A really lovely pub with such a friendly landlady. Welcoming to walkers and a good stop on the coastal path. We only had drinks but I think that they also do food.

We discovered this little gem last year when visiting Fishguard. This year we visited 3 times for food. The menu is a good 'pub food' menu, the food is excellent and the prices very reasonable. The service for food and drinks is excellent. Especially good is the gammon, excellent price for a big horseshoe gammon. The bar maids were friendly and welcoming. We had made friends with Christine the landlady last year when we visited, so we received a lovely warm welcome when we arrived this year. We chatted to locals each time we visited, the pub reminds me of a good old local, rather than the modern gastro pub. Also, during lockdown, Christine decorated the bar, so it is brighter than last year. This pub is a must for us every time we visit Fishguard. What more do you want from a pub, good beer, good food and good company.

Old style pub could have been decorated so much better for Christmas. Food was better than we thought it would be. Barmaid was really helpful and clearly works very hard.

We called in last Monday lunch time to watch the Wales v Georgia match on tv, there weren't many customers there, but they were very friendly and chatty, as was the barman, and later on the landlady. We both ordered Steak and Ale pie, which was really tasty, in fact the food and atmosphere was so good, we called in on Thursday too. On the second visit I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken with chips and peas, and my husband ordered the Chicken Curry, with rice and chips. Both meals were excellent, and quite large. The food and drinks are all reasonably priced. Again we struck up conversations with other customers and bar staff, also the landlord and landlady. Many might be put off by the pub's decor, it is quite dark, but it reminded us of the good old pubs that used to be everywhere, before the days of 'gastro pubs'. There is a lovely beer garden to the rear, however the weather was not good while we were there. It was spotlessly clean throughout. Next time we visit Fishguard, we will indeed be calling in to Bennetts!

Very very quiet. Landlord needs to advertise more as this is a little gem. Needs to attract the customers with music/ sport and food just like the Royal Oak pub which has gone through a major revamp

We came here last night for food. This was my opening question as pub was dimly lit and had one customer in. Thankfully the landlord cooked for us and my wife had the roast chicken and I had yjt chicken Kiev. The barlady kindly opened up the restaurant area for us and the food took a while to arrive but was nice when it did. I enjoyed two pints of the local ale and we may come back for a pint this week on holiday.

Popped in for a bite to eat on a Thursday evening with our two young grandsons. Place was pretty much empty. Asked if we could order food but the lady behind the bar said she would have to check if they were doing food; she phoned and got a positive outcome. She said we could sit in the restaurant which was fine. Food took a while to arrive but the portions were very generous indeed; kids portions especially large. Basic pub fare, kids both had chicken nuggets, my wife had scampi and I had plaice. Total bill with four soft drinks less than £30 - can't grumble at that!

As we are wanderers, we like to just drop into places and wish we not have in this case. I don't like writing bad reviews but when inquiring about meals (that were advertised on the outside of the pub) the bar attendant had to ring someone to see if they were going to do them. After getting the nod we were handed menus that were quite limited but expected of a pub. There were no healthy options on it and we ended up ordering the fisherman's pie and a soup, both without much description. The meals turned up and the fisherman's pie was very fishy (not sure what I was expecting though) and the soup looked like it came from a can. To add, these were more like restaurant prices not basic pub food prices so all in all, we were very disappointed with this experience.

I called here for a drink whilst in Fishguard. It is a basic, down to earth town centre pub with no frills but it has a quirky nautical theme which is fitting for this town.

We arrived in Fishguard at lunchtime which was too early to book into the holiday park so spotted this pub and went in for lunch. It turned out that the landlady attended the same junior school as me, many years ago I might add. The food was a typical pub menu but was excellently cooked and presented. We went back there in the evening and spent a lovely couple of hours chatting to the landlord and another customer.

First visit to Fishguard - called into the pub to be greeted by the staff - we ordered chicken, chips and salad The chicken I must say was cooked to perfection . A very good meal, good value and excellent company, so nice we called back in the evening and had sandwiches. Well worth a visit, a clean and tidy pub.

We ended up there mainly because anywhere else was full. Food was ok, I was disappounted that my pie actually wasn't a pie but gravy and meat with a pasty on top. They were out of my friend's choice of dinner so she had to get something else. But: the plates were huge, you definitely didn't go home hungry and it was better than a takeaway. Also the waitress/barmaid was very friendly. Food was only served till 8 p.m., we only just made it in time and we sat for quite a while till everybody else was gone but still the lady didn't throw us out. Very decent of her.

Spot on! Would wholeheartedly recommend this pub to families for a great combination of good beer and fabulously tasty food at affordable prices. Super family garden too. You could easily just walk by without giving the pub a second glance. We're a family of nine and have been twice this week because it was so good.

We visited The Bishops whilst travelling through St. David’s. The pub is very well situated within the town if you are visiting the Cathedral or even passing through. If you’re lucky enough, like us, there are a number of free spaces on the hill, to the side of the Cathedral. There was three of us visiting, we ordered some food from the light bites / sandwiches selection - Ham & Cheese, Coronation Chicken, Tuna Mayo, two soft drinks and a pint of Madri. Now the total bill did come in at £38.50 which in my opinion isn’t cheap, but each sandwich was fresh, tasty and served with a tasty side salad and crisps. The sandwiches really were tasty and very filling, we would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area and fancy a quick bite to eat with a decent pint!
