Lovely Modern Persian Food well cooked and attentively served. Large leather banquettes and chairs not too closely arranged so you do not feel crowded in . Dark-ish décor, but intimate not imposing. A good, modest sized menu which means everything is freshly prepared on site and is very tasty. A lovely place, good for friends and families. Unassuming shop front in a suburban south London setting and a real find.

Really delicious food! Exquisite taste and we loved the 'zereshk polo', the owners are lovely family and run it beautifully. We are regular customers and I absolutely love their food and service.

i had seabass and rice. the dinner was absolutely delicious. other members of my family had the kebab and rice. they are a small friendly local business but well worth a try. the food is really good and the price isn't too expensive. they are definately a local favourite of my family in the lee green area

Went to a 70th birthday party last weekend. The food was wonderful, fresh and tasty. The service was 1st class and very attentive to everyone. A family-run restaurant and you won't be disappointed in the wonderful cuisine.

No need to write a lot. Always food is top quality and a very friendly, smiling lady is waiting there to give you the best recommendation and food.

We went to this place with friends and family for dinner. We literally ordered hajf the starters from the menu as well as lamb as bud chicken dishes for the mains. I kid you not every dish was fantastic. Absolutely divine. Well worth a visit Service was excellent

I've been to this restaurant a few times and although the food is consistently good, I find that they are hit and miss with their service. We arrived at 9.20pm to be told that the kitchen closes at 10pm - that's OK, plenty of time to cook etc. We finished our meal at around 10pm. We asked for a dessert menu but they didn't have what we wanted...that's OK too as this happens. So we asked for 2 large Baileys and was told that the restaurant was closed so we couldnt' have them. OK, even though at around 10pm when we had just finished, a family of 3 came in and ate... So, I asked for the bill. There was clearly a problem with the machine and the two ladies who were serving etc just seemed to keep disappearing. 20 minutes later and we're still waiting; they had said nothing to us apart from that the machine wasn't working at the moment; they both disappeared again. I asked if in the meantime, we could have the large Baileys that we had previously asked for...bearing in mind there were still people eating and we had now been sitting there waiting for the bill for at least 20 minutes. No, was the answer as the restaurant was closed ! Unbelievable. I like this restaurant as the food is always good, as I've said previously but the woman who runs it can come across as very rude sometimes. This isn't the first time. I've been turned away at around 9.30pm on other occasions because the kitchen is apparently closing. Their own website says that they close at 11pm. So my advice...get there at about 7pm to 8pm and you may just have enough to time to eat, drink and relax !

We were in the restaurant for our anniversary and took our baby daughter. The service was very pleasant and friendly. The food was amazing! Delicious from starter to dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant if you like Persian food 👍

Have been to caspians quite a few times over the years.....and in last couple of months at least 3 times. Great value for money the food is delicious and their homemade hot sauce is amazing. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere with a nice clean decor.

Quiet, pleasant food, relaxing atmosphere, good service. The menu is a good balance of interesting and reasonably healthy without being excessively complex or fussy. Some of the dishes are similar to a lot of eastern mediteranean cooking, others bit different. Portion sizes generous but not ridiculous. We eat there regularly.

Found this restaurant by chance. Very pleasantly surprised by the cosy restaurant with nice decor, very friendly staff and above all the delicious food. Ordered kobeida, traditional Persian dish, very succulent and tasty. Zereshk palo with chicken was also tender and nice, rice was too sweet. We shared Saffron ice cream as saw other customers enjoying it and loved it. The only downside was they do not make traditional Naan bread.

Fabulous food always and the staff are so friendly we keep come back time, and time again. Very good value for money also

He estado en muchos restaurantes que sirven este tipo de comida y debo decir que es simplemente el mejor. Tuve la combinación de un kebab de pollo y un kebab de Adana con arroz y ensalada, mi madre tenía el estofado de cordero, todos probamos los platos del otro y cada uno dijo oh, lo tendré la próxima vez. Mi marido (es bastante quisquilloso) tenía las hojas de parra rellenas para empezar, que eran muuuuy buenas y para el budín tenía el helado de baclava y azafrán, pude ver por su cara y mi renuencia a compartir que este era el mejor de todos. No puedo recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente.

An authentic menu followed by authentic flavours. A family atmosphere. High quality raw ingredients produce a reliably flavoursome experience which is fairly priced..

When entering a restaurant and immediately feel welcome, regardless of turning up minutes before the closed sign goes up, you already start to feel positive. The food is fresh, well presented and very good value for both quantity and quality. You have to love meat. Personally, I should have requested no garlic as this seems to be a baste for all meats. The restaurant is comformfortable and very clean. The background music spot on and the guys there are simply lovely.

I get the impression that this delightful restaurant in Lee may be overlooked by those heading for the over patronised Luciano's just a few doors down. Well do yourselves a favour and check this place out. Great, friendly quick service, lovely décor and fantastic food - the meat dishes are succulent and don't use cheap fatty cuts. Very reasonable prices too. All in all, a delightful experience.

This restaurant offers Persian cuisine for a modern international audience without compromising on taste - or price. By that I mean that there's a good range of Vegetarian and Vegan options and alcohol is served, which is not standard in London's Iranian restaurants in my 40 year experience, and the koobideh and jujeh kebab are as succulent as I've tasted. Try the doogh if you're not having alcohol (or even if you are) - it's good here!

Visited this place with friends tonight and is maybe the best food i have had in a long time. The food was tasty, fresh and plentiful. Very impressed with the quality and service.

My wife and I took two friends here after 1) craving some Iranian food, 2) reading great reviews online. The Caspian certainly didn't disappoint. The food is excellent (particularly the mezze) and the service was great. We've travelled down through Iran, and the food tasted just like the food we had on our travels.

I found this place recently. The food is so delicious that I keep going back every two weeks! the staff are so nice. Price is reasonable and the place is nice and clean.

Very nice food in a clean environment but the drawback is they ask you to leave at 2.30 so no leisurely lunches... shame. We could have stayed much longer.

Llegué tarde un miércoles por la noche pero realmente disfruté de la experiencia. Como aperitivo probamos pan persa y ensalada Olivieh, que estaba delicioso. Para un plato principal, mi plato de pollo tenía enormes trozos jugosos de pollo con ensalada fresca. Las porciones fueron generosas con muchas opciones, mi compañero fue por estofado de cordero. Teníamos espacio para el postre, lo más destacado, Backlava servido con un delicioso helado. Definitivamente regresaría a este establecimiento independiente.

We had a family dinner here on the recommendation of a Persian friend who is a regular. She was spot on. We enjoyed everything about it- the ambiance, the service ( this is a family run restaurant) and the food.

Pero la buena era preciosa, el pollo con arándanos agrios era muy sabroso y mi marido tenía el pollo con nueces y zumo de Granada. La próxima vez nos alojaremos más tiempo y disfrutar de un entrante y pud. El hombre que es educado y explicó la comida. Aunque la señora que sirve el bueno podría de menos sonreía. No me quitó por volver. Y leer otras críticas tratando otros platos.

Tucked away in Lee in South East London is this little gem of a restaurant.

Fuimos allí el domingo ser un cliente por 6 años. Pelo en la comida se quejaron acerca de reemplazo, pero de nuevo conseguimos un reemplazo de la tenía pelo. Yo estaba muy decepcionado porque realmente me encantó su comida. Por desgracia, esta vez me decepcionó mucho no volveré de nuevo.

We eat a lot of Persian food, and this place really does rate right at the top. Despite there being two large parties in the room on Xmas Eve the staff were friendly and helpful. Even though we didn't need assistance the best way to eat our shared sabzi o paneer was explained, which would be really helpful for beginners to Iranian food. The portion was quite big enough for two, and although taftoon bread would have been better, that served was fresh, warm and tasty. We shared a zeresh pollo and a fesenjan - delicious Persian stews. If new to Persian cuisine do try one of the specials. The kebabs look good but everyone should experience the exciting flavours of walnut and pomegranate which make the stews so delicious. And these were fantastic - sour and thrilling. Persian tea comes with its own warmer and the lump sugar is imported from Iran. Good doogh too. Oh, and don't miss the homemade saffron ice-cream with nuts and clotted cream. Such a shame there is no faloodeh in the menu. But at under £35 for two - Incredible value. This place takes some beating. We will be back.

I love this place and try to come here fairly regularly. I have also introduced other people who were unaware of just how good and reasonable it is. Lucky enough to be going back again tomorrow.....

Not too busy ,nice calm decor and good service. My starter of aubergine with walnuts was delicious and the fresh bread was a perfect accompaniment. The potatoe salad for husband was also enjoyed. His choice of Lamb Gheymeh was tender and very tasty my Zeresh Polo was nice but less tasty the rice was the dish rather than the chicken. A decent white Rhioja was reasonably priced too ...All in all a very enjoyable evening

Elegido este restaurante por casualidad por San Valentín noche. Es un lugar agradable con un personal muy servicial y un buen ambiente. El menú no es enorme, pero la comida es muy sabrosa con buenas porciones. El meze entrantes son muy buena y los platos principales están a la derecha. No es una gran lista de vinos pero estábamos contentos con un buen chianti. En general fue una buena elección y lo recomendaría para una reunión informal juntos. Darle una oportunidad para algo diferente. No curvar su relación tarjeta de crédito superior. *****

We live very near to Caspian, so visit regularly, and have never been disappointed, I don't eat red meat so they always make which ever dish I request and use chicken instead! The staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. They get a lot of Iranian families going in, so that should speak volumes!

Been twice. For snacks, it was actually really great (meze!). Service was top notch then too. Not sure why this isn't busier.. But then I went back for dinner a few weeks later and it was really disappointing; just heaps of rice and below-par salad. Staff kept pressuring us to leave as well which was really annoying as we were talking. :(

I went here for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. The food is very good - we tried the koobideh and joojeh kebab, which were great. Portions are on the large side and it is value for money.

Been with friends last year and the next platter was to die for also great staff and the pomegranate wine was one of the best wines I've ever tasted.

Went with the family (2 adults 2 kids)on a Sunday evening... Food was good and the service excellent... We started with the mixed meze and some bread. The dips were excellent for mains me and the wifey shared the platter for two which was more than adequate... Highly recommended and would definitely visit again

Excellent Iranian food at very reasonable prices. Wonderfully tender and tasty kebabs and rich stews - strongly spiced but not hot,full of exotic combinations such as walnut and pomegranate. Only downsides were service was friendly but a little slow and wine list very limited.

We found this place on trip advisor. Food and service is amazing. We have three starter and two mains which was enough food. The smoke aubergine starter was one of the best we had ever. Highly Recommended place must try...!!!We will be back when ever we get chance. Poria is also great server.....:)

If you are a big meat eater this is the place to go. Friendly/homely/authentic service with great food/portions. I've not tasted rice anywhere better than here........ever. Very child friendly as well.

The small restaurant is elegantly decorated .the food was excellent but the service unfortunately not. The personal were slow and did not seem interested in new customers.it was clear that there were some customers who frequently visited the restaurant and they were served first and even had a little candle on their table ,which was missed at ours.The food came eventually and was placed on the table with no explanation about the cuisineThe entrance could have been protected by a curtains for as it was a cold wet evening when I attended the restaurant and every time the door opened a gush of cold wind came in too.

What a beautiful place and what tasty food!Lovely Iranian food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, ounching well above its weight in south east london.You can have a feast of just starters, succulent brochettas or really beautiful meats in sauces such as walnut, pommegranate, lemon etc.I say again - yum!

We were driving past and hadn't read or heard anything about this place and stopped on the off chance as the Italian near looked too busy. We are so very pleased we did. My husband's lamb shank was exceptional (just on Saturdays and Sundays) and the kebabs the nicest I have had for a while. We found the waiter very helpful. And the price was so reasonable. We will definitely now be coming here rather than our previous favourite kebab place.

Absolute excellent service by our waiter and excellent food. What more can you ask for. We visited on the 16th Feb on the off chance and will def recommend and come back again.

My favourite Persian restaurant in London. The food here is the most authentic Persian food you can find in London, compliments to the chef. Please maintain the high standard and don't change anything :-)

We visited here on a saturday evening and liked the atmosphere. Even though only a few tables were full - this is expected when it comes to Persian restaurants. It was clean and suitable lighting. The service was fairly prompt and polite. The starters particularly the mirza ghasemi (smokey aubergines) was very good (perhaps the best in London!). The only disappointment was the bread, traditional noon bread from the ovens would have been more suitable. Our mains followed and they were average- the meat was too dehydrated and should be more moist. We usually like to finish with faloodeh - however this is not on the menu.

We come here almost every other week. Excellent consistent quality of food. You know it's healthy when you see it. The desserts and tea are to die for. They don't seem to cope well when inundated but other than that it's a pleasure coming here so often.

Second time I've ordered a take away (pick up my self) meal and wow !! What an amazing food these people do !! The dishes are simple and uncomplicated yet the quality of the product they use and the way they cook them with such added flavour transformed my late Sunday take away to a gourmet meal that I can simply not fault. Keep the standard high the caspian.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. I've often sat in the lord northbrook and wondered what the caspian would be like. It was delicious. A really different Sunday lunch but fantastic. Will definitely look forward to my next visit.

I have tried a number of Persian restaurants over the years and have to say this is one that the whole family will always come back to. The lamb is always very good and the rice is really enjoyable. My experience of rice before was limited to Indian cuisine and British rice puddings, but now i appreciate the lightness, texture and taste. I recommend to all non Iranians give it a try.

I've been here several times, and it's always been good. I can recommend the very tender, moist chicken with cherry and pistaccio pilau,The marinated kebabs are also melt in the mouth. If you have room - and you may not as the portion sizes are huge - the mixed dip starter is great, as is the herb salad with cheese and walnuts which you stuff into a mini triangle of sesame topped warm fresh bread. They also have some nice juices - fresh watermelon was on offer on Friday, which was great. Excellent value for such high quality tastes and great service, a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and good acoustics so you can chat easily too..

Always very quiet when we visit. Food is good, but not excellent by some of London's other Persian restaurant standards and due to the sparse decor the atmosphere is slightly bland.I would recommend the walnut and pomegranate chicken for a sweet, rich and exotic dish, although I must say that I prefer this dish the traditional way with lamb. The rice is always cooked to perfection. Service is pleasant and friendly and the prices are reasonable.

We have only had food delivered from here but always exellent we have never had a bad dish or made a bad choice. It is a bit more expensive than your average take away but then the quality is above average. People need to understand you pay cheap you get cheap.

The restaurant was welcoming, the staff helpful and attentive. However the best thing was the food, especially the kebabs and then the pistachio ice cream. The cost was also very reasonable. We will be going back again.

Excellent - can't believe I have lived here for this long without going. The lamb yoghurt shish was ridiculously good, the pomegranate and pistachio rice delicious and the service really friendly (and incredibly eager to please). We didn't have dessert but they looked good. The Iranian tea was perfect- a gentle earl grey with cardamon. x

A real local gem. We loved the food so much that we've been back 3 times. It's our favourite place in the SE London area. Food is superb and very authentic feeling. Recommend the mixed starter.

Visited the caspian with friends & wife. Starters were hit & miss with us, not a great choice to be fair. The mains were beautifully cooked & tasted amazing! Mains started from £10.00 & were priced up to £25.00 (mixed grill for 2 to share) nice atmosphere inside & overall i'd have to say that i would return.

Great food, great service, friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Feels like a family-run place, which I like. It was my first venture into Persian food and it certainly won't be my last! My boyfriend and I were viewing homes to buy in the neighborhood and we stumbled upon The Caspian by chance in Lee High Road. I enjoyed every dish we ordered, particularly the Kashk-O-Bademjan starter as well as the Bamiyeh main dish. My vegetarian boyfriend especially liked that the chef could modify other dishes for him to go meatless. We will definitely be coming back here.

Walked into by accident as badly needed a meal and couldn't get a seat at an Italian restaurant next door. But what a surprise! Food was brilliant and service excellent! Very pleased didn't get a seat next door as such discovery would have been missed!

A local gem. Gentle friendly service. Good portions of grilled meats and stews. Best starter is Kashk-O-Bademjan (mashed fried aubergine and walnuts with herbs and spices) - truly a different taste to what we are used to. Have with Sakad Shirazi and some bread. All grill and stews are good. Experiemnet with stews. Best is perhaps Zereshk Polo - chicken cooked in saffron, lemon, onion covered in saffron rice with sour berries. A gentle very soft dish. No explosive flavours. This food grows on you. The home made saffron ice cream with Persian baklava is a must for sweet tooths. Terrific.

They serve Persian/Iranian food. Nothing very spicy (which for me is a shame), but very tasty.All the dishes that have cubes of lamb/chicken/whatever can be substituted with Quorn, so veggies get a lot of choice!Very good food, service, prices and decor. All in all, very good!

If you have never tried Iranian/Persian food go for the stews such as gormeh sabzi full of herbs and preserved lemons or the geymeh.with lentils. My mother in law is from Tehran and she loves Caspian.

It was only by walking past the restaurant I discovered it although I am familiar with the area. Although we arrived later than expected staff were attentive and gave us good advice prior to choosing. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up during the course of our meal. We order houmous as a starter and this was more than enough for 6 of us. I went for the lamb with chickpeas and diced potatoes with Jasmine rice. Service was professional and quick despite one on the party changing their minds on a particular dish. I would recommend and visit again in the future.

Caspian is an authentic Persian restaurant. I was impressed from the cleanness and the atmosphere of the site. Service was very friendly and quick, the food was genuine and well presented. My lady is Persian and she could speak Farsi with the welter which was extremely kind. Great value for money. I will definitely go back there again!

A friend told us about the Caspian Restaurant in South East of London. Based on her recommendation, we visited this place. We were impressed by the lovely decoration and tables arrangement. We ordered Masst-o-Mooseer, Kashk-e Bademjoon, and Paneer Sabzi for the starter. For the main course, all decided to have Kabab Makhsoos with rice. We loved the starter very much. Unfortunately we found the Kabab was little bit tough and hard to chew. We told the waiter about this matter.

Have been here 3-4 times recently with my 91 year old grandmother and Iranian wife. Food is amazing - my grandmother loves it. Service is great, easy to park etc. One to try locally

Pretty much my first Persian restaurant and, from the menu at least, I was assuming something like a Turkish restaurant gone amok - but no. Its true that they have kebabs on the list of main courses but when that list includes sea bass (marinated with dill, thyme etc) its fair to assume that we're not talking your average kebab but something rather more interesting. And the food is particularly good when you stray into the specialities: fesenjan turns out to be chicken slowly cooked with ground walnuts and pomegranate jiuce - its tasty but on the sweet side of the spectrum (though not exactly sweet, its just the walnut/pomegranate ocmbo that does that). we had the sini mazeh (which I guess is mixed mezze on another menu) which has so far been the end of us every time we've been along - its a plate of home-made humous (honestly - or at least it tastes it), dolmades, two different aubergine based treats and a potato and chicken salad that is just yummy. We have also tried and recomment the paneer sabzi which is rather delicious feta cheese served with herbs and walnuts (and radish and spring onion) which (we were told) you are meant to mix up and pop onto a piece of their big fluffy bread - she promised the tastes would all meld together and they did - I shall ask for that one again!Top tip though..... and I can see it referred to elsewhere......they don't expect you to be in a hurry, its the sort of place that Iranian families come to eat with kids and can get a bit nursery like very early in the evening all of which contributes to the feeling of relaxation - if you want to be in a rush you will have to tell them, its just not a rush rush place and servings can seem family sized - if its too much they might be able to pack it to take away rather than chuck it out. Oh yes - and the meat kebabs were just right - not fatty or stringy and well marinaded. I rather assumed that the decor was Persian (though the rather huge and lovely loo has a bold wallpaper that looks Italian). Make a note to visit the loo.

Just spent a lovely evening at The Caspian with my girlfriend and her mum. Amazing food and brilliant service (and considering how busy it was they really didn't need to be as attentive as they were) Will definitely be regulars now we have moved to the area. Very family friendly as well.

Attractive restaurant but service was appalling. Dirty dishes left on the table, drinks orders forgotten, waiters chatting amongst themselves at back and worst of all we had to wait nearly an hour for our main courses without warning or apologies. The food was ok but nothing special, kebabs averages ant the stews had cheap ingredients.

The food was waay too much for me to have. I ended up wasting alot and i HATE wasting food. But, the service was good and the food was tasty.

We were really hopeful that our local would turn out to be a gem but were disappointed.Houmus and the Aubergine starters were ok, bread was extra.Disappointing mains - ok if you like LOTS of rice but not very tasty.Staff were fine.We visit Haz in the city (ok, Turkish rather than Persian) quite a lot which, though only very slightly more expensive, is in a completely different class-worth the train

We go here regularly, mainly to eat Persian food as we are Persians.The place is usually not busy so not much of an atmosphere, but it's nice & quiet. The staff are friendly & attentive.The food is excellent although I really like the Kebabs & the fish. The mixed rice dishes are not as good.I would recommend it for good food.

The decor and the location is not worth writing home about- it's functional! But the food is downright honest and finger-licking good!We had dinner there last night with some friends and each an every dish was fantastic and distinctive! The kebabs are succulent, don't forget to try the Joojeh Makhsoos. Some of the other main dishes that we loved was Zereshk polo (a delightful mix of saffron & lovely berries with rice & chicken); gheymeh; fesenjan are definitely worth a try! If you like to try different cuisines, then this is definitely worth a try! We would definitely like to go back there!

This restaurant is well appointed and tidy. It lacks atmosphere, the decoration is a bit stark - the food is reasonably good and the atmosphere ok. We also had a long delay between first and second courses (50 minutes) that is too long and the service was very courteous but a bit laboured and slow. The second course was somewhat spoiled by the wait although the food was well cooked and presented. Overall good but not outstanding, not awesome and not special. Good marks for the food which was good - with more attention to service and ambience this restaurant could be a lot better . . . .

A gem in an unlikely area. Easy to park. Warm reserved service. Everything tastes home made. Food is generous though stews tend to be on the small side. Grills are generous as is the high quality rice with all dishes. Starters are very good mainly dips though unusual and excelllent. Superb home made saffron ice cream nd excellent baklava.
