Used a couple of times now and can't fault it. The fish is really nice and the chips are battered but not greasy. Hard to find a good chippy lately and I'm only sorry I didn't find this place sooner.

It's an OK chip shop...the owner just talks to much and is passive aggressive...I'm actually spending my hard earned cash with you...realise that.

masalla fish cooked to perfection, chips nice and warm and not oily, pie nice, small fish could have done with being a bit more crispy. Would definitely order again 👍

Food was cold and chips were like rubber. Needed a magnifying glass to see any batter on them! They tasted awful and you could tell they had been fried in old oil. Almost broke a tooth on the rock hard crusty chip edges. Sausage batter so thin it looked anaemic. Also tasted awful and were cold. Will not be ordering from here again.

Beautiful Large Fish ! Great Chippy ! Lovely to still have a family run chippy with great service, I've used this chippy for years & the food is always amazing, we don't live far so the food was still hot & fresh. Kebab was delicious & the salad was fresh.

Considering this is the chip shop we normally order from, I have never been so disappointed in the food. The Donna meat was cold almost as if it was chilled. It had also cooled down the chips that were in the tray with it. The Southern fried chicken made up for it at least we had something to eat that we could enjoy.

Delicious food cooked wonderfully by the chippy . No mess up on my order or waiting around. The delivery driver was very polite and professional throughout. Will 100% order from this marvellous business again. Thank you.

Really disappointed. The 'battered chips' have never been 'battered' in a month of Sundays. Greasy, chewy and flavourless. As hungry as we were, we had to leave most of them. The 'large' fish was medium-sized at best. On a positive note, the donner wrap was very tasty. Nice, fresh salad on it. Generally, what a waste of £30.

Bad points: Chips were horrible and dry, fishcake, fish, and battered sausage were all overcooked Good points: Roe's, chicken nuggets, scallop and pies were nice, delivery was 10 mins early and delivery driver was lovely and polite

These chips were rough!.. burned and inedible, looked dark, they tasted dark and they were just dark!.. they hardly had anything that looked edible in the whole place..Hardly open aswell, they need reporting for food hygiene because they are nasty..Donor meat and especially the chicken looked like it had been there for week disgusting!... Go check! 🤮 Bad guts now

Really disappointing. Chips tasted awful. Had to throw them away. Tatsted like they were fried in chemicals. Fish was ok. Definitely was not worth the money. Positives Lovely delivery driver and on time. But will never use again.

Usually order fish and chips quite often and always amazing this time ordered kebab for a change and it was like mush I’ve just had to bin it chips were fine on one portion but really greasy think I will have to look for a new place to order from now on

This sadly was not good at all masalah fish was so over cooked could not eat it had some from middle but it was hard and not enjoyable at all the donner meat was so cold might as well be frozen... chips where decent all we eaten sadly and the salad...

The chips were really bad - they were hard and dried out and tasted like they'd been sat under a heat lamp. The vinegar also tasted funny. Really disappointed because the food from here is usually good.

Very uncomfortable people, ask personal questions. Food was tooo over priced, it’s okay when the quality is proportional to the price however here it wasn’t. Same chippy as any other, price almost double. Maybe that’s why they are so quite.

Not happy with delivery and good wasn't the best

I would recommend this place to anyone. In our opinion this is the best chippy around. The food always arrived piping hot well wrapped and cooked to perfection. Each item is wrapped separately , fish is put in a box to stop the batter from sticking to the paper. The delivery drivers are always friendly as are all the staff.

As a regular returning costomer this place is the only place we come to for our chippy. pies and chicken always delightful orange chips just right. Deffinetly reccomend xx

Personally I don't think the few negative reviews below me mean much to be honest, just my opinion this is about the 3rd time we've ordered from Castle Fryer after my brother ordered for us the 1st time and believe me we've never tasted more beautiful chips in all our life and I don't even like chips most of the time. Burgers were absolutely spot on so tasty, definitely making it our 1st choice of takeaway from now on. Delivery was really quick and the lady who delivered was friendly. In the words of my fiance 'Dudleys done something right!'

This order was very bad. We ordered sausage and chips. Chips not cooked and still hard mixed with some that had clearly been done a while and left. The sausage had clearly been left under the heat lamp far too long. Very dry and not at all nice

My favourite chippy gone right downhill last 4 orders ( 2 months) don’t know what’s happened but won’t be ordering from here again. Chips like rubber. Fish didn’t seem fresh. I’ve left a review here before giving it all 5 stars and was proper good food. Shame.

I ordered food from here and I have some complaints about some of the food: The pitta bread was rock hard couldn’t eat it really. There was barely any mint sauce on the large lamb kebab in pitta bread. The chips in the kebab and chip special was hard and chewy. The food was smaller portions then what I had expected. If felt like the order was rushed and of poor quality.

The chips were dried out, the masala fish was burnt to a crisp... I don't think I'll be ordering from here again. The food used to be really good, don't know what's happened.

Tbf this is the worst one I have had No salt a vinegar on chips.. Partners naan bread was stuck to the paper And also came 15 minutes late.. even though I message him at 3.00pm

The fish was amazing, very nice. The burger was alright but the chicken disappointing... was looking like was double fried and had a tone of salt on. Don't try the chicken... horrible. Loved the fish and chips.
