiful, immaculate and relaxed. Food was wonderful too. Really nice for a romantic meal. Looking forward to becoming a regular.

I am a nightmare to feed with all my dislikes. I was more than satisfied with a lovely, freshly cooked meal accommodating all my awkwardness. Excellent. They really went the extra mile.

It's hard to find a restaurant that's not part of a chain or is not formulaic in it's approach.

My experience at the Chef’s eye was not one which I will repeat. Our starters were tasty but the main course was very poor. A ready meal from the supermarket could not have been poorer. I took the apple crumble as dessert , it was OK but did not resemble the photo shown. As we were the only diners in the restaurant there was no excuse for standards to be slipping.

The starters were fairly good but the main corses were dissapointing. Curry was watery and certainly nothing special. The desserts were tolerable.

I hosted 28 friends & family at the venue, both the Chef (Faisal) and Front of House (Shona), were very accommodating. I met them a number of times in the weeks running up to the Party and they were able to provide advice & support regarding liaison with guests, creation of a bespoke menu, catering for specific dietary needs, playlists, party balloons, cake and seating arrangements. On the night of the event all the guests were impressed with the venue and throughly enjoyed their meals. A great night was had by all & we look forward to visiting the Chefs Eye again.
