Friendly service, great atmosphere, excellent coffee and the scones were delicious. Definitely recommend the North Coast Cafe

We visited here for lunch by chance as we were heading through Lynton on our way home. It was absolutely brilliant…there was literally to fault . The food was beautiful: lovely toasted sandwiches, and the scones were amazing with lots of different flavours and home-made jam. The two gentlemen who own the café were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble, even helping us to move tables around to accommodate us all. There was also a really nice, friendly and chilled atmosphere, and everything was spotlessly clean. Well done guys, we were so impressed. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to visit you again sometime.

Only had coffee and cake, but good quality coffee, friendly service and nicely decorated. Will definitely be back.

This coffee shop is an absolute gem! The coffee and tea selection is fantastic, and they even offer some delightful ciders for those looking for something different. Their freshly baked scones are an absolute must-try; there’s even a gluten free option. The baked potatoes are equally delicious, with generous toppings. The friendly atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy great food and drinks. Highly recommend stopping by!

Looking for a spot of lunch on a wintry walk, we came across the North Coast Cafe & really likes the look of the menu outside. We received such a warm and friendly welcome in the most perfect little cafe in Lynton & so glad we stopped by, The menu is varied but not overwhelming and the decor is modern but not clinical. Dogs are welcome & they have a cat who likes to wander in and out so we were more than comfy in this gorgeous place, Being a cold January day, I opted for the Lamb Stew and my husband the Club Sandwich. My stew honestly was so flavoursome and warming. It was perfectly balanced with chunky bread to mop up all the goodness. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his sandwich and it was more than generous in size. We both had a hot chocolate with all the extras and by the end of our visit our tummies were satisfied an we were ready to continue our walk. There is a good choice of cafes in Lynton but this has got to be our new favourite. We both look forward to going back to sample some of their delicious sounding homemade scone combinations.

This is the best coffee shop in Lynton. The owners are really friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. The salmon & scrambled egg bagel was delicious.

Outstanding service and fantastic choice

A lovely little cafe run by the lovely Jason. The food was delicious and the menue varied. We wanted a cream tea and was blown away with the choice of scones! We had Apple crumble scone with fug and apple compot and a cheese scone with red onion chutney accompanied by a creme brulee latte. Definitely worth a visit.

I stopped by a café during a walk and asked for a takeaway. I had a coffee from another place, which the man serving noticed. He said they don’t do takeaway, so I said fine, we’ll eat in. As I sat down, I took a sip of my coffee—I wasn’t going to let it go cold. He immediately interrupted, saying, “Sorry, you can’t drink that here.” When I asked what he expected me to do, he told me I could wait to leave to drink it or he’d refund my order. I found it so petty—he was that bothered by me sipping a coffee from somewhere else. I ended up leaving and thought, “What bad customer service.”

Lovely service and amazing scones. We tried ginger scones with lemon curd and clotted cream and it was so tasty! In the cafe you will find a little information area with lots of famous places to visit in this area. Located in the center of the town. Open every day excluded Monday and Friday from 10am till 3pm.

My ginger lemon curd scone was amazing. Fresh, warm, fluffy. And the lemon curd delicious and full of flavour. I ordered Rose latte (and added espresso shot to it). I could taste the rosy flavour and smell which i wanted. Very nice service too 🙂 stop by if you look for cosy cafe with good quality food. Oh and it was beautifully decorated with petal flowers😊

Stumbled across this lovely cafe on a day trip a few weeks ago. I had the cheese scone with cheese and red onion chutney. My husband had the best BLT sandwich he’d ever had. My son had a bacon sandwich and my daughter had a tea cake. The owner was very friendly and pays a lot of attention to detail. If I could have fitted anymore in I would have loved to have tried all the different scones as they sounded delicious. Hopefully one day we’ll be able to come back again :)

Absolute gem of a café. So many different flavours of scone to choose from. I had the coffee and walnut with cream and honey which was wonderfully baked, with spot on flavours.y wife tried the trio of Christmas scones - ginger, stollen and mince pie. Again , fantastic flavours. Can't wait to find an excuse to return to Lynton to try a different scone. The owner was very friendly and happy to help us choose.

Found this little gem of a cafe following a daytrip out to see the Valley of Rocks. Myself and two friends each decided to order two different types of scones as our lunch as we couldn’t decide between the many wonderful and unique flavours! I started with the Butternut Squash, Sage and Cheddar scone with Vintage ‘Cornish Crackler’ cheddar and red onion chutney. For my ‘dessert’ I then chose the Chocolate scone with Homemade Cherry Conserve. I can honestly say these are the best scones I have ever had! The savoury butternut squash scone was absolutely delicious and full of flavour with a lovely orange hue and was still warm from the oven. The cheddar and red onion chutney complimented it beautifully. The chocolate scone smelled incredible before I’d even sliced into it! There were delicious melty chocolate chips inside and coupled with the cherry conserve it made for the most delectable sweet treat. Chocolate and cherry is one of my favourite flavour combinations so I was excited to find this. I am going to try and recreate these scones myself but I doubt I’ll come close! The owner was also very friendly and warm and we felt really lucky to have found this cafe. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

This lovely little cafe offers the most delicious scones, with a twist…the warm ginger scone with lemon curd was out of this world! When you’ve finished eating there are lots of interesting little shops on the doorstep, and it’s just a couple of minutes away from the cliff side railway, so perfectly located. Very dog friendly with free treats on offer - what’s not to love?

The most incredible scones I've had in England. Seriously, I've had a lot of cream teas and this place is far and above the best, and they have tons of different scone flavours and spreads. And, they have gluten free scones as well!! A must stop if you're visiting Lynton, you won't be disappointed.

Food was stunning and coffee was amazing. But what was even better was the staff, the staff was lovely. My dad became a bit ill during the visit and a staff member went out of there way to see if he was ok. Lovely staff and lovely cafe I would really recommend!

Excellent little cafe. As a vegan it is often difficult to find somewhere for lunch when I am out walking but this place has a good selection of vegan savoury dishes. Had a vegan cheese, tomato and pickle sandwich and it was delicious. Good quality bread and overall a lovely, tasty lunch. The coffee is amazing, it was one of the best coffees I have had. Highly recommended if you are vegan and looking for a tasty lunch.

Delicious food and fantastic coffee! I stopped by for breakfast (salmon with scrambled eggs on a bagel) and tried the medium roast coffee. Absolutely delicious! You can choose between light, medium and dark roast coffee so there is something for everyone. Thumbs up!

The food, coffee, and service were delivered with love. The Roast Butternut Squash, Sage, & Cheddar Scone was particularly delicious, but you can't go wrong here because they are clearly passionate about what they do.

What a Lovely find. Jason and Neil go over and above. On our first visit I ordered a beautiful Oat Milk latte with Hazel nut syrup. I was even asked by Jason how much syrup I would like. He gave me some on the side just in case I wanted more! As we said above and beyond. The food is delicious and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much. 😊

We visited whilst on holiday and the scones were the best we had ever tried. The staff were amazing. I'd say this is a must visit for anyone visiting Lynton/Lynmouth and wanting to eat a scone, they had so many different varieties to choose from.

We chose this cafe as they had a barista coffee machine and wanted a good coffee but unfortunately received bad service and un-accommodating staff.

Stumbled across this lovely cafe while on holiday in the area. The food was lovely, especially the savoury scones, and the fellow serving us was really chatty and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

This was our second visit to the North Coast Cafe in a week.  And both visits were fantastic.  What a find.  Not only is the food excellent, tasty and generous portions. But the selection is great - especially the scones! Oh and the homemade jam was the best I've ever had. The proprietors are very welcoming and even after much discussion about the rose latte, then deciding to have a normal latte... only for a complimentary rose one to be served was such a lovely touch. It's a shame we no longer live locally,  as we wipe be here much more often. We will be back and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lynton.

Had such a warm welcome at this lovely cafe. Service was impeccable. The food was great - we had toasties, bagels and scones, all fresh and delicious. Some unusual scones too, which add a nice twist to a cream tea. The decor and crockery is really attractive too, so a very pleasant place to sit and eat. Definitely a place to recommend. The lovely couple running it clearly know what they're doing.

A genuine specialty coffee cafe where you actually get to choose your roast! The light-roast (Nomad) was deliciously flavoursome, hands down the best cortado I found in Devon, let alone Lynton. Incredibly nice staff who, as well as pulling a flawless shot, gave me some tips on home-brewing. If you're a self-confessed coffee snob this is the place to go.

A really lovely experience with delious food and atmosphere. The people who worked there were very welcoming and kind, they came quickly with are food which was delious and amazing drinks. We stopped in for a late lunch of tomato soup and cheese scones with plenty of butter! I’ve never tasted such a deliciously cheesy scone, nice and hot so the butter just melted into this divine little treat. Soup was completely delicious too, you could taste the herbs/spices used and it was a perfect accompaniment to the cheese scone. Thank you North Coast Cafe, you made our stay in Lynton extra special.

WOW! Exceptional service. Food was fresh and delicious. I assume it was the owners who also work in the cafe as the hospitality was of a very very high standard. It is a cosy cafe but if you are a small group, stop by here!

Extremely good coffee, flat white up there with the best in the UK, and the most amazing gluten free scone too. Even the home made jam in the cream tea was exceptional - chunks of fresh strawberry in it. Highly recommended.

An enjoyable place for a coffee and cake. Very good table service.

Horrified to see a lady, obviously a regular, with two little dogs sat on the bench seat either side of her. Let's this otherwise lovely cafe down. Please be aware some people are allergic to dogs and don't want to share the bench seating with them.

Went due to reviews about Flat Whites and espresso coffee. Can't fault them, highly recommended. Food was great although the club sandwich was big and too much, so get one to share if you don't eat a massive amount. Not a criticism, just an observation. They very kindly offered to put one half in a bag to take away, which we did. Open and honest about how long food takes to cook and serve. I liked that, as we've run a similar coffee shop so understand the pressures. Indies like this are not Mcdonalds. They take pride in food prep etc. A must if you're looking for coffee and food in Lynton. Teacakes and cakes in general looked great too.

It’s a really clean, beautifully decorated place with lots of food options, whether you’re in the mood for something big, small, sweet, savoury, vegetarian or otherwise! Great coffee with a handy visual guide in the back of the menu to help you decide on the coffee for you, plus loads of juice options etc. Really lovely place to brighten up even the rainiest of days!

Wonderful experience! The staff was absolutely lovely, and the ambiance was spotless and beautifully decorated. Unless you are a couple don’t try and visit this place!!! We (4 adults, 2 kids) stopped by after our friends had recommend this cafe. Our experience and how we were treated was however very different to theirs. Upon entering the cafe we were made to feel unwelcome with dagger stares from behind the counter. We proceed to sit down at a small table however there was enough seating for us all. We were kindly offered another table from the people next to us to accommodate us. It was then at this point it all went very much down hill. The man serving came up and before saying anything goes “I can’t feed you all!!!!” At which point we were all a little shocked. He then proceed to say all I can do is cakes and even that’s going to be difficult with you all - we were a table of 6!!!! It was at this point i upped and left, I felt so uncomfortable, unwelcome and judged - therefore not somewhere I wanted to be. You humiliated us in front of your other customers but I think more than anything it showed that maybe customer service training is needed. Maybe next time coming over and quietly saying “my apologies, there is a maximum number in here as the door shows (which is actually 6!), I can serve you but it may have to be staggered and may take a while are you happy with that?” Would have been a polite approach? Such a shame as I was looking forward to trying out your place after being recommended to do so, however after the way you made us feel, the embarrassment just for wanting to support your business… it upsets me that I have no choice but to share my unpleasant experience.

Awesome little cafe! Super friendly service and some of the very best cream teas I ever had. The scones were super fluffy and tasty. The Lady grey and the dirty chai latte were really great. So we had a brilliant time here and will come back for sure. Next time we will hopefully be able to try one of the breakfasts they have.
