Visited on the 07.07.21 and stayed in the lovely little, basic camp site opposite. An idyllic tea time visit, good company with the locals in a super, garden setting. The garden was stunning and the landlady, Sorrell, even sells plants which she cultivates herself. Paul, the landlord, stayed open later for us to watch the football semi finals deviating from the advertised weekday closing of 8pm. There was local Gwaun valley beer and a good selection of other beers and spirits. No food available. Cash sales only.

Called in for a drink part way through a walk along the beautiful valley. Entered the bar only for the whole room to fall silent and everyone stare at us! Bar tender not at all friendly either. As my wife left, laden with drinks, to join us in the dismal beer garden (the weather, however, was beautifully hot and sunny) she was unable to close the door. Someone shouted ‘born in a barn’ and slammed it behind her. I’m sure there are plenty of more friendly places if you’re in a car rather than on foot so would recommend giving the Bridge End a miss.

A camra award winning pub and for very good reason. I pop into the Bont several times a week just for the well kept well presented beer. Building a reuputation for Sunday Lunch quite right too. I recommend a pint of Teift as an entree with Dark Heart as a main course with the guest beer for desert. Thats what a sunday Lunch should be....

We were staying nearby so thought we would support the local pub but wished we hadn’t bothered. The landlord was not at all friendly and not interested in recommending which beer my partner might like and when we asked if they were serving food he just said no, not even a sorry or an explanation why. A couple of the people at the bar were friendly but we felt we had intruded on a private gathering. We had our drinks and went and found another pub which thankfully was very welcoming.

I drove past this pub on the weekend and noticed a blackboard outside saying food served Friday and Saturday evenings and lunch on a Sunday, fair play so I gave it a go.The Bar was friendly and welcoming, it had a roaring log fire and an interesting menu.I tried the Trinchado, an Portuguese inspired African dish of beef marinated in chillies and wine, it was served in a bowl with sides of fresh bread and fries. When I placed my order the lady serving said the bread was for dunking, so I dunked the bread in the rich thick gravy, it was divine, half way through I tipped the bowl onto the plate and finished it off with the fries. The portion size was full and the beef plentiful, I have to say every mouthful was succulent and so tasty, I wished I had the capacity to have it again straight after. It was just under £12 and there were other options on the menu to suit all tastes and pockets. The beers were also good, as was the company. Thank you the Llanychaer community.

Bit of a mix up as partner thought plate it up meant just putting it on a plate, we later discovered it meant on a plate to take out. So I can safly say, as a stay in meal one of the best, as a take out, plate is brimming . Both casses full of flavour .

Having always read reviews, but never written any, I have been compelled to comment on the delicious Sunday lunch that I had today at the Bont. From the minute we walked in through the door we were treated with warmth and professionalism from every member of staff, with not a hint of disorganisation nor rudeness. The pub was clean, warm and reassuringly untouched by stylists or interior designers. I personally like the teapots above the bar as it represents the homely ethos that epitomises this place, and is one of the many elements that draws people back time and time again - it does not pretend to be a place that it is not. The food was great. Good home cooking with plenty of choice and a generous portion. The attentive staff even offered us more vegetables. The real ales on offer tempted us to stay longer, as they, like everything else in this place are genuine and unspoilt. What more could anyone want? I have returned to this place time and time again, and I will continue to do so. I have never had a bad meal here over the years, nor experienced anything that would drive me away. Long may this place continue!

For me the Bridgend Inn ticks all the boxes as a genuine country pub with an ever changing selection of well kept ales and honest home cooked foods. I've visited several times enjoying the banter around the bar which is evident as you walk through the door. Everybody you deal with is attentive and friendly, making you feel welcome and part of what's going on. The menu has a decent selection of reasonably priced meals with an additional home cooked specials board. My favourites are the rich and succulent home cooked pies, and I've never been disappointed with any meal I've eaten there. For me this honest country pub in its beautiful location is worth a visit, and as the winter approaches it is one I will be undoubtedly returning to for a good pint of beer and delicious food in front of the wood burning stove.

When we were looking around for somewhere to host a pre-wedding meal for 30 relatives, the Bridgend Inn were eager to accommodate us, providing us with a menu etc, suggesting they were flexible. This was far from the truth! We tried to help the best we can by restricting the menu to a selection of 4 starters and 4 main choices off our own backs and provided the staff with a full break down of what everybody had ordered. As an organised person, I took the list with me to help the waitresses bring out the food to the right person. When we arrived, I informed the staff that 4 of our guests were delayed and asked them if it was possible to hold off on cooking these 4 meals until they arrived as I didn't want them to eat cold food. As a result of this, the rudeness begun. They told me that it was not possible to change orders now and the staff were clearly flustered and refusing to listen to my request. After far too long, they finally caught onto what I was after, and without an apology, this was granted to me.The food came out, and in fairness was of an average quality. At the end of the meal, people started to pay for their meals and this was when the real carnage begun. The barmaid was so disorganised and as most of the Welsh guests had paid and left, she started to complain loudly about how the tab wasnt settled etc. My guests who hadn't paid were still at the table eating! It was just as well they didn't understand English as this was rudeness at the highest level!I tried to sort out the situation and the barmaid refused to listen to reason. I went through the list, ticking off what everyone had ordered and compared this to her notes on who had paid, and who was still eating. After this, there was a dispute about a meal she thinks was unaccounted for. On her original list, she had ticked off that this had been paid! She then threw a tantrum instead of listening to reason and eventually, after much deliberation with the owner, and me making my guests get up from the table to pay for their meals while they were eating and we found that one of the numbered slips had been torn off and thrown away, probably the one containing the details of the missing meal!Everyone makes mistakes, but the rudeness was abhorrent. The staff did not want to solve the problem, but were eager to suggest we were trying to get out of paying a tenner after we provided them with over £400 business in one day! From the outset they were not friendly. I would seriously recommend that you consider going elsewhere...

Disorganised from the moment we arrived. Couldn't work out where to seat us, as they had a big party in which clearly absorbed all their time. Felt like we were uninvited guest at a wedding! Food was all cooked from frozen, which is not unusual, but one of our dishes was still frozen. Main courses were adequate - no better. Beer great, service was good up to the point of the frozen dish issue, when they spent the entire evening apologising. Offered a paltry £2 discount. I would have blown up, but we were with friends. Pudding was superb however !! With a bit of better management and an updated decor (teapot collection above the bar - really ??) it could be really good. Can't really recommend until they get their act together.

Good quantity of food which arrived almost immediately after we had sat down. We were in and out in well under an hour. A couple of minor mistakes with the orders but staff were very polite and apologetic. Had the impression they were fairly new to the game. It was a rainy Sunday in Pembrokeshire. We were hungry, and a Google search pointed this place out. We almost knew what to expect and fancied a chinnese. Anyone with physical limitations do not try to access. No lights to the path and pitch dark. Once you're in it's cold and sparse. A few tables to accommodate sit downs but this place runs mostly on take aways. The cook was very busy. A young man taking orders, serving and dealing with customers coming in and out. Bit chaotic. We kept our coats on ate our dishes, which were nicer than expected. Worth a venture ... some fun a bit like faulty towers. We would go back.

The location styling and ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, it’s just a shame the food did not meet the same standards We skipped starters and went straight to the main menu. We had “Oceans Muscles” & “Summerberry Fillet Steak”. The muscles were ok, a good sized portion that were tasty and neatly delivered. The sauce was nice albeit a little thick. The menu advertised the dish would come with “chunky chips & bread for Dunking,” the bread was forgotten. A side of vegetables ordered alongside this dish were also forgotten. The Summeryberry Fillet Steak is one of the more expensive items on the menu. It was really disappointing and not worth the £36.95. The meat itself was ok, a good size and well cooked. The garnish looked really sad and wilted, the Brie that is served on top of the steak was thin & bland, but worst of all was the summer fruits. They looked, felt and tasted like they had just been defrosted and placed around the plate to make it look fancy and colourful. It made the whole dish taste really sharp, the ingredients just didn’t compliment one another. Ordered alongside this was the Baytrees “famous” garlic cheesy new potato’s. Microwaved garlic butter and melted cheese stuck under a grill for a minute or two? Not sure how, but again it was really watery. Overall we were so disappointed we skipped desert, settled up having had to challenge the missing items on the bill and left. It’s not somewhere we would go back to.
