Starter was fantastic with a great selection. This was followed by a tasty bowl of potato and leek soup. All meats in the main were tasty however the potatoes and vegetables were very disappointing. Unfortunately, they were all tasteless. The portions of sauce were a nice touch. Good selection of desserts but unfortunately we weren't allowed a container to bring them home due to health and safety, a pity as other restaurants don't have a problem offering containers to bring food home. Coffee was good. Nice settings of a dining room. Pity about the potatoes and vegetables as everything else was so good.

Husband and I went to carvery last Wednesday, food gorgeous as always, staff lovely, but they definitely need someone standing at the soup.station all the time, we saw 5 people get their own soup, pick up bread rolls with their hands even though there were signs, it made me feel very uncormfortable. Definitely covit19 risk.

My family visited Tullyglass for lunch yesterday and I was really disappointed withthe carvery. First we had to queue outside int he rain. The food I would compareto school dinners. The chips were stone cold and carrots had turned a purple colour as if they were yesterdays left overs. Also I was served two small slices of the meat. I actually went for the jam spongeand custard to fill me up as the dinner was so bland. We also had to queue in the dinning hall for ages to get our food. Sorry, I had to write this as I have alwaysrecommended this carvery to everyone but won't be back.

Good service, nice food. Went to the carvery as part of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. Must admit, it was strange not helping yourself to the food, which is what makes a Carvery, but this cannot be helped. The staff need to be commended on now having to take on a role serving customers. They did a great job, and were polite and helpful. Food was good as normal, and the desserts get served as they always have!

For the attention of the General ManagerFirstly I want to insist that this email is passed directly to the General Manager of the hotel. Please be advised that I will know if this happens. My family booked an evening meal in your hotel for this evening and the customer service was beyond disgraceful. The old lady on reception had zero interest in helping anyone that approached her and spent as much time as she could on the phone! We were shown to our table at 6:20pm and nobody came to take our order until 7:00pm. That of itself is simply shocking. We spoke to the waitress about the very long wait and she said she didn’t know what table to go to first - clearly a shocking lack of management in supporting the waiting staff. At one point in this 40 minute wait the attention of a waiter was attempted - he said 2 mins and ran off - never to return. Interestingly a diner from another party chased that male waiter across the dining room to seek attention but he kept walking.Between giving in our order and leaving the hotel a member of my party went to the old woman on reception. After she took 3 telephone calls she spoke to my family member but offered no apology. At 7:30pm we decided to simply leave as you did not provide any level of service one would expect from what should be a reputable hotel. For your information the HM Treasury will be notified so there is not a fraudulent claim put in against the booking. Additionally you will see I have side copied Tourism NI as your staff need some serious training on management and customer service. Finally this entire email will be posted on trip adviser and sent to the Ballymena Guardian.Such a regrettable experience when you have government support by way of ‘Eat Out to Help Out’.Hang your head in shame I look forward to your considered response.

We decided to attend the carvery on Sunday the 23 Feb for a family get together. I have to say I was plesently surprised. The choice and quality of food was excellent. The staff were very plesent and cleared our tables promptly. The choice of desserts was excellent but the coffee wasn't the best, but this is only a small gripe on an otherwise good experience.

Visited today and a friend had blue mould in her dessert!!!! I was just as horrified as to how it was dealt with by staff, yes she was offered something else but no apology or anything from staff, management or even owners who where on site at the time. Went here 2 weeks ago for the carvery and after reading all the negative reviews on here we were a bit wary of it but we really enjoyed it. The service was first class and the variety of food was great. There was plenty of options to choose from and i can honestly say i will be back again. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. You can eat all you want for starters and then you get a ticket for your main and dessert. There is soup and hot and cold starters and the only thing i can say they could do differently is to make the starter plates bigger as you can hardly fit anything on them. 5* experience and would highly recommend!!

Decided to have our New Years dinner here as a party of 23. Obviously we knew this was a buffet style meal and expected to queue but the queues were so long and all of the starter dishes were empty. Main meal was nice but not a great vegetable choice. On a good note dessert was delicious. As we were a big party and spending a lot of money I was a bit disappointed that they charged us £3.50 for a jug of cordial for the children. It’s only water and diluted cordial. Can’t fault the friendly staff throughout this hotel though.

We made the mistake of eating here recently. It was very busy with lots of people queuing for the carvery. Perhaps we should have done the same but unfortunately we just picked to eat in the bar area. It was extremely cold for a start. We had to ask for a waiter to take the order. The waiter was a nice pleasant guy. We ordered a starter to share which was advertised as chicken with soy sauce and peanut dip. It came as 4 chicken dippers with soggy batter and a watery chilli sauce. Nowhere near what was advertised. I ordered the chicken gougons with an assortment of dips as my main. It arrived with 4 soggy chicken gougons with breadcrumb batter. One soggy lettuce leaf and a dip of garlic mayo. I asked where the selection of dips were, to be told I could have red sauce, brown sauce! I eventually asked for chilli sauce again. My partner ordered the burger and it arrived swimming in grease. It also had two uncooked cherry tomatoes with their stems still attached. And a very wilted lettuce leaf. We took most of the food home in a doggy bag. So disappointed. Perhaps we should have had the carvery On a plus, the xmas decor is lovely

Recently was here for a family celebration. The food in the carvery is fantastic. Always plenty of choice and always to a high standard. However, this trip was overshadowed by the poor service right from the front of house through to the end. We were greeted with a bad attitude and after being shown to our table we were then again subject to bad attitudes from serving staff. The server on deserts wasn’t wearing a hat or gloves and was sneezing everywhere. Which of course meant I didn’t eat my desert. Very disappointing if I’m honest because it’s the first time I’ve ever received this sub-standard service here.

I went with my family in a group of 8 for the Sunday evening carvery, which was a horrendous experience. The room was over crowded with many kids running wild and adults shifting chairs around to sit wherever they felt like. A very large group of people with absolutely no manners and limited personal hygiene were sat around us and made us feel very uncomfortable! Let's say I wouldn't leave my handbag unattended at the table! Given the price we paid for 8 people with drinks, this was the biggest waste of money, the food areas were really messy as the other customers where taking huge plates of food and going up and getting more, we watched one man eat three main courses when he should just of had one! The meat put on my plate was full of fat and when I asked the chef to remove the fat he grunted something under his breath. Not good enough! Also the vegetables where sitting in stale water and looked a rather odd colour, broccoli was grey instead of green! I am very surprised that I have not been ill given the way some of the other customers were handling the food, each of the serving utensils were covered in food! Food all tasted like it had been steamed for hours and all flavour removed. We will not be back and I would advise Tullyglass to consider the clientele that it accepts onto its premises as this group should have been given a room of their own away from civilised people and certainly not allowed to handle food that other people are supposed to eat from! I will not be recommending this hotel at all for anything and will advise others to avoid at all costs.

My husband and I went for the Carvery and were both very disappointed with the Quality and Presentation of the food. Time was approximately 630pm. Some of The hot starters had depleted and were not replenished. When we went for our main meal, the so called chef clearly had difficulty slicing the meat! It was really embarrassing!!! Gone are the good old days in the Tullyglass when the former chef (Paul) excelled at both quality and presentation... clearly management didn’t value him enough or he wouldn’t have left. The make shift chef that we recently experienced could not communicate effectively in English. In the end we rather reluctantly made do with the mean and appalling presentation. To make matters worse, the chips were hard on the inside, there was barely any carrots in the server, the roast potatoes again were hard on the inside. The sauces were all very watery and everything on our plates lacked flavour. I haven’t even gotten on to dessert.... to shock us even further, I opted for Banoffee. The biscuit and toffee base were so so thing, there was one piece of black banana in it and a mountain of ‘not so fresh’ cream. Clearly the Banoffee had been frozen as the cream was still crunchy with ice particles. My husbands roulade was extremely mean. I would normally have the sponge, but you could see that it was clearly not baked to the normal standard for the Tullyglass. The squares were very small and did not have the height that I had previously enjoyed, hence the Bannoffee... for it to disappoint too.... changed times... not the place it one was. It is very apparent that quality is being compromised. I recall the Tullyglass Carvery on a Friday evening... you could barely get a seat... but on our visit, we had our choice of seats.... I believe, the shortcuts made, the poor/compromised quality and presentation of foods and having a chef who simply cannot serve/ cut meat perhaps reflects the poor footfall recently. Sad to see, and it was a sorry day when Paul left.

When my wife and I think of a Sunday lunch carvery the first place comes to mind is the Tullyglass as we have been on numerous times. The dining room is huge and absolutely jam packed so there is quite a wait to get served.Maybe an extra serving counter on the opposite end of the room would be appropriate. My wife and I look forward to the fresh salmon but by the time we get to it there is usually only the head left but there is plenty other starters to keep us happy. There is only small plates for starters which is adequate but the greed of some people is unbelievable. We observed two ladies filling up three of these plates to overflowing and then packing their dinner plates with so much potatoes before returning to the starters to load up with more sausages but then they paid so I suppose they are entitled. The food was not as nice as is normal for this carvery which leads to the question, are they only interested in packing more customers in to the detriment of the quality of food?

Myself, my husband and daughter went for Easter Sunday Carvery. We were charged £60. They gave us a lovely table in the conservatory area. Starters were ok, although my daughter loves the wedges, today their were none. Main meal was disgusting. I got Turkey only, the cut of turkey I got was revolting with big bits of muscle hanging of it. I wouldn't feed it to a dog. It totally put me off my dinner, I had to cut it off and wrap it in a napkin. Dessert tasted like it had sat out for a day or two. We always enjoy our dinner here, but won't be back for a long time.

My wife and i work long hrs and as a treat like to have a nice meal out, esp on a sunday but decided to try something different and visited the carvery on sun 24th march. i hate to be critical, but it was sadly a huge let-down. We were seated basically beside the queue and had a steady stream of onlookers standing right next to our table while eating. The meat itself was quite nice, but everything else was incredibly bland, tasteless and under seasoned. Compared too quite a few sunday lunches/ dinners weve had....for under £20) I NEVER leave roasties but this time i left most of mine on my plate. The gravy was simply awful and had that terrible plastic taste u tend to get bad takaways....The cheesecake was obviously out too long as it had very little flavour and also went to the bin!... as did my wifes lemon meringue dessert. I have been here several times and usually found the food tasty but I feel it has been going steadily downhill lately. As usual, the array of food available in the carvery looked splendid. However, the salads were bland - even with just plain boiled egg available rather than the usual egg mayonnaise. The roast beef was dry and stringy and all the gravy was tasteless. The cauliflower cheese was watery with no flavour of cheese. The sprouts were obviously cooked from frozen and were hard and bitter - very disappointing as this is my favourite vegetable. I had the trifle which again was tasteless with very little fruit and extremely firm jelly. I do not intend to visit here again.

Since the refurbishment the carvery isn't as good as it used to be. There aren't as many options for the cold buffet and the soups aren't as up to their usual standard. It's still the best carvery in Northern Ireland but then there isn't much in the way of competition.

Tullyglass Carvery today was not what I expected. I know it is a busy time at Christmas but that is not an excuse to so tightly pack tables in a restaurant that there was limited space to make our way from table for the food. We met others coming back carrying plates almost over seated peoples heads.. If an emergency had happened the escape was definitively nil. The soup was tepid and although the plates were hot to start with by the time we queued back to the table it was getting cold. The meats and sweets were OK but vegetables were scarce when we reached them. The staff we came in contact with were all very nice. It will be a long time before I would consider going back.

We were very disappointed however to find out that the website bookings were for some reason not valid, and even though being a regular customer they couldn’t give us a table. However a resident couple were taken immediately. Just to stick the knife in further the receptionist, if you would call her that, was ignorant. She informed me I should complain to the IT guy?! The revamp of where the carvery is held etc doesn't do the carvery any favours. The starters and mains end up being mixed up with one another because of the sort of way it's lifted and that isn't good for those with allergies. The food was quite cold and tough on my visit. I couldn't fault the quality of the food - help yourself to hot tasty soup and roll, help yourself hot and cold starter/salad, meat served by chef was very tasty with help yourself vegetables. Then came the disappointment - there were many tempting desserts to choose from but I was only allowed to choose a portion of one (server by a waitress) which seemed very petty considering all other courses were help yourself to as much as you wanted. All I wanted was a smaller portion of two desserts but this was not allowed. Spoilt a near perfect meal.

I took members of my family to Austins Bar and Restaurant for birthday celebrations. The restaurant is quite ‘posh’ and there were just one couple already dining when we arrived. Thus atmosphere was lacking and the elegant surroundings could not compensate for this. On the plus side, we received excellent service and our waitress, Monika, looked after us very well. Between us, we sampled a variety of dishes from the menu. Starters included Portavogie Prawns and Irish Whiskey glazed spare ribs. For our main courses we had Wild Glenarm Salmon fillets, roast Slemish lamb and crispy half Peking duck. Our sweet course included Crumble Tart, sticky toffee pudding, Tullyglass cheese cake. One of our number had the cheese selection. We had two bottles of wine: NZ Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc 2017 and a Pasquier Desvignes Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2014 both of which we quite drinkable. The food was well prepared and presented and tasted good. We enjoyed after dinner drinks in the bar where we were greatly amused by the friendly overtures from a flamboyant lady who was seated nearby. All this created a good atmosphere which was lacking in the restaurant.

Not a great lover of well done roast meat. It would have been wonderful if , maybe, a smaller joint along side could be cooked medium, medium rare. My lunch was not warm. The food is delicious and there is plenty of choice. The reason for my “poor” rating is due to something I’ve noticed on four of my most recent trips to the carvery/hotel. A member of wait staff, with glasses and shoulder length white/blonde bob style hair bosses younger members of staff around, talks to them with an utter lack of respect and I witnessed her actually clicking her fingers to beckon another member of staff. All done whilst tutting and sighing.

Called into the Sunday night carvery to grab a quick bite to eat on the way back from Antrim Hospital. We weren’t expecting fine dining but were totally appalled by the quality of the food available. A pay before you eat policy is in operation and I guess that this should really have set the alarm bells ringing. In essence we paid £40 for food that was basically inedible. Roast beef that was dry and burnt, cold cauliflower cheese, mushy roast potatoes and dried out carrots- all

Always loved the Tullyglass carvery, my kids do love to be able to pick their own so that's a bonus right away, the last 4 or 5 times we have been as a family have just not been as good as it used to be, hardly any salmon, no prawns, meat very tough and dry, trying to get a waiter/ waitress is a nightmare, deserts are just Ok, coffee from machine is rather nice though, some of the staff are great others not so much, though they are ran off their feet, so all in its just ok nothing special

We went here for a family dinner over the festive period. As many of the people there were not drinking alcohol I requested a jug of orange cordial, which seemed a standard enough request. The rest of the meal passed without anything of note, but when it came to pay the bill I was apoplectic with rage when I noticed they had charged me FIFTEEN POUNDS for the cordial - FIFTEEN POUNDS!!!!

We would dine fairly regular in Tullyglass House staff are very friendly and food always good. This evening we ordered Beer battered cod chips and peas. I received a piece of fish and about a third of it was over cooked batter with a piece of thin cod which was I couldn't eat. The chef told the waiter to advise me to order lightly cooked cod next time . Was very disappointed and feel with a response like this it will make me review where we eat in future.

Just outside the town this is a excellent place to eat, but you need to have a big appetite! Lots to choose from and it's 1 price you don't have the option of 2 courses eg! It's a full 5 course carvery, soup, hot and cold starters , mains with 3 meats which you can take 2 ( other carverys can have up to 7 meats available about the only down side) a great choice of desserts, tea or coffee. .... drinks for the table are bought separately

Easily the best carvery in the town. Great value and the "cooked to order" steak always good. They've changed the starters a little but for the good. Always a good meal. Yes it gets very busy at peak times ; ie Sunday's afternoons but that is to be expected. If I had a complaint it would be the ridiculous bar prices. You can't justify £3.50 for a small jug of dilute orange for kids.

Went for Sunday carvery which we had booked in advance. On arrival we found the place jam packed. Had to queue for quite some time just to check in. Then we were told things were running late and we should have a seat in the lounge area and wait to be called. We did so and 20 mins later returned to reception only to find they had forgotten all about us!!

The best part of the meal was the first course Soup. However we had to sort through the soup bowls to find clean ones to put the soup in. There were flies crawling all over the bread rolls too. The second course only had Cocktail Sausages, Chicken Wings and potatoes., There were no Sausage Rolls, Barbecue Ribs or Prawn Crackers as stated on the menu. And the plate for the second and third course is the size of a small saucer. The third course consisted of mainly cheap items like rice, noodles and pasta. Anyone over 12 years old has to pay the full price for the carvery and for the fourth course our teenage children were given a children's portion of carved meat even though a full price ticket had to be bought for them at reception. The main course consisted of Gammon, Turkey or Beef, no sign of the Sirlion Steak or Roast Pepper Salmon mentioned on the menu. Soggy chips and canned peas were among the other unpalatable vegetables that were available. The deserts looked nice, we all had different ones and they were all very disappointing as they had very cheap faux cream which tasted terrible. I had "coffee Cake" which consisted of very dry cake which had no coffee flavour and coffee coloured mock cream which was disgusting. This took us to our final course tea or coffee and mints. The coffee tasted nothing like coffee should, no coffee beans being freshly ground here and when asked for mints the waiter that was leaning on the bar said there were no mints. But the menu said tea or coffee and mints? During the whole time we were here no one came over to our table to see if we wanted any drinks etc. The staff appeared completely disinterested in how any of their guests were doing.

Such a great selection of food and very reasonably priced. Always really busy at weekends so tend to go on a week night. Always keep a space for the sponge with jam and coconut with custard. Staff very efficient and plates taken away very quickly so no build up. Love this place.

Beautiful hotel hadn't been for years was really looking forward to the meal. Starters were good soup delicious was really looking forward to main course, was really disappointed the veg was watery and overcooked gravy and pepper sauce was tasteless everything generally on the dinner was bland dessert was ok when asked if our meal was ok the waitress said it's just the way it's prepared wasn't worth the money could have had much nicer meals for the same money or less in Ballymena sadly wouldn't recommend tullyglass carvery to anyone

I have stayed here several times now but have never tried the carvery. however, judging by the popularity of it when I have stayed here they must put on a very good spread and I have never heard 1 complaint. Must give a go on my next visit.

Well they call it a carvery, but we call it a Banquet! This was truly fabulous, choice of soups, salad bar with salmon, prawns, chicken, sausages and, obviously, salads, then the carvery. The meat was delicious with very generous sliced, plenty of potatoes and veg, gravy and sauces. Then the sweets - profiteroles, cheesecake, meringue, ice creams - seriously blew our minds. A Carvery in England is just that - a roast meal, this was way beyond that - I just wish I wasn't Diabetic! The grounds of the Hotel are lovely too, with a fountain in the grounds. We will definitely return.

Reminds me of school dinners, I can't argue the food being brought into the hotel is of high quality but the chefs cooking it need educating on how to cook meat and not over cook it, how to roast a potato correctly and not over cook the vegetables and the desserts look good but taste terrible. I've been to a wedding in the Tully glass and can't fault the food there, it was delicious and well cooked - the carvery is awful.

It's exactly as it is says, a typical Sunday carvery. I felt that it was untidy and the staff didn't have time to clean up after very untidy families. Very loud and very busy and good ok as always. Staff rushed off their feet but very accommodating.

after reading reviews on here i thought my family and i thought we would try here for a change instead of going to our normal choice in belfast to be honest Food was lovely but what really disappointed me was the service in the restaurant my daughter and myself were still eating on main course but the rest of my family had finished and they started clearing their plates which i thought was a bit rude as i was always told that it was only polite for everyone to finish before clearing plates i would have over looked but it also happened when we were eating our dessert and to be honest my daughter was enjoying her turkey but she felt oh they are clearing plates i better say i am finished too but she wasn't finished also i have a daughter who only likes vanilla ice cream i know this is silly but they only had one choice of ice cream not everyone like raspberry ripple when i asked was there any vanilla i was told No just raspberry ripple take or leave it and as she doesnt eat any other desserts she felt she had to take it and ate some of it but played with it mainly. The service at reception when we asked the 1st girl on reception with glasses was like yeah cravey is around the corner not even would you like me to show you were as this was our 1st visit to hotel so i had to go back and ask again and this time the girl with blonde hair tied back in a ponytail i think came round and showed us were have to say this lady was really helpful.

Myself and my family were at Tullyglass for Mother's Day and as usual we weren't disappointed, friendly staff and great organisation ensured we had a great evening and great meal to boot. We have been going to Tullyglass for more than twenty years and have yet to have a bad experience. Top quality food and great service in a relaxed atmosphere means it won't be long before we'll be back at Tullyglass.

I went for Afternoon tea with 2 of my daughter's as a Mother's day treat. We went on Satuday 25 March 2017. Where do I start. The coffee was not hot, the sandwiches were bland. Of note the soup was good and we would probably have liked more of it. The scones and pastry were enjoyable enough but no wow factor as with some other establisments that serve afternoon tea. On saying that the staff were friendly and the sun was shining. Overall not a great treat

As always the service you receive at this hotel is amazing and professional. We recently booked 14 people for a 50th wedding anniversary. The food was 1st class as usual, plenty to choose from. Potato & leek soup was so good. Starters both hot and cold were fresh, plenty of choice for all types of foodies, vegetarians well catered for and and they spare no expense in offering unusual starters. The meat is amazing. This time my husband along with others in our party went for the steak option, wow, cooked to perfection he said, succulent and a huge portion, and this is at no extra cost. Also traditional meats on offer roasted were ham, turkey and beef. The sides for the main are a little boring compared to all the other courses on offer, traditional pub grub, peas, carrots and roasties, had sat a little to long. The atmosphere was busy but the staff were not panicky and had time to spend with all the guests especially the regulars. It was the Saturday before Mothers Day and it was packed and they had closed half of the dining area off to accommodate a wedding so seating was stretched to capacity but at no time were we hurried on and we were there ALL evening. In the middle of the meal the music started next door at the wedding and it was loud, and we could have quite easily gotten up and had a dance in the dining area as the music was right there in your face. Luckily it was a traditional wedding singer with traditional wedding songs that were not offensive in any way, but it is something to consider as this would not suit a romantic quiet little meal for 2 trying to be on their own style of night out!! We enjoyed every minute of our time and can highly recommend this carvery. The only 1 bad thing I can complain about and I mentioned this in my last review is that the ladies toilet do not have enough room for you to physically get into the cubicle without scooting up the side of the loo where the ladies bin is and your body and clothes are touching the loo and the door traps you against the wall in order to get in and close the door. I am a big girl but I was with others who are a size 10 and struggled to do the same thing. So my suggestion is to use the loo with the door open and have a friend block the view. The other thing I want to say is that at the hot starters counter that the whole area is hot (obviously to keep the food warm) my daughter burned herself even though I was with her and she was miserable for the whole evening, so caution should be exercised. I am just off the phone with the Tullyglass to tell them that I did not see any signage to this effect and that it might be a wise idea. I was assured that there was 3 signs on the wall, which I did not see and they are going to place 3 more up in the area as a warning to other guests, also they are going to send us a voucher for the carvery as a gesture of good will. I was not cross in any way because looking after my child at the carvery is my responsibility and I hadn't phoned to complain, just to make them aware, so this is very good and kind service. (My daughter's finger is ok and staff immediately followed me to the bathroom where i was running cold water on it and gave us burn gel which worked a treat, she was miserable and sore but it could have been a lot worse without their immediate attention to her).

Very disappointed with this hotel's Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were so plain, nothing fancy or special about them at all i.e., white bread with a thin slice of processed ham inside. The scones were tasteless and there was only enough jam, cream and butter for one. The prosecco was almost flat. The pastries were tasteless and seemed stale and definitely not homemade. I had to repeatedly ask for my tea cup to be refilled. Afternoon Tea is meant to be special, with beautifully presented food that is fancy and dainty and a bit different from what you would have everyday. I think Tullyglass needs to do a bit of research to see what kind of standard is expected for Afternoon Tea.

So, I had a fry here before and it was a very positive experience, friendly staff, good food, freshly prepared. All good. So I was passing by again and thought, 'there's that place I had that really good fry!'. So I called in. I don't like egg or mushroom so always ask them not to include, same as last time. They usually put an extra piece of bacon or something to make up for it. And they did. I had quite a deep plate just swimming in beans. Like, an ocean of beans. Seriously? Who can cope with that quantity of beans??
