The Cambrian Restaurant in Ceredigion

After a meal in the haven resort which was very poor we opted 8 of us to give the Cambrian a go traditional pub setting however the food was very good all fresh nothing microwaved here attentive staff chef actually came out to see us to see if we were all happy a very nice touched and thanked us for choosing his restaurant very busy with diners overall a great find well done Cambrian gang !

The Cambrian is situated on the main road into New Quay it’s a 20 min walk from the town but is also conveniently placed opposite the Haven holiday park & near numerous B&B’s. We stopped for a week in New Quay and visited here on a couple of occasions walking both times which was worth the walk for the food we had. We ate once and really enjoyed the food which was cooked fresh while we waited. We had our two Labradors with us and the bar area is dog friendly and our boys were made very welcome. The chef came to speak to us and told us about the specials before ordering which resulted in us ordering some of them. I ordered a flaming chorizo for starters which was a whole chorizo on a ceramic boat which was then lit in front of me and the flames cooked the chorizo as I waited which was a real nice touch of flair. My wife had the mussels which were fresh & delicious. For mains my wife had king prawn linguine she didn’t want too much fresh chilli & upon asking the chef toned down the amount he put in which was perfect. I had the chicken a la creme of which the sauce was really tasty. Washed down with some Welsh Black Dragon cider it was a very enjoyable meal & the chef came back to check that everything was good with our food. The service was very good, relaxed & friendly and we would definitely recommend it don’t miss this place just because it’s sat outside of the town centre.

The best roast carvery in town, eaten many times here before, evening meals are lovely, staff are great, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing service and wonderful tasty food. We came on the last night of our holiday which was a big mistake! We should have come much sooner! Our 10 year old thought it was the best tomato pasta he had ever eaten and he has tried a lot.

We always eat at the Cambrian when we're visiting New Quay, and our last visit was no different. The welcome is invariably warm; the staff are attentive, pleasant, and helpful. There have been occasions when my choice hasn't been available, but it's not a problem - there's always a good alternative and I've never been disappointed because the food is so deliciously flavoursome.

Had a lovely Anniversary meal here. Super food from Fernando , plus great service from Lisa. Will definitely be back!

The most beautiful grilled fish dish! Cooked to perfection,with a delicious dressing. This venue is not to be missed. Friendly staff too.

Staying nearby so called in for Sunday lunch. Very busy but the staff were really friendly and helpful. Lunch was spot on and plenty of it. A nice touch was the chef went round every table checking everyone was happy with their meals. Enjoyable lunch, would definitely recommend. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome.

We were staying at Quay West holiday park and decided to call in for a couple of pints, and whilst we there we booked a table for the following evening. Boy we are glad we had three lovely meals, the wife and I both had Chicken and our son had Spaghetti Carbonara all three of us cleared our plates; mmmmmm! Then we had our desserts, the wife had Homemade Crème Caramel which she told Fernando the chef it was the best she had tasted, I had the Homemade Tiramisu which was bloody handsome; and our son had the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream which was gorgeous. Fernando came around to every table and asked everyone if our meal was up to scratch and everybody in the restaurant said yes.

Two of our party had pulled pork which was very tasty but at least half the pork was fat. Carbonaa was was beautiful as was the child's portion of spaghetti and sauce (no meat or veg - which was £8.50 which was a bit expensive) the chicken pizziola was not wonderful, some of the chicken was crispy and the sauce was far too salty and had a bitter taste. We have been visiting the Cambrian for many years but iI don't think we will be back especially at the prices. The staff were very attentive.

Carvery was really tasty, with good selection of veg. Chef was both generous with meat and really engaged with customers. All staff serving were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Can’t wait to return.

Were stopping on a site 15 minute walk away was recommended her by Owen. The food is stunning the chef even came out to chat thats confidence in his cooking and the service is spot on as well.

The best mussels and vegetarian pasta I have ever eaten, I wish I lived local so I could eat here every week, staff were lovely, lovely atmosphere and amazing food!

The restaurant is opposite the Haven caravan park and didn't look particularly appealing from outside. Appearances can however be deceptive. The menu was predominately Italian with a great range of choice particularly for vegetarians. I had the king prawn linguine which was excellent and my wife had the Chicken in a masala sauce which she enjoyed. The service was both efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The chef came out of the kitchen to talk to customers and check everything was OK.

Booking was mixed up, they got numbers wrong. Carvery was limited on most things, not help yourself. A bit rushed as deserts came out slow and staff hurried us out for next sittings. Not a great experience. A shame as it used to be a good carvery.

We are staying close by on holiday and reading the reviews for this place decided to give it a try. We were pleased we did. We had a warm welcome and the service was very good. The food from the vegetarian and vegan menu was delicious - so tasty!

We have been here a week and this was hands down the best meal out all week. The service, the quality of the food, the atmosphere were all spot on. Could not have asked for a better way to end our holiday. Highly recommend to anyone in New Quay that they pay a visit to Rossinis at the Cambrian. We will certainly be returning

Have visited this family pub and restaurant many, many times over the years. Where do I start?Always a wonderful welcome off Steve and Gaynor and all their staff. It's the perfect place to visit alone or with the family to enjoy a quiet drink or a meal.The Sunday lunches are the best around, especially the Carvery if restrictions allow.As for the Cambrian breakfast, it is legendary! We were away in New Quay for 4 nights and before we arrived we wanted to book a family dinner for our daughters 10th birthday. After a bit of searching we booked this restaurant for the birthday. It turned out to be very convenient as it was close to where we were staying. Made the booking and along came Tuesday. We had made the booking for 7pm and of course we arrived early. It was no problem we were informed that we could have a drink at the bar or go to our table, but might not be able to order our food till 7pm. We decided to go to our table where we were able to order drinks, these arrived promptly, we were then informed by our waitress that she would check with the kitchen to see if we could order our dinner. She came back and said we could, so we did. We ordered starters for all and these came out quickly and were well presented and tasted great. I had the mango and brie parcels, my wife that the prawn cocktail and the kids had garlic bread. These were devoured and then came the main meals. My wife had the chicken sizzler and I had the rump steak, both cooked to perfection and one thing I really liked about the meal is that the plates were hot and the food was piping hot as well. Cold plates and warm food is a pet hate of mine. While we were having our meal the owner [I think] came over and quietly said I believe it is a birthday and those the birthday girl like chocolate? I replied yes. After finishing our meal we were asked if we would like dessert we got the menu and I ordered a cheese cake. Out came my dessert and a slice of hot chocolate fudge cake for my daughter with a candle in it. It topped off a really lovely evening. We left there happy and full. We had a great evening with excellent service, lovely hot food and friendly staff. Thank You

We were not disappointed with this place. Polite staff, great decor, and most importantly, great food. The staff used face masks and there was hand sanitizer for the customers. We had a 6 pm booking and sat by the window overlooking the Haven caravan park. I look forward to eating here the next time we stay in New Quay.

Cannot fault the place at all. Lovely friendly staff everything about this place well managed and thought out during the COVID precautions 1st meal was lovely haven’t been anywhere else for an evening meal. Never tasted steak like it just melted in your mouth, lasagne lovely, kids meals perfect, cannot say enough good things about this inn & restaurant cosy,comfortable. Perfect.

Excellent rump steak, it really melted in the mouth, with perfectly cooked chips and accompaniments. Warm chocolate fudge cake was to die for too! Very friendly service and Covid precautions well thought out, though having to have one of the doors open made it a bit chilly, but I will bring a pullover next time as there definitely is going to be a next time.

On our holidays booked in a table of 6! What can i say other than absolutely amazing food!!!! We're only in New Quay for 3 more days but we've already booked to come back and eat here at least one more time!If your ever in New Quay I wouldn't hesitate to recommend eating here.

We stayed over night in the Cambrian, they have a lovely building, very good food, great location and are extremely helpful. The room was great, very comfortable and we had to leave quite early in the morning so they very kindly had breakfast ready half an hour earlier than usual. Great restaurant and hotel, definitely would recommend.

Absalotly shocking treatment we arrived to a near empty restaurant, after been watched struggle through the bar with two pushchairs we took a seat at a table, after about 10mins of sitting looking at the menu someone shouted across the restaurant that they were fully booked and couldn't fit us in for over an hour n a half, despite the fact only two other tables were occupied.Firstly why were we not told on arrival it was fully booked, and why was it dreamed acceptable to shout across a room rather that coming to speak to us!There was no obvious waiting area to be seated, no reserved signs on any tables and nobody to check you in.There is absolutely no excuse for this sort of poor service and rude treatment.

We were staying in the hotel and the weather wasn't great so we decided to eat in on our first night. The meal exceeded our expectations so we decided to eat in on the second night too and were, once again, not disappointed. We would definitely recommend eating here if you're in the vicinity. Really nice.

Spotted this was dog friendly so made our way over, we were told we can't eat in the restaurant with the dog only in the bar, no problem, only for information. We were told if we had booked we could have had the restaurant menu in the bar. Son had the monster bap and it was huge, wife had scampi and I had madras. Food was excellent, even the dog was treated to a couple of treats. Staff were friendly and helpful. Conservatory we sat in was nice and bright even on a dull dreary day. Recommended.

Ate here 4 times during our week on the camp opposite, would of been more if had a longer stay!! Steve, Gaynor & the team are brilliant, hopefully not sold up by next year 🤞✌️

Wonderful food, great customer service from the serving staff and chef. Pity about the absolute disgraceful behaviour of the barman (owner?). You’d think you where making him a favour going to the venue!. Was not very pleasant at all!!!! Venue needs to be refurbished .

Came here this evening for food with my partner, our dog and two of our friends. All of us were super happy with our food, well priced and man behind the bar very friendly and helpful. If I were a local I'd be in here all the time, and that's a fact!

Popped in here for dinner as it was close to the B&B; we were staying at, wish we had walked to town!! It is a real shame as the building is stunning but it clearly needs investment, the chap behind the bar clearly wasn't having a good day with a poor attitude to customers, the food quality in the bar was not good at all, fully appreciate when buying from the bar menu at a fiver you can't expect top standards but I thought I would splash out and went for the burger at £11.95 all I can say it was bad and wish i had stuck with the safe fiver option, it is however dog friendly in the bar area and the bar man did give our dog treats which our Benson thoroughly enjoyed, would go in for a drink in the future but would not eat from the bar menu.
