Had lunch and it was tasty and service was excellent. Very friendly. Unfortunately January had taken its toll and wasn’t busy but can’t fault service or food. One criticism would be the roaring fire was obstructed by a table sat right in front. This for some would be a definite plus to enjoy. I know it would mean losing a table for 2 but would enhance the experience for diners

The Canny Man is a delightful bar and restaurant that offers delicious Scottish cuisine and a welcoming dog-friendly atmosphere. The menu features a range of traditional Scottish dishes, such as haggis, neeps, and tatties, as well as modern twists on classic favorites. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends and family, including your four-legged companions. Whether you're looking for a savory meal or just a relaxing drink, the Canny Man is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a taste of Scotland and a pet-friendly environment. They even have a band on occasion! Eve & Lolly

This was a lovely little find on a miserable Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant is lovely and has lots of tables and parking (although the car park needs some attention!) The food was fresh, piping hot, and tasted delicious. There was a lunch time menu on which is great value for 2-3 courses. Lots to choose from too. The young lady who served us was fantastic. She was friendly and chatty and couldn’t have done more for us. She told us about the ceilidh band and the Sunday roast selection, so we are looking forward to returning for that. The cherry on the cake is that we can bring our dog too! Editing to note that the lovely server we had before, and again this week, was Louise. She is full of smiles and honestly couldn’t do enough for us. She talked us through the new festive menu and what adaptions could be made for out coeliac granddaughter. Fabulous service and lovely food.

Nice place and friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was not great. I had fish with potato bravas, the fish was very small and not particularly tasty, main problem was the potatoes smothered with pretty much ketchup and garlic aioli, which was terrible.

I had visited on a couple of occasions since it was taken over and was impressed with the food so I decided to go on Saturday for my birthday meal. We arrived at 5 and were the only table there. We waited 45 mins for our food. Onion rings were cold. The chilli in the burger was just mince. The steak in the steak pie was so tough and unenjoyable. No one asked if everything was okay. We weren't offered deserts menu. (We wouldn't have wasted any more time or money) I complained when paying about the place being cold (I'd asked if they could light the coal fire) I was told they didn't have the stuff) The young male server did apologise but said the steak was maybe a new batch? We over heard the other server telling a customer they'd rsn out of steak pie so our 2 portions must have been their last! I was so disappointed 😞 I'll unfortunately not be back! The old canny man was second to none and I wish it could be the same.

Absolutely gutted to be writing this review as had really high hopes for here but unfortunately we were very disappointed. We arrived about 4:15pm on Tuesday, and were the only table to begin with. Starters did take a while. The prawn cocktail starter was enjoyed and good portion size and the haggis Bon bons were enjoyed too. The lentil soup unfortunately was tasteless, not sure how you can go wrong with lentil soup but I never add salt to food but it was definitely necessary to make it edible. After starters we then waited a got to be easily an hour for the mains. The waitress did apologise after she seen us looking when they delivered food to a table that came in ages after us, she said that the Chateaubriand was taking a bit longer and chef wouldn’t put out until it was perfect. When they finally arrived the fish & chips were enjoyed, the burger was ok. The Chateaubriand came as a full slab of meat, and unfortunately not the medium we had ordered. I would say rare inside and well done on outside. It was also stone cold and tomatoes were missing, (not normally a big deal but it was £59.95 for the meat, chips & tomatoes) they were also out of a lot of steak sauces. After being in there nearly 2 hours at this point we just didn’t have time or energy to send it back and having not eaten all day we were starving. The Mac and cheese side looked good but was completely tasteless. Overall considering how quiet it was there’s not really an excuse for food this bad, especially with the price of the steak too, if your going to sell such a high price point item you really need to be spot on with the cooking. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the waitress very nice and has a lot of potential but the food needs a huge amount of work. Wasn’t cheap for what we received either.

We stumbled upon this place on the way to Mclarens nurseries and definitely won’t be back. I don’t understand how this place is open, it’s huge building, only had two tables - that doesn’t look great for Sunday lunch. We had the salt & chilli burger and Mac and cheese. Both were disappointing far below the standard. The burger was meant to be buttermilk fried, the staff advised it grilled and then fried - That sounds very strange, why would you grill then fry? What’s leftover is a soggy mess (I have feeling it was microwaved). It was also meant to be served with a curry sauce, which we didn’t get, I was advised this is served on the side, why not have confidence in your food and serve it how it’s meant to be served, are customers expected to dip the burger in small pot of sauce? If someone doesn’t like they could ask for it to be removed. I think the location has potential but needs an overhaul of menus and staff. I think management need to visit restaurants around Glasgow to see the offerings (bucks bar for the burger as a starter). I understand with inflation things are margins are tight but customers won’t mind paying a couple of extra ££ for a better product.

The service was great, and the waitress was attentive. The food was pretty mediocre. We feel for any restaurant in the current situation, but there's no excuse for offering poorly made simple dishes. The patatas bravas was dreadful. Sorry, Canny Man, but we didn't enjoy our food.

I do hate leaving bad reviews but unfortunately it may benefit the management in accepting some constructive criticism. The staff and their service was great but the food was very poor. I ordered the fillet steak and my Mrs the cajun chicken. Both were very poor. The steak for 32 quid was like a stewing steak and didn't taste good. The pasta was bland and milky with no spice to it. Staff were great but the food needs attention.

My partner and I popped in for lunch yesterday (03/04/2022) and had the 2 courses for £15 offer, to start I had the cheddar mushrooms on toasted sourdough which were absolutely delicious, my partner had haggis bon bons with peppercorn sauce which was equally delicious and the sauce was so good she was tempted to lick the plate, next up were the mains which if the starters were anything to go by were going to be amazing, I ordered the steak pie and my partner had the fish and chips, both staples of any pub in the land but also two favourites of ours, I can honestly say the steak pie was first class, beautifully rich with melt in the mouth beef, which interestingly was shin which is thought of as a cheaper cut as it requires long slow cooking, well the kitchen team obviously know their stuff as it was faultless, the fish and chips equally so with all the standard bits of mushy peas, a good homemade tartar sauce and pickled onions. Service was spot on, the gentleman who served us was attentive without being intrusive, and was polite with just the right amount of banter. All in all it was a great first visit and we will definitely be back again.

It used to be the place to go. Unfortunately it's not anymore since its changed hands. The menu prices on website are cheaper than in the restraunt. When we visited half of the menu wasn't available. The kids menu was £2.50 dearer. It generally didn't feel clean. The landscaping outside is long overdue some maintenance. The kids park isn't safe. The slabs on the lead up to it are all raised and uneven. Best to avoid until they sort it out. We left before our drinks arrived as there was far to many red flags.

A steak place with no steaks listed on the menu, just an invitation to discuss what they had, soup and pate were both unavailable, locked fire exit, no music and the atmosphere of a deserted shed. Food was unremarkable, think they may have deep fried the burger, view from the windows was of rubbish in the gardens, framed by a pot plant that must have died back when it was the Paraffin Lamp. The 2 staff were cheery but it's not getting my repeat business . In the middle of nowhere, you need to be good, not mediocre with bad paintwork, a broken hand dryer and overflowed bin the the gents, at 12.30 on a Saturday.

Stopped in here on the way home but wish we hadn’t as my partner has been ill since. Both ordered burgers, they looked good when they came out, was advised that they had no haggis left for the the Scotsman burger ordered. The pepper sauce to go with this tasted very burnt and had a chemical taste, and did not taste like peppercorn sauce, the burger overall was not good at all. I don’t really like complaining but the meal was basically inedible besides the “hand cut” chips. I did advise the waitress of this and was offered another meal or free desert but to be honest by that point was completely put off and as I suffer from stomachs problems did not want to chance at all. There was no offer to deduct anything off the bill so in the end £15 was spend on frozen chips. My partner who ordered the cheeseburger ate his burger but did say it wasn’t great, but he not eat his chips and within about half an hour of leaving the restaurants my partner was feeling very sick, and has since been really unwell. Had been here before lockdown and it was really nice so that’s why we had chosen here but will defiantly not be back. Waste of money.

Awfulfood. Went for Christmas lunch and have never had such a bad meal anywhere. Was just terrible. Soup wasn't cooked, still raw veg and lentils and no seasoning. Beef was tough, roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked days ago and reheated hours before or frozen ones which had already been reheated some time ago then stuck in the microwave again to warm up. Trifle wasnt a trifle, have no idea what the frozen yucky stuff they gave us was but it was inedible like the rest of the meal, also seemed like it had been defrosted weeks ago, was just a pile of hard slices of goodness knows what. There were lots of full plates going back to the kitchen. Restaurant was freezing. No atmosphere at all. Prices for meals were ridiculous. Ignored our comments re poor food. Would definately not recommend. Ruined our Christmas for sure, and our pockets.

We all would have ordered desserts but after the mains we did not see a waiter/waitress at all and unfortunately had to leave without. Overall the group I was with were quite disappointed. Food is excellent, service is a bit slow but saying that there wasn't many staff on duty. UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! This place has severely gone downhill since being taken over, went here today 31.07.2021 for my birthday lunch, menu is a joke, 1 sheet of paper with a choice of about 6 starters, 6 mains and no desert menu. Staff have no clue what they are doing, didn't even bother to remove all the wine glasses from the table when we had just ordered soft drinks. Didn't even bring cutlery for the starter, sat or stood about the bar drinking and chatting while people waited to be served. We both ordered the burger and took one bite, it was obviously a clump of the cheapest mincemeat money can buy as it was full of gristle and fat, it was just thrown onto a bun and wasn't even shaped into a reasonable round shape, wife and I just could not eat it. They did remove 1 of them from the bill but we didn't eat either of them, and the best bit, overcharged us for 3 coca colas when we only had 2. We will definitely not be back to the padaro, unless they bring back the old staff and use previous meat suppliers,(tullochs butcher). All in all it was a disastrous meal and the padaro has lost 2 more regulars, what a shame. I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give minus.

5 stars for the staff. There were only two waitresses and they were pretty busy with a few largish groups in (we were a table of 7). But still, they fetched a high chair when asked and kindly unboxed two birthday cakes, applied candles and brought them out with candles lit and singing Happy Birthday. To our delight, other diners joined in. Jugs of water were supplied on request with slices of lemon in, which is always a nice gesture. Service was obviously a little slower but cannot fault the staff for they did their best. However, the high chair was either faulty or badly designed as, after a trip to the loo, my grandaughter's plate slid off and crashed to the floor. One of my guests was hit with shards of pottery causing minor injury. He didn't want a fuss so we did not harass the staff. The staff cleared the mess and we shared our food with my wailing grandaughter although she had eaten most of her dinner earlier. The food was adequate but nowhere near the standard enjoyed on our last visit. The menu was very limited, which may be understandable after all the lockdown and supply issues, but the quality was less than expected from experience. I hope in time this restaurant will return to its previous high quality and staffing levels. Cheers for the staff though.

We chose Padaro for a birthday meal for my partner and family. First of all we wete suprised that we were the only cars in the car park and the place was empty. Next thing was the menu shown on Facebook was not on offer and we were given a single sheet of paper and told that was it. Asked why and was told that it was new chefs, but thought that if you were a chef you could cook more that fish and chips, steak and steak pie. Didnt take long to for my partner and myself to decide on steak pie but that was a big mistake. The steak pe was a spoon of meat with a small piece of flakey pastry placed on top. They had forgotren to cook the veg, the mashed potatoes was powered potato, the chips could have done with an extra 10 minutes in the frier. The meat was so tough it couldnt be eaten and the pie crust was stone cold. We hardly ate any of the meal but made our point to the waitress. What on earth is going on with this place. We ate there last year and had a great meal but will not be back again. Saving grace was they took of the price of the steak pie meals.

I preferred when this place was the canny man. Foods fine but not as good as it used to be.

Very overpriced for a very poor menu no choice expecially for vegans and vegetarians, the beef burger was full of gristle the pasta was very bland, the macaroni was very thin, not any of our party enjoyed their food, no dessert menu was offered, only good part of our visit was very pleasant server's wouldn't recommend and definitely won't be returning.

Steak returned twice. Asked for fish -no chips. Fish came on top of chips and the waitress attempted to separate the meal at the table. Very poor.

The place looks nice but the food is horrible. My husband ordered a Thai Curry - no veggies at all apart from a completely raw red onion (????). Tasted really bad. I had the steak pie and mash and carrots where ice cold. Relatively expensive for what it is. You can enjoy a drink in their beer garden but avoid the food wherever possible

Very happy with this find. Dog-friendly and fantastic food! Annie was running around as they were short-staffed, but the service was excellent, she was friendly and even took time to empathise with my son who had cut his arm when he fell off the swing. Even so, I've waited longer for my food in restaurants with 10 times the staff. Thoroughly recommend and Annie is a credit.

our first visit was great, food was lovely but service a little hit and miss, so we decided to try it again but food wasn't to the same standard. It was the worst chicken tempura I have ever had, batter was soggy and looked more like chicken balls from the Chinese than tempura. We could see the chef in the kitchen from where we were sitting and he was more on his phone than he was cooking, he should have been concentrating on the job in hand! The chips were half cooked and salad wasn't very nice, so very mixed reviews! Not sure if we would go back as it was rather expensive for poor quality food! Edit-returned again but steaks were fatty and service was so slow and burgers were tiny but not worth £11 each! Starters were delicious this time but frozen onion rings out of a bag not fresh like last time!
