Came to the Canbury Arms for an early Boxing Day dinner. Great food and service and would definitely recommend and come again.

We had a wonderful meal with my parents on Christmas Eve. Jess, our server, was highly professional, warm, smiley and accommodating. The food was excellent and well justified the prices. Even though the restaurant was running low on a number of dishes this did not spoil things. The ambience was terrific even though the table was a little too wide so that conversation with the person opposite you was difficult. Well done Jess.

I had a lovely experience on Christmas Eve at the Canbury Arms. Angus made sure my group and I were well accommodated so the service was brilliant! I ordered the Espresso Martini and it was lush! Very good experience.

Went for work Christmas party. Pub itself is nice with a pleasant atmosphere, but dinner was served in a private room upstairs. A cold soulless room that sucks the life out of any party (with a pitiful wilting christmas tree in the corner). Food was terrible, lots of food left by myself and colleagues, the risotto had a pool of oil in the bottom of it! Roast potatoes were barely edible, sprouts tasted weird (and i love sprouts). Then at 10pm a member of staff comes up waving a bill saying it needs to be paid, most people would've continued drinking downstairs but this put an abrupt end to the evening for a lot of people.

Went for a Sunday roast with friends but it was an average Sunday roast! Was expecting the quality to be better for the price! Also starters were average too. Atmosphere was nice and pleasant

Our table of 4 was right at the back of the restaurant, close to the kitchen. Whilst it was quiet for us to talk, there was no atmosphere as we didn’t feel part of the restaurant. 2 of us ordered fish and chips. It was only after the order had been placed the waiter came back to say this dish was not available. As we were effectively the first sitting of the evening the waiter should have known in advance what was off the menu. Two orders were then Sausage and mash with crackling. When the dish arrived there no crackling. When we asked the waiter he did t know why but came back to say it had run out too. Whilst the sausages were tasty the mash was bland, no seasoning and not creamy and gravy was ok, tasted more like a granule mix. It should have been elevated using onions/wine etc The chicken schnitzel was greasy and not really enjoyed but the burger was good Sticky toffee pudding was delicious but the crumble was not a crumble, more of a floury/powdery insistency Staff were nice enough but we did feel we were ‘ out on a limb’ with the area we sat in Overall really disappointed with the quality of food I’m sad to say

Popped in to pick up wife from a do thing upstairs whilst waiting in bar we then stayed for a few. Really nice tucked away place. Seek it out people!

Great place for community and food.

Updated September 2024. I have reduced my rating down from 5 stars. The reason is that we often drink here as a family, but the price now of half a pint of lemonade (for our children) is a whopping £3.60, with a full pint costing £3.70. I quizzed the staff on this twice and they agree that the half pint price feels expensive but they still choose to charge it. So I begrudge paying over £7 for 2 x half pints of cheap lemonade for our two small kids and so will come less often!! The positives are its a nice quality pub and they sell Sheredrop, my fave beer. The food however has never been as good as it was before Youngs took it over.

We had a wonderful birthday party in the upstairs room at the Canbury, with a selection of tasty food and plenty of staff help with organising. Rebecca was great with communication and planning, while Charly, Mafi & Tatum could not have been more friendly and flexible on the night.

Incredible experience. I ordered the brie cheese dish as a starter (wonderful) and the roast beef for the main course (large portion well served). The service was great too and the decor of the restaurant is beautiful.

We had the most wonderful experience at canbury arms. Stumbled upon this pub for dinner and ended up staying for 4 hours for pub quiz night!! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone! What a local UK experience. The service was lovely and I will be returning.

I'm a local in Kingston, and the Canbury Arms is definitely my favorite bar, doggy friendly and lovely staff. The beer garden is covered with heaters and a gastro menu is available, they also make an awesome roast on Sunday's, but book as it is very popular with families. Mafi and Milly always look after me with great service, and the other staff are equally great. It's my meeting place when friends come over, they always comment 'great local, wish I had something like this on my doorstep!'

The pub is beautiful, and the food was great. The service was a bit slow but good overall. The reason I'm giving two stars is due to an incredibly misandrist comment the hostess made when was trying to calm down my upset son after he was woken up by a loud noise. It was the kind of comment that wouldn't be acceptable at all if a man said it to a woman. was so baffled that my response was, "What was that?" to which the hostess happily repeated what she said, word for word.

Used the Canbury Arms’ private dining room for a corporate booking - we had an excellent evening. Brilliant space that worked perfectly for what we needed, great food and fab service from Mafalda and Tatum. The team were so helpful on email beforehand, nothing was told much trouble. Thanks team for looking after us so well!

A lot of the food ordered they didn’t have and that was at a normal time of 1.30. No calves liver and no pies but spent a very enjoyable few hours there all the same.

I have to say that this is the second time I have been here and what an amazing time I have had. The service is absolutely amazing especially from Millie & Murphy who served me whose service was exceptional I will definitely be recommending this beautiful place to all my friends and family. Great little pub settled inside a quaint road! Mafie (manager )and Tatum (bar staff) really make each and every visit better then the last. Great service, I don't even need to give my order as they know it (I may add, I don't regularly visit, but they still remember my order!)

Rebecca at the Canbury Arms is absolutely wonderful and the pubs atmosphere is so welcoming and inclusive.

Eaten here a few times and the food is normally very good. However, the food is often served luke warm rather than hot, particularly the steak.

Lovely pub and staff. Food was alright I gave it 4 stars as Caesar salad dressing was like water had to get more dressing which came out a completely different consistency (as it should) and think lettuce maybe could be cut fresh for a salad as it's not very appealing to have a lot of browning going on within your diced lettuce. Otherwise a good place to go and fairly priced for the area.

Friendly quick service and great food and drinks. We come here a lot as my dad lives just around the corner and the welcome is always fantastic, I’ve never had a bad dish and the atmosphere is always great. Nice decor, lots of space, bright and airy dining room, book a table and get there early. Highly recommended.

This pub is in two parts, a very nice upscale pub section and a very nice restaurant section. The food and drinks options are diverse and upscale. The bar has wine, beer and a good selection of cocktails. The decor is attractive, the seating is comfy and the restrooms are clean.

First visit to the Canbury Arms. Very impressed. Really well presented. Had Sunday lunch which was excellent and then moved into the courtyard for pudding and drinks. The staff ( Mia, Milly and Evie) were very cheerful and attentive. Will certainly come back again.

We had the delightful experience of enjoying a Sunday roast with friends at the Canbury Arms pub in Kingston. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the cheerful smiles and courteous nature of the staff. Nick kindly guided us to our table, presented us with menus, and took the time to explain the specials of the day while noting which items were unfortunately unavailable, including the chicken roast and a few others. However, we were quite pleased with the other offerings available. The food arrived in a timely manner, certainly no longer than 20 minutes, and I must say, it was wonderfully hot, with the roast potatoes being exceptionally crunchy. Nick was incredibly attentive, ensuring that both our party and the other tables around us were well looked after, displaying a delightful sense of humor as well. After our meal, Nick inquired if we would like tea, coffee, or desserts; only one member of our group opted for dessert – the Eton mess – which was once again delightful. Overall, we were thoroughly pleased with the service, the food, and the lovely atmosphere of the pub. We are genuinely grateful to have stumbled upon this charming establishment, and we are looking forward to our future visits. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

I recently visited The Canbury Arms for a roast dinner and had a great experience. The food was delicious, with the roast cooked just right and the vegetables nicely seasoned. Tatum, our waiter, was attentive and friendly, making sure we were well taken care of. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I definitely recommend The Canbury Arms for a tasty and enjoyable meal."

Superb, lovely little find in Kingston! We were 12 guests visiting the private room upstairs. We were a little late and a little merry on arrival but the atmosphere from the staff was incredible. They made us feel so welcome and were really accommodating. I can't remember the names of the staff, but we visited on Friday 26th July.

Everything was so nice except that almost all items on the menu weren’t available, which was a shame. But service and staff were lovely.

I came for lunch yesterday and had a great meal. The server, Josh, was very friendly and happy to help us. Will definitely be coming back.

The barman Tom greeted us with charm that immediately put us at ease feeling welcome in this tremendous local pub. The seating in the beer garden was comfortable and Tom kept us topped up with friendly table service. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly for a friendly, local pint with an authentic feel.

Small things go a long way- and table service top ups without having to even ask the question makes this a very pleasant drinking experience. Big shout out to Tom who is the main man who makes the difference.

Been meaning to visit this excellent modern boozer, great choice of beer, spirits and ales having not been here for almost 10 years. Had one of the best poured Guinness's I have had in a long time. Was very quiet for a Friday morning but to be expected. Service was top notch, highly recommended.

Great pub, with loads of space indoors and outside. Excellent menu and great service. It gets busy at times, which can slow service and food sometimes, but that happens almost everywhere. Highly recommended

Disappointingly empty on a sunny Thursday lunchtime. Lily and Ben were very helpful and friendly, food offer was a bit boring with very little choice for vegans.

Excellent Sunday roast and sides. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Service was very good (no drama when I asked for a different table). Will definitely be going back.

Although the service was good the food was not up to standard, we all had steak , we asked for a salad instead of chips and was charged for both , and as for the Eaton Mess it was just meringue with a cheep sauce , no fresh fruit or cream or , lce cream over all very disappointing

Food has been much improved since it went slightly downhill a while ago. Really enjoyed it. Every dish was extremely well cooked and tasty. Will make this a regular once again. Well done to the new staff!

Great little pub in the back roads of Kingston, I highly recommend the food here. it's really good quality, and all of our group agreed. The chicken, ham and leak pie was packed full of quality chunks of meat. The beer is good too 😋

Nice staff and a solid pint. Vegan burger was a little underwhelming for the price to be fair. Will be back to drink again soon though

To echo previous comments; I was so pleased with the whole experience at the Canbury Arms when I was lucky enough to be part of Dog and Vic’s fantastic wedding celebration. We may have waited 25 years for the bride and groom to get their act together but Bruce and the team more than did their bit to help all of us feel special.

We had our wedding lunch here on 27th April 24. Bruce and his team we brilliant to work with ,helped us plan menus, drinks, and organised an amazing space for us our 50 guests. The food was fab, the service was brilliant and everything was very relaxed and beautiful organised. We all had an amazing day, thanks loads to everyone at the Canbury Arms.

Food was good but service was poor. The restaurant wasn’t that busy but we have to flag the waitress each time for service. The service was lacking, wine was just placed on the table, not opened and not poured. Atmosphere wise, the venue is nice but lacking atmosphere as it was half empty lacking the buzz.

Ru lovely lunch and the staff (and punters!) were super friendly - will be coming back. Also v dog friendly and my pup got lots of attention and treats so he was happy!

We really used to enjoy the Canbury arms but the last few visits have been disappointing, with our most recent visit concluding that it has to drop off our list for a while. We ordered garlic mushrooms, and were confused as the mushrooms were cold. They were actually so cold we assumed that they were intended to be served that way, so we didn’t say anything at the time. Only to our disappointment did our roast dinners come out with several elements on the plate being fridge cold. The gravy had curdled and was congealed in lumps over the veg and potatoes. We don’t normally complain/send things back but all of our plates had to be sent back for the gravy to be replaced and for reheating. They came back lukewarm - a slight improvement, rendering them just about edible, but our disappointment remained. Even the Yorkshire could be snapped in half like a stale biscuit. Honestly, it’s such a shame that this potentially lovely place is resorting to poorly reheating food that clearly has been sitting around far too long. Please get someone competent in your kitchen!! It’s such a waste, and over very silly and very avoidable mistakes :-(. Money down the drain…

Lovely local! We've been going there for many years. On this bank holiday Monday occasion we just felt the service staff, although they tried thrif best, was very poorly trained in basic skills. The plant burger was good, just very small and the red onions should be cut into finer rings than what we had. Good decision to have really great chips and not fries with it! Could not locate a beef burger on the menu? The mushroom gnocchi looked and tasted lovely, however had an enormous amount of oily residue in the bottom of the plate which caused slight concern and followed by slight nausea later in the evening. Fish & chips absolutely spot on! Still loving the Canbury Arms though!

Sadly no draught Guinness on this occasion! And only other grumble was that the kitchen needed to have changed the washing machine water, rinse aid and or softener, everything was stained and smeared, otherwise, staff wear polite and reasonably attentive on what had clearly been a busy Easter holiday weekend. If you want to escape always worth checking out the dinning room upstairs (if not booked) with its open fire ‘cosy’!

Organised an area in the bar for some drinks for my Husbands birthday and we had a great time. Only negatives were a member of staff behind the bar served myself and friend our drinks but when we asked him for a bowl to just put some crisps in he replied with "where would I get a bowl from?? I don't even work here!" Which we thought was extremely odd & abit rude but other than the young man behind the bar, other staff members were friendly! The atmosphere was very lively with the rugby on which added to our day & will definitely return in the future

went for a sunday roast and was the best one we’ve had in a while!

The beef within the roast was fantastic; I would definitely get that again there. The roast as a whole was great too, including the texture of the potatoes (crispy coating, soft in the middle, and easy to cut through) albeit I'd have liked the potatoes to have been more seasoned. There was a great amount of gravy as well, albeit a little thicker would have been best. Great atmosphere & decor inside the pub, with friendly & helpful service.
