Been here a few times now and its beenbeautiful every time . Freshly cooked , servers lovley good size and good price , will defo be back

I went in this lunchtime for Sausage & Chips. There was a big queue, and the two guys serving were sinking fast. They'd got a previous customers order wrong, and were struggling to resolve it, while still trying to deal with the rest of the queue. There was an older lady frying, who was randomly asking if anyone wanted fish, although not actually doing anything. When I finally got served, It was all a bit 'slap dash' and almost thrown at me, with no salt and vinegar. The chips were dry and rubbery, and the sausage had an odd metallic taste. Very grim indeed.

Phoned in advance, as I was late at work, was told was okay if I got there before 20:30. Got there 10 minutes before closing, only to be told by Ted the fryer that he couldn't be arsed putting a fish in as it would add 10 minutes to his day. When I asked if he was joking he gave me unbelievable attitude. Totally unacceptable behaviour (even the young lad at the till looked embarrassed). Would have left there and then but nothing else was open. Begrudgingly gave me a battered sausage which had been out for ages and some cold undercooked chips. last time I'll ever use that place and I suggest if the owners care about their business they'd have words with Ted about is terrible attitude. Just terrible.

Moved from west yorkshire 5yrs ago, we lived in Beverley and Kingswood. Moved to Newport brough 3mth ago, passing the catch fish and chip shop a few times. Today we decided to try the fish and chips. When entering the shop, I was asked small or large fish decided on small fish. Glad I did as it was plenty big enough. Best fish and chips by far. Me and my husband Really enjoyed the food. Nothing come close to what we have eaten today.

Highly recommended. Been several times. Always excellent. Best fish and chips in East Yorkshire. People travel from miles around because of quality.

Extremley clean and tidy, fantastic little chip shop. Food tastes gorgeous, fresh fish and the batter is lovely! Patties are full of flavour and the portion sizes are perfect. We are regular customers. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

Live local and I have been a regular customer the last twice I have been whilst waiting for my order I noticed behind the counter was not clean old food stains not wiped clean and the door to the prep room was open and that looked in need of a good clean. Having worked in a fish shop in my younger days after each session everything has to be cleaned. The shop had just opened when I got there so it should have been clean I shan’t return

The chip shop has ample parking, the place is really clean, the menu is very varied but most importantly the fish and chips I had were excellent.

Was passing through last night Lovely & tasty fresh fish & chips to order. Friendly staff too Love that they ask if wanting wedge of lemon & tartar sauce batter was great best we tasted for a while. 😊👍

Definitely the best fish and chips you’ll find without driving out to the coast, if not the best anywhere! Friendly staff and outdoor seating if the sun’s out too!

We have been telling friends how good The fish and chips are from the Catch that they insisted on coming to our house for lunch so we/they could prove it. So 6 turned up and I went and ordered 6 times and my guests were wowed by what we refer to as the F & C. Cooked to order and so piping hot. Crisp fresh line caught fish. CASH ONLY. TAKE OUT ONLY

Take away only. Despite cooking for you as you order what you need as soon as you go in and it is prepared for you a very quick turn around. Pleasant quick staff. At the moment cash only. No big deal but be aware.

Fresh fish, cooked to order, great fluffy chips. Excellent sides of Curry, Gravy and Peas. Regularly drive 8 Miles to this place. The best takeaway Fish and Chip shop in East Yorkshire. Friendly staff, covid secure serving. Last Night's visit was, as always, excellent. Sat on one of the few tables outside as it was a mild Evening. The Catch has car parking behind the premises and is located alongside the local village pub if you also fancy a beverage. Also other staple food choices available, all to the same standard. Cannot recommend enough. This from a Fish and Chip fanatic!!

With the lock down I have not been able to visit The Catch, and have tried local Fish & Chips where I live but they were no where near as good as you get here. The Fish batter is crisp the chips are great not hard or stale. I called on the way back from Beverley Races, I really enjoyed the quality. Looking forward to my next visit in 2 weeks.

Had haddock, cod and chips. Delicious, absolutely delicious. On holiday at the lovely caravan site in south cave and saw this place as we went past. The chips were unbelievable, not sure what they were cooked in, but they were fantastic. Beautiful bits of fish covered in crispy, yet light batter. If we lived here we'd be in.the Catch far too often!!

Having the Catch as a close neighbour is a great asset to have. Whilst we do not use them regularly we can rely on the fish and chips, patties, pies and sauces being first class.

Fish covered in a crunchy, golden batter and served with a good portion of chips. Parking at the back of the shop and a pub adjacent. What is there not to like?

The pub next door had stopped serving food but we were able to sit outside anyway and still eat the chips. the food was fresh and tasty. great location for a chippy!

This is the best chipshop in the area the fish is cooked beautifully as is all the other items. Batter is tasty and more importantly crunchy Ted is an excellent fish fryer. The staff are lovely and always have a laugh mainly at Ted's expense which makes him grumpy. But uts a great family chipshop that I look forward to visiting even with facemasks on

We've had multiple takeaway from here, but the quality of the food, size of the portions and overall value for money, have been dropping steadily, the last time which WILL BE the last we had fish so old and stale, it was brown & rubbery, the batter wet & greasy, The stingy portion of chips where cold and limp, despite us living 2mins away

Absolutely beautiful tasty just had big foot sausage with chips curry mushies out this world very very filling worth the storm to go for it and worth the money well spent thanks xx

It is the best fish and chip shop that I have found anywhere in this area. Like any plaice (!) it can't be 100% perfect all the time as they are relying on the supply of good ingredients but as far as I am concerned it is absolutely vital to support the shop and it's great to have it in the village.

Decided to take a chance to see if this so called fish and chip shop had improved. Not a cat in hell's chance. Greasy Tasteless. Even the free tubs of tartare sauce were rank. The free carrier bag says it is the nation's favourite food. If that is the case then this so called fish and chip shop has killed it.

Fish and Chips is just amazing, massive portions,brilliant staff . Thank you so much for compensation and treat for our family. We really needed one at this time. We definitely come back in future. All the best××××

I've been here twice in the last few months and both times disappointed. Large fish is lots of batter and very little fish with cold chips. Shan't return.

Visited here for the 1st time this week. Excellent service, 2 servers were very pleasant. We bought 4 Fish & Chips, 3 were very good, although 1 of the fish looked like 2 bits of very small fish put together so it looked like 1 fish, which was a bit disappointing. We will try again just in case it was a one off.

We have called twice now on the way back from the coast.Both times the food was spot on.The place looks very clean and staff polite and friendly.First time I got regular portion. The fish was huge and too much for me. Delicious never the less.This time got a small portion just a perfect amount.Everything is cooked fresh to order. Not heavy and greasy like you get from some places.Some of, if not the best fish and chips I have ever had.

A fresh of breath in the Chippie front, tucked away in the village of North Cave behind the white heart pub, serving a fair selection of cooked to order, with ample of road parking and even a couple of benches outside.... Great food pleasant staff...

called here mainly because my grandson was hungry, had fish chips and curry sauce it was lovely. Woud`nt like to say if they are the best fish and chips i`ve had but they must well in the top 5. Service was excellent staff were great well worth a visit

friendly staff served witha smile and a chat...the fish is done to order so be prepared for a few minutes wait and thats how it should be... the cod &batter; was good that i decided to have a second portion with a pint of guinness from the pub.....price was right (£17 in Amsterdam!!!}definetly go back next time i m in the aerea worth taking a diversion Gio

On holiday with friends and called in here for fish and chips. Great fish and chips from this very clean chip shop.

We have tried this fish and chip shop a couple of times in last few months and been satisfied. Ordered large cod which they didn’t have settled for haddock. The fish was not a large portion and the chips were anaemic, undercooked lukewarm and soggy. If we lived a bit closer would have returned them and asked for refund or replacement.wont be returning.

When it first opened this was a good fish and chip shop that we went to quite regularly. In recent months the quality of the fish has declined and on our last (and final) visit last week the size of the small fish we were served was laughable/disgraceful (see picture to judge for yourself) and for the price we paid a complete rip off. The 'fish' was basically a slither that had been sliced off another fish and was basically just batter. If it hadn't meant a 15 minute car journey back to the shop we would have taken it back. Sadly we will not be returning.

We recently called here after a day out on the east coast. We know some really good fish and chip shops around the area but thought we would give this a try after reading some good reviews. We ordered 2 lightly battered large cod to go with the chips and peas. These were cooked to order and when i saw mine in the carton i had to ask the lady serving if this was the large cod, she said yes it was.

Always been happy with large fish even though £4.70 always been worth it. However the fish is now shrinking in size but not the price! They said they came in smaller but why still charge for large if not to standard. If this is new size at high price we will go elsewhere.

Not only did they over charge me at the van which i pointed out, I ordered a standard well done fish and chips when I got home it was a small and very under done. Shame as if it had been cooked for longer it would of been really nice.

Myself and My partner regularly come to The Catch for some delicious Fish and Chips. The staff are friendly, always have a smile on their face and the prices are good. The quality of the food is brilliant, the batter is never soggy, really crispy and same with the chips. I would defiantly recommend visiting the catch, it is perfect to visit on the way home from the coast, with a lovely little pub next door, you can have a pint and a chippy in the sun!

My family and I regularly use this fish and chip shop. We have been happy all the food we have had from there, not just the fish and chips. The fish is fresh and cooked to order. The staff are very pleasant and some even have friendly banter with us. The shop itself is always clean. There is complimentary tartar sauce and lemon if required.

Actually tea time disgusting would be more like it. Last visit was awful but things can always get better. Unfortunately for the Catch this doesn't work. How they can say the fish is fresh beats me. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND. Never again.

Well we have been a regular customer her for about 3 months and always found the service and quality very good, however on this occasion this was not the case.

Great fish and chips at great prices. And people especially like that The Catch has taken the initiative to visit local villages on a regular weekly schedule. I live in Gilberdyke, a few miles from their hone base in North Cave, and every Thursday night, there they are set up in the War Memorial Hall car park, with anywhere from five to fifteen people queuing up. Kudos to The Catch.

Always call here after attending Beverley Races day meetings, everything is cooked to order the fish is always white and flaky nice batter and crisp chips. Even tried their pies which are also very tasty. Unfortunately Beverley is over for the season roll on April when we can visit again. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful.

Good chippy - always use it for Easter when family are around. Fresh fish, good chips, free tartare sauce. Does what it says.

We were on our way back from the coast and stumbled on this fantastic little chippy. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. I think the chef was called Sharon or Shannon, not too sure but she cooked our fish fresh to order, we had the cod. Amazing sized portions, huge fish, plenty of chips with peas and a cup of tea. Clean and reasonably priced, this is a must visit PLAICE . You will not be disappointed the guys went above and beyond to help us and were very friendly.

We often pop in for a treat & this place is a hidden gem. We ring ahead with our order, which is then waiting for our arrival, always freshly cooked to order & always absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend!

Just had fish and chips from mobile van in south cave belonging to the catch. Food from fish shop in north cave not to bad but from the mobile seriously needs rethinking. This used to be reasonably quite good but is now reasonably quite rubbish. The owner needs to rethink his ethos on van or shop not both. Fresh fish would be nice!!!

Lovely light batter, chips cooked just right, little pricey compared to others but well worth it! Plus you get free tartar sauce and they take telephone orders!

This local chippy is not to be overlooked; its combination of delicious food, excellent service and easy accessibility makes it really worth a visit. Would definitely recommend!

we travel from the midlands frequently to visit relatives who live near Driffield and each time stop off here for fish and chips we plan our trip so we are passing through here at opening time We have never been disappointed the fish is always fresh tasting the chips delicious and the tartar sauce is a real treat to have would highly recommend the place

Have been meaning to call here on the way back from Beverley Races but it was always a little tricky to park at the busy time of day until I found there was a car park outside the shop. I have been twice now and the Fish is excellent cooked to order with nice batter, and the chips are nice and not greasy. The staff are very pleasant and helpful you get your order in box which keeps it warm. They also serve hot drinks as well. I was amazed that the forks and Hollandaise sauce is free. The shop is very clean, even stools to sit on while you wait for your order. This is an excellent place to call. we will be back

Popped in on our way home from the coast and may definitely continue to take a detour so can stop again. The fish is all prepared to order to perfectly hot, the chips were good and we had a big foot and chips (large sausage!). Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Fish and chip shop.

Superb fish and chips to takeaway from a modern, brightly lit and very clean unit behind the White Hart Pub. Scraps, mushy peas and pickled eggs all available to top off any dish.

Dropped by twice while we were in the area for a wedding and both times, the fish n chips were just spot on. Got talking to local fryer Ted who was just a top bloke. He was telling me about how haddock is used up in the north and why it's a great fish as well as introducing me to scraps. So good! I'm originally from Melbourne, Australia and was describing potato cakes (sliced potato discs in batter) to Ted and he just made some for me. You couldn't ask for more from a local fish n chippery and if I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely drop by to say g'day to Ted and to grab some fish n chips.

Came across this little diamond of a fish and chip shop on the way home from Brid. Fresh, hot fish and chips available to eat instantly on a lovely outside pic nic benches. Will definitely be coming back.

Have been three times now and they have been good each time. Served in a sturdy box, peas are good and love the free tartar sauce touch. We've stopped here for tea at the start and also the end of a journey - a much better option than any services en route.

Friendly, happy staff who are happy to chat while you wait for fish to be cooked. They told us they cook in beef fat - not great news for our veggie daughter who then couldn't eat anything :-(

Called about 5pm Good Friday to order food for family meal for 7 people.The shop was very busy but well staffed.The fish was excellent & the chips were amazing!Would recommend if in the area try The Catch-you will not be disappointed!

It was average. There was a funny taste to the fish and chips. They weren't good nor bad. Service and offer was good. Happy friendly staff.

So glad that I spotted the sign whilst traveling through North Cave. Excellent fish and chips lovely and fresh and hot, I just had the small portion which was excellent value at £4.60 and the lovely friendly staff offered scraps (batter bits) and tartar sauce which I gladly accepted both. Whilst sat in the car eating them I noticed that they had plenty of takers from passing traffic. I wish you well in your new business and will call again when passing. Thanks for a fabulous meal

Good tasty fish, cooked well, served in the boxes free tarta sauce if needed. Nice gesture free lollipops on counter for the children. Handy to stop off when you're running late.

I have passed this lovely little village for ever and was pleasantly surprised to come across the catch fish shop hidden away behind a lovely little old English pub so then I popped in for fish n chips they were cooked to perfection in real Beef dripping? They even give you a free pot of tartar sauce amazing service very clean fish shop with wonderful staff

Having passed through North Cave on at least a weekly basis for the past 7 years and never having seen a Fish and Chip shop it was a pleasant surprise when a few months ago a sign appeared on the main street pointing to a shop. Having promised ourselves to give it a try we eventually called to have a look. I am always on my guard a little when going to places I have not visited before so the first call was really just to have a look. I went in to be greeted by a very pleasant lady who took my order. I thought I would just try a bag of chips on the first visit. Had so many expensive mistakes in the past so a bag of chips is no great loss if they dont come up to scratch. Whilst I waited I had a good look round. (The kitchen and prep area are fully visible from the counter so nothing hidden.) To cut it short I will just say that the 5 star score on the door is well deserved. Place is spotless. The lady explained that the shop had only been open for 5 months but from what I saw they seem to have built up a steady customer base already which is a good sign. The chips when I got them were perfect. So much so that the next day we went back for the full meal. What a treat. Lovely fresh fish well cooked and nice dry crisp chips. Perfection. A real treat in an area where we have found it difficult so far to find a really good fish and chip shop. Highly recommended. We will be going there whenever we get the chance in future. Top class. Well done the owners.
