A very friendly welcome. The food was good with very generous portions. I particularly recommend the ginger sponge pudding 🍮. Great value for money.

Had a excellent time here for my granddaughters 6th birthday last night food was excellent and service also the staff were all lovely A special thankyou to the Guy that was on also went above and beyond when he had a few problems with the beer thankyou for a lovely evening

The menu was varied. There was a choice of starter (which I didn't have). There were lots of choices for the main meal, with a choice for a smaller portion or regular portion. (I had the smaller portion, which was more than enough for me). I also noticed there was a children's menu on the same card. There were also sandwiches and lighter meals. The desert was delicious, and lots of it. I thoughly recommend this place

We are regular visitors to the Bulls Head. Food is always served pipping hot and is always tasty. Good honest food. It takes a little while to arrive but worth the wait.

Not very often you get a traditional family pub anymore with real fires so this beautiful place is a hidden gem to say the least and from entering until you leave you’re made to feel so welcome . Food is home cooked and so fresh all your meals ordered comes with additional condiments at no extra cost which in my opinion is quite rare these days : you even get the chance to have a fun time on their quiz Friday night events they also sometimes do a charity race night and even acoustic Mondays once a month ; venture to this rare place that feels more like a community pub rather than a public one you really will return again and again I’m sure

First time we have used it always go to the legs of man, But we have been missing out, As a retired Hotelier , the food was excellent hot and the portions were good. We will be visiting you more often. The steak pie was delicious as were all 4 meals

Great friendly welcoming country pub, lovely homemade food and great atmosphere. Lovely welcome from all staff. Really like the menu options of having range smaller meals as well as the full sided meals. Lovely roast dinners, lasagna, pies, burgers. Recommend the Beartown on tap.

We've visited as a family several times now and always had great service, The food is always so lovely and enjoyable. The fact that the menu gives two portion sizes is also worth the stars.

Incredible proper home made food from a family run pub. Portions huge and the ginger sponge & custard was incredible. Worth a visit, proper good grub. Gorgeous vintage cars frequent and regular meetings. Huge outdoor area. Well worth a stop or extra mile to visit this place.

Booked today for my granddaughter’s birthday. Never been before but will definitely be returning. Food was tasty and hot. Staff very friendly. I thought my daughter had arranged for ice cream with candle to be brought out but she hadn’t. Staff heard us saying it was her birthday and took it on themselves to bring it out. Blew my mind as you don’t get folk to do something so lovely like this. Thank you all for making my granddaughter feel so special. So thoughtful.

They had an awesome bikes, beer and bands festival on, plenty of nice beer, loads of room and great bar service. The breakfast was awesome, I ordered a bacon/egg butty and it was proper bacon, thick rashers and a really nice egg.

I absolutely love this pub, firstly food is fabulous and it comes out pipeing hot, Secondly absolutely love how Ian, Sharon, Jake, Millie and the rest of their team, go out of their way to make ur visit a great one, nothing is too much trouble, I would have no hesitation in recommending The Bulls Head at Smallwood

Absolutely Delicious Homemade Curry Rice and Chips And Cheese and Onion Homemade Flan with Salad and Chips and Big Bowl of Onion Rings.Thoroughly Enjoyed the Food.The Chef Delivered the Meals too Our Table Big Portions of Food !!!! And asked if Would Like any Sauces The Price was Very Good Too .Highly Recommend!!!!!.The Lady was Polite who Served us behind the Bar.Really Old Pub, got lots of Character too the Building also got a Log Fire for those Chiller Evenings.

We had the Bulls Head Burger and a beef and onion sandwich. It was lovely, and also the customer service was good. The staff were polite and friendly. I liked that we could sit further out on one of the benches outside, especially with smoking away from the kids' area and in the sun. Nice please to eat & drink 👍🏻

Had main meal coffee 1x coke 2x half's larger. No puds far to full. Haven't been for around 15 years but food is still excellent. Staff very welcoming.

Lovely meal...but a very large 1..

We drove through Smallwood on the way home after visiting Leeds. All five of us travelling were pretty hungry and the food did not disappoint! The menu was great, the food was outstanding and the service was excellent! Really enjoyed our visit to the bulls head and would definitely visit again!

We came one week and the food was 5/5, so we booked to come again the following week and the food was 3/5. I've averaged the scores with this review but we won't be returning again to find out whether it's normally 5/5 or normally 3/5.

Really nice roadside pub. Great stop off after Rode Hall. Nice to see a pub offer smaller portions as well.

A fantastic place to go! Great home cooked food, continously rotated good beers (often supporting local breweries), a really lovely atmosphere and just a great pub that we're lucky to have so close to us. These guys also have a variety of events both during the week and weekends, including live music, motorbike events and full weekend beer festivals. Get yourselves to The Bulls! 👍

This is a gem of a pub! Excellent choice of beers - Macclesfield and Cheshire East CAMRA pub of the year! The food is fantastic - home cooked perfectly and plenty of it! The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive, Highly recommended

An excellent afternoon family birthday party. Good food, good service, (to the credit of the staff), good company (credit to the family of course). What stood out to me is that seventeen people ordered seventeen meals but eighteen meals were prepared; the landlady (or a senior staff member) went to great lengths to make sure no-one had been charged for this kitchen error. Many places would have taken the money and said nothing!

Had two lovely meals, burger and roast beef dinner. The roast beef was tender, lots of veg withpotatoes. It was as good as home made. Burger was large and tasty. Staff friendly and efficient. A lovely evening out

Sorry to say it was cold and needs total refurbishment, just not welcoming at all. There were few customers for a large pub but still waited 30 minutes for a simple order. Meal was ok. Staff were pleasant. Wish I could have given a more positive review

The pub looks tired and in need of some tlc. I know that it's a very old pub and there is only so much that can be done but it is certainly not warm and welcoming. The food I would say was , just OK and nothing special.

We are members of Crewe and Nantwich U3a walking group. We booked a table for 10 people and Jake and Millie couldn't have made us more welcome . They opened up so we could use the toilets and order our lunch before the walk .They also kindly allowed us to leave some cars on their carpark whilst we undertook the walk. On returning for our lunch we were given a warm welcome..led to our set table complete with jugs of water and glasses..and a roaring fire. The food was served at the time requested and all members said they had enjoyed the food which was served hot and tasted lovely. We wernt rushed as its a large place so plenty of tables. Everybody enjoyed it and we would all come again. Thank you Christine and Celia

Went to Bulls Head for a family meal. Great service, food fantastic , staff extremely friendly & helpful. Menu great assortment of meals & even better prices very reasonable main courses all £10 & large plates of food. WE WILL BE BACK. Hard to find places like this these days it's a treasure keep up the great work. Great for persons like me Coeliac disease [Gluten Free].

I really like this local pub, but needs a few tweaks.. Especially the older management, maybe try smiling and serving customers like you wish them to be there!

Always a lovely meal at the Bulls Head. Plenty of choice on the menu plus a specials board to choose from. The roast dinners take some beating, they're really tasty. We like the option of being able to order a smaller portion if necessary. Great value for money all round. There is a nice atmosphere, especially when the fires are lit. It's friendly and the staff in general are amazing. Thank you team 🙏🏻

Ate here on a Saturday lunchtime . We would both recommend the mains we chose , especially the homemade cheese flan. A large establishment which deserves more clientele than were there when we visited . We've booked for a larger party ( 20 ) to eat there soon .

Lovely old traditional pub with cozy warm fire. Food ordered burger and hickory chicken. The burger was overcooked almost to the point of being burnt. The chicken was essentially a microwave dinner. Wish I had taken a picture to show how disappointing it was. The food used to be excellent.

Good food at reasonable prices in a welcoming country pub. Had a great Sunday lunch in a traditional environment, with good sized portions (as well as a sensible smaller option for those with less appetite). Would recommend.

Little quiet buy thoroughly enjoyable family meal. Shame we went at night as there is a lovely play area we need to get back too.

Pub on a main road a few miles from a junction on the M6 so if you want a break, not at a service station this is good. Decor old fashioned. Toilets would benefit from more often cleaning. Staff were friendly. Food was excellent and their main dishes have reduced portions options if you want a light meal. Good idea. Had mango chicken which was delicious. Ask if you want salad instead of chips for example, they will do this.

Family run and owned, this is the dictionary definition of a English country pub. Food is good quality traditional fare and hearty portions. The ale on offer is very well kept, and very good. Good play area for kids and surrounded by lush Cheshire pasture. A gem

Went to a bike show and beer festival the outside space is awesome, only tried a chip butty was really nice.

Having been let down last minute at a nearby pub, we rang the bulls head and asked if there was any chance they could fit 18 people in for a 60th wedding anniversary in ten minutes time as we were around the corner. The staff were completely unfazed by this and welcomed us with open arms, the food was lovely and the service was absolutely brilliant. We cannot thankyou enough for accommodating us at such short notice and turning a disaster into a brilliant night, well done.

Not been here for a while. Original setting pub. Large conservatory and outside area. Varied menu incl smaller portions. Partner had steak pie, chips and gravy and I had smaller portion fish and chips. Very nice. Took the pug too.
