Really enjoyed our dinner at The Causerie! Great menu choice and relaxing atmosphere. Special shout out to our waiter Adam, who was a ray of sunshine! Adam made us feel so welcome, looked after and he was so professional with his manner and approach to all tables. We loved his energy and conversation!

We had a pre-theatre meal at The Causerie restaurant in the Europa last night. Menu offered plenty of choice with the fish being served exactly to our liking. Patricia looked after us extremely well even though it was a busy evening. With its convenience to the theatre, quality food and excellent service this is a great way to start your evening. The Causerie has the right ambience and menu for the discerning diner. P.S. After the show we nipped into the Europa's Piano Bar for a drink. Staff very friendly and attentive and finished off our evening beautifully.

My husband had never eaten here before but was really impressed just as I was. Themanager Steven whom I have met before at the restaurant was just amazing. My husband was extremely impressed by his attentiveness and advice on food dishes and that of the wine to complement the food. Very reasonably priced. Great service and staff. We will definitely return.

I have never had to write review on anything before I but I feel that it has to be said . I have always wanted to stay in the Europa hotel since I was a child . My parents had gifted me a bed breakfast dinner stay for my 30th birthday . I had booked to stay in the hotel on Sunday the 11th of December past , we had dinner booked in the restaurant . ,which is when our stay went down hill . We very quickly taken to out table given menus and asked did we want to order drinks we ordered our drinks with in seconds another waiter asked to take our our order with both ordered 2 Caesar salads 1 turkey ham and 1 tia green curry . 25 minutes later my partner went to the bar area and to be told no drinks had been put through for our table , the bar man took our order . Then after 35 minutes in the restaurant a waitress come down with the 2 main courses I said sorry we never got starters the waitress never said anything and walked off with the plates .10 min later our starters arrived which where on the only edible part of the evening. When the main courses arrived it was Clear to see the turkey and ham had been sitting under a lamp the plate was all dried in Gravy scum , but had then been covered in that much new gravy the plate was swimming it was all cold and soggy it was not edible, my partner had tai green curry he said he could only describe it was rubbery as it had been under the heat lamp for so long the chicken was rubbery and the rice dried out and cold too . We got up and left the food and drinks and never ordered dessert as the mains was not edible. When we went to the till we said about the food and the lady said they wouldn’t charge us as it was already paid for with my voucher this did not matter . I did air disappointment with the hotel reception emailed the restaurant with no response . Can honestly say we it was the worst meal avoid avoid

Bit of a mixed review... the food was lovely, parfait nice and light and thai green curry was delicious. I asked if I could have my main with half chips/half rice and No was the answer - very strange for a restaurant not to cater to a diners simple request and I am sure I am not the first diner to request this. We booked dinner well in advance for a special birthday and asked to be seated in a nice area by the window, this did not happen, and we had a seat in a corner by a windy window. The wait staff were pleasant, the maître de (or head waiter..) was a little snooty. We were staying overnight at the Europa and breakfast the next day was delicious too. Everything was piping hot and they had a nice selection of tea's and breads too. Staff were young but very pleasant.

A group of 6 of us had dinner last night in the Causerie restaurant at Europa Hotel, Belfast. We booked the pre-theatre menu (two courses for £25 including a drink) over the phone two weeks ago. When we arrived we were told that this menu was no longer available but no apology was given. Several other tables were also surprised when they learned this too. I was then told that we could not order cocktails because they could not guarantee how long they would take to arrive. I therefore ordered a rum and orange juice but was given these in two separate glasses which was odd (this happened again with my second order so not a one off error). Most of our food was delicious such as the beef, the battered fish and the sticky toffee pudding but the thai curry was extremely dry with not much sauce and the sauce was quite watery with hard and dry rice. After dinner, I then learned that my husband had phoned early in the day to pay for a bottle of prosecco to be put on our table as a nice surprise but he was told that he could not do this for several reasons. All of this left us bewildered at such awful customer service. It is disappointing.

My partner and I recently dined here and the food was phenomenal! My partner is quite the picky eater so I was initially worried about the selection on the menu, but the dish she ordered she ate every pick of it so no complaints from her I had the Chicken Supreme, and it was so tender and easy to eat. The only nitpicking I would have was the vegetables were a tad undercooked for my liking, but I wouldn’t let this affect the review as it is just personal preference. The service was outstanding, extra points to Miriam who went above and beyond to obtain us a cocktail menu from across the hotel and was attentive to every part of our evening Thank you!

Visited on Saturday for a meal with a young friend. Both ordered steak sandwich with hand cut chips. Steak was served cool and hand cut (??) chips just about cooked. Visited causerie recently and while the food was nice enough, one particular waiter was so rude when we queried the bill! The waitress had not fully explained the pre theatre menu if not drinking alcohol and we were under the impression we were getting a deal with a soft drink instead as we had done so in October 2021! When we politely queried the bill, the waiter was so rude to us. We were going to opera house after and it definitely put a dampner on it! So many more nicer restaurants in Belfast to spend your money with a nicer atmosphere and more professional staff!

The food here was fantastic. I got the hake which was beautifully cooked. And my boyfriend got the squid which was beautiful. The food is really great quality. But one thing this restaurant lacks in is the service. Its not that anyone was rude or anything but there was just not enough staff to cover the customers. In a restaurant with the price tag this has you would expect the beautiful food and service. The staff were lovely however were run off their feet. We ordered a drink and you could tell the waiter already had a lot of orders and ended up forgetting. I felt he was under pressure to cover so many tables. This restaurant could be 5star if management were to invest in staff a little more and put more people on to cover tables. This would take the service to top class.

We ate here with the other members of our tour and we all had a good dinner. Setting is clean and modern. Service was good, as well as the food. All staff were cordial and Miriam actually went out of her way to get my decaf cappuccino. For starters, members of the group chose the carrot and lentil soup, and the confit of duck leg, which actually was a piece of roasted chicken thigh. For main courses, people chose the Cranbrooke roast turkey, the slow cooked sirloin (very tender and tasty), and the Pan Seared Salmon filet (a large moist piece). For desserts we tried the toffee caramel cake with caramel sauce and ice cream and the chocolate sponge cake with ice cream. Everyone enjoyed dinner and left satisfied. A good evening.

Dry chicken (salt & Chilli) were just awful. We asked for some bread - fairly standard in a restaurant & they brought us defrosted thick sliced pan bread!!!Our kids ordered pizza’s off the kids menu, two tiny slices of which was obviously frozen pizza were given to kids, it said on menu flat bread pizza, they were anything but....we found it hard to hide our shock! Three of us had the fish & chips which were ok. The only redeeming feature were the friendly staff, very disappointed & wish we had gone to one of the other local restaurants. We both decided to order a Glenarm Shorthorn Burger and at £14 for each of them we assumed they would be lovely. I have to say the presentation was beautiful, the chips came in like an old fashioned mug. Really quaint. However, a couple of bites into the burger I got a bit of gristle in my mouth, certainly not what I would have expected. It turned out it wasn't the only bit. My husband got the same and We definitely don't want to see a burger again for a long time. A glass of wine was ordered and it never came. The restaurant was getting busy so we didn't persue it. Not very busy on the weeknight we visited, to the extent that it felt a bit lifeless. Service was o.k., but nothing special. Same for the food, extensive enough menu, but not awe inspiring. Overall, we might use again for a pre-theatre meal, but probably not for anything else.

We had lunch here quite by accident . But what a good choice it was ! We were the only people in the restaurant but our waiter was most attentive & courteous without being intrusive or overbearing . We both chose the same dish from the menu & again what a good choice we made . The chicken curry with vegetable pilau rice was superb, with big chunks of chicken , vegetables & a delicious creamy sauce , which there was plenty of , with just the right amount of spice . We both agreed it was one of the best curries we have had in a hotel restaurant in a long time . Compliments to the chef !

Visited the Causerie whilst on a recent business trip, could not fault the food it was excellent. There is a wonderful ambience in the restaurant, the decor is very tasteful with a touch of luxury. Service was very slow, we waited an eternity for someone to take our order. There was also an extensive wait between courses which was difficult to understand as the restaurant was not overly busy.

We decided quite late on in the evening just to dine in the hotel. Seated quickly. Good choice on the menu. I had the sausages and mash and my partner had the burger. Both came fairly quickly and were delicious. We shared a peanut butter cheesecake for dessert which we both enjoyed. We thought the food was fairly priced but the drinks were expensive. As there was no Bombay Sapphire gin I was recommended the Shortcross and Fever tonic. Beautiful glass, nicely presented but it was rotten. Had to get my partner to drink it. Had to ask twice for a jug of water. Happy to use the restaurant as we were guests of the hotel but probably wouldn't choose to go there for a meal.

We booked for Pre-Theatre Dinner. Staff very helpful on booking and arrival. Food was pleasant but not as good as what we were expecting. The main problem was that service was very slow for a Pre-Theatre sitting. We noticed this when we arrived. We waited for order to be taken. We waited for drinks. We noticed other tables were checking their watches too. Laid back service and atmosphere is fine unless you are eating ahead of going to the Theatre. We only had time for one course which was disappointing as the starters and dessert choices looked good. Finally in comparison to other restaurants in Belfast (and even given it's a hotel restaurant) it was expensive for what it was.

I went a weekend to Belfast with the family and we stayed in the Europa Hotel. On Saturday night we had our dinner in the hotel restaurant, The Causerie. The staff was very busy preparing the table for breakfast on the following morning and we had to ask repeated times for bread and water. They were more preoccupied in finish early with the breakfast tables rather than serving us.And the food, we had the Caesar Salad with chicken which was tasteless and very dry, and the cheese board had many flies around. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, there are a lot of thing that can be improved starting by how the food is being cooked.

A mixed age group of 9 of us enjoyed dinner at the Causerie before seeing the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time at the Opera House next door. Our experience was superb - friendly, efficient service of excellent food in a stylish, spacious restaurant (great design with granite table tops no less). The maitre d' even opened the side door for us to make it easier for my wife (who has MS and finds walking distances difficult) to get over to the theatre. Top notch.

We had hoped to stay in the Europa Hotel but it was booked out. However on arrival in Belfast we booked a table for dinner there that evening and we were not disappointed.I opted for the breaded mushroom caps as a starter and they were very good. My wife opted for the Chicken Caesar Salad and was very pleased with it also. For main courses I plummed for the vegetable pie with sage cream and sweet potato chips - full marks for this vegetarian option which was excellent - really tasty, nice light pastry and very different. My wife went for a dish of Northern Ireland Sausage which looked great - served on a bed of buttery champ with cider and raisin gravy. For good measure there were onion rings also - a great dish which she thoroughly enjoyed. We often skip desert but this time we were spoiled for choice and ordered both the apple creme brulee and the cherry vanilla roulade - both were very good.We found the restaurant staff to be friendly, helpful and attentive. This was a truly positive dining experience and we were delighted that we did it.It is not cheap but it still represents value for money - if you can't be good to yourself once in a while its a poor lookout!

This was our third outting to The Causerie. My partner and I decided to take my mum and her sister for mums birthday. We where shown to out table as soon as we arrived (a window seat so my aunt has lived in England for 53 years could have a wee nosey outside). I loved the menu as its quite small, but with a great choice! Having ordered drinks we had a look at the menu. Mum, my aunt and my partner ordered the rump of Irish lamb with chive mash and spring veg. I ordered the 8oz club steak sandwich with causeway chips! The lamb was cooked the way everyone asked as was my steak! Dinner was devine!! I enjoyed every mouthful! The chips where gorgeous. Nice and thick and not too many! We all agreed dinner was outstanding! We don't normally do dessets but as it was mums birthday we decided to have one. Mum had apple crème brulee, my aunt, cherry vanilla meringue roulade, my partner, the flourless chocolate torte and I had ice cream!!! All the desserts came out and looked fantastic and tasted sooo good!!! They where really well presented too!Richard and his staff where amazing, as usual!! So nice and friendly! Couldn't do enough for us! Love coming to this restaurant!! I tell everyone who is wanting to go somewhere special for dinner to go! Can't wait until my next visit! Ten out of ten!!!

We ate here a couple of times during our stay at the Europa. Breakfast buffet was exceptional and I would recommend it. Dinner was also good. service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant manager, Richard Adams, seemed sincerely interested in his restaurant providing good food and service. He went above and beyond on a couple of our requests. recommended

My boyfriend and I had dinner here as part of a weekend hotel package. The hotel stay was disappointing but the restaurant is in a league of it's own.We were warmly greeted on arrival and seated near the window with a view of Great Victoria Street. Drinks order was also taken quickly and we browsed the menu. We started with the Salt & Chili chicken. When it arrived we were surprised at the size of the portion - perfect for both of us to share and the chicken was really flavoursome. For our mains I had the scampi and my boyfriend had a burger with extra bacon and onion rings. The scampi was lovely. It came in a cute paper cone and the hand cut chips came in a little mini frying basket. The scampi batter was light and crispy and the chips were tasty. It also came served with tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. My boyfriend's burger looked really nice too, with two large onion rings stacked on it as well as all the trimmings of bacon, cheese and salad along with a good serving of chips. He likes his grub a lot and struggled to finish it.For dessert I had the chocolate torte with fresh cream and he had the creme brulee. The torte was quite rich and delicious with a big dollop of fresh cream and cut up strawberries with orange couli. The creme brulee looked to be nicely done and my boyfriend really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and we felt really well looked after. We'll definitely come back here again.

We were disappointed with this restaurant—we sat at our table for 10 or 15 minutes before being offered so much as a drink and had to end up flagging down a server ourselves. Though nothing lacked in presentation, the food itself was generally disappointing. The Irish Scampi was good, as was the burger, but the roasted salmon was plain and the chowder was merely decent. The food was expensive but did not yield satisfaction for the money spent. Also, the decor of the restaurant represented it well: weak and poorly executed.

Very disappointed with the food!! We both got a 3 course meal. I started with the boneless BBQ ribs- tasted as if I was just eating fat and the portion size was very small. For Mains we both got sirloin steaks. Steak itself had no flavour. We asked for pepper sauce which the waiter forgot to bring out the 1st time. The sauce that came out was watery, not even fit to be called pepper sauce. Sides were not included but I ended up getting Causeland chips. Basically, they weren't chips, just potatoes cut a hexagon shape and put into the oven. No flavour again. For desert I had the ice cream slider. The staff had actually forgotten our desert order so we had to wait 20 minutes before they remembered us. The size of desert that came out wasn't worth waiting for. I've given 2 out of 5 as the staff we met were very friendly. Meal was very disappointing though!

Four of us ate here on a Saturday evening (pre-theatre menu 5.00 - 6.30). There was an offer of 2 courses and tea/coffee for £17 or you could pick other items not included in the offer which were also reasonably priced. All the food was well-presented and the service courteous.

We dined at the restaurant on 21/2. The menu was very extensive with plenty of choice. We were seated in a booth which added to the experience. Our meal was very enjoyable . The standard, quality and presentation of food was very good. The customer experience was also very good. A special mention to Jabaar who went out of his way to ensure that all of our needs were catered for as well as ensuring that my mum's special dining requirements were fully met. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and certainly won't be the last! Well done to Jabaar and all the team. Looking forward to returning .

We had a meal at the Causerie as we were staying at the Europa hotel. The meals were very expensive, especially for what you got. The meals came out in little ramekins (which only held a few spoonfuls). There were only a couple of tables in and yet the staff did not seem interested in serving us. The meal itself was quite tasty, but very disappointing overall.

I chose the Europa as it was close to the opera house and the pre theatre menu was a reasonable price. Visited with my mum last night 16th Jan and initial impressions were good as the setting of the restaurant was pleasant. The place had a few tables in so there was a good atmosphere but it was by no means busy. My mum is gluten free so we enquired when seated about what she could have from the theatre menu and were told the burger without the bap and maybe the curry, they would need to check. Poor selection but mum decided on the burger. 25 mins after ordering we were starting to worry about making the show in time. I asked a member of staff to check on our food as it had been quite a wait. A few minutes later it arrived without any apology. Mums burger was very disappointing, didn't look homemade and no effort had been made with the presentation. A plain burger plonked on the plate which was very unappetising! The chips served were also very pale and undercooked. I had the curry which was ok and we both had the chocolate torte which was enjoyable. This was again after staff had to go away and check what was suitable for mum. I believed that restaurants now had to have information available with regards to special dietary requirements yet nothing was marked on the menus and the staff were clueless. This does not make for a pleasant dining experience. To top things off the bill was incorrect as it was not put through as the pre theatre meal even though we had mentioned it when ordering both the food and the wine which was included. There are plenty of better places to eat in town and with the slow and lacklustre service, and mediocre food, I will not be returning any time soon.

We had a lovely dinner here on a Tuesday Night, the service was amazing (they very kindly catered to our many requests, like what table we wanted to sit at or changing food orders) and the food was lovely; well presented, delicious and timely. We were originally put off by some of the reviews but ultimately are glad we went.

We visited as a group of three on a Friday afternoon, for a late lunch. The restaurant was deserted, and our arrival meant we were the only customers. My salmon was beautifully cooked and the risotto on which it sat, was perfect, although we had a slightly longer wait than we'd expected. The staff were polite but during the meal, we weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks and no staff were visible. After a longish wait in anticipation of the food, we ran of refreshments not long after the food had arrived. And then upon paying there was a further delay as there was no til ready. We had to be given out change at reception in the lobby. The staff member who was dealing with the bill was apologetic, but for an expensive restaurant within a hotel standards should be higher.

It was supposed to be a fully dressed classic cheese burger. I wasn’t expecting a gourmet burger but when you compare to what they’re advertising, it’s night and day. It tasted ok. But the poor tomato felt a bit lonely. I think they could do with spending a few more seconds dressing the burgers properly.
