Stotesburys was very busy (speaks volumes) so we decided to give this chippy a try. The positive points - it is spotless, friendly staff and you can get free batter bits. We rushed home with our fish and chips - the chips were fine but the cod was awful. The batter was so saturated it stayed with the paper and left the soggy fish! Would we return? Only if we want a portion of chips and some batter bits.

First time visiting this establishment today. Ordered pie and chips, cod and chips and fish cake and chips. The chips were clearly not fresh and were dry / hard / overdone. The pie was so hard I couldn't cut it. Unfortunately I forgot my saw this holiday so couldn't eat the pie. Another item that wasn't fresh, how difficult is it to heat up a pre cooked pie.... The cod was tasteless. The only good thing was the batter, even then that was below average. The homemade fishcake was tasteless and overcooked. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else instead.

Staying in Carisbrooke for holiday and popped in to get fish and chips takeaway for the family. Food was very good and great value. Owners are very welcoming. Recommended.

If not the worst tasteless slop I’ve ever tasted, take yourself away from this take away and go somewhere elsewhere, yukkk

Appalling coffee. For a place calling itself the noble bean it is shocking that they serve instant latte and cappuccinos. On the other hand the carrot cake and the brownie were excellent.

Nice spot, lovely staff but!! Building in need of updating, and the food is of very low quality, and overpriced, also waited a long time and then part of the order we placed was not ordered by the staff member taking orders! This is a historic venue but sadly it was probably at its best in 1965 😢

Oh my word! Having been pulled in by the kerb-appeal of all the delicious-looking delights in the window, my partner and I hoped to find something nice for lunch. How disappointed we were....... This verged on a blend of Fawlty Towers and a Karen's Diner. There are warning-galore, all written on paper bags stuck over the walls and on the display areas. "Do not touch, this is not self-service, don't fiddle with the toaster settings, children and knives don't mix, we are not trained fire-fighters, no toilets here.....", all headed up by a small, rather stroppy and officious tyrant of a woman! I wondered what we had stumbled upon so headed for Tripadvisor and all was revealed! The reviews don't lie! I then amused myself over a bowl of mediocre soup and unremarkable bread, by reading the words of previous customers. I CONCUR! We ate our lunch squashed onto a pew with other equally bemused/ confused/ amused diners and made a speedy exit - my partner more speedy than me as he didn't want to risk her wrath at the till, heaven-forbid he did something wrong! I'm still not quite sure what we experienced and I don't think I'll return. Go for a nosy if you have broad shoulders and fancy taking on Miss Trunchbull of the bakery world!
