Open mic night is always great!! Staff are super friendly… Adam is great but Nikki’s vibes put him to shame ❤️❤️ Landlord is an amazing geezer. Pool table is free to play on Tuesdays and the best sports are always playing.

We have tried several times to have a meal here and have been turned away every time with lame excuses. One excuse was it was passed five o’clock, another was that it was because there was football on and another was just simply we are not serving food today. Now in this day and age if you can turn away six people each time all I can say is you must be very busy. However looking around on the occasions we have been there it quite clearly was not. If you are not going to serve food then don’t advertise it. Staff were rude too and not even an apology. Avoid this place at all costs unless they get some staff in that actually care

This pub is just down the road from me literally but despite claiming that it sells food I have never ever ever seen it sell food in the last four years they always have some stupid excuse as to why they haven’t got food there on any particular day best use of change daily but don’t worry I have a whole box of them the chef has left the chef is ill they have no chef new owners you name it. Although the drinks are fine supposed to be a family pub but if you also go elsewhere despite the fact that it advertises they sell food they actually don’t and the drinks are rather expensive as well avoid if at all possible

The cavalier is one of those places that could be fantastic if the work was put in. We used to drink there many years ago and it was a bustling pub. However our most recent visit was not so good. We were there with a large party following a funeral, and a Buffett had been laid on. The food itself was a reasonable buffet. However the rest was not so good, staff were friendly but appeared very untrained and were dressed as though they had just returned from a gig or football match and to be honest could have been anyone there was no distinguishing them from customers. Despite knowing a large group were attending they initially had only one staff on which meant a long wait for drinks. The pub decor is very poor, it looks run down and In need of a good overhaul. It could do so Much better and it’s location, size and car park are ideal for events etc but it’s been left to rot over the years.

You to come to this pub almost daily after my coma I wanna learn to walk this was the only place I could really come through as I couldn’t walk any further and it is just around the corner from my house it was absolutely amazing the manager was lovely are used to get concessions I was allowed to have a top on padded bag next time I really like to come here it was a really special place for me but unfortunately it’s changed now and if you want to have a male it’s a bit of a dice situation depends on the day of the week the type of weather if it’s raining if it’s knowing if it’s sunny if The chef turns out if the sky is blue if the wind is windy you get the picture… Basically it’s very difficult to get a mail here most of the time it’s a hit or miss situation which is usually a miss I hardly ever have any food or or any way of cooking the food and nine times out of 10 you will be let down and turned away. The pub doesn’t even have to press on that half of the time he sells alcohol if you want to go in there and get drunk and get off your face this is definitely the place to come but if you want to eat with your family and have a family mail don’t bother coming here despite it’s lush green gardens and plentiful eating space this is potentially the most difficult place I’ve ever come across to get food and to think this is a restaurant at primarily you’re supposed to sell food no wonder it’s not doing very well I said they’re changing the menu and the new menu looks absolutely delicious just a shame I haven’t been able to get a third of that one either because the last four times we’ve been for whatever reason they haven’t been out to cook anything same story as before lovely menu no way of getting we have simply given up we will not be coming back here and I suggest you don’t bother coming here either As for the cleanliness staff etc... the staff are lovely it’s a clean place where lash outdoor places to sit plentiful a space I really good for families I wouldn’t hesitate in coming here if they can sort their problems out

The pub is under new management and what a difference that makes. Someone who is seen and engages with the customers unlike the last few encumberments. We have just been to a wine tasting and what a brilliant evening that was. Very informative and a wide variety of wines plus a cheese board to finish. Met new friends and would definitely return.

This pub has recently been refurbished and to be fair they have done fantastic job. IPod Nano still in modern with it snooker table/ pool table it's jukebox and it's new tables and chairs etc. The new layout of the pub is wonderful the staff are extremely friendly and it looks very modern and clean the biggest problem with this pub is that it never seems to sell any food and it doesn't matter how many times we seem to visit the place they always have some sort of excuse as to why they can't make any food it's a bit stupid really we used to go there all the time for food and now we just go somewhere else because we know there just aren't going to have it in stock today. the food itself is fantastic when you can get it but tastes absolutely gorgeous family cooked food extremely well worth the money but that doesn't mean you're actually going to get any and most of the time when you turn up to this venue you will be disappointed for this reason I cannot recommend this establishment and obviously I will not be returning here at least not in the near future. The pub stays on the sign it says food every single day except Monday but most of the time it doesn't serve food at all so really just pointless coming in the first place

Visited for lunch. Ordered a fish finger sandwich. Only the fish fingers were edible. Bread was rock hard stale, lettuce brown and rotten. Was told by the woman who cooked it (we think) "that's why I don't eat them, they are not nice those rolls". !!!!No offer of a drink/ refund. Barmaid apologised, but we guess maybe that's all she could do. Never ever again. The staff eating food from the chippy next door on one of the tables should have been enough of a warning but we thought we would give it a go thinking that one can't really go wrong with a baguette. We were wrong it seems.

Been a few years since I last visited. Looks like the recession has hit this place and you get the feeling the staff had taken over that evening!Tired tatty decor inside and out. Most the menu was missing and the staff had to keep calling to check what was available. Was did arrive was terrible. Battered Fish was more like a kids cricket bat. Dry and hard. Chicken kebab. Chicken was undercooked and near raw. Kebab consisted of chopped cucumbers and tomatoes with nothing else. Appalling and not worth the money. Tacky place and awful food. A place to avoid until it has been refurbished and the chef has had some training.

We chose The Cavalier to celebrate my birthday as it is easily accessible for friends and provided a one stop shop for a night out where those with children could come for a meal early on and then others stay for the weekly karaoke party. The menu offered a lot of choice and the portions were large. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food they were given. The prices were good too and it is worth remembering this when considering the food as you get what you pay for. Choices ranged from the nachos, to the meze platter, the mixed grill, burger, fish and chips and lamb shank. All good or the price. Children's food menu is excellent too with two courses for the little ones at a very resonable£4.50.Once the family people left and those of us who were left stayed for the karaoke, we had an excellent time - the atmosphere here is very friendly and the age range from 18-88. The pub was very busy and our only minor criticism is the length of time we had to wait for a drink. Given that January is traditionally a slow month, perhaps the management did not realise how busy they would be.All things said this is a great venue for a people who want variety in terms of food, they type of people the place suits and what kind of night they can have. "Meal to party" in one stop wins for me when I am trying to find somewhere to get all my friends together.

I've read what other people are saying here and I must say, I eat at the cavalier at least once a week. It's my local! The food is excellent and always fresh, hence the wait some times. I agree the Guinness is well poured too and you get a shamrock on it. It's the only pub in town offering a dj on Fridays and karaoke on Saturdays. I'm on their mailing list and they have great events all year round. There is free parking and they have a huge beer garden for us smokers. Sorry guys but I love it in this place. Oh yeah, the Sunday roast is exceptional and you get loads on your plate. Tonight they had an amazing firworks display with a BBQ and my husband and I found it very reasonable as did my 3 children who ate at least 2 hotdogs and a burger each. My favourite meal is their burger and chips and now they have Malbec too, I'm happy.

The Cavalier is very near our house but we'd never been there to eat. On entering the other evening our first thoughts were 'what a nice place': warm, friendly-looking, like an old-fashioned local, and a waiter took our order promptly. But then we had to wait ages for our food, though no-one else was eating (wonder why?). My husband's steak was well-done though he'd requested medium-rare and the tomato, mushroom and chips as well as the steak had an unhealthy amount of salt on them (it's usual to add your own if you want it!) When the waiter came to ask if all was OK he told him the above but the waiter (foreign) just looked & walked away. My chicken tikka masala was poor, not worth £9.95. When we'd finished a woman (manager?) came over & saw the uneaten food & said he should have sent it back (!). She said he wouldn't be charged for his meal. No-one produced a bill but when my husband went to the bar to pay he was told £19 something, which seemed a lot for my poor meal and 2 glasses of wine. The TV was switched on 10 minutes after our arrival, showing a football match, and it was extremely loud. There were only 2 men watching it. My wine glass had lipstick smears on the rim, which I wiped off. The management/owners should do something to improve this place as it could be so much better.

Was passing through on a Sunday and dropped in to watch a big football game. They had Gaelic football(!?) on on the big projector because a couple of Irish guys "got here first". The vastly more numerous football fans were left to watch the game on a smaller tv behind the bar, with awkward seating. This was more annoying than anything else, but not the best way to run a pub.Food: very, very overpriced. Average quality. Chips way too greasy. Customer service was appalling. Bar staff were very unfriendly. One, who I think may have also been the landlady, shortchanged my friend by £10. After a couple of minutes of awkward (embarrassing) discussion she acknowledged that she had in fact made a mistake and gave him correct change. It seemed to be a genuine mistake, but she didn't even apologise! Would not recommend to anybody. Avoid.

The food was lovely, well presented and tasted gorgeous. The drinks are 1st rate properly carbonated and the staff are both attentive, polite, friendly and responsive to your needs. No waiting for drinks and very accommodating. The pub is expensive with 3 meals coming in at nearly £40 including a few cokes, I will be going back but unless the prices come down I would avid this place if your not willing or don't have the money to put up at LEAST £10 per head. I had the laughing Cavelier Burger, it came to almost £10,00 alone and the drink was on top of that. Yes its lovely no its not worth £10. I am hooked on their food though and its ALWAYS been fresh and top notch. I've never had to complain about them as yet x Its expensive, minimum £5 card payment no option to add say 50p more for under £5 - annoying x

We visited this pub today having booked a table for 7 for lunch. We were sat and were just about to order when the football was put on the big screen with the volume so loud it was impossible to hold a conversation. We were told it couldn't be turned down so were eventually moved to another table. Drinks were then served in dirty glasses, the food orders were incorrect and vegetables were served raw. Our complaints to the staff resulted in the manager refunding half our food bill and giving us free drinks but this did little to rectify what was meant to be a relaxing family lunch. We were assured it was just a bad day and that we should try another time but not sure we'll bother.

First visit and hope to be back - indoor and outdoor seating available. Toilet facilities at side of cafe (query park managed). Good quick service and range of food / drinks. A little pricey but probably in keeping with the area. Good views over the park. Would prefer a pot of tea (small cup at £2.75 definitely needs reviewing).
