I parked my car and had breakfast in Wetherspoon Hotel. After I parked my car, I immediately paid the parking fee and I got a receipt. Surprisingly, I received a penalty notice after few days telling me I did not pay for the parking fee. I sent them the receipt and make dispute for the penalty, I sent email to Wetherspoon and hope they could offer help. Both Euro Car and Wetherspoon refused to waive the penalty and claimed the ‘receipt’ I got was not a parking ticket. Then what’s the point you gave me a piece of rubbish paper and it was even showing the parking fee I paid was £1! It was very misleading! Wetherspoon replied my email and said they couldn’t help, it’s the issue of Euro Car. So irresponsible! It was totally a robbery! I would never visit this hotel again.

The car park was totally a robbery! JD Wetherspoon did not even listen to the customer and not willing to offer help in case of dispute of parking penalty even I could provide evidence and receipt of my parking fee. Rubbish management! Just be careful of the misleading paper from the machine which Euro Car claimed it was not a parking ticket, but actually it looked exactly the same as a parking ticket, so ridiculous! It’s just like a scam!

Where to start? Definitely not a 5 star stay, 3 if being generous. Room number 101 was a decent size but woefully unclean. All areas that need more than a superficiall wipe were very dusty. Particularly the little tray that holds the kettle, tea and coffee. The bathroom tiling was in need of re-grouting as it is gross. The hair dryer had a 'Failed. Do not use' sticker on it from it's PAT test. Great friendly staff though. Bed was comfortable enough. Breakfast was of course not included but from the extensive Wetherspoon's menu. I had as always the vegetarian breakfast. Toast was not really toasted. Mushroom was stone cold. But you gets what you pays for and a cooked breakfast and as much coffee as you can drink for under a fiver? I'm in! Important context: My experience was a 1 night stay and does not represent this establishment in it's entirety. No-one in hospitality sets out to provide a poor experience. Anyone can have an off day.

A Standard Wetherspoons pub with the usual wide selection of very reasonably priced beers and food menu. Atmosphere is ok and it can get pretty busy. Food quality isn't as good as it used to be, but that's the same across most Wetherspoons these days. Have been going in this one for over twenty years now and it's looking pretty tired and a bit shabby so could do with a bit of a refurb to be honest.

We’re regulars at The Brocket however it just falls short in comparison to other Wetherspoons! The food doesn’t seem to be cooked in the same way as other Wetherspoons and falls short of being what it used to be. We usually sit round the back in the unofficial family area which unfortunately has quickly become the vaping area!!! Staff don’t seem to want to deal with it. I’ve asked the staff, I’ve asked the people who are vaping to stop and nothing happens. I can imagine this is difficult to deal with however it’s not what you want when I’m coming to eat. Please encourage and train your staff to speak to people vaping and back them up when they do! Thanks

We love a good Wether's wherever we go, can always count on the good food for good prices, especially breakfast! We've been to The Brocket tonnes of times over the years... (if you can find a Wigan'er that hasn't I'd be very impressed) and it's always been a great place. We haven't been though in a couple years (since before COVID) and decided to stop by at the weekend for a spontaneous breakfast. The place is looking a little run-down now though to be honest, and here's why: Even though the place was almost empty, half of the tables weren't cleaned properly before we chose one. Eventually when we found a clean one suitable for me and my wife and our 1 year old daughter, the cushions on the bench chairs were all falling off, and there were ants residing in the window cills. We ended up moving again! Service wise, the only time we saw/spoke to anyone who worked there was the person who brought out our food, of which got it wrong and had to go back. They were also not really friendly, and quite cold/not helpful. As an example, I asked for Ketchup and was just responded with "It's self serve, its over there" in an unfriendly (couldn't be bothered dealing with me) manner. This all being said, we love the Brocket, its a decent little stop-off for a brekkie when we're in the area, just wish it was looked after a little better. I think it needs a little bit of TLC personally.

Has got to be one of the most expensive visits for snacks and drinks I have ever had. This is beyond a joke. The first pub I have ever known to charge for parking and then to be fined by ECP who I believe are employed by the Brocket just adds insult to injury so won't be going there again I'm afraid and will think carefully about whetherspoons pubs if these practices are being adopted by them. I went to sort this with the Brocket...the man on reception (at least twice my age) firstly laughed in my face and said it is what it is, you've got to pay! I explained I'd been told 1hr was free if buying food etc and simply couldn't afford £75 (£135 if I didn't pay in a matter of days) for mis communication...he went on to ask if I was a regular there (I'm not) so if I'd have lied and said I was a regular he would have cancelled it! I asked him if he thought it was acceptable to be charging people such crazy amounts for such a short amount of time. Voices were raised and he was really arrogant. He told me 'I have the POWER to cancel this, but I'm not going to if you carry on with the attitude. At that point I was beyond annoyed and told him I wasn't standing there taking it from him and not giving it back! After 10 mins or so of arguing and getting nowhere I gave up and starting to walk away. He told me to 'wait and see' if it would be cancelled and said one thing I will tell you...if you come here again and get another ticket (as if I did it on purpose) I WON'T do anything about it!

Foods fine and cheap. Staff are polite. It's what you expect of a Wetherspoons really. We tend to go a lot

Where do I start. The first thing you see when you walk in is dirty glasses piled high on a corner of the bar, I’m not sure if these are from the previous night but as I visited at 12 noon I would imagine so.. Dirty tables, dirty toilets and mediocre food. I’m not sure if this is due to minimal staff although there did seem to be a lot of staff around and not many customers or due to lack of training by the company. The whole place is in need of a refurbishment and deep clean. As always customer care skills are not high priority as with many Wetherspoons. I don’t expect restaurant standards and it’s not somewhere I visit often hopefully next time I call in there will be improvement.

Never stayed here but both eaten and drank here. Good variety of both food and drink at reasonable prices. Food isn't fantastic but it is edible. Nice friendly and welcoming staff. Pub has a good atmosphere. Very close to town centre and Wigan lane making it a central hub for meeting up.

Won’t be coming here again. Faffing about for change to park is a joke. I love a good weatherspoons brunch too!

I am absolutely disgusted at the customer service at the brocket arms restaurant as today my child and her friends went to get food and was denied it because they didn’t have ID 59 prove that they were 16, however young people around who my daughter and her friends knew that were under 16 were served without ID multiple times. It would be understandable if the girls were asking for alcohol but they didn’t and were forced to leave the premises after the manager basically told them that it depends how old the barman thinks you are and is his choice whether to serve you or not. Neither me or my daughter & her friends will be returning.

Myself and my partner are frequent visitors to the broket as it is very local to us. On 18.05.18 we went for our tea from work, the pub was very busy and we had a long wait for our food (around 40 minutes) we did ask how long it would be as we were conscious of the time left on our car park ticket. We were told it would be coming soon as they were being as quick as they could. We ate our food and left quickly to try and avoid any charges. However 2 weeks later I have come home to a letter saying we have a £75 fine for being 19 minutes over on our parking! I find this very harsh as we left as soon as we ate our food and spoke to a member of staff about our concerns. It’s not like we stayed for extra drinks! As regular paying customers I find it outrageous that I am expected to leave half way through my food to pay again for parking as there is a delay in the kitchen/service. Very sad to say but will not be returning anytime soon.

My husband and I have enjoyed numerous meals here since we moved to Wigan. We came for our usual weekly meal on the 10th May. As usual, I drove so the hubby could have a drink. I paid the £1 for the privilege of parking on the premises and thought nothing more of it. The pub was busier than usual, which meant that our food took longer than usual to arrive. Anyway, we ate up what was just an average meal and left. I've now received a parking penalty for £45, as I was parked a few minutes longer than 1 hour. I'm afraid this has left me cold and reluctant to return. Am I supposed to clock watch and go and put more money in the meter half way through my meal. It doesn't make for a good experience and for what has proved to be a very expensive meal. I know that the first hour can be reimbursed, but I've not taken advantage of that, but it might cause less upset if staff informed customers if when bust that there may be a wait on food and for customers to consider that if they're parking on the premises. That might help avoid losing upset customers

Let down by lack of communication. App does not tell you if service is behind, but surely staff could warn you when they bring your drinks. An hour wait for food in a spoons? Not normal, but not good enough.

This pub is my local and I go in a couple of times a week for a few pints. I appreciate JD Wetherspoons pubs operate under tight budgets but I've been in many others in the chain all round the country and have never seen such rank bad management and poor organisation. Last night (a Thursday) I went in and waited well over ten minutes to be served. Thursday is generally considered to be moderately busy and when I went in there were TWO bar staff and ONE glass collector working. This was blamed on the rota, not the management. If this is the case then who is arranging the rota ! The mind boggles. I don't have any problem with the staff. Most work hard under often very difficult conditions. The problem is clearly with the management, training and complete lack of competent organisation. Long waiting times at the bar (even when it's quiet) are very common (and well known locally) and it's always blamed by staff on other staff not coming in, rota problems etc etc. There are always excuses and it's getting worse if that's even possible. Last night the three gentlemen waiting next to me walked out after ten minutes and took their business elsewhere. Basically it's a shambles, a long running (unfunny) local joke and it needs sorting by proper management, relevant training and COMPETENT organisation for everyone's benefit, including JD Wetherspoon. Sort it out, I'm thirsty !!

I've lived in Wigan for decades, visited the Brocket so many times and have always known it to be free parking. Moved away from the area but came back to visit friends on the 18th March and after receiving a parking fine I can safely say I will never be going back. Signs are not clear re. parking terms (why not a sign on entry stating you now charge?) although I'm not sure why I'd even be looking for said signs when even your website still states there is a free car park. I've never known of any other pub car park to charge like this and find it disgusting that you now do (to say you don't want people to use the car park to then walk into the town centre is a rubbish excuse and makes no sense for a Sunday afternoon when I visited). Even the service was shocking - I waited at the bar to order two soft drinks and it took that long my friend came to find me to see what was happening. Staff were stressed and appeared untrained (I watched two of the four serving struggle to replace a barrel), no attention was paid to who was next in line to be served and it took an absolute lifetime for staff to walk to the other side of the bar to pull drinks from fridges; the faces on everyone waiting to be served said it all! The place is going completely downhill. I've made sure to tell all family/friends about my rubbish experience here so that they don't have to waste their time and money as I did.

Visited the Brocket on 14th March for an early evening tea on the way home, paid my parking fee £1 as we only expected to be there for an hour, but we were held up inside the pub due to a problem with our table being double booked and then food order had to be changed because of stock. We eventually left the Brocket a little later than expected and now have a £75 fine reduced to £45 if i decide to pay early
