The Chalkboard in Peterborough

After hearing about them on Instagram we picked the chalkboard for an 11th birthday brunch. From being greeted at the door the ladies were lovely, so attentive and great service. The food and drinks were delicious and perfect portions x

Lovely afternoon in the Chalkboard for Afternoon Tea. Nice and quiet just off the river with seating outside, be nice on a hot day I’m sure. Great selection of sandwiches and cakes. Would definitely go again!

Mum and I had an afternoon tea to celebrate Mum’s birthday. There was a vast choice of savoury and sweet. They cater for all dietary requirements. The service was friendly. Mum even got a free cake with a candle in. Which we thought was a lovely gesture.

We returned to the Chalkboard for Afternoon Tea. It was easy to book good communication from the team. Food was lovely, great service in a lovely location.

Okay first off. Best scones ever!!! However there are some problems with service. One time we’d all finished drinking our tea before scones arrived at the table. This time took ages for pre-lunch coffees and teas to arrive. We needed to get staff’s attention to get menus. One person opted for no crisps or chips with his sandwich but the crisps arrived in any case. It seems everything comes in a set way and staff seem unable to adjust to individual requests. Above all it’s more pricey than it really should be I think. Price for cream tea is very reasonable but for an egg and cress sandwich almost £10 seems a bit much. So some very good things but also some real shortcomings no wonder if the over the top pink artificial flowers and hearts somehow interferes with an ability to read the room and anticipate when customers may need attention.

Very easy process to pre book the afternoon tea and the food was delicious. Lovely friendly staff and we had a great birthday treat.

Myself and friends went to Teddi’s drag bingo on Friday evening! It was an absolute blast and such a great night out. The whole experience was really well organised, the food was fabulous and the staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Teddi is brilliant and full of fun, we laughed, smiled and enjoyed it very much! Highly recommend for a night out!

It was lovely to beable to choose what we wanted for our afternoon tea. Unfortunately our Prosecco wasn’t that cold and we should have said to the waitresses. They were very lovely but we did have to wait 25 mins for our preorder. The food on the whole was tasty although the sandwiches a little dry

It was a beautiful day so having our breakfast by the river was lovely. I had Avacado on sourdough with feta, watermelon, touch of mint and hot honey. That was gorgeous and will definitely have again, husband had the full English and he said it was up there with the best (there have been many sampled!). It was super busy and was glad I booked as lots of people were turned away. I have visited quite a few times and it’s one our favourite places to eat. Staff were lovely and whilst you can’t take your dog inside, they are very welcoming and were happy for us to sit outside and the staff bought out a water bowl for ours. Highly recommend

In a world where everything is done by app it was so refreshing to be served by polite and efficient humans. They were a little late with our food, an issue with the kitchen assistentsbut they came over and acknowledged the wait time, apologised and then offered us a round of drinks on the house. It was wonderul service and it complimented the amazing food so well. The BEST breakfast I've had! All elements cooked to perfection and so tasty, a definite new favourite spot and very reasonably priced and in a lovely setting to boot ... Can't say anything but nice things!

First visit to the chalkboard. I’d never been before and booked afternoon tea as part of my hen weekend. Had great communication through email from the beginning when I booked a couple of months ago and a great experience during my visit.very lovely setting and beautiful dressed in floral. Lots of photo opportunities. Staff were friendly and helpful, we had a problem with one of the orders but was resolved instantly and had a great personalised afternoon tea which was amazing food. Definitely going visit again. Highly recommend to go.

This is such a pretty restaurant with excellent views of the water and swans outside. We enjoyed our afternoon tea which was very filling and we had to get some of it to take home. Great friendly and quick service. Would highly recommend.

It's in a lovely location. The staff were friendly and nice. The ascetic was amazing. The flowers were beautiful. Thr food was fabulous and tasty. My niece loved her food and how it came.

Wow! This place is amazing. Booked to come for Afternoon Tea with my family for my Mum’s and Auntie’s birthday and couldn’t be happier on how it all went. The ease of booking, everyone being able to select their own menu to arriving and being seated a little earlier than we should. The food was exceptional and lots of dietary requirements met and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Massive thanks to all the lovely staff. We will be back for sure!

This is such a lovely place to go to for food, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner! I went with my friend for the first time and we both really enjoyed it, the decor inside was amazing too 😍 the food was delicious and even that looked pretty too 🤣 (we had afternoon tea) the staff members there were all very friendly and the service was really quick, we will definitely be going again soon!

Went for afternoon tea. We were greeted with a smile and was escorted to a table overlooking the river. The menu which you have to choose sandwiches,cakes and savory items is a list which takes some time to study as the choices are huge. The place was full but this didn't impact on the excellent service we recieved and our order was soon on our table. The food was fresh and was of a very high quality. We had to get a box to take away the items we couldn't eat. We had a really good expirence, nothing was to much trouble when we asked and would definitely be back.

We had afternoon tea here on Saturday. We sat by the window overlooking the river. The afternoon tea was the best I’ve ever had. Lots of sandwiches to choose from, made with lovely fresh bread and plenty of butter, gorgeous fresh scones and delicious cakes, particularly the Bakewell slice and biscoff cake. Everything was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere is great and it’s obviously very popular. I will definitely return.

The Chalkboard is an excellent place for a group to go for afternoon tea. There is a great choice of food and drinks - including vegan, gluten free and children’s options - and the quality and value for money are great too. The staff are all friendly and helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere and a great view over the river. Can’t recommend this place enough. Love it!

It was our first time here In the daytime. Food was spot on. Very generous portions! We had to take a doggy bag away with us! The staff were all polite and served us well. They were kind enough to bring over a birthday cupcake for myself too. I had actually forgotten I told them it was my birthday. So a pleasant surprise! Thank you 🙏🏽 I also love the story of how the chalkboard came about. I try to support local as much as I can too. Looking forward to my next visit, which will possibly be at the end of the month.

This was not our first visit to the chalkboard as it is one of our favourite places to go, however on this occasion it was for my daughter’s 11th birthday. The staff were amazing at making sure the girls were well looked after at their own table and even went the extra mile, offering to take pictures of them together having the best time. The food is always 10/10, as well as brilliant service with every visit. Thank you to all the staff!

It was amazing. The children loved their Easter themed afternoon tea and my ‘pick your own’ afternoon was delicious. We couldn’t eat it all and took a doggy bag home. Would 1000% recommend !

This has become my daughter’s newest favourite hangout, took her for birthday breakfast with her friends and turned out to be an excellent experience, from the minute we stepped in the girls were great , paid attention to detail to all our needs, food was great and reasonably priced too, my 14 year old enjoyed her day, made to feel special in every sense, Birthday cupcake and candy floss presented at no extra cost, what more could you ask for 🤣

Well this was our first visit to this restaurant today 29.03.24 and to say we really enjoyed it is a bit of an understatement. From our arrival everything ran smoothly and the food was excellent. Took my Mam for afternoon tea as it was her birthday 7th Nov. We went on Sat 11th Nov. It was a little more expensive than others I've had but it was well worth it. I’ve been to The Chalkboard many times for afternoon tea. This time I needed somewhere special to take a friend for lunch. The staff were friendly, as usual and the service was great. We opted for the sandwiches which were fresh and tasty. My friend was very impressed. We will definitely go again.

Pick your own afternoon tea was fabulous. Such a huge choice for all of us, including the coeliacs. All of it was delicious. Huge pieces of cake and delicious sarnies. Cheese scones were a highlight. Could only have been improved by bottomless tea.

Afternoon tea was amazing, way too much but nice little box to take leftovers home! Quality was exceptional and can’t wait to return to try the different cakes. Had to wait for sausage roll but it was the best sausage roll I’ve ever had!!

I visited for lunch with my sister, aunty and nan after watching a show and we thought it was a lovely setting. The menu is nice and varied and I really liked how there were options for sweet meals as well as savoury, to cater for those with a sweet tooth! The food was plentiful and very tasty and the staff were really friendly, we would definitely visit again! Thank you.
