Best establishment in town to eat for food, we are regulars. Martin the owner along with his partner Kyle always go out of their way to accomodate customers. Most recently baking a fantastic birthday cake for my wife when I requested. The cake was just as tasty as the food on offer at the cafe. A lot of people aren't aware that cakes can be made so thought we'd mention how brilliant ours was for others to know about. Our particular favourites in the cafe are the breakfast options and also the toasted scones and croque Monsieur which was added recently. All the food is quality local ingredients and homemade. It'll always be our number one eatery.

We came for lunch as a family of 4 and were a little disappointed. My daughter loved her vanilla milkshake but the other drinks were a bit lacking with my husband getting a can of Pepsi with a message to only be sold as part of a multi pack and my eldest daughter and I witnessing a staff member going to the local Tesco Express for the lemonade component of our Raspberry lemonade which cost £4. Food was ok. Way too much mayo on the coleslaw though which made it inedible. No toilets on the premises which was odd. Probably wouldn't return.

A hidden gem! A quintessential absolutely delightful English cafe - beautiful aesthetics, and cosy atmosphere . Fab menu…a must try are the incredible freshly baked warm scones (cheese scones to die for!) and the toasties…but looking at other people’s plates, can imagine everything is delicious. Also excellent coffee! Everything looks delicious and beautifully presented. A must visit cafe for dog lovers - my 2 dogs were welcomed with a bowl of water and the offer of sausages! The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and very passionate about their cafe. It’s a little hidden- but can’t recommend it too highly. So happy we found it by chance.

Quite by accident we popped into this lovely cafe as not only is it dog friendly but also the sister cafe to Cafe Fletcher in Bideford. Again we had a chat with the owners as we enjoyed the lovely food. We'll worth a visit and we'll certainly revisit when back in Barnstaple.

I cannot recommend Boutcafé enough!!! I absolutely love it either for a romantic breakfast with my partner, a family lunch or quick nibble with the girls. The food is amazing, delicious with tasty products and orange yolk eggs (you don't find that often!!)!!! Martin and his staff are fabulous!!! Always with a smile, kind, polite and always making sure to make you feel special. Defenetly the best Café in North Devon!❤️ Em

We visited this place and were blown away ! - we had Chilli Nachos and a Ploughmans Lunch both were amazing, especially the ploughmans ! Huge and Yummy we also had a Homemade Raspberry Lemonade & Mango Cooler -

Looking at pictures and reviews, the cooked breakfast options look better than lunch, which we had. The ploughman's and panini were fine but for the price (esp the ploughman's), you'd hope for locally sourced cheeses and nice bread rather than supermarket cheese and white slice. The homemade slaw and pickles were better and the portion was generous. The milkshakes were also OK, but sweet rather than especially chocolatey. The service was really nice, attentive and friendly!

Very cute and welcoming cafe! I had poached eggs avocado on toast- one of the most delicious i’ve tried around Barnstaple (with an iced chai latte which was also tasty). I had a lovely time here and would definitely come back again!

Popped into Boutport Cafe where the staff welcomed me pleasantly. I had a tuna panini which was made very quickly! It was so delicious- would definitely recommend!

We booked online for a table for 2,lucky we did because it got packed pretty quickly. The food was delicious and very filling ,and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating . Would definitely recommend the classic devon breakfast We will definitely be coming back. Kind regards ~S and E~

Not bad by any means, but I could name several other small businesses in town that do the same job at similar prices. Its good, I just don't get what makes it award winning

Unreal food, just normal food done PERFECTLY. Would come here day after day and I don’t like going somewhere twice. Probably the best omelette I have ever had and I had a lot of omelette’s.

Before visiting Barnstaple, I researched cafes in the town. This family run, cosy cafe came up as an award-winning one. We therefore pre-booked our table online through their website. They stop serving breakfast at noon but we were still able to order it at 11.55am. We had a "Devon Breakfast," "Hashinator Crumpets" & scrambled eggs. All well cooked & nicely presented. We had a selection of coffees plus an OTT banana milkshake, made from ice cream & topped with cream. I also took away several of their home-made scones for later. Service was efficient & friendly. Points to note: • It is a small cafe so advance bookings are recommended - this then allocates a table to you for one hour. • It is a dog friendly cafe. • There are no toilets on site but the nearby pub allows cafe customers to use its facilities.

We don’t normally eat in Barnstaple but we popped in for breakfast as we saw it was highly rated for breakfast in the area and we were not disappointed! We both had breakfasts and I’m so fussy with food but it was lovely. One of the best tasting sausages I’ve ever had. The staff were so friendly and the cafe is small but cute. I cannot rate this place enough. We will be back next time we are in Barnstaple!

What a delightful place to go. Small and beautiful. The food and drinks are amazing and the staff very helpful. As clearly stated there are no toilet facilities so go before you get there. Can't wait to go back

Would have given zero if I could. Rude and not interested in our custom. Update to respond to your utter rubbish: there were two tables free. The first, for 4, was reserved, fair enough. The other for 2 had only one chair. The guy sat next to that table with his coat on an otherwise unused chair offered to move his coat but the member of staff told him not to bother. No one asked for my number, if they did then neither of us heard them. Don’t worry we won’t be coming back.

Absolute Gem of a cafe. Cute to look at and the food and drink are amazing. We went today for an Easter special hot chocolate and it was to die for! We also had a couple of sandwiches and paninis. The food was fresh and delicious. Also the staff were really attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Menu has plenty of options. Gradually working my way through.

Lovely catch up lunch with a friend. We both had toasties which came with crisps and the best coleslaw I have ever had. Great service and wonderful, friendly staff, thoroughly recommend a visit as their breakfast are fantastic too, a family favourite.

I would like to thank everyone who works here for the most amazing food, service and atmosphere. I had the best garlic mushroom l have ever had, such a big portion and freshly cooked. Everyone in the cafe was friendly and it really was a very enjoyable experience. I live locally an will definitely be going back again soon.

Absolutely fantastic, on our days off we tend to go out for breakfast and we like to try different places, no more. We have found the best breakfast in the South. The service is second to none and the coffee / food are unbelievable. I think all other cafes / businesses should call in to see how coffee and a breakfast should be done. 10 out of 10.

We chose this cafe totally by chance because it was dog friendly, and it is very people friendly too! The service was super quick and also really friendly. The menu is varied and really tempting - we will need to come back to try more! It was the best lunch I’ve had in ages.

We stumbled across this cafe looking for somewhere that was dog friendly and that could accommodate 6 of us. The lovely hostess straight away moved tables around to fit us in and made a lovely fuss of our 2 lively cocker spaniels! I cannot recommend this cafe enough - the food and the service were impeccable! They even gave our pups a warm sausage each to enjoy. Please do visit this cafe - it is amazing!!

Absolutely fantastic breakfast, the quality of the produce used and the taste… The only thing I would say is, I wish they had a smaller breakfast for a lighter appetite as the breakfast is that delicious you want to eat it all, but for a smaller appetite or a child that would mean not having room for dinner later…To be fair and truthful this had put me off going on a few occasions… Which is disappointing as I want to go…..So Boutport Cafe could we pleaseeeee have a Breakfast for the smaller appetites too….Please!?

Took my vegetarian husband here this morning. Amazing service, Great food and really cozy atmosphere. First time visiting and would definitely visit again. We both felt very welcomed.

A lovely little place offering gorgeous, hearty breakfasts, amongst many other things! Cooked fresh to order. Prices were very reasonable as well. Both gents who worked there stopped for a chat with us and made us feel welcome. There was an issue with our booking but this wasn't their fault, however they did go out of their way to make it right. Would go back again for sure.

Once again a lovey visit to the cafe. Friendly staff and great food. The staff are so nice and make the time to talk to you as a person. ( not just see you as a cash flow object ) All the food we have had had been amazing not one thing we jade not liked. You can sway things around with in reason as well with no issue. For example I had the homemade marmalade instead of cranberry sauce. This was not a issue at all. Some places now charge you for that type of thing.

My daughter and myself popped in for lunch and we were given a lovely friendly welcome by two ladies in yellow. We both plumped for a panini and I had a pot of tea while my girl had a hot chocolate. The drinks were delivered with an explanation that the food would be a few minutes, which was fine because we weren't in any rush, and meant that we knew it was prepared fresh, I was offered a teacup for my tea over the lovely big mug-sized cup that was brought, but I prefer a big cup, so I was very happy with the big cup. When our food arrived it was piping hot and came with a very generous portion of crisps and some coleslaw. Everything we were given was delicious, and we were also provided with a takeaway box to bring what we couldn't manage home with us (we are having that for tea this evening!) The cafe was extremely clean, with one of the ladies giving each table a generous spray of sanitizer and wipe down after each customer left. The only negative was how very, very, warm it was - but this was not the fault of the cafe. It's summer, the front door was wide open, and they had a fan on full power - there really was nothing else that could be done about it, and I am sure it was far worse for them working in a hot kitchen. I would definitely recommend a visit (dogs are welcome too) I think at this time of the year, we will definitely use them as a takeaway, hey... but come the cold months, definitely a cafe to find a comfy perch in to keep warm, feel welcome, and be well fed. Thankyou so much.

First time here and it will not be the last. Lovely little independent café/coffee shop. We only had afternoon tea and it was delicious, the scones were huge, filled me right up. Friendly approachable staff, and dogs are more than welcome.

Saw that this was number one for breakfast so booked on line for today. Turned up early but my table had been reserved. Very friendly staff. Great menu. Ordered traditional breakfast and Horlicks. Not had that for years Horlicks was yummy just like I remember it Breakfast well presented. Full plate. Piping hot and excellent quality Would highly recommend as all the good and drinks being turned out looked equally as good as mine I will definitely be back

Very lovely Café with delicious cream tea and scones. Absolutely recommendation. Very kind staff. We arrived just before 3 o'clock. We still got our order were still allowed to enjoy in all peace, although normally 3pm closing time was.

Fantastic lunch here again today with my husband. We Had poached eggs on toast, Scrambled eggs on toast, all cooked fresh to order. Washed down with Sumer Iced latte and a Chocy Whocy do dah milkshake. Highly recommend this cafe, the staff are very friendly, professional and care about you as a person.

Really friendly staff, good tea and the food and drink arrived promptly. The place is dog friendly, I noticed dogs being treated with a plate of sausages and regulars clearly enjoy the place. The cafe is clean and nicely decorated, great curb appeal and is clearly very proud of the awards it’s won. I did have a little giggle at the sign on the blackboard which instructed customers to ‘please remain seated at ALL times’. An instruction I hope is leftover from covid days and will be removed soon! Also a shame that the cafe does not provide toilet facilities. This is the first cafe I’ve come across with indoor seating which doesn’t provide customer toilets. However the very friendly staff directed me to a pub which allows cafe customers to use their facilities. This isn’t a review of the pub but whilst I’m here, it’s not a pub I’d choose to go into, but needs must.

Been here twice this week alone which initself speaks volumes. Such a wonderful little cafe the owner who is also the chef is just so lovely top guy. Amazing food great job the server was also brilliant friendly and helpful nothing is to much trouble for these guys highly reccomend this cafe. Haven’t try the food might be nice but just being told fully booked with unfriendly staff when we can see few tables empty. Didn’t even offer to wait for next table so I feel they have double standard on customers.

Fantastic tasting food and a real hidden gem. Worth booking online to secure a spot as it's only a small cafe, but the food more than makes up for it. Great friendly staff too, we will be returning!
