Went there with a bunch of friends and family. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The staff is very courteous and radiate positivity. Do try the pistachio soufflé and the stick toffee pudding for desert. The best part is they update the menu every quarter to include seasonal fruits and vegetables. Do visit if you’re in and around Bournemouth.

Sunday Roast : absolute rip off . 3 tiny bits of beef , one mouthful of cabbage , one mouthful of cauliflower cheese , 1.5 roast potatoes and half a carrot and Yorkshire pudding . £23!!!! came out hungry and feeling like I’d been robbed . I cannot believe this place can take that kind of money for such minuscule portions . There should be a law against it.

Meeting old friends for Sunday lunch. Researched pub b4 we chose the venue. Sadly the experience did not live up to hype. Service was slow. Food took ages to come out and then it had obviously been sat under hot plate. The. cauliflower cheese was dry and all our food was warm not hot. When we complained we were offered free desserts and coffees which we took advantage of but the staff member was insincere and borderline rude. We would not go back. Plenty of great places to eat. What a shame

Over priced for the very small portion of roast beef dinner. Left hungry after paying £23. Staff were good but that doesn’t make up for a small portion. I’m not a big eater but I left hungry, left me feeling disappointed.

A lovely venue , friendly staff . However we were there as a large celebration group and there were a couple of issues. I was surprised that the ladies toilets had no toilet paper and it was a lunchtime booking (so should have been checked) and several empty toilet rolls on the floor. The dirty glasses were not removed from the tables we were surrounded by empties throughout the meal ( As were other tables) So I think attention to detail needed. The food was delicious the beef very tender. Had to ask for extra gravy as it was very sparse. Lots of potatos though. Worth a visit.

Such a find! Fabulous beer garden area behind. We have since attended again, so this is a second review [can't work out how to add > 1 review!]. Anyway, we have to say this was an outstanding experience! Totally blew us away. From the moment we arrived and were superbly taken care of by our wonderful waiter Daron [I apologise if I have mis-spelled his name] through to the food itself. Firstly, and I mean this is a "first" anywhere: he greeted us by shaking my hand and welcoming us. A greeting he sincerely repeated with Julia; not in a sleazy way but totally respectful. He then enquired as to our preference to sit inside or out. As it was hot, we elected to stay indoors and were led to our table in the restaurant and seated. He explained the menu, all the while engaging in pleasant, humorous banter that put us both at ease. We wanted a suitable wine; and when asked discovered he was a sommelier, knowledgeable in the specifics of the available wines and recommended [accurately] fresh, crips and dry Italian Rose. The menu is good, not extensive but varied enough for most tastes. As is typical for Dorset eateries; the focus is on fish which is not my 'thing' but I opted for the rolled pork with apricot; while Julia had the Duck. The rolled pork was perfection! I've not had anything like it ever before as it can often be too sweet. But not this one. The dish was a delightful blend of flavours and sensations masterfully crafted by chef. Everything was done perfectly. From the roast vegetables which were still lovely and crisp but not underdone to the individual cauliflower cheese portion that had been finished under flame of grill. The pork itself was smooth and tender. Perfectly roasted. I felt I was having a fine-dining experience. Julia's duck was equally wonderful; as duck can often be dry. For Julia; who loves strong flavours; there could have been more - but that is not a criticism as most would have delighted in the subtle flavours. Onto desserts: I'm a fan of souffle IF done well. After the experience of the main; I suspected we were in the presence of a chef or set of chefs who seriously know their craft, so with anticipation ordered the pistachio soufflé and Julia ordered the apple and gooseberry crumble. Neither of us had seen, let alone eaten gooseberries for decades. We eagerly anticipated our desserts. And they were stupendous! Generous and tasty. Truly perfection. Then, just as we thought it couldn't get any better; we decided to partake of an after dinner 'special' drink. My darling Julia loves Espresso Martini so could not go past their Salted Caramel special-take and it was wonderful. I'm a single-malt guy and had already picked a 15yo; when I started chatting with our wonderful waiter who spoke of Caribbean tradition sipping warmed, aged dark rum. I do love dark rum, but knew nothing of it. I decided to allow him to educate me; and asked for what he would have, traditionally. Out came a Brazilian dark rum in a brandy-snifter nestled on a crystal goblet of hot water, gently warming the rum. Meanwhile the vapours were trapped by a folded paper screen keeping the scent within the brandy snifter. I had never had dark rum this way, and I am a convert. Simply the most smooth delicious liquid; the equal or better than the finest whisky. Both Julia and I were totally taken-aback by this fine-dining experience we had; and have found our new favourite place. Should you go here? Well, yes you should - but not too many of you as we want to be able to get in too! We are already booked in for Boxing Day lunch.

Over-priced and not quite hitting the mark. One starter was late....due to it being dropped...these things happen. But all others at the table had finished by thr time it arrived. We were offered the special which was either meat or seafood paella, being told it was a substantial dish to share between two. We ordered one of each for 4 people. When it arrived, it was disappointing....lacking in flavour but still adequately pleasant to eat. Would I eat it again?....no. Especially if it was cooked by that chef. We then found out that the proce was £25/head...which I wouldn't have minded if it was delicious amd/or substantial in portion size. We had to ask twice for water and a water glass was was chipped. The special wasn't written anywhere and we weren't told how much it was when given the option. The waiter was nice and tried his best to fix the issues, but this fell short of what is acceptable for the product you are paying for. I've eaten here before, but this will be the last time. Much better places to go with better food, better prices and better service.

Last stop on the way home with a friend for a couple of pints. Put a £20 note on its edge on the bar as payment while the barman poured the first pint. Once the second pint had been poured I went to hand over the note only to be told ‘we are cashless’.one notice at the far end of the bar, nothing by the pumps. My friend had to pay using his phone. On reflection I wish we had walked out. No wonder we were the only ones in there. Any establishment that is cashless, restaurants or bars, I walk out. Is it the end of the world…no. It’s certainly a first world issue but we are paying to be there and it is not a cheap eat. They missed the service mark for us. A shame as the food was good.

Update June 24 Hard choice in the lovely Cross but this place is my favourite. Everything I want. Huge sunny beer garden and outdoor bar. Comfy formal or bar dining inside. Gorgeous food, well thought out and perfectly cooked. Great range of fizz. And staff who take every opportunity to make sure you enjoy yourself. Love it here. Have been here a few times for steak, cocktails and nibbles but wanted to try the roast. It's lush. Really well cooked and bottomless everything apart from the meat. The thing that makes this place for me is the staff. They are so well trained. It's a different standard all together. Total pleasure to deal with. Best outdoor space and garden bar in the Cross... massive with beautiful landscaping.

The fish soup starter was fantastic, hake as a main course was a massive disappointment, the sauce was insipid and tasteless, I would suggest thickening the sauce and adding some garlic, prawn and mussels, the potatoes were rock hard, not great, on an upside the rhubarb and lemon crumble was delicious, all in all a nice meal let down by the main course.😒

For my birthday celebration with my wife and our energetic five-year-old daughter, we decided to try out The Britannia in Poole, and we weren't disappointed. Despite being for outside dinners, the staff managed to seat us promptly and were friendly throughout our visit. The menu offered a good variety of dishes, catering to different tastes. I opted for the cheese souffle and meat pie, my wife went for a prawn pasta dish, and our daughter found something she liked on the children's menu (pesto past) the pasta was overcooked but we're Italian so she's used the al dente. The food was well-prepared and flavorful, and the portions were generous. We particularly enjoyed the male waiter who served us, he saw we were not drinking alcohol so recommend an allertnacve for my pie dish that would have come with a beer. Overall, The Britannia provided a pleasant dining experience for my birthday celebration. While it wasn't overly fancy, the food was close to fine dining and really good, the service was attentive, and we left satisfied. It's worth a visit if you're in the area. https://www.tripadvisor.co.za/ShowUserReviews-g190727-d25040179-r950653811-The_Britannia-Poole_Dorset_England.html#

You can't fault this as long as you view this as a great chain of pubs and restaurants. Probably the best chain. At Parkstone you get all you would expect but the service here is exceptional. Forget the Ivy group, their restaurants look fantastic but they have expanded too quickly and need to take a leaf out of the service this group offers. Well done the Britannia you train them well Sorry just been back and was fine but this is a 'Nanny' pub. 3 of us wanted to place a bet on Cheltenham racing. Nope but their wifi said we weren't adults. Ironically we tested it and got onto lots of sex sites for fun. Obviously the pub company is run by Metropolitan under 40 liberals

A few of my friends had the fish and chips, fish looked lovely and was reasonably sized but you only get a handful of french fries... Firstly, the food is consistently very good here since it changed ownership and emphasis in early 2023, the quality of service, ambience and cuisine is high. As usual, our starters and mains were as billed, inventive and enjoyable. Personally I think the 'applewood smoked' pork i tried is too heavily so, two of us who had the bass reported it delicious. Sadly there was a muck up leading to one starter arriving not as ordered, but passed the test as they replaced it very quickly and with profuse apologies. Our table waiter, also apologetic for the oversight, was welcoming and instantly developed a rapport with his humour. All in all highly recommended.

First time that we have dined at the Britannia. Had 25% off voucher for food. Not useable on steaks or the 2/3 course menu. Choose off the special 2/3 course menu. So disappointed. Ham hock terrine was fatty and served without any bread. Paid additionally for a steak. The 1st one Inedible (couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife). Sent back. The next steak was served cold. Didn’t feel that I could send another steak back. I am not a usual complainer. Had to ask for the ordered wine to be served some 20 mins after ordering. An automatic 10% service charge on the bill is really wrong. Don’t get me wrong but the staff were fine but the food slow and poor. A friend also dining today had to send her steak back as it was ‘cold’. Plate service with screw top wine. Why ask for an additional 10% on the bill?. Fine dining? Silver service? Embarrassing to remove from the bill. A shame today as we had heard good things about the Britannia from friends. Won’t be returning or recommending. Shame. We live locally. Our 25% voucher not redeemed. Nor ever likely to be again

Went here for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Great food, good brews. The beer garden is huge. They have heaters to keep the seating in the garden warm. They are pet friendly. Friendly bar staff. Overall a great place to get a few beers and good food.

We first sat outside in the lovely garden for a drink and then had a fantastic meal. We were quite a large group and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend going 👌

Today my husband and I had roast lamb and fresh vegetables. It was freshly cooked stuffing Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and tasty gravy. Thank you to Debbie ( staff) for friendly service. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a Sunday roast to try Millies Cove first.

Stopped by and ordered breaded (aka crumbed) cod and haddock. Was amazing fish and some of the best I’ve had traveling around the UK. Unfortunately the chips were a bit soggy by the time we opened the bag but I know some people like them that way.

We visited this establishment on a Tuesday lunch time. There was outdoor seating available we chose to sit there and watch the world go by. Orders were taken at the table, but I would note you had to go inside when you wanted to pay. We both ordered Ham egg and chips, which was disappointing. The egg ( yes only 1) was cooked in a ring ( very McDonald’s esq) and was very overdone. No runny yolk as one would expect with this dish to dip chips and ham into. The Ham was ok, and the chips passable but sparse. I’d say possibly we made a bad decedent with what we ordered, however it’s not difficult to get this british staple meal right. I’d say overpriced based on our meal that day. I wouldn’t choose to go back. On a side note and this is outside of the proprietors control. We were bothered several times by shady characters whilst sat outside establishment. All trying to sell counterfeit or stolen perfume and tobacco. They are quite persistent and off putting.
