Haddock was a good size and fried perfectly. Good chip portion, again fried well, without surplus oil. Chose to eat in. Pleasant and efficient service. No hesitation to recommend and will definitely visit again.

Very disappointed. Ordered two large cod ( more sized like a regular) fish cake and chips. No salt and vinegar even though was requested. Chips were hardly warm and the fish was really greasy. Very overpriced for what we got and won't be back again. Ruined a pair of my jeans with the amount of grease that ran through the box. Originally thought it was vinegar but can't be as they didn't even do that.

First time for ages had fish and chips here. Absolutely top resteraunt quality. Quick and hot, quick service Lovely meal. Can’t wait to ruthenium and eat again.

Most disgusting chip shop ever. i ordered cod and chips and it costed me over £12 for that, without a drink!, chips were soggy and undercooked. Cod was just oily and mainly batter hardly any fish. i heard inappropriate comments from a big man who was frying my food, towards the youngsters round the front, they didn’t look like they wanted to be here. i will not be returning to this chip shop ever again disgusting food and disgusting behaviour from older staff.

Great chip shop always busy, even though busy you never have to wait long for your food. Good price & good portions , not greasy.

Have been using them (under various names) for many years, but now prices are well up,plus portion sizes well down, time to try somewhere else!

We on holiday in the area and just wanted a quick supper so we opted for fish and chips but what a place . Firstly we went to the counter to order and when one of the staff could be bothered to ask us what we would like with a can't be bothered and slow attitude no eye contact at all, I could have been some one famous and none of the staff would have noticed . When the fish and chips where finally ready they where , dry ,bland , sad grey coloured Haddock and sticky rubbery batter no taste whats so ever . Thank goodness for HP sauce and mayonniase , The owner needs to do some serious customer service training with the staff , also need a new chef ! if the staff was not serving with just stood talking or clear the few tables they had to " eat in "clearing one or to things at a time so painful to watch -- NEVER again

Good variety on the menu , something for everyone, fish was lovely, batter nice and light , chips the best I’ve had around this area, crispy on the outside light fluffy in the middle, good portion sizes and great value for money , staff very helpful and welcoming, a great happy atmosphere , will definitely return

Arrived at 8.40 to the most miserable staff in Dorset. Whilst waiting with my two young daughters,my eldest reviving a death stare from one of the cashier's whilst holding a mop. Only to receive the driest chicken breast this side of the Sahara and Grady chips. My eight year old was amazed at how small a portion she had I would suggest that if the $31.was not welcome at that time then maybe close the establishment a little earlier. Shocking for this day and age compared to our usual chipshop in pokesdown.

I’m local to Highcliffe and was sadden to read the negative reviews when looking for the opening times and menu as I have never had anything but great food. Myself, friend and two children just enjoyed a take away and have absolutely no complaints. The fish was perfectly cooked with mountains of chips. The kids meal were ample and both ate it all. For those complaining of cost, it’s well documented that the price of cod has risen along with fuel and everything else in the world right now, for 2 adults I would recommend 2 fish and one large chips this is more than enough food, we only managed half the chips. I also love the fact that The Catch have employed young people and giving them a chance to earn and learn, the service I have received has always been friendly and orders correct.

Wow! What an awful lot!! Staff only looked up briefly as each customer walked in then spent rest of the time with their back to them discussing each customer between themselves!! One young girl spent the time between scooping up chips into boxes, picking at her lip!! Disgusting ! Open boxed meals were thrown onto the counter with obvious distain and often left cooling down until someone had the idea to close the boxes!!! Never again!! Avoid!! Food was OK but not worth the level of customer service you get! Staff are hard to come by, I agree but this lot will turn customers away in their droves!!

Great if you don’t mind waiting while staff stand around. Chips were ok, but not when boxed up and casually thrown on to the counter with an attitude of disgust.

Would be nice if the staff gave you eye contact. I know it’s Monday but I’ve never seen such a miserable lot. And as for the chips obviously yesterday’s left over batch. Terrible.

Compared to other fish and chips shops this was decidedly mediocre. Indeed it all felt a bit unloved; the chips were quite plain and the batter on the fish had no flavour and no crisp. It was one of those fish and chips where you NEED to dollop on the ketchup and tartare sauce. The cooking on the fish was also inconsistent; some of the party had an almost wet batter - it needed more frying. Tis a pity but I wouldn’t return.
