Great place to have a drink, the food however is woeful. New menu, new chef? 4 of us ordered, only saw 4 other tables so was hardly busy yet they was still long waits for, gammon, pie of the day, an two Cadeby burgers. Pie of the day, I don’t know you can call this a pie. It’s a broth of meat and sauce in a pot with a wafer thin layer of pasty on top. That, is not a pie. Two burgers, both dry and over cooked and at £18 not, the burger is hardly a decent size or thickness. For drinks it’s great, and nicely decorated, but I wouldn’t bother again for food.

We dined here a week ago for Sunday Lunch and it was great lovely food busy nice atmosphere and attentive staff, so we came back on Wednesday 26th February and it couldn't have been more different, it was quiet which is expected on a Wednesday evening having said that it took 5 minutes before we were acknowledged and shown to a seat, we were then left without any further interaction from staff for 15 minutes, I had to go to the bar and ask if we ordered food here or at the table, once this was established we waited another 15 minutes to place our order, bear in mind their was 8 people in the restaurant, not once were we offered another drink, offered a dessert menu or asked if the food was OK until we paid the bill, shame as tbh the venue is great, for our 2nd drink I stood at an empty bar for 5 minutes with not a soul to be seen . Very disappointed as we really enjoyed our 1st visit.

Shocking service! Booked a table to then have to wait over an hour to be seated as we’d obviously been forgotten!! Told once seated the manager would be over to take a drinks order but no sign of her and the staff member who took the bill had no manners at all. The food was good but after waiting for so long to even be seated and with no one coming to take a further drinks order I will not be back. Wouldn’t recommend at all definitely gone downhill since our wedding reception last year!!!

We visited midweek. Had a bar meal. Pie and I had fish and chips. Lovely. Do we booked Sunday lunch Had mushrooms on bread to start. As soon as it came I was put off. The taste and mainly texture was awful. Could not eat it. Was a bit bland as well Then Sunday lunch. Beef brisket. Ok. But took forever. Service was so slow. Meal booked at 4. Finally got main course after I asked at 5.40. Ordered another drink had to ask where it was. Got it and it was wrong drink Serving girls were lovely. Place is lovely. But it’s just not good enough. Won’t bother again for Sunday lunch

Lovely food spoilt by it being luke warm, almost cold. We left feeling disappointed and sad as we felt that it was the kind of place we'd return to. Waitresses need a bit more training as they are slow and not especially friendly. We waited ages for our Sunday lunch so we had convinced ourselves it would be hot and freshly cooked. It arrived barely warm and the Yorkshire puddings were cold to touch. We stupidly poured on more gravy to warm it up but that was also barely warm. We didn't complain as we'd waited almost 40 minutes for our food. They never stopped to ask if we wanted horseradish so I had to flag someone down. When they returned to ask if all was ok I asked for our gravy to be warmed up. It was returned a few seconds later at exactly the same temperature. The food tasted good though and would have been wonderful hot. Major major shame.

In an attractive small village, this excellent gastropub is a delight. We booked a family lunch, with one of our number choosing to eat off the lunchtime menu while three of us opted for the 'à la carte' choice. Service was impeccable from Amelia and we really enjoyed the food, all of which was beautifully cooked and presented. The atmosphere was convivial, attentive and charming. We liked it so much that we've pre-booked for this coming Xmas day lunch and paid a reasonable deposit to secure it! Highly recommended. Cost was reasonable too...

Visited on Saturday, 8th February for my daughter's 18th birthday lunch and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered starters and mains, and while the starters were good quality and served hot, everything went downhill from there. After our starters were cleared away, we were left waiting way over 40 minutes for our main courses, despite the restaurant not being busy. When the food finally arrived, my daughter’s steak frites (ordered medium) was overcooked, well-done, and tough. We informed the waitress, who took it back and assured us the chef would prepare a fresh one. Meanwhile, my Reuben sandwich was lukewarm, and the meat was incredibly tough, making it difficult to eat, I left over half of it. My husband's fish and chips were fresh, hot, and he enjoyed them, but that was the only highlight. By the time my daughter's replacement meal was served, we had all finished eating, meaning she had to sit and eat alone on her own birthday. The waiting times were ridiculously long, especially considering how quiet the restaurant was. Overall, a really disappointing experience that completely ruined what should have been a special family lunch. We won’t be returning.

Went for a family meal to celebrate my Mum’s 60th birthday this afternoon. Food was delicious and we couldn’t fault it. However the service was really poor. We were led to our table and the waitress walked away without giving us menus or taking a drinks order. She returned 5 minute later and put the menus on the end of the table without handing them out. 25 minutes later I had to go and ask if we could have some drinks and someone could come and take our order. The girl came and just stood, we had to offer a suggestion to start at one end of the table and work down. We then waiting 45 minutes for starters. My Mum then had to ask where our mains were after another long wait. The manager came and offered us free desserts which was lovely of them. We thought things would improve from here but they didn’t. When the main meals came we had to wait for vegetables, there wasn’t enough gravy and no condiments were offered. Once we had everything it was delicious but we felt we had to bag all of the way through the meal. I then had to ask someone to take the dirty plates away that had been in front of us for 20 minutes. We appreciated that it was busy but we saw three staff stood chatting multiple times and our large table shouldn’t have been booked if they weren’t able to handle this many covers. We’ve all said on the way home that we really enjoyed the food but it all just took too long and because the service was poor none of us will be returning which is a shame. Our visit today came on the back of a recommendation from someone but we’ll not be recommending to anyone in future.

Really fabulous lunchtime meal here with my wife, father-in-law Roger and his mate Roy. For some bizarre reason it was our first visit - but it certainly won't be our last! We live quite nearby, in Goldthorpe, and will be back soon and certainly before next Christmas day's lunch that we booked for today! The food was exemplary, service fantastic (from Amelia?) and the ambience charming. Highly recommended...

Daughters 21st Birthday this evening. Food lovely. Service not good. Staff definitely lack training. Would I go back - food yes service no. Front of house ok, waitresses slow approach to everything sadly. Knowledge of the bar choice poor. Getting asked for our drinks order only approached after about 25 minutes. Not very attentive. Such a shame I’d say as like I stated above, cannot complain at all about the food. I spent £300 - sadly doubt I would return or recommend.

We booked the Cadeby Inn for a family festive Family get together, I had put on the reservation that we wanted the festive menu, there was nothing on the online menu to suggest that this had to be pre-booked. We get there, receive the menus, I ask about the festive menu and am told there is no festive menu. Not a problem, we choose the regular menu which seems nice, our starters arrive promptly, the main meal less so with the children waiting nearly an hour and getting restless we check in with the staff on timings and get told they are checking with the kitchen, we don’t get a response from the staff after and check in again 20 minutes later they arrive with the children’s food, one child’s missing we remind them, the adults’ food arrive, and we are asked if we can wait 5 more minutes for the last child’s food. I suggest that there isn’t a choice clearly but that our daughter now over an hour late is hungry and if they can bring something to nibble. They don’t and so she resorts to eating an adults meal. To make matters worse I see the table next to us eating and enjoying the festive menu, meals arriving promptly. It then took staff about 20 minutes to clear our plates, we had to ask about ketchups, vinegar etc., nothing self prompted and no genuine apologies, I would expect a manager apology after this experience. I’ve given 2* as the food that arrived was good but it’s clear that there is a complete lack of management, staff training, customer service… It says a lot that staff seem to be huddled together at times rather than checking on customers and the kitchen.

Being a large party of 16 we had to preorder food. Preordering still meant it was overcooked for many, wait times were long and when handing over a plate they warned my partner it was hot, not being able to put it down on the table for him, he had no choice but to take the plate and subsequently burnt his finger. His steak was overcooked due to the temperature of the plate, the garlic butter was a frozen slab on top that didn’t melt until he finally moved it onto the plate. We were placed into the back room by the toilets where it had no temperature other than hot. However, praise where praise is due, the soup starter was lovely. The room was a nice environment for the group and it was a quiet night so perfect for the occasion. However, if you are asking a group to preorder you would expect them to be prepared when all 16 of you turn up.

Lovely food but a very poor experience. I do not write negative reviews but the service was totally shocking. We had to go to the bar to ask for someone to take our order (all the wait staff were huddled round the bar on their phones), when food arrived no one checked in if we needed sauces or if everything was ok. Another couple in at the same time had also complained about how poor the service was and left after their mains having waited so long for a coffee and dessert menu. I could maybe excuse it if they were all rushed off their feet but the place was very quiet for a Saturday night and can only assume it’s the shared experience of poor service that is driving people to not return. It is such a shame because other venues under the same brewery have amazing staff and service.

We had the Barn and the Med bar as our wedding Location back in August, and it was the best decision we made. The Venue is gorgeous, amazing value for money and the staff were amazing and so friendly. Everything went so smoothly and they kept us in the loop throughout the day. We decided not to have the traditional cake but instead have our favourite dessert, tiramisu, to be handed out instead which was delicious! Anything we wanted for our day, they made happen. They also helped us with our wedding favours by bottling our favourite beer, atomic blonde, and rebranded it for the day with new labels and to have a draft at the bar. Thank you to Liam, Sofia, Ben and the rest of the staff to make our day so special ❤️

This is a really nice location but really basic behaviour letting it down. We were seated in a great location but left without being asked if we would like a drink. Simple stuff and it earns money? We had to get up find a drinks menu ourselves. Asked if we would like water for the table and had to ask for it after we had finished our starters. Both starter and main meals were brought to us luke warm, by the time we were half way through our main meals the food was cold. Basic stuff, warm plates and hot gravy works wonders. Vegetables were over cooked with no crunch or colour left in them. Service was what you would expect in a McDonalds and some of the staff needed a manager teaching them and keeping an eye on behaviour. Great location, needs a polish on the food and service.

Really great restaurant/pub in terms of interior design. Food was average in all honesty. Staff are nice but absolutely need more training. They are young and most probably have little front of house experience. In my view a good front of house manager and more training would sort this out. We eat in a lots of restaurants so I feel my comments are justified. In a nutshell, this could be a great place with just a little more care and attention. Our fingers are crossed for The Cadeby.

One of my favourite places to eat. The decor is so interesting and the food is always delicious. We visit for family functions regularly because of this However the service is very slow. You do end up having to go and find staff to ask for the next course or the bill or more drinks, rather than them checking on you regularly. And the food takes such a long time to come out. It usually takes up to two hours to go for a one course meal and three hours for a three course which is a lot longer than standard. It’s a shame because it puts people off wanting to come again but the food itself is so lovely.

We were part of a larger group for a birthday but we ordered 2 kids burgers (with “skin on fries”) the Nduja pizza and a portion of triple cooked chips”. We only ordered 2 kids burgers because my little boy (age 5) wanted a cheese toastie (from the kids menu) but they said there weren’t any - they must be the only restaurant in the UK not to have 2 slices of bread and some cheddar in stock on a Friday night to make something they actually have on the menu. The kids burgers came and the buns were still cold they were obviously frozen, burgers were cremated and way too small for the buns. The fries were an abomination, completely burned out of the whole portion there must have been 7/8 edible ones plus they were cold??? The pizza tasted ok but toppings were lacking and it was overcooked, and the triple cooked chips were the exact same you would expect from the chippy, not triple cooked and some were so hard they were inedible - I might add these were £5.50 and came in a metal beaker the size of a mug- absolutely ridiculous. To be honest I couldn’t have swallowed this if the quality would have been as I’d expect for £5.50 for a handful of chips. The meal was £60 including a couple of drinks. Had we not been part of a bigger group we would definitely have raised these points but not wanting to ruin the evening we did not. Granted we did not give the restaurant opportunity to respond however having had a horrendous Christmas dinner here Dec ‘22 with a group of 27, I feel this restaurant is just pretending to be something it’s not, unfortunately. Decor is great, beer garden is beautiful (although there was dog poo where the kids were playing - maybe they should check it a few times a day), but seems they are all style and no substance.

Four of us dinned 20:30 yesterday (Saturday night). The menu has only ever been limited in size and they do not do any specials. We were seated on time and told that the Belly Pork main had run out. 2 of us ordered steaks only to be told that only one was available, 5 minutes later we were told that the steak had also run out and so had to select something else. So now 25% of the main course options were not available. The one meat option remaining was the beef burger. We both ordered fish and chips and they were excellent but not what I would have ordered or called at Saturday evening meal out. Two of us had the black pudding starter, it was warm and dry whilst looking like a chocolate brownieand nothing like black pudding , it was not to our liking but others may enjoy. £195 later we left. Only 9 days earlier I went with five friends for lunch (£202) and it was excellent. This was the old menu and more suited to our taste plus it was all available. I have been at least four other occasions last year and it has always been excellent service and quality food and we have all been eager to go back, but no more. Either go early or do what I am doing and that's giving it a big miss. My guess is that as its Sunday lunch only the next day, closed on Monday and pie night Tuesday they don't want to be left with anything, hence the go early or don't bother comment. I was fancying the pie night but as we don't eat early its likely that the only pie available will be the one that I don't like as they now don't do pies on any other day.

Myself, my partner, my dad and step mum, plus my two dogs chose this place for our once a year Christmas get together, mainly because the food looked incredible and they allowed dogs. We got there, greeted well, seated, and our drinks order was taken. Once the drinks arrived we waited 15 mins to even see someone to ask to order our food. Fine whatever I guess they're busy. We ordered our food and also ordered some pigs in blankets for the dogs. We specifically said they were for the dogs. We asked for plain pigs in blankets. Mine and my step mums starters came, with no sign of the other two starters. So ours went cold as why would we eat without the others eating, it's courtesy when you think the other starters will be out straight after?? Right? No. The other starters hadn't even been put through on the till. They came eventually but our starters were now cold. My dad ordered a prawn cocktail. It came with no sauce? We complained. They took it back and just threw some on the top and we knew it was the same because he had taken a bite out the bread. Okay fine whatever. All of the hot starters were cold, even when my partners came out late it was still cold. Mains. Firstly they brought out the dogs food. PIGS IN BLANKETS WITH BATTER AND CRANBERRY SAUCE ?? Come on. Fine okay the kitchen didn't get the message about the dogs. We can forgive that as they brought regular ones out soon after. We all then got our food. Mine was the salmon. Lovely, tasted great. Dad got his bangers and mash, fine he enjoyed his. My partner got the Thai red curry, or should I say the whole Malden salt tub in a bowl of cream and some veg and rice. I took one taste and thought my cholesterol would be ruined. We sent it back and asked for nothing instead, she just wanted to leave at that point. Step mums pie and mash. Something tasted burnt. Thought it was the mushy peas which had a slight burnt bit. Nope. It was the gravy. It was like the pan of gravy had been cooking all day and the bottom had burnt which ruined the whole pot of gravy, or atleast the gravy they gave her as my dad's gravy wasn't too bad. She ate 3 mouthfuls and left the rest. We obviously told the staff how bad of an experience we had had the whole time we were there. They only made us pay for the two rounds of drinks and the two mains we had eaten. My step mum being my step mum still wasn't happy but that's understandable with how BAD the whole experience was. We were told by the bar staff that they were actually alone and no manager was even on site. As an assistant manager in a restaurant myself and my partner being an ex GM we were appalled. In no way, no matter the business, your service is going to go down the drain if there is no appointed person on site to run the shift. Just because you might be able to do cash up, doesn't mean you can deal with a problem and manage a shift. Absolutely baffled. What made the night worse was a random woman came and butted into our conversation with what we believe was a manager off shift trying to help, saying we were embarrassing ourselves. I don't know who she thought she was but she should have been told to walk away and not get involved. But she was never dealt with. Clearly a regular. I'll be embarrassed when I feel embarrassed not when someone tells me to. We were then shoved out the door without paying so that nothing escalated with this random woman. As a manger myself, I'm not writing this review for potential customers per se, but I am wanting to let the manager/s of this restaurant know how to better yourselves. And how not to serve customers who were so excited to come to this restaurant and were heavily disappointed. I couldn't imagine leaving staff by themselves. Thanks

This place is normally a great place to eat at a reasonable price . However they got New Year’s Eve completely wrong . Charged £50 per head for what ended up being a cheese board , meat balls and sausage rolls . Was obviously everything they had left over from Christmas . It states on the advert it was ticket only . However many people just wandered in to the disco without paying . It was a complete rip off what was given . It also stated you would receive a mince pie and drink at midnight , we ordered these but they never arrived . The manager tried to state he didn’t even no what food was on offer that night . Was a complete shambles and waste of money

Warm welcome but definitely wont retuned and advise not dining there. Order took a long time to arrive with another table (also with cooked food) arriving and ordering after us but served before us. On food arriving cold chips, missing items on 2 dishes compared to menu. Chips were swapped. Cheese scone served with “bacon jam” - menu said ‘chilli jam’ - sweet chilli dipping sauce was brought out. Overall poor food e.g. beer batter too thick and not cooked properly through so not edible, and chicken breast not trimmed so had gristle. Was asked how the food was - the poor serving staff had “checked with the kitchen” and no discount was given. No accountability acknowledged. We had to insist that we got some.

Booked for 9 of us to have a surprise 70th birthday meal for my Dad. Absolutely wonderful atmosphere in our own little room where we received excellent service and delicious food from the lovely staff. They were happy to bring his cake out to him and a knife and plates to serve it. They did not rush us in anyway and ensured the drinks were flowing. This was my 3rd visit and it never disappoints. Thanks all.

Food is lovely with plenty of vegan options to choose from. It was all delicious. Atmosphere is great, very cosy. The downside on our visit was the service, but I think the waiter serving us was quite new there, so didn't ask all the relevant questions. Overall good visit and will be coming back again.

I hadn’t been for more than 30 years and by good fortune was passing by. What a lucky decision to stop and refind this great place. Made very welcome by the team. The food was excellent, as was the restaurant. We’ll now be adding this to our regular haunts.

Firstly this is the most beautiful pub/restaurant and stays one of my favourites in the area. We had lovely starters of scotch eggs and game terrine that were delicious. We did have a slight problem with the mains my mussels were quite dry and I suggested they had been stood a while to the waiter who straight away took them and replaced with a perfect pan of mussels freshly cooked that were delicious my partner had the steak that was perfect. Although we did have a slight problem with the mains the staff rectified this and apologised and made our dining experience a positive. This is a lovely place to eat and drink and is still one of my favourites, the staff are fabulous and the surroundings are beautiful.

We visited this pub for the first time on a Friday afternoon with our 2 dogs. Every aspect of our visit was 5*. The pub is wonderfully cosy and welcoming, the people working there were friendly and efficient, and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend the sausages. We'll definitely be back again soon and can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent late Sunday lunch. Very nice premises maintaining 17th century features within a modern design Vey good service from a young but well trained and managed team of waiters. Silly things let the afternoon down slightly. No lemon for a g/t. No horseradish or English mustard. Charged for ten covers when there were nine of us. It’s the little things people remember and it’s careless. A shame. Overall four stars for an afternoon where five could easily have been five. That said, recommended.

Best turkish food I’ve ate in UK!!! Been in many places but here I found the best kebab in UK! Grills are cooked as they should, very tasty. And the donner kebab is fantastic! Prices are the same as the most kebab places but the quality of the food is the best! Definetly I’ll travel back here to eat again. Keep it up
