This is a fun spot to spend the night. We requested a table in front of the stage & had the best table in the house. There was an opening act around 7:00 & then another act around 9:00. All the musicians got the crowd up & dancing. The crowd was having a very good time. We interacted with many of the other guests. We tucked into some very good shrimp on toast, a parmesan frittata and some fish & chips. All were simply prepared and very delicious. A delicate batter on the fish. Cocktails & wine paired nicely with our meal. We had a great server who took care of us all night. The place is lively. The food & drink is good. Chances are you'll have a good night !

We came for the Sunday roast at The Butterfly and the Pig and were genuinely impressed. The roast chicken was tender and well-seasoned, the Yorkshire pudding had great texture, and the glazed veg were full of flavour. The fish and chips were also a standout—crispy, generous, and done right. The setting is relaxed and pub-like, and the service was friendly and attentive. The only letdown was the sticky toffee pudding, which lacked the richness we expected. Read our full review at basilnbrie.com

The first time l ate here l loved the food. This time l was very disappointed. The service was good. My main simple fish and chips was over cooked, more batter than fish and soaking in grease. Not nice! The chips were fine. The wine at 27 pounds was headache plonk. Stuff back home l would throw away. I have eaten in many places in Glasgow and yes wine is more expensive in the UK but this was nasty. Marks does decent wine for 7 pounds. This almost four times more expensive. Surely the restaurant can fine something better. The most disappointing part of the meal was my dessert. This place is known for its high teas so l was expecting something good. I ordered the Eton Mess which to me means generous fruit usually strawberries now in season plus cream and meringue. What l got was a big bowl of runny cream some meringue and perhaps 4/5 frozen raspberries. Cost 7 pounds. My suggestion make it smaller and add more fruit or just take it off the menu.

Came here for dinner with my parents and partner. Been here before and it was fine then so was excited to bring my parents here. One of the waitresses was quite rude and seemed to get annoyed when we would ask for things. The service was a bit slow (but it was a Saturday night so I guess that’s expected). When we reminded the waitress of the things we asked for (steak knife, mayo, vinegar, tartar sauce) she seemed to get really annoyed and was visibly irritated with us. She seemed fine with the other people except us (and we were the only ones speaking a foreign language there so not sure if she was discriminatory towards us). Food was decent, it’s a shame that the waitress was rude. Will not return here again.

My new favourite eating establishment in Glasgow. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The food is delicious with lots of vego and vegan options. I had mushroom fritters for entree and haloumi roast tomato salad for main. Big portions and really tasty. My partner had the Haggis for entree and Butterfly and Piglet Burger for main. So ample he couldn't finish it and absolutely delicious. But the main attraction was the extremely clever and amusing wording of the menu. Take a look at it. Infinitely entertaining. (Oh, hey Butterfly and Pig pun ghost - you were asking for a pun for the Haggis entree on the menu - how about 8 kilts and 50 sporran).... Pretty close to city centre just along Bath St. They also have Trad music sessions on Thursdays late... Brilliant. Thanks for a brilliant evening.

It was a busy Saturday night and the lady serving us was run of her feet but she was very friendly, helpful and quick with her service. I got the burger and added on cheese and fried onions. By far the best burger I have had in a while. The burger was peppery with the cheese melted, food hot, I was stuffed but the burger was so good I don't want to leave any.

My daughter and I visited as I was kindly given a voucher for Afternoon Tea for a Special Birthday.. So very disappointed in our experience... I would 100% not recommend for afternoon tea... The sandwiches were bland and boring, the ham so thick and tasteless. The scones must have been taken out of freezer as they were pale, stodgy with water droplets floating on top.. The tiniest of oatcakes with what should be fresh salmon brown round the edges.. The small cakes unappealing.. The only solace was the gin and tonic which was included in the offer.. Believe me we went on to have a few more in another establishment to try and make the best of our trip into Glasgow.. I Truly do not relish in giving bad reviews but in this instance I must let others know what to expect and if possible avoid... We left with no acknowledgement from the staff. Needless to say we will not return.

Went here for breakfast. The Eggs Benedict were ok, nothing to make them stand out, according to the daughter. Creme Brulee pancakes with cream and berries. 3 decent sized pancakes, with some caramelised areas. My niggle is that for the size of pancakes the cream and berries were not a big enough portion. Therefore, the pancakes were a bit dry. On a good note, I asked for a slice of bacon, 3 came out and only £2. Tea was served in a quaint, good sized pot and extra water was no issue. The establishment is massive, from what I saw, it's over 4 if not 5 levels. Lot's of pictures adorning the walls. Also the stairs going down to the bathroom have writing on the walls, would like to know more... Would go back for lunch/dinner as it had a nice atmosphere.

Had been previously after the summer 2024 and everything was really good but yesterday was just awful. Two of us were served French toast cold to the touch, my butterscotch sauce was like tar and just sadly not edible. The two girls working didn’t seem to be in the best of spirits at all which wasn’t great. Large sweaty effort from the kitchen was walking about and just looked absolutely filthy (at just 11am) which was the nail in the coffin really. The only saving grace is that the other customers were all a nice natured bunch. It’s a shame but it’s not one I would return to now.

Unfortunately our first and last visit to this “restaurant”. Described by others as “shabby chic”, I would describe it as tired and dirty. Ambience awful and food worse. Had two courses for two people, all overcooked and dry. We were asked how the meal was and we responded not very good. That was that, no further questions, comments or actions taken by staff. We had ordered a bottle of wine but left a lot of it as we just wanted out. Awful experience which didn’t come cheap.

It started well, we were meeting family we hadn’t seen in years and thought this would be a relaxed atmosphere to sit down have a drink, eat good food and get reacquainted. It turns out maybe a little too relaxed…. Waiter brings red wine to table behind the head of one of our party who was busy chatting and had no idea he was there behind him, (there was a clear space to serve the drinks at the end of the table so everyone could have seen him but he’s clearly challenged with spatial awareness ) the wine ended up spilled all over the table, over my partner (wearing a really expensive Christmas jumper), splattering over me (wearing a new cream top and jacket) and my cousin who got hit with wine too - luckily wearing darker colours. The waiter barely raised an eyebrow or seemed concerned. It was a shit show, us pouring white wine and salt into the cream coloured jacket (I didn’t realise my top was hit until I got to the bathroom), the waiter sloppily mopping up the red wine but offering no apology or assistance. He offered to put a new table cloth on top of the soaking wet red wine covered one which we declined and asked him to change completely. He changed it for one that was too small and made the plates tip and wobble as you cut your food. I don’t think at any point this waiter actually apologised for any of the melee. You would have expected an apology on the way out from some of the team but we got absolutely nothing. There was a waitress who seemed concerned and kindly brought soda water and a cloth to blot at the stained jumper, top and jacket. Really disappointed with the service and attentiveness that could have been offered to turn this episode around. I was once a waitress, and if this was me I would have made sure the customers knew I was sorry if I had caused an incident like this, especially with red wine. This waiter really couldn’t care less about what had happened to our clothes. They left the service on the bill when we asked to pay which I asked them to remove. The food tasted okay but our experience was ruined by the general incompetence of the waiter. Sadly with this experience I don’t think we will return.

We had a family dinner at the Butterfly & Pig for 8 including 2 children on the 29th December. Had options from the main/kids menus including Sunday Roast Options. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very warm and friendly with excellent service. We never felt rushed and ordered a mixture of food. The quality of the food was just excellent and lived up to the recommendations we had received. Ribeye steak sunday roast was cooked to perfection (see picture) and the Steak Pie had more tender beef in it than I have ever seen in a pie. All other dishes were lovely, portions generous and even our children (who can be a little fussy) really enjoyed their meals. The seasoning and sauces were delicious throughout. A big thank you to the staff for really making our day...we will be back!

Booked in for a late lunch, the place was pretty quaint inside, quiet, with only about 10-20 customers. Initially the service was attentive, however after taking our drinks and food order, it all slowed down. The starters were ok, nicely presented and the mains came out quickly behind them. The good bits, the fish and chips were massive, with crispy batter and nice tartar sauce. The bad bits, the burger with cheddar was bland, two dry tasteless patties, I struggled to notice the cheese on it. They had the cheek to charge £1.50 for it. The turkey burgers effectively a roll with turkey slices on it with some cranberry sauce. The chips, some were good, some were undercooked and hard. Would be hard to recommend this place to anyone, for food. The highlights was that the cocktails were nice.

Quirky and unique in its style, and a simple interesting choice of dishes on the menu. We both enjoyed the hot smoked salmon warm salad accompanied with a couple of the delish lemon & rhubarb martini cocktails. There was a great vibe and music in the air. We were seated promptly by the attentive staff who immediately took our orders for drinks that arrived within minutes. I just loved the decor, mismatching plates and cups, table cloths everything about it just shouted rustic to me get on with it, the odd chair that obviously came out of a church, the old broken organ supporting the coffee machine everything was so wrong yet it was so right. I always look up when I’m in these old buildings and to my delight the cornicing was intact and a sight to behold. The brass chandeliers were resplendent and oozed class. But that wasn’t all the food was abundantly plenty to the quality is something I’m going to talk about now. I had the soup it was delicious beyond what I expected served with in house homemade bread which was dippingly good. My wife had the prawns which were cooked to absolute perfection and everyone at the table had a clean plate. The mains came out and as I was looking at these plentiful portions, dreaded what my fish and chips were going to be like. Steak pies filled a whole dinner plate, then, my fish arrived, my god it was hanging off the plate and so was everyone else’s I couldn’t finish it and had to ask for a doggie bag. We decided on the butterfly and the pig due to its high recommendation and word of mouth. We pre booked our table in the bar in advance and unfortunately ended up at a table in front of the toilets which had a smell of ammonia that was unavoidable. Since my husband and I are big foodies we decided to get the rib eye Sunday roast and try one of each of the sides available - since the plan was to review this for my foodie review channel. Our waitress seemed shocked at us wanting to try each of the sides due to the volume of food so we decided to not bother with any of them and just go for the mains. When the food arrived it looked gorgeous but unfortunately I can only give it a 3/5. The steak was cooked beautifully however everything was very like warm. - I’m normally not one to judge on this since I manage a bar in hospitality and I know you can’t cook a roast fully fresh however the temperature of everything on the plate was disappointing and the veg and roast potatoes were rock solid. We did mostly eat everything on our plate, my husband didn’t eat his green veg as it was too solid and I did leave one of my potatoes as my steak knife had a bit trouble with it. Very much not an inedible dinner but it was a disappointment. Would I come back? Probably not, would it be first on my list to recommend? Again probably not. Our table as at 4pm. Even at just before peak time I wouldn’t say was overly busy. I can’t comment for anything else on the menu. Maybe I would return to try one of their menu classics.

We dined in the Butterfly and the Pig on Saturday 12th October and picked this restaurant due to the high review it had on here but unfortunately we were very disappointed. The staff were great. There was a large build up of white dust on the dark brown wood on the walls beside our table, so much that it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I ordered the Chicken burger. It was extremely dry and over cooked. The chips were even more so. I ordered Sticky Toffee pudding for dessert and again it was extremely dry, like an old dried out cake, as opposed to a moist flavoursome pudding.

So cozy and cute - went for the pub quiz and the snacks available were delicious and priced reasonably.

Very friendly establishment with warm decoration which will certainly remind you of your grandparents' house! The staff is very nice, the service fast! A typical Scottish breakfast with quality products! We will return with pleasure.

Had a delicious first meal in Scotland at the Butterfly and the Pig! I went for a Sunday Roast platter that hit all the comfort food buttons while executing each element at a high level. Ben had an enormous burger and chips. And I ended things with a very tasty elderflower blackberry fool. Wish we'd had a chance to try more drinks.

The cake was not tasty, very butterly. The afternoon snacks are not worth ordering.

Excellent venue for work night out with room that sat 25 of us confortably. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was decent for a catered event although soup portions a bit miserly. As a veggie I felt there could have been more options than risotto, which showed little imagination. Meat eaters were well catered for. Steak pie was probably the biggest hit of the night. Deserts were all good.

Large group of us went and we had a room to ourselves. Venue was busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign! Lovely food and excellent service. We pre-ordered due to the size of the group which worked really well.

The food is very good. Service was good but not great. Tried the haggis fingers/fritters. Fantastic! Also, had a pork cheek starter special. Really delicious. It fills up quickly so I would book a reservation.

We stopped in for afternoon tea without a reservation. We were seated and had a great server that explained everything we should expect and promptly brought us our drinks. They went out of their way to accommodate us, even without a reservation. That being said, I would definitely recommend a reservation if you want to go. I do believe we got lucky. Wonderful food, and an overall great experience.

One of my go-to spots when visiting Glasgow Green! The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and the service is super quick. I usually get a baked potato, which is always great. Today, I had a delicious soup with a crispy roll (only the best Lurpak butter!), and I got a sausage for the dog which was all cut up - such a nice touch! The food is always great value for money, and the fact that they’re open seven days a week is a huge bonus, especially for a good breakfast on a Sunday. Highly recommend!

I was really disappointed in this place. I didn't get a photo to show it but the bacon was burnt so much that it was dry and could be snapped like a cracker. I got my bagel toasted and it was burnt and crispy as well, not like a bagel should be. It's much too expensive for the quality that they serve. The coffee is fine, it's the same as most hipster coffee shops.
