Best Indian restaurant I've been to in Ayrshire. Great food, great service.

Popped into Motherland Spice after a rehearsal at Studio 5 and we're really glad we did. The food was excellent and the service levels were evert bit as good. First time I've been to this restaurant and glad we did. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you like a good tasty curry. Brilliant 👏

Went here for my girlfriends birthday while on holiday. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and were really nice to the kids, making them feel welcome. I had chicken tikka chasni which had the most chicken I've ever had in a curry which was a pleasant change from usual and was very affordable at under £10 for the curry. My girlfriend had the chicken tikka masala and enjoyed it, taking the rest home as the portion was so big. Will definitely be returning if we are here again.

Everytime we are on holiday to saltcoats we eat in this Indian restaurant, it's a laid-back atmosphere, staff friendly and make you welcome, food is excellent,well worth the money

The order came earlier than expected, the food was hot and delicious. Creamy korma, fragrant pilau rice and succulent tikka pieces. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking a tasty Indian meal in the Ardrossan area

Chicken tikka masla tasted like tomato soup with chunks of chicken in it the chips were freezing cold and the cheese garic nan bread has tomato in it.

Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Booking system needs MASSIVELY improved. Lost count how many times I’ve booked a table and had to wait 30+ minutes to get seated whilst walk ins have been sat before. Would be 5 stars if this was improved.

terrible food quality. reheated chicken which was cremated, reheated panoramic which was burnt and kids chips so harsh couldn't chew. they curry sauce was tasty but liberally very disappointed das half order inedible

Visited this restaurant today for the first time. Lovely venue, clean and tidy. The starters were lovely, I had chicken poori which was delicious, I had butter chicken for my main which was bland and tasteless. My main gripe though was staff approaching our table no less than 10 times while we ate which was off putting. At the end a waitress approached and asked if we had finished, I answered with my mouth full as clearly we were still eating, at this point we gave up and decided to leave. We were there for just over an hour. It wasn’t a great experience, I doubt we’ll return.

We had a take away delivered whilst staying at Sandylands caravan park. The food arrived promptly. The sauces on both curries (chicken saag and jalfrezzi) were phenomenally tasty and the chicken was incredibly tender and succulent. There was also generous amount. Highly recommend it.

Amazing place. My mum, dad and I all loved our lunch. Amazing value, excellent quality and exceptional service.

As always the food is amazing and the service without fault.

Pakora was cold. Pompadoms were shattered into tiny pieces. Nan breads were tough, cold and inedible. Disappointed to say the least

What a great night fabulous food staff were amazing. These guys should be very proud of what they have. Had the pakora platter plenty for 2. And the chiefs special with lamb rice ,nan bread two non alcoholic drinks value for money 10/10 can’t wait to go back

Had a random visit here on a Tuesday and couldn’t believe how busy it was. A quick google and seen the reviews and thought lets do it. On initial entry we were promptly met and asked to wait for a minute but very shortly later we were shown through the back. We had pakora to start. It was nice and I enjoyed it. We then had chicken Patia and a korma both with rice and then coffee and a small scoop of ice cream. All in all it was very pleasant. It was 10.95 each which was incredible. If it had been £20 a head it probably wouldn’t have been a 5 for the food probably a 4. That’s simply down to the portion size. For £10.95 it was very good. Staff were all lovely and attentive. Will definitely be back.

I travelled with my better from Glasgow to try this long established and highly rated restaurant. First impressions were good as even on a cold windy mid week evening the place was busy. We were offered a la carte, table buffet or the full buffet and went for the latter. Service was quick to start with. After the sliced onions we went to the buffet that had about 5 starters and 5 mains. We were asked our nan preference. Starters were ok as were the mains. However the food ran out quickly and we had to wait over 15 mins for it to be replenished by which time our nan was cold . Disappointed to say the least .

The delivery was earlier than anticipated. The food was full of flavour and as described. Also value for money.

my meal was delicious as always unfortunately can't say the same for the chips though which have been highly disappointing the last few times definitely won't be ordering chips again

Can't fault the food but the constant harassment when you are eating your meal asking are you finished is annoying walking past the table wanting you as soon as you get in served and get out, it is ignorant, the place is busy very noisy cramped in with large groups of people they do the same when they are not busy sending staff around the soon as you put your cutlery down for a drink never even finished first course we got the second.

Was a nice lunch. Good value for money 3 course 10.95 Food lovley. Good service.. I had mushroom pakora,4 peices small dip side salad. Friend had chicken pakora,same amount. I had Chicken Bhoona Small bowl rice Friend had chicken curry and rice. Portion looked small on arrival however was plenty for lunch. We bought a garlic nan to share. Followed by ice cream or tea or coffee. We both had the one scoop of vanilla ice cream,I had raspberry sauce on mine was lovley. Along with two diet cokes Cost was £34.80

Heard lots of people recommending this place but first time tonight. We had the table buffet which was superb. The whole meal from service, cleanliness, staff to food and drink was faultless. Price was also extremely reasonable which is why we’ll be back soon. Thank you

Gorgeous Indian, lots of lovely dishes to choose from and all so tasty! We had a table buffet and shared 6 curries all of which were amazing. Well deserved accolades and really friendly staff!

The fact that I'm prepared to make a 15ml round trip to get my takeaway says it all. It's a great place with great owners ,food and staff.

The primary reason to visit any restaurant is for the food and this one is excellent. The lamb is exceptional and recommended to all. The decor and ambiance is also first class and the toilets are spotless. Don’t miss this one we will definitely be back 👍

First visit here after friends and family raved about place for ages. Have to say, that it's a nice place with lovely staff, but food was just ok, and nothing special, it has to be said.

By far the best restaurant in the area.

Chicken tikka chasne is highly recommended, the garlic nan is gorgeous, and they always provide red spiced onions and poppadoms whilst you wait for your meal. Staff are always attentive and friendly and the restaurant is very contemporary in design and kept to a high standard, always enjoy eating in and take away from time to time. Prices are also fair compared to most places.

We've been to Motherland Spice a few times now, as the food is simply brilliant! Unfortunately this time the service was a bit slower than we are used to, as it was completely full and there didn't seem to be enough staff to cope with the sheer volume of customers. The staff were as helpful as ever, but just a bit overwhelmed.

Have never sat in for food, but the takeaway meals are always outstanding! Best Indian restaurant I've found in North Ayrshire. Staff always super friendly, even when you're not sitting in.

Although the food was on time it was on the cold side , the delivery driver didn’t have a hot bag just a normal bag , it was Lillie warm and the Nan bread was soggy , but the taste was delicious !

Who would have thought that tucked away in a small town of Saltcoats you would get an amazing Indian restaurant. Well you have found it. This is up there with the best and its probably the cheapest. Ignore anything else. Seriously this place is amazing. Even the service is good. Tip Try a few of the starters than are not typical on an Indian menu.... omg I could eat them as a main meal they are that good. Thanks... Will definitely be back and soon. Better than even any Indian restaurants in Glasgow and I have eaten at most of the top rated ones

I did not mean to order a collection, but Motherland Spice fixed my mistake, and was changed to delivery. All food was hot and absolutely delicious.

This is a very popular restaurant in Saltcoats town center. It is best to book as even midweek you may struggle to get a table. As well as the classics there are some experiment dishes including a curry infused with scotch whisky. Portions are appropriate, curries are well spiced. Plenty of staff who are friendly and helpful and a modern venue with with adequate lighting. As a local this is a place i will return to.

Our favourite restaurant. They do a great business lunch with great choices. However, we had 5 starters between us and it was delicious. Recommend - chicken 65, vegetable pakora, halloumi pakora, lamb tawa and my favourite - the chicken tikka Nepalese

Had been in this restaurant few times , food was acceptable, but twice had ordered lamb tikka , 1 nite came out as chicken tikka, lady argued that I didn’t order lamb , 2 nd time lamb was pink in middle, same lady serving us was very rude saying that was way lamb should be , she was so ignorant, guy who owns restaurant would be raging if he saw way we wer treated

My Mr's asked me to bring some spice in to our relationship, I left her tied to the bed and went round for a motherland, as always, was outstanding 👌 👏

I have been here a few times with family to eat in and every time the food is superb, the atmosphere is great very vibrant and chatty yet still makes you feel relaxed, all staff are very friendly and hospitable nothing is too much trouble. I mostly order takeaway for collection and it is always as good quality and on time. Some of the best curries about, you won't be disappointed.

Dined here 19/9/2024 - never been before . We hadn’t booked and were a walk in - was really busy but the managed to fit us in. Friendly staff , lovely welcome and nice atmosphere . Decor and cleanliness top rating. Food was so fresh and tasty. And thoroughly enjoyed our meal , great value . Will definitely go again when down that way .

Usual high standards and quality of food from the Motherland, I can't rate the food any higher and we are so lucky to have this restaurant nearby.

We ordered a takeaway due to the numbers we were and came to collect it. The website order was easy and intuitive . Prices were very reasonable and the portion were all generous. Even the kids curry was a win! We ordered a family feast and it was sufficient for 5/6people . Overall a great place with quality food eating in or out. Staff were very friendly and accommodating despite we came to collect and all greeted us. Highly recommend !

Visited for the 1st time 26/08 and just wow!! Such a warm welcome when we arrived, staff very friendly and attentive. Decor and cleanliness 10/10.
