Warm friendly entrance. Then told we were upstairs and they couldn’t do anything even though a lady had a broken leg and found stairs very difficult. Escorted to table then left for 15 minutes before asked about drinks. No drinks list unless they went downstairs again to get it. So relied on waiters memory as best they could. The food took one and a quarter hours to arrive! At no time before they cleared the plates did we see another waiter. People passed occasionally but ignored us. Nobody asked if OK . it wasn’t . There was a chipped wine glass too late to remedy that . No water on table. No second round of drinks possible. One can only say the service was dreadful. The waiter bringing the bill said they were very busy downstairs. Apparently it’s second class service upstairs. Two meals were very good but two were poor. Not reccomended!

I found Carew Inn on Google maps & called in just before 8pm on a Sunday evening whilst driving to Pembroke Dock for the late ferry to Ireland. The place was packed! Always a good sign. The staff were very helpful & found me a table upstairs. There’s quite an extensive menu. My scampi was beautifully cooked & very tasty. Great portion sizes. I would highly recommend Carew Inn to anyone visiting the area. There’s an adjacent car park & free WiFi.

Amazing little find, directly opposite Carew castle. Lovely looking beer garden outside and the food and service were second to none. Cheesy garlic bread was awesome and the Carew burger with pulled pork was lovely. Portion sizes are great. Excellent value for money. Well recommended.

We booked for Sunday lunch a few weeks prior to visiting and found a busy car park extra spaces down at the chapel or across at Carew castle. Remember if u cannot climb steps or have walking issues please tell them on booking as you could end upstairs. The lunch menu was roast dinner and kids choice was dinner or sausage and mash there were vegetarian options also. The food came hot with lots of veggies service wasn’t rushed all very relaxed and the kids had pudding I’d defo recommend here. A great walk off of lunch around Carew Castle or to the mill house we will return

Booked this as it was recommended on line as one of 10 best places for Sunday lunch near Tenby - sadly then that doesn't reflect well on the standard available. The actual pub was cosy and the staff were attentive and friendly. But judging from the previous reviews the chef must have been having an off day because our lunch was not the best and looked nothing like the photo that someone has submitted previously. The pork was full of gristle and difficult to cut, the beef was better but all were accompanied by only half an undercooked roast potato, a soggy Yorkshire pudding and half a very small roast parsnip, The gravy was pale and tasteless but the vegetables were ok apart from the boiled potatoes that had no salt. We didn't want to try anything from the dessert menu to avoid further disappointment.

Used this lovely pub every time we visit this area so class it as our local. Wether for a pint or food we’ve always had a warm welcome from owners and staff. Saturday 25th Went for a pint after a walk around the mill pond with two dogs. The bar was full as the football was on but with two dogs it was better to sit in the beer garden. Friendly staff. Went for Sunday lunch 26th May having previously booked. Beautiful food welcoming and friendly staff. I like the fact they offer you a large or small dessert. After the sumptuous beef dinner it was the ‘small’ portion for me. However I wouldn’t like to see the large portion. lol. If you want Sunday lunch it’s best to book in advance as walk in can’t be guaranteed.

Outstanding food and service as always. A lovely country inn with first class food and top notch service. Thank you to the Carew Inn team for yet another wonderful evening. It’s our go-to place if you want a great meal with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. See you next week! P.s I’ve noticed a negative review below, we were actually in the pub that evening and we heard how rude and insulting the group were to the waiting team. We were all appalled by how negative they were, regardless the team and Lisa were so accommodating and went above and beyond to try and ensure these guests were happy but noting was good enough. I’m only sorry you have such a sad and negative outlook on life and don’t appreciate a wonderful quality local pub. You’re really missing out! Great work Team Carew on remaining polite and professional throughout.10/10 as always !

What a tremendous place. Visited on 23.2.24, and could not have wished for better food, drinks, or staff. There happened to be one table who caused a fuss, who were completely out of order and were clearly causing trouble to get themselves discount or a free meal. The staff handled themselves with grace, even in the midst of threats of the customers giving poor reviews online. Some of the staff are under 18 and do not deserve this treatment in their place of work. Carew Inn continues to be the finest of country pubs to visit for food and drinks. The welcome Rob & Mandy provide is second to none.

My boyfriend and I have fallen in love with this place! We spent a belated Valentine's date here for dinner and it was fabulous! Everything was cooked perfectly and the atmosphere was mellow and romantic. The only thing that we would like to see improved would be the portion size of the special starters. My boyfriend ordered the mini seafood basket (which we knew wouldn't be big) but could have done with a little bit more contents in the basket as a pose to a mouthful of each thing. Staff were friendly and the wine was delicious!

Really enjoyed our experience here. We live 10 minutes away and thought we'd try somewhere different, and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed by a warm crackling fire, and we were seated in a cosy little room that had a small number of tables. The food was delicious, I had mussels to start, and my boyfriend had squid rings. The sauce that came with the mussels was possibly the nicest I've tasted. It was rich and creamy without being sickly. My boyfriend had a steak which was cooked perfectly and I had the burger. My boyfriend failed to finish his steak as the portion was so big. My burger was delicious but was quite messy to eat, I ended up eating it with a knife and folk after a failed attempt to use my hands (that would be my only negative). Desserts were also delicious, and the wine was perfect. I've already recommended it to my family and friends, we will definitely be back!

Came to the inn with family and was not disappointed but not overwhelmed!! Sat downstairs and could hear the loud conversations coming from the kitchen which was a little annoying !! Food was ok and waitresses were lovely and attentive. Just felt that food has been better in the past, being a local I have dined many times at the Inn and did feel a little disappointed !! The menu has slimmed down and this is understandable in the current climate although the favourite old man’s chicken is still there !! Although again not as good as it used to be !! Still a popular place but many local restaurants are just that little bit better !!

We visited this pub whilst holidaying. The bar round the back is truly authentic, a proper traditional pub feel with a roaring fire to boot. Only tiny so we were crammed in but everyone was friendly and welcoming. We then decided to eat there and asked about a table for the 2 of us and our dog. This was accommodated swiftly and we moved round to the restaurant side. We had a lovely table next to another open fire which was very cozy. The food was excellent. All in all we had a lovely experience at the carew Inn. Full credit to the staff they never stopped, were attentive and friendly and exceptionally hard working. We then proceeded to order our food inside at the bar and we were served by what I can only call an extremely stressed and rude woman. My mum asked to order a coffee and her reply was “I’d really rather not” whilst staring directly at the coffee MACHINE!! If only I could say to people in my job that id really rather not do something… especially when you work in customer service! You have to laugh.. She was blabbering on about how busy the pub was and how many people she has to serve whilst also smashing up ice cubes in a box like an axe murderer. It was all very uncomfortable and not very friendly to say the least. We waited a very long time for our food but I have to say when it eventually arrived it was really nice! We waited more than an hour for our very poor quality meal. The chips were dry and the much heralded Curew Inn burger was tough and then charged us £15 for it.As we waited for our meal two other tables took their meals back because they’d been so badly prepared.I would not recommend you waste your time or money at this pub. There are many other places around the area to eat so don’t make the mistake we did. Avoid Curew Inn if you want a good meal.

Went to carew inn this evening for a meal. Had to send 2 meals back as appalling could not eat the chicken. Found a hair in the garlic bread and the drinks came out in warm glasses. Run out of new potatoes which we were informed after waiting over 1 hour for our food. Worst service and meal I have ever had.

I didn’t come up with the title of this review lightly, not least because our impression until now of pubs in the region, on this and previous visits, has been overwhelmingly favourable. What make this one even worse is that its evident history and situation opposite a historic castle lulls you into expecting a special evening, as did the recommendation of a good friend, who will be mortified to learn of the mediocrity we encountered. We were booked in for 8pm, a little later than we normally like to eat in the evening - and because they couldn’t meet our request to eat at 7.30pm - but we were happy to let that pass on the afore mentioned friend’s recommendation. After we were shown to our seats, we were at least able to order drinks to our table more or less straight away. However, half an hour passed with no explanation or apology for the delay. I think that’s about a reasonable limit to wait. We also noticed that tables which had been occupied when we arrived were still waiting to be served. As the rumblings of discontent became apparent from a neighbouring table, one of the very sweet teenage waitresses behind whom the management hid all evening began the litany of apologies. Along with the table next to us, we reassured the waiting staff that none of the blame could be attached to them. Three-quarters of an hour came and went. The waitress for our table was reduced to apologising that they were “very busy” - that old favourite of businesses that cannot deliver what they promise, as if “being busy” somehow comes as an unwelcome surprise to a restaurant. Our food eventually arrived an hour after we’d been seated. The lasagne I’d ordered turned out to come in one of those bowls in which it’s easy to pre-freeze the meal and then simply heat up in a microwave. Why that took an hour was no more explained than why a garlic bread that could have come from a bog standard supermarket pack required such elaborate preparation, or the accompanying salad consisting of half a chopped red onion, a similar amount of red pepper and some shredded lettuce. A restaurant possessing any sense of pride or humility, instead of hiding behind schoolgirls, would have fronted up with its customers and said something like: “Do you know what? We have to hold our hands up - tonight’s been a shocker. Forget the bill.” Instead, no warning of delays was made beforehand, though they must have known by then they were struggling. No offer was made even to knock our drinks off the bill, let alone waive the whole thing in embarrassment, so compounding the dismal service with shameless money-grabbing. In short, a business which can’t provide the service it promises, but takes your money without apology anyway. My recommendation: Avoid at all costs.

Called in for lunch today after visiting the castle and Mill - it was a busy lunch time and the staff were working hard to make sure everyone was served. Hard to choose from such a lovely menu. Lovely atmosphere in the garden area and gorgeous food, will definitely recommend in future.

My new fiance and I decided to pick this inn as it is part of our history; we were celebrating our recent engagement and pleased we chose the Carew Inn.The table had splendid views, the food was delicious and the pastry superb. But the staff made the evening - they were so kind and helpful and brought us some fizz to celebrate. They were a real credit to the inn - especially the lady we called ‘Blue’ who helped from the kitchen. She was exceptional. We will definitely be back!

We have visited the Carew Inn twice now in the last couple of weeks. Due to current regulations there is a limited menu and you have to sit outside, but neither of these bothered us. The food, which was great and delivered quickly, was very tasty and good value. As others have said, it was served in a cardboard box which wasn't a problem as it's easy to unfold into a plate. Also it does say on the menu a plate can be asked for if needed, so no need for the poor reviews. We'll be back!

Visited on a staycation wasn’t expecting it to be great initially when finding out they were only serving outside in the markey with a limited menu and staff due to restrictions on Wales but it was just amazing. Even though the menu was limited we were still spoilt for choice. Food was great and all the staff were super friendly, chatty made you feel so welcome. We’ll definitely be back when visiting again.

Food served in cardboard boxes, can’t understand why this is still happening. I had the steak and ale pie which looked pretty much like one from a takeaway fish and chip shop and it was overcooked and dry. So, we paid restaurant prices for takeaway food!

I used to go here on occasion while stationed at Brawdy. It was a great place to go after a session of surfing. I was saddened to hear that it recently suffered a fire.

Absolutely amazing food. Excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are friendly, chatty & helpful, and it’s clean. Definitely recommend the coronation chicken, cheese salad. Hubby had baked spud first time which he enjoyed & baguette 2nd time each he enjoyed. And the cakes WOW!! I will miss the carrot cake which I highly recommend & the custard slice is just as amazing. The cost is brilliant too. Thanks you Phillys Baguettes

Ordered two crab sandwiches latte and a beer, £35. Staff need a pick me up or it’s been a hard season. The crab sandwich was good, spoonful of coleslaw, frozen chips. Was told to help myself to a glass for the beer, everyone looked not properly washed, picked the cleanest but still had bubbles down inside indicating grease. Latte was tasteless. Not a pleasant experience won’t be back.
