Gone down nick in my opinion despite renovation

Karaoke on Saturday night several weeks ago was good. Staff friendly, quick service. Haven’t been for years but definitely going to return. 🎼🎤🍸🍹

Came up from london and stayed in the apartments next door. As soon as we arrived the team were on hand to show us where to go to our room. The pub was great and really well run. Everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere on Friday and Saturday night was great with karaoke! We had such a great time in Huddersfield thanks to these guys and will definitely be back to the boy and the barrel when we visit next!

Would be a great pub if the DJ actually had a clue about the clientele. Played his own tunes that cleared the dancefloor. People were waiting to sing on the "karaoke" but they were selected by familiarity it seemed. Entertainment should read the floor and he clearly didn't. It seemed he thought being the DJ gave him some "big persona". Shame as it was a great pub with fab bar staff and really friendly locals.

Absolute dive! Cheap drink, terrible music and full of the best town has to offer. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will go again

I'm not entirely sure what's happened to this pub but my visit felt like stepping into a very loud, very smelly fever dream.

Amazing staff, management and djs are lovely to talk to, as are the other staff

Amazing pub and amazing staff. The place to be on a Sunday night, for kareoke with Wayne. They also do kareoke Wednesday, Friday Saturday nights, aswell as Mondays 12pm-6pm

Was dingy and had an uneasy atmosphere of malice filled the place

Visited with my son last night, the pub was very busy and the clientel was a bit rough, one paticular man was pestering me constantly standing over me and chating. He then wheeled a mannequin just head and torso no limbs up to me in a pushchair and proceeded to pick it up and put it on my knee,"meet baby" he said. I put the dummy back in the pushchair the mannequin not the rude uncouth pest of a man. Much to my relief he went away for a while but after a while he was back. He passed by me and has he did he grabbed my leg and squeezed it. Of course I confronted him and to my horror was asked to leave by the bouncers, who were very rude when I tried to explain what had happened they didn't seem to think he'd done anything wrong. I have given 1 star Purley because the manager came to my assistance and was very supportive and promised to look on the security cameras weather he does or not I have no idea but I did appreciate his support at the time. A pub full of knuckle dragging neanderthals. With a thug culture.

Went Saturday tea time was 2 people in.

I enjoy several pints a week at this venue the foods amazing and so are the staff love the atmosphere friendly A***

Good enough for cheap pre-drinks but steer clear when the football's on. Shame there's no pool table anymore.

Went to an away game, pub was very busy but the staff were very polite and swift with service. Bonus, cheap beer, would recommend

Awful tasting beer need to clean the pipes or something not a lot of seating area and quite compact only plus the bar maid was an absolute sort

Quite empty when I was in there but it was before 9pm on a Saturday

Had my first pint in this pub 4 weeks ago went back like a fool on monday and both pints was very bad. Not like me to have 2 bad pints in 4 weeks.

Nice place but very regular orientated. If your not a regular your not welcome.

Nice local traditional pub with friendly staff.

The pub itself is still open and is very welcoming to all. Next to the old Johnnie's which is now closed it offers a day or night out to all.

Good prices for drinks, don't always have some event on which is nice, bartenders are great as well, when they are actually serving and not on the phone, was waiting 15-20mins to be served in a dead pub

I've never actually been but I've dropped a friend off there and the music is loud and I hear it's great to drink there

Seemed a very small pub. Not much choice of beer and was very dark despite being daytime.

Came here on Saturday, they had amazing karaoke on and the atmosphere was lovely! The staff were really nice and very welcoming, and dj was also really nice! We all had a great time and will defo come back!

It's alright if you're after just a quick drink, wouldn't spend all day in here at all, had a strong smell of urine and the regulars just give you an off feeling.
