The Cadeby Pub & Restaurant in Doncaster

Four of us dinned 20:30 yesterday (Saturday night). The menu has only ever been limited in size and they do not do any specials. We were seated on time and told that the Belly Pork main had run out. 2 of us ordered steaks only to be told that only one was available, 5 minutes later we were told that the steak had also run out and so had to select something else. So now 25% of the main course options were not available. The one meat option remaining was the beef burger. We both ordered fish and chips and they were excellent but not what I would have ordered or called at Saturday evening meal out. Two of us had the black pudding starter, it was warm and dry whilst looking like a chocolate brownieand nothing like black pudding , it was not to our liking but others may enjoy. £195 later we left. Only 9 days earlier I went with five friends for lunch (£202) and it was excellent. This was the old menu and more suited to our taste plus it was all available. I have been at least four other occasions last year and it has always been excellent service and quality food and we have all been eager to go back, but no more. Either go early or do what I am doing and that's giving it a big miss. My guess is that as its Sunday lunch only the next day, closed on Monday and pie night Tuesday they don't want to be left with anything, hence the go early or don't bother comment. I was fancying the pie night but as we don't eat early its likely that the only pie available will be the one that I don't like as they now don't do pies on any other day.

We stopped by for a Sunday roast as we were passing through. They got us in last minute and the food was incredible. Service was great, the place is lovely and cosy. We are big eaters but were stuffed after finishing - it’s a good portion! They had a good offer of £30 for 2.

Very disappointed, after traveling over an hour to eat here all 4 in my party found the food varsity over priced for what it was, I had a Thai curry that was watery and tasted of nothing, it could have come out of a can for all I know! The other in my party all had different foods but felt they had the same experience. The service was also poor, uninviting, slow and never the same waiter/waitress twice! After spending £150 on an afternoon meal I don't think I'm expecting to much from the place. I will not be returning.

Myself, my partner, my dad and step mum, plus my two dogs chose this place for our once a year Christmas get together, mainly because the food looked incredible and they allowed dogs. We got there, greeted well, seated, and our drinks order was taken. Once the drinks arrived we waited 15 mins to even see someone to ask to order our food. Fine whatever I guess they're busy. We ordered our food and also ordered some pigs in blankets for the dogs. We specifically said they were for the dogs. We asked for plain pigs in blankets. Mine and my step mums starters came, with no sign of the other two starters. So ours went cold as why would we eat without the others eating, it's courtesy when you think the other starters will be out straight after?? Right? No. The other starters hadn't even been put through on the till. They came eventually but our starters were now cold. My dad ordered a prawn cocktail. It came with no sauce? We complained. They took it back and just threw some on the top and we knew it was the same because he had taken a bite out the bread. Okay fine whatever. All of the hot starters were cold, even when my partners came out late it was still cold. Mains. Firstly they brought out the dogs food. PIGS IN BLANKETS WITH BATTER AND CRANBERRY SAUCE ?? Come on. Fine okay the kitchen didn't get the message about the dogs. We can forgive that as they brought regular ones out soon after. We all then got our food. Mine was the salmon. Lovely, tasted great. Dad got his bangers and mash, fine he enjoyed his. My partner got the Thai red curry, or should I say the whole Malden salt tub in a bowl of cream and some veg and rice. I took one taste and thought my cholesterol would be ruined. We sent it back and asked for nothing instead, she just wanted to leave at that point. Step mums pie and mash. Something tasted burnt. Thought it was the mushy peas which had a slight burnt bit. Nope. It was the gravy. It was like the pan of gravy had been cooking all day and the bottom had burnt which ruined the whole pot of gravy, or atleast the gravy they gave her as my dad's gravy wasn't too bad. She ate 3 mouthfuls and left the rest. We obviously told the staff how bad of an experience we had had the whole time we were there. They only made us pay for the two rounds of drinks and the two mains we had eaten. My step mum being my step mum still wasn't happy but that's understandable with how BAD the whole experience was. We were told by the bar staff that they were actually alone and no manager was even on site. As an assistant manager in a restaurant myself and my partner being an ex GM we were appalled. In no way, no matter the business, your service is going to go down the drain if there is no appointed person on site to run the shift. Just because you might be able to do cash up, doesn't mean you can deal with a problem and manage a shift. Absolutely baffled. What made the night worse was a random woman came and butted into our conversation with what we believe was a manager off shift trying to help, saying we were embarrassing ourselves. I don't know who she thought she was but she should have been told to walk away and not get involved. But she was never dealt with. Clearly a regular. I'll be embarrassed when I feel embarrassed not when someone tells me to. We were then shoved out the door without paying so that nothing escalated with this random woman. As a manger myself, I'm not writing this review for potential customers per se, but I am wanting to let the manager/s of this restaurant know how to better yourselves. And how not to serve customers who were so excited to come to this restaurant and were heavily disappointed. I couldn't imagine leaving staff by themselves. Thanks

Brilliant night at Cadeby for a lads get together after Xmas

A bit out of the way, but this is a really nice place. The food was good, staff were friendly and efficient, overall a very good experience.

This place is normally a great place to eat at a reasonable price . However they got New Year’s Eve completely wrong . Charged £50 per head for what ended up being a cheese board , meat balls and sausage rolls . Was obviously everything they had left over from Christmas . It states on the advert it was ticket only . However many people just wandered in to the disco without paying . It was a complete rip off what was given . It also stated you would receive a mince pie and drink at midnight , we ordered these but they never arrived . The manager tried to state he didn’t even no what food was on offer that night . Was a complete shambles and waste of money

After a hectic Christmas it was time for us. Lovely place, lovely people and very good food. Excellent!! Is all we can say.

Warm welcome but definitely wont retuned and advise not dining there. Order took a long time to arrive with another table (also with cooked food) arriving and ordering after us but served before us. On food arriving cold chips, missing items on 2 dishes compared to menu. Chips were swapped. Cheese scone served with “bacon jam” - menu said ‘chilli jam’ - sweet chilli dipping sauce was brought out. Overall poor food e.g. beer batter too thick and not cooked properly through so not edible, and chicken breast not trimmed so had gristle. Was asked how the food was - the poor serving staff had “checked with the kitchen” and no discount was given. No accountability acknowledged. We had to insist that we got some.

Excellent value for money and experience. Based on their Christmas service/courses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday roast and Xmas pudding. Beef was particularly tasty and vegetables were cooked al dente

It's a few years since we have been here as it went down hill a little but we went back today for a family dinner, all pre-ordered, but it was all very nice

Lovely establishment in a quite village. Exquisite decor, great menu, friendly staff. Had a lovely evening with the family. The battered pibs - genius! I would return just for these! But all the food was good.

Booked for 9 of us to have a surprise 70th birthday meal for my Dad. Absolutely wonderful atmosphere in our own little room where we received excellent service and delicious food from the lovely staff. They were happy to bring his cake out to him and a knife and plates to serve it. They did not rush us in anyway and ensured the drinks were flowing. This was my 3rd visit and it never disappoints. Thanks all.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Roast beef, roast turkey and a side order of cauliflower cheese. With great assortment of fresh vegetables and extra gravy

Fantastic meal ,great service and value for money. I had a roast beef which came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes , mashed potatoes and rice wind gravy. My wife had the roast turkey, stuffing and a pig in blacker as well as the same veg as me . This was accompanied by heritage carrots, sprouts, broccoli, green beans , sugar peas , leaks, kale and swede . We also had a side of cauliflower cheese

Absolutely incredible Sunday lunch today, the battered pigs in blankets are an absolute game changer. Pork belly on point, beef cooked to perfection. Veg and colly cheese was delicious and not to leave out the Yorkshires are amazing. We will definitely be coming back for Sunday lunch again. You have a great team who do an amazing job Thank you

Limited menu bur service great and lovely place

Food is lovely with plenty of vegan options to choose from. It was all delicious. Atmosphere is great, very cosy. The downside on our visit was the service, but I think the waiter serving us was quite new there, so didn't ask all the relevant questions. Overall good visit and will be coming back again.

Firstly this is the most beautiful pub/restaurant and stays one of my favourites in the area. We had lovely starters of scotch eggs and game terrine that were delicious. We did have a slight problem with the mains my mussels were quite dry and I suggested they had been stood a while to the waiter who straight away took them and replaced with a perfect pan of mussels freshly cooked that were delicious my partner had the steak that was perfect. Although we did have a slight problem with the mains the staff rectified this and apologised and made our dining experience a positive. This is a lovely place to eat and drink and is still one of my favourites, the staff are fabulous and the surroundings are beautiful.

I hadn’t been for more than 30 years and by good fortune was passing by. What a lucky decision to stop and refind this great place. Made very welcome by the team. The food was excellent, as was the restaurant. We’ll now be adding this to our regular haunts.

Terrible i had two slices of roast beef most of it was fat potatoes stone cold and all they could say was sorry was a fatty piece of beef certainly will not be returning

Absolutely shocking had Sunday lunch served cold potatoes then i had a plate full of fat for beef, told the young waitress she said they are sorry while giving us the wrong bill when asked while paying was everything ok i said no they said it must have been a fatty piece of beef certainly won’t be returning

Never been to this area before and the pub was picked at random. Sometimes things just work and this was one of those times. Nothing not to like and I loved it. Food and staff were great. Thank you

We visited this pub for the first time on a Friday afternoon with our 2 dogs. Every aspect of our visit was 5*. The pub is wonderfully cosy and welcoming, the people working there were friendly and efficient, and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend the sausages. We'll definitely be back again soon and can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent late Sunday lunch. Very nice premises maintaining 17th century features within a modern design Vey good service from a young but well trained and managed team of waiters. Silly things let the afternoon down slightly. No lemon for a g/t. No horseradish or English mustard. Charged for ten covers when there were nine of us. It’s the little things people remember and it’s careless. A shame. Overall four stars for an afternoon where five could easily have been five. That said, recommended.

Popped in after a dark evening run for a very nicely salted and vinegar scattered chip butty, half a pint of Ginger Pale and a bottle of water. Service was great, the butty was fantastic! A very nice quaint pub 🍻 with a couple of warren's off the main bar, with plenty of seating and tables. I'm already planning a revisit with the family for a Sunday lunch! A really great spot for lunch, mid-way between friends based in Lincs and Yorks. The food was beautiful, and good value, with great service. Thoroughly recommend the savoury scone, and the fish finger sandwich. *Pudding note: We had already tucked into the browniw before we photographed it!

Took my son and the family to the cadeby Inn for his 18th evening meal. It was great, the venue is really warm and welcoming. The staff friendly and attentive. The menu was really varied and accommodating for gluten free and very simple to understand. We had a great time the whole evening and it was a really enjoyable experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

Went with family for a birthday surprise and I emailed a question ahead of the visit, the response was quite quick and they kindly sorted everything for me. The two course lunchtime special was excellent value I felt. My guests enjoyed starters of Soup, Artisan breads, Fish cake and Mushrooms followed by Curry, Fish and Chips and Sausages all presented beautifully and extremely tasty. Our granddaughter had a gorgeous freshly prepared pizza and chips too which she enjoyed immensely. We were very well looked after throughout and the girls played along very nicely with the surprise birthday treat, thank you we will definitely be back

We went to the restaurant for lunch today with family. I came down from Scotland this morning 10th September. Firstly, the food was lovely, the service was okay. However, I ordered drinks from the bar on arrival, the cost was £31.00. I handed 4 Scottish £10 notes to the bar person, who said, we do not except Scottish currency. I was standing my ground, not paying with my card, as I said I never had one with me. A very kind gentleman from England, offered to pay with his card, and gave him the £31.00. I was too embarrassed to refuse gentleman. Something must be done with places like this. I also believe certain post offices refuse to take it. Please note Scotland was not given independence, I also never voted for independence. We are part of the unit kingdom. I would love to take this further. Kind regards Paul Larkins

Had spoken on the telephone regarding wheelchair friendly toilet. Was assured they had one ! Called in to check this out before arranging to visit with friends. Trusted the toilet would be accessible when shown where it was. Having gone into the toilet, my manual...

Another hidden gem well worth a visit . We decided to pop in on a whim whilst out and about. The actual pub is lovely inside and out the meals were generous and tasty nothing to fault. We will return again based upon our experience today.

We visited Cadeby for a family meal and have done previously for special occasions. Unfortunately this time around we were beyond unsatisfied. The order of our meal was forgotten in parts and were rudely spoken to by an untrained member of staff who proceeded to giggle whilst we complained at the bar. We spent just under £200. If the staff acted in a professional manner, we could have compromised. However, this was not the case and i was shocked to hear someone speak so disrespectfully towards us.

DONT VISIT- VISITED TODAY FOR A BIRTHDAY FAMILY MEAL. ORDERED FOOD THEN WENT IN GARDEN, WAITED AROUND 1 HOUR. 1 BLONDE YOUNG SO CALLED WAITRESS FETCHED OUT OUR DINNERS, X3 STEAKS WAS PART OF OUR ORDER SO WHEN THEY ARRIVED I SAID "THERES 3 PEPPERCORN SAUCE TOO", THE GIRL TURNED ROUND AND SAID "IT WASNT ORDERED SO IF YOU WANT TO COME TO THE BAR I WILL PUT THE ORDER THROUGH". I SAID "IT WAS ORDERED" SHE SAID "IT WASNT PUT THROUGH". SHE HAD NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL. WE WERE DISGUSTED WITH HER ATTITUDE. WE WENT IN AND COMPLAINED AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND THE X3 PEPPERCORN SAUCE OUT WITH THE CHIPS THEY ALSO FORGOT!! WE ATE DINNERS STILL NO CHIPS OR PEPPERCORN SAUCE SO I WENT IN AND SAID "FORGET CHIPS AND SAUCE WEVE FINISHED NOW" SHE SAID "SO YOU DONT WANT PEPPERCORN SAUCE" SO I SAID "THERES NO POINT WHEN DINNERS GONE". DINNER WASNT VERY NICE EITHER WAS COLD, SPENT NEARLY £200 AND DIDNT GET WHAT WE ORDERED AND HAD TO DEAL WITH STAFF WHO WERE NOT INTERESTED. NOBODY KNEW WHO MANAGER WAS EITHER.... REALLY BAD SERVICE TONIGHT WON'T BE GOING BACK! SILLY GIRL GIGGLEING TO BLOKE AT FRONT DESK AFTER WE HAD COMPLAINED. SHE NEEDS TRAINING, SOME RESPECT AND TO GROW UP!!

4 of us went to Cadeby pub last night (Saturday) for a meal and drinks what a let down. Front of house staff were spot on, but that's about it. Two of us ordered sea bass only to be told to order a side as well as the bass portions were small then to be told that it had all gone (that's the second time that's happened). So we ordered the sausage and mash, which I have to say was well below standard sausage were hard the gravy was like glue. I could go on and on. Then, to come out with a bill of just under £200 I don't mind that size bill if the food is worth it. We are Cadeby fans, but I won't be going back anytime soon. Come on, Cadeby, you can do better than that.

Sizeable portions, a bit on the expensive side but good service!

First visit, heard a bit about it, the welcome wasn’t great only average, decided on the meal for 4+ it was only ok, the surrounding was in need of a smarten up. Not bad but won’t be rushing back

Very average food and poor service. Been here before and so better service. Steak this time was small and albeit well cooked very poor value for money. Staff wanted you out to go home!

Wouldn't take my food order because they didn't have any spoons for table numbers left. Wasn't busy, so they must only have 10 spoons. Even when spoons were available, didn't seem to care about us and gave them to other people. Poor system, but enjoyed boat Inn s food instead

Just visited for lunch with friends and very disappointed waited an hour and a half in total to get our main meal , the food was okish to say it took so long in a not over busy place , when the main meals came one was forgotten , we were told that 2 soft drinks would be taken from the bill .,, no one came to ask us of the meals were ok, if we wanted anything , we had to find someone to ask for sauces . when paying the bill, I did mention we were disappointed the waitress, rather than being apologetic just argued back ..,, Shame as the pub/ restaurant is lovely and would have been a lovely place to revisit …

Not obvious from the website that they do only Roast Dinner on Sundays. But for the deposit we had to pay we would have left. Nice venue, roast beef was great, far too much veg for nine of us, a shame to waste.

Attended a party here. We were in a seperate part to the main pub which was nice. Small function room. Food was good.

Nice atmosphere, not loud pub. However was not 100%. I ordered a burger that was over cooked, very dry. Overall I might go back and give it another try.

A mother's day treat here for me it was very busy, enjoyed a drink till it was time for the meal, 4pm, worth waiting for we weren't in any hurry, the food was delicious and hot, weren't rushed to finnish, a very special mothers day, thankyou

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Valentine's evening meal at this restaurant and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. The food was absolutely superb and it's clear that the new chef has brought a new level of talent and expertise to the kitchen. From the starters to the desserts, every dish was crafted with care and attention to detail. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. The standout dish for me was the trio of desserts - it was an absolute delight to savor each bite. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The ambiance was warm and cozy, with just the right amount of romance in the air. I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend my Valentine's evening. Visited Cadeby pub and restaurant today. Had the 2 courses set menu, both my wife and I had the garlic mushrooms followed by the peppered steak pie. The beer was very good as was both our starters however the main course was a different matter....

This is a top venue for a few drinks in a well-kept country pub setting. As well as owners home produced beers their guest beers are top quality and well-presented.

We decided to have a walk for Sunday lunch with the dogs who are welcome in the bar area and we opted to have 2 mains for £30.00 as we didn’t want a pudding or starter. I had the beef sirloin and my husband had the beef brisket, both very tasty and tender, good selection of vegetables, think they could have been a little more as I only got 2 small rounds of carrot, the Yorkshire pudding was massive and the extra gravy was nice. Service and staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed it and would return and recommend

Lovely food in gorgeous surroundings and friendly staff

Another beautiful meal at The Cadeby. Had Sunday lunch & was to be fair the best we've had anywhere in a long time. Brocoli & cheese soup to start which was out of this world followed by belly pork, mash, roast, massive homemade Yorkshire pudding & huge bowl of fresh seasonal vegetables. Finished off with cheese & biscuits 😋 hats off to the chef it was a fantastic lunch, he/she is definitely a keeper!!
