Well kept cask ales have ensured this Spoons has been a constant entry in the Good Beer Guide for the past 7 years.

Can't say the food is perfect,most of the products are frozen but it's perfect for a quick meal.Service is awful if u don't use the app and need to wait at the bar to be served,takes between 10-20 min to be served

Great place to catch up with friends.

I hate to say it about Weatherspoons, but the food value is excellent, well cooked every time I visit

Usually love it here, food, drinks and prices but today it's bloody freezing in here and I'd rather be at home and drinking wine out of my fridge in the warm 🥶

Nice breakfast bacon a bit burnt but can not complain paying that price

Very bad service and rude employees. We were 10 people standing waiting for a table and one of the staff just ignored us when we asked if we can have the table cleaned and kept on cleaning other tables. Absolute joke. Management should really consider training their staff on how to do their job. And another incident about missing one of the orders,after 45 min debating what happened one of the girls came to bring the missing pasta with a very arrogant and rude attitude. Only good thing was that the food was great. Very dissapointed i must say.

Great place, typically English atmosphere. Dinner was served quickly and tasty. Personally, I ate an Asian dish that was delicious, the people with me ate a hamburger, fish and chips, and a tortilla. Everyone liked everything. I recommend

The food was fine and it came quickly, but several tables remained uncleared for our entire visit of around 45 minutes. Furthermore, unfortunately the atmosphere was ruined by people playing things out loud on their phones throughout our meal. Also, they had ran out of tomato ketchup.

Food was lukewarm when brought to the table and 3 of the real ales were unavailable. Chips were cold and so was everything else before the meal had been eaten. Decor was very old fashioned and dingy. Not up to usual Weatherspoon standards, won't be going back there anytime soon.

A typical Spoons. The Jalfrezi curry I had was good, as was the bottle of Elvis Juice I washed it down with.

Warm and cosy, and with the usual Weatherspoons respect for the local boudoir of the place. A great breakfast (reliably good) and excellent coffee machine, all for a modest price. What's not to like?

Really nice Spoons conveniently located near the upper Shotton train station. Good service from a switched on barman. £3.45 for a large Pinot Grigio. Bargain 🤑. Thank you.

In Chester we did not stay at the Central Hotel but we spent a lot of time at Wetherspoon. We love their menu. There’s a wide choice of beer. Tea/coffee is come with refills. The staff, although very busy, are so caring and helpful. They’re well-trained and it shows.

I ordered a steak rare, and it came out medium-well, medium at best. Everything else was amazing, I think they just need to improve cooking capabilities when it comes to steak

I go here from time to time, and I’d say I’m pretty lucky to live so close to one of these. The food’s pretty good, but the service is slightly slow, but it’s probably because the place can get pretty crowded from time to time. The decoration is nice and the atmosphere is welcoming. I would recommend this branch if you live locally. :)

Every time I go there they have no Worthingtons bitter that place has gone worse

Probably the worst mix grill I've ever tasted in my whole life cheap meat all paper thin and over cooked please for god sake never eat at this place its terrible will never visit ever again it's bad when the Pepsi max is the best tasting thing on your menu you need better chef and better quality meat

My friend and I go on a Friday lunch and have small fish chips mushy peas and a coffee .The fish is tender and the batter is thin and crispy just how I like it

Service slow. Generally good place and good selection of ales.

First time at this spoons and the staff were fabulous with us. We ordered our meal only to be told there were none left. Order something else, again none left. They went on to tell us, how sorry they were and apologised for being low in stock due to a break in. They did a fabulous job with minimal stock. Beer, was in good condition 💯 well done for managing a bad situation.

Had breakfast here, family meet up to have a chat and a bit of food. Meal was excellent, buy a coffee or tea and its unlimited, so if you like alot of tea or coffee then happy days.

Got to be the cheapest spoons in the UK, excellent breakfast in the morning, cracking pints of Guinness in the evening all for very little monies, service with a smile lovely staff

Good value. Decor needs updating very tired. But its a weatherspoons so thats a plus

Nice place to go, staff friendly and food looked good. I will be going back. After going back again the food came out in less than five minutes but was not hot, makes me.think pre cook for speed. Still the same food not hot.

Food is typically Wetherspoons food. Quick and cheap. The central on the other hand seem dirty and dark. Glasses and plates everywhere. Lack of cleaning tables was an off putting experience. If the prices were not so good and this being halfway between 2 mates then I wouldn't use it.

A decent Wetherspoons, so you can't go too wrong. Only marred slightly by the fact there didn't seem to be enough people clearing tables and had to wipe our own, plus when we'd finished eating our plates were cleared away without even asking if we'd finished, or if everything was ok - basic stuff really.

The 3 times I have been into a Weatherspoons I have always been pleasantly surprised. Staff friendly and helpful. Prices great. Food basic but warm and good selection.

Great place very cheap beverages. Right by the train station so you don't have to drive. Ideal for a get together with friends or Family or even alone. Staff were lovely too.

A pub stuck in the past by its clientele, food fair and prices reflect it. Pay to park.

Handy if your waiting for connection at next door station. 50 min wait for a connection was easily filed by a nicely cooked traditional breakfast

Tonight i ordered the usually outstanding nachos. I mean i am always in this wetherspoons. I spent most of tonight removing labels from camden hells bottles and redesigning carlsberg stem glasses. Back to the nachos... Frank said ooh hes ordered nachos. I said these arent too the usual nacho standard. This set of nachos was loaded with Jimmy savilles offload. There was no Guacamole. I love guacemole. If this is the new standard ... well now then... i dont enjoy Jimmys sauce inthat quantity. Bring back the standard wetherspoons Shotton. I am dosappointed in you. Still a little tastey and filled an ollow tooth. Cheers.

Since when do u serve frozen soup? I had chunks of actual frozen soup in a warm bowl?? Wonder what food standards would say about this??

I was at this weatherspoons this evening and was not given the £2 discount that was advertised clearly on all the tables, I ask the girl behind the bar and she said ( very rudely) that she had no idea this was on offer today . I asked for a refund of the £2 but was told (again very rudely) that I would have to produce my bank card to process the refund, but as I paid on my phone this was not possible. The amount was not the issue I had it was the way myself and sister were spoken to!!!

Table was dirty when we sit down,I had to ask for someone to clean the table for us and don't think he was happy doing it! It was very hot weather and the windows was closed and fly's flying over our table and near our food which was not nice,over all would I go against probably yes has the food is quite cheap on the special offers other then that then no would not go again but having kids need to keep the bills down

This Wetherspoons is apparently one of the highest rated in North Wales, and after visiting a few times I can see why. The location is really good being near both the Shotton railway station and nearby to bus stops. The prices are cheap, but you'll get pretty good quality food and drink for what you're paying. The place is well kept and always clean from my visits. It generally has a nice atmosphere, and it's always interesting to read where they put up signs about the history of the building and area. Overall a great Wetherspoons to visit.

A bit local, local. Fantastically located for Shotton railway station. Enjoyed the food here. Credit to the kitchen staff, twas the hottest meal I have ever been served in a Wetherspoons! The manager was very busy cleaning the tables, it did leave me wondering if perhaps they thought I was a Wetherspoons "mystery shopper?" All in all a good inexpensive visit. Impressive Spoons.

The 'Spoons - much loved English institution or cynical corporation, it is open to debate. However, they do save some lovely old buildings, and this particular branch served me a much needed pint of cider during a long cycle ride for £1.99, unheard of in the 21st Century.

Lovely venue, very welcoming staff and having never been there before didn't know what to expect. The quality of the food , portion size and the whole experience means I will be back again this week for another go 😊👏👏👍

Grand old pub next to the railway station

This was my 2nd visit to this spoons and we had a meal this time, which was very good and did not wait very long.The staff were polite and kept the tables clean and cleared regularly.

Visited today 22/2/23 and once again clearly the cleanest most friendly . Also food served quick and hot myself and partner and 2 grandchildren had just basic American style burger and chips youngest granddaughter had child's pizza all ate the lot gets 10 outta 10 from me and I have family that work and manage other weatherspoons

Disappointed by staff member's attitude. Sat outside and bought coffees whilst checking Scouts as they came past on a hike. One member of staff came out and had a go at the kids for eating a snack from their bag and refilling their water bottle from a 2 litre bottle we had brought with us. He also chased another customer out of the 'beer garden' as she had a well behaved dog with her. The two parents who were staying until the Scouts reached the next checkpoint had planned to eat there, but took their business elsewhere because of this member of staff's appalling customer service. Management take note, this is probably why it was half empty on a Saturday.

Visited here recently, it was very nice. The atmosphere was bustling as it was a little busy but the food was still hot and fresh, the staff were all very friendly and helpful where needed. Would definitely visit again in the future.

Nice wetherspoons. Popped in for a coffee whilst waiting for a train. Lovely setting, toilets upstairs, as a lot of spoons toilets are. Not too busy.

Was treated disgustingly by staff. Ordered on the app. Drink unavailable despite paying for it. Was refused a cash refund and ordered to drink up and leave. A refund that I am unlikely to ever see again. A loyal longstanding customer lost forever. Staff need retraining in handling customers in my opinion.

Service wasn't great and to be honest neither was the food but its just a standard weatherspoons what do you expect?

Good service, used the app and drinks served quicker than going the bar as was a fairly big queue. Can't fault the staff friendly helpful and fast.

It's spoons. Simple as that! It's not the Ritz. You will see a woman with a bottle of wine at 09.00 am with 2 glasses but drinks the whole bottle 🤣. Staff are great, food is nice, location is good. It's spoons! Cheap food and beer but a great time to be had here.

You know what you get at Spoons. Immensely good value for beer and wide selection. Food is average but again good value.

Staff are more pleasant than the staff at holywell, change the management and you won't lose as many customers to the vaults in town.

Probably the most dirtiest place to have a meal, tables never cleaned, seats are matted in gods knows what and the floor has more food scattered everywhere, this place needs to stop providing food if there standards are thus bad.

Nice setting full of pics of the area from past times. The food is reasonable pub grub. The drinks are reasonably priced too.

It's a Wetherspoons. What more can you add?

Ordered a tikka masala with the extras from here. The food was lovely though a little on the small side as far as the rice and curry were concerned. The onion bargi was a little burned and the was something crunchy in the rice. Spoke to the manager and my complaint was resolved to my satisfaction. Very helpful staff and an excellent manager. Highly recommended

Very impressed with this branch of Wetherspoons. The service is generally really quick when you order from the app even when quite busy and the food & drink is really good quality. Only slight downer was that vinegar was hard to find.

Ordered Steak dinner ,steak cooked how i requested but meal has no mushroom or peas and am sure you use to get half a tomato ,food was boringly enough alright after a load of ketchup on the chips and yea ,that was my last steak dinner for a while from there tbh.
