If I could give zero I would, they don't deserve one star! Food was just about edible, although pie could be used as a doorstop. Staff, especially Shona, is rude and argumentative. Ordered drinks via the app after 15mins queried where they were, said they doing it now. 25 mins after placing the order I asked where the drinks were to be told 'i just told your daughter I'm doing them now' that was 10 minutes ago and I ordered 25 minutes ago. They weren't busy so I don't know why it took so long or that it was my fault they didn't see the order because they were all in the kitchen and not behind the bar! We cleared our own table ALL night, had to ask for plates to be removed after an hour of being left on the table, only cleared half the table? They run out of shot glasses (all dirty left on tables) so served tequila rose in a half pint glass?! Unbelievable. The app order finally arrived, Shona slammed them on the table in front of me and said when you've drunk those you can all leave. We've drunk and eaten in the centurion for 20+ years. The last year has seen a huge decline in service. Outside looks terrible, two abandoned vehicles with flat tyres and smashed up fencing. No attempt to fix or remove fencing. Such a shame as could be a lovely local pub.

Loved the bbq beef rib mac and cheese was to die for, really melted in my mouth!!! Kidd loved both the beef sliders and the chicken sliders too!!!

Went for Sunday lunch...have been before and wS very good..but yesterday..20th Oct...9 of us went...3 were children.. we adults had the roast...tge food was cold ..as we were waiting fir tge gravy.. we all left tge vegetables as they weren't cooked..couldn't cut into the leeks...very disappointed...was so looking forward to our roast dinner...spent well over 150 quid tgere with drinks yesterday ....

Absolutely fabulous food and service after a visit today. Fast and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere too. Did not expect the meal to be so nice as it was a 2 course deal but was happily surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had sausage and mash and a chocolate orange pudding. Our waitress was lovely, friendly and helpful would definitely recommend 👌

Loved it, great atmosphere and didn't feel rushed (no-one taking plates away as fast as you finish etc). Had Sunday lunch duo - lovely selection of veg - only critique would have liked more chicken and maybe less gammon ? X

Always a decent pint and bite to eat. The landlord is incredibly friendly and will do anything to ensure you enjoy your visit.

We booked a table online for 18.15 and to vacate at 20.30 Food ordered for 4 people, starters and mains. No sign of anything for an hour, bought drinks at the bar. Spoke to the management and was told give us 20 minutes for your starters. 5 minutes later they turned up piping hot out of the frier. Mains turned up 20 minutes later, steak cold, sizzling hot chicken skewers cold but 2 burgers were fine apart from cold gravy and luke warm chips. Two mains were reimbursed but this place which is a local pub has deteriorated very quickly, even pouring a pint is a fiasco !! All new staff and it shows !!

Had a great experience here. Monday lunchtime, so not the busiest, but the staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was good and inexpensive. Top marks. Other than! And this is splitting hairs, we weren't asked if we needed more drinks or extra sauces when our food was delivered. So close to perfection!

The gents toilet needs the hand dryer to be put in its been to long with out them . And the gables left stuck out is not very safe. You can not falt the beer very good.

Just had lunch at the Centurion, Amelia served us, what a delight she is…..nothing to much trouble, cheery happy and knows her job, looking forward to going back, the food was first class fresh and well prepared.

Hi, I have been into the centurion today at lunch with my friend Mary and Amelia served us.I am gluten free and Amelia was so helpful with my choices and put me at ease.I chose the Shepherd's Pie and it was delicious so we will be returning again very soon, thanks again Amelia best wishes Carole.

Chloe has transformed this pub, she is a lovely person, very friendly and approachable, I bring my friends round who come from Bristol and Leeds, they love it there; the food is great, we eat there regularly, the staff are so friendly, it’s a genuinely nice place to go. I highly recommend the Centurion in North Hykeham for food, drinks or a friendly chat.

Food is adequate, a bit dated but it's comfort food. The kitchen seems understaffed with at least thirty minutes to wait for food. Ordered coffee and dessert, coffee was long gone cold before dessert arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. The poor chef is probably stressed and could do with a hand. The waiting staff didn't advise on length of wait until we went and asked where our food was. The response both times was that they are short staffed.

Okay pub, large outside sitting area, quite nice inside. Visited twice in a week and was told there was over a hour wait for food, so we left. I did notice however that there were food delivery workers by the kitchen door to pick up their orders. So maybe the long wait for food was due to them giving priority over the customers in house. Either be a pub serving food of be a takeaway because doing both does not seem to work.

Quite disappointing visit. Food requested not available (again). The colleague passed my meal to my hand and the plate was so hot it burnt me, when I called out, he didn't acknowledge this and walked away. After the meal I went back to bar to order drinks, to see a new note saying last orders at 9.30. Would think twice before returning. Such a shame as not much choice to eat out locally.

The best pub in Lincoln, Conner is an outstanding barman and Cloe runs the bar really well.

This is the best pub ever. It’s our local and we’ve been coming for 4 years. The food is ace thanks to the kitchen manager and staff who graft hard. The beer is always on point with changing beer taps on cask with a great choice to choose from. All the bar and kitchen staff are amazing, including Chloe and Connor tonight. Thank you. Staff and food is amazing! We often come for food. We come with our 2 children and our little boy is autistic. The staff have been amazing and always find us a quite table in the corner away from noise and lights that is more suited to our son. They always interact him and make us feel welcome The food is always amazing and thekitchen always listen to our fussy food orders 😂 and our requests We will definitely be returning

Terrible meal I sent the soup back as it was so watery and tasteless. The thandori chicken was overcooked and hard. Shame as I think in the past it has been a good place to go and eat.

Been twice both times my app does not show the stamps even when the staff did it the last 😒 Went today was told kitchen not open untill 12.15 duty to a accident Then went order my food at 12.00and was told there will be a extra 45 min wait whilst they get ready 🙄 absolute shambles avoid at any cost

Don't understand when you book a table. Arrive on time. Order and pay for meal, then have to wait nearly an hour for it to arrive. Not good enough when you have other stuff arranged.

It was a great experience from start to finish. I booked a table for 22 people. I sent in the pre orders. The staff were so helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was great and fantastic service! Thank you Centuriun!

The inside of the bar itself is absolutely fantastic. The staff are incredibly friendly who work immediately behind the bar. The toilets are clean and smell clean. However, the outside is where the smoking area is and all the outside tables and huts could really do with a damn good clean. When I say clean, I specifically mean the patio could do with a very good pressure wash and the weeds could do to be pulled in the fence could do to be mended where it is slightly Broken.

Went their for Sunday lunch. Not overally impressed. Table menus suggested better for an evening out.

Came in on our anniversary, i had a steak that was just a chunk of rubber could not even cut it with a steak knife. Told nice lady who took plates away who said sorry. My wife had fish which was nice. Spent over £40. Was not even offered a free drink.

There was none of us in the group. One of us had steak which was tough too hard gammon but the pineapple wasn’t a pineapple ring. It was a piece and it was very hard. Couldn’t cut. It had mixed grill beef with the state was tough sausages undercooked red wine lasagne is okay curries were okay, felt that stuff that was cooked in the kitchen wasn’t up to standard

Today we had a fantastic meal at the Centurion, food was excellent and well prepared and cooked to perfection. Everywhere was clean,staff were polite and very friendly, the main and most important part of our experience was how helpful they were to my garlic allergy. Chloe the manageress went through all the things we ordered to check there was nothing garlic related, we had steak which was done on a separate grill. Thank you to Chloe and the team you were all fantastic we will return highly recommended Bryan

We had a nice family meal at the Centurian at the weekend. Sat next to the open fire, which was a great spot. The food was nice, it was served quickly considering how busy the pub was, it was hot and tasty, and what you'd expect from pub grub. The gravy on the roast was really flavoursome, I enjoyed it. The staff that we encountered were all welcoming, helpful, and attentive. They really made an effort to check in on us. The only thing that I will add is that the smaller appetite option on the children's menu is suggested for up to age 7, personally, I'd say the portion size isn't enough for a 7 year old. We'll go for the bigger appetite option for our children if we return with them. The pub has lots of offers on food and drinks throughout the week, we'd like to try the steak one. After a pleasant experience on Sunday, we'd like to return for another meal some time soon.

Typical Ember Inn, good selection of beers and wines. Food is good pub food. Good atmosphere, staff are friendly but service can be a little slow sometimes.

We came here twenty five of us for a church committee meal. The service was great the food was brilliant we all had something different and it was all served together and hot, I didn’t take any photos because it would have been rude to but I would highly recommend this place

I went as one of a large group (20+) for an evening meal. The Centurion is a classic pub restaurant with a pleasant neutral decor and a nice atmosphere and was reasonably busy that evening. We had given prior notice and were seated together without difficulty, which is by no means always the case. Despite the numbers, service was very good, being pleasant, friendly and efficient. The food arrived hot and was tasty. All in all we spent a very pleasant evening and I would happily recommend The Centurion to anyone for a meal out.

Considering there was a staff shortage and were closing earlier, the venue was very busy but not in a bad way. Everything seemed very organised and waiting times not as long as told. This was our first visit and would definitely go back again. There was a good buzz about the place. The food very good and drinks very reasonably priced too. There were no bad points that I can think of.

Normally like this place but today was an absolute joke. Took my 3 year old daughter to get some lunch, waited an hour after being told upto 30 mins, food still didn’t arrive, watched as a Xmas party were served starters and main courses and all the attention was on them. Ended up cancelling the food and getting a refund. Went elsewhere and was eating within 15 mins

As someone who has been coming to this pub since I was 18 (far longer ago than I wish), I’m genuinely sad to write this review. Had an awful experience this evening. The worst service I’ve encountered in a long time - to say the woman who served me was rude and obnoxious would be an understatement. It’s the first time I’ve ever been called a liar by bar staff purely for pointing out a genuine error with the order. The situation was made worse when the server just walked away rather than try to resolve the situation with me. As someone who has enjoyed great hospitality over the years, I’d say this was one of the worst and most unprofessional experiences I have encountered. Advice for potential customers based on tonight’s experience - Avoid and spend your hard earned money somewhere far more deserving. Advice for Ember Inns - don’t take your customer loyalty for granted and train your staff properly in the basics of how to deal with people. After over 20 years of returning to this pub, I will no longer be coming back.

Went here as a group 4 adults and 2 16 year old. One of the 16 year old and one adult ordered food. As he was going to eat, was bought a half of lager by an adult. The landlady came over and demanded we leave as he wasn't allowed to drink bcoz he's not 18. As far as I knew (and I have checked) a 16/17 year old can have a lager or cider if they are eating (as long as they don't buy it themselves). We requested a refund for the (as yet undelivered, even though had been ordered some time before) food. Wouldn't recommend going if you have a 16/17 year old who may like a half with their meal. We will not be returning.

We were booking for a large party for a team Christmas meal and as such had chosen this venue as it appears to look like it has an enjoyable atmosphere and an appetising menu. Whilst we found the actual venue and the food to be quite enjoyable the customer services left a very sour taste in the mouth. When liaising with the booking person over the phone we found them to be both rude and unhelpful, we were told in no uncertain terms that our deposits which we paid would be non refundable, (Had it not been we certainly wouldn't have come along). we took this to mean that we had paid a deposit and if our food came to less than this then we would not be refunded the difference. It was not specified anywhere that it would differ to this. We were told we needed to submit a pre order by Thursday 7th December, however when we tried to do this we were unable to get through and so called back and then left a voicemail. this phone call was not returned and as such we tried to call on the Friday, again we had no response and no action on our voicemail. We repeated this on both Saturday and Sunday with no luck. We finally got through on the Morning of the booking, the lady on the other end was very rude about the fact we were submitting our pre order now rather than apologising for the issues that had happened with the phone system as one would expect there to be. We attended the venue, and due to both illness and unavailability our party was much reduced from the original booking (Although this would have been noted upon us submitting our order on Thursday as we tried to do). The food was out to us quickly and efficiently and the waiting service was ok, However upon trying to sort the bill we were told we needed to pay an additional amount, this despite the fact our original deposit had covered the meal in full. When we asked why they were looking to charge this then explained that they had to turn away another large table. The restaurant was by no means full and the table we were sat at was for 6 people and as such I struggled to see where they had reserved a table that hindered the ability to service this additional table and in all honesty felt like a reason to charge extra. Upon challenging the bill there was no understanding of our position until we proved we had rung and left a voicemail. All in all the customer service was absolutely appalling, Whilst i appreciate the customer isn't always correct, that is a view that is had in the kitchen or in the back office not in front of the customer. I for one am very disappointed and struggle to see how i will visit here again myself let alone recommend.

Very busy pub, but we did go on a Friday evening. Very hard to hold a conversation due to the noise. Food was ok, average pub grub. Value for money and friendly staff. Really liked the fact you can order from your phone via the QR code. Saved fighting your way through the masses to get to the bar. I like a quieter pub, but this pub is very popular and lively which is a very good sign in this day and age. Only 4 stars due to me getting old and not liking the noise.
