My family have made The Botany a regular place to go out to eat. Usually visiting once a week/fortnight. We were served by a lovely girl who was polite and attentive. She advised that if we were looking to go out into the beer garden, we could ask a member of staff to open the broken door for us. Said door has been broken for months and months. After our meal, we fancied a cigarette so asked the dark haired woman with glasses if she could open the door for us to head out. She said no and to go round the front. We then said that the previous girl who was serving as advised to ask a member of staff to open the door for us. To which she abruptly replied "well I'm the manager and I'm saying you can't go out that way." A complete overreaction with unnecessary attitude. Sadly, because of this, the young girl who served us didn't get a tip (through no fault of her own) simply because "the manager" - with a superiority complex - doesn't know how to speak to paying customers. We've decided that we won't be returning as the very unfriendly "manager" has clouded what was a nice place to frequent. And I will not be spending my hard earned money in a place where customers are treated in such a way. I'm not surprised the place is always quiet when she's working. And given that the beer garden door has been out of commission for months and months, the owners could be doing with retaining their regular customers and may want to provide training to the "manager" with a chip on her shoulder. Ciao.

I asked for 1 sausage( I do not have a big appetite) and mash (one sausage only please) husband asked for Cajun burger. I got two sausages which were very very salty ☹️ husband cajun burger looked liked chicken left overs from a chick breast and Hardly any salad 🥲 also wine overpriced!!! 😱

This is the absolute hidden gem of dining in Glasgow. Tucked away on the edge of the fashionable West End it looks over a housing estate and seems an unlikely place to experience haut cuisine and superb ambiance. But against the odds it delivers both in spadefuls. A fabulous menu of exquisite food, served in an informal chic space, with a log burning stove for winter and an outside deck for summer, the whole place is a delight. Staff are superb. Helpful enthusiastic and knowledgeable. And the food sublime. ( spicy prawn soup an absolute must) A lively wine bar does the business out front. If you’re visiting Glasgow get this on your list. It will delight.

Today my friend and I asked if we could have a coffee and food at the Botany bar. An extremely grumpy old guy at the bar was rather rude saying: "it's fathers day, we're fully booked" He did have a valid point but instead of being rude he could have apologised but offered uscoffee or drinks. His attitude and hospitality have completely ruined my previous good impressions of the Botany. Thanks to that rude man, I will never be back. He has lost customers for the Botany due to his rudeness. Original review: Lovely bright dining area with views out over greenery at the back. My friend and I just had a coffee and I had a cake with mine. They do a deal with a cake and coffee for £5. I liked the decor and the lovely green views. The menu looked tempting and I think I will come back to give it a go. Just had another lovely stint at the Botany, this time, my friend and I had our dogs and sat in the nice beer garden out the back. I was blown away by how dog friendly all the staff are. Our dogs got a fabulous treat, I tried to catch them eating it but it was so tasty they had finished by the time I took the photo!

Scones were ok, slightly toasted but served with Butter and jam. No clotted cream 😔 did ask for cream but was told they don't have it. Cakes were nice but all shop bought, disappointed there was no home baking, or meringues. Staff were very pleasant and refilled teapot when requested. One man serving when we arrived and he was on the phone (not his fault) and we waited a bit but when he came off the phone, he was welcoming and showed us to our table, we promptly asked to move because it was so draughty being right at the large windows (patio doors). My only drawback we encountered was the place was frozen but fair play it was minus 7 outside but no extra heaters and little evidence of the actual heating system didn't make much difference in the place - my only main criticism of it to be fair. I had the Cullen Skink and my wife had the Pate - both delicious. I had the fish and chips, a little pricey but in range with most places in the area of the 'new west end' (it's not the west end but let's not argue about it). My wife enjoyed her dish and we both had desert, I think I threw the other waiter by asking for custard instead of ice-cream with my sticky toffee pudding. He wasn't as friendly (we felt) as the original guy who welcomed us but he was old school and knew how to assist customers. We will return - not in the depths of a bleak midwinter though. We might be able to finish a meal with a coffee this time as I was frozen solid by the time the bill arrived and just wanted to get back to my car and get the heating on. This once famous pub in Maryhill (or North Kelvinside if you prefer) has certainly changed and a welcome oasis on a rather familiar landscape, just watch out for the bus lane when you turn left out of the limited parking behind it.

Have passed this place often and heard about it, so finally went today. Lovely inside with a rustic dining area. Lovely log fire which we got to sit in front of, very cozy. Waitress was so attentive and the food was very tastey. My gravalax salmon with bread was a must and my penne aribiatta was perfect. My friends fish and chips is what I'm going to order next time. My fave sticky toffee pud was on the menu but sadly too full to attempt pudding. Coffees to finish. This place is a must to visit and right in the heart of Maryhill. I shall be returning. Very disabled friendly.

I’ve just been in for a meal before a football match, was told unhelpfully that we may not get seated as a big booking was coming in by a female member of staff. Male member of staff was lovely and found us a table in the nearly empty restaurant. As the female member of staff told us the kitchen may not be able to cope with the large booking and us, we only ordered starters as opposed to the mains we intended to get. This large booking ended up being 8 people. We are paying customers and were made to feel like an inconvenience. Your staff members attitude lost you not only the profit from our main meals, but our custom in the future. All customers should feel valued no matter how many are at the table.

I have been here 3 times and it will be the last. Food always cold. Mediocre menu. Cheaply sourced ingredients with meagre portions. Sunday Lunch/ Day time or Evening meal…. The hottest thing was my Tea on each occasion. I like to call this place ‘the gaff where the staff like to stand around and yack’ …. Even the kitchen staff are at it..… coupled with only a few people dining, it isn’t very busy…So I don’t understand the desire to serve COLD FOOD… they really cannot be bothered. I did give them the benefit of the doubt but people would be better off dining in the West End. It’s a shame this place survived the Pandemic. Side note: Even as I type the kitchen and floor staff are laughing loudly and fooling around.

I've gone to the Botany for years & have taken many friends. My experience on Wednesday September 7th at 1:30pm. was not helped by the waitress who served us. When I wanted to pay, she said she would be back with the card machine. Ten minutes later she didn't appear. I tried to catch the attention of another waitress, she didn't come to the table to ask what I wanted. I walked through to the bar & the waitress was sitting eating her lunch. I told her I was waiting to pay. Eventually she came back, no apology, she put the machine in front of me with an attitude. My friends could not believe what had happened. I will not be back.

Expensive pub, weird atmosphere. We were a group of 10 people and we were told to split up and sit separately so we were away from the bar and 'people could reach the toilet', despite bar stools being provided and there being barely anyone else in the pub. Later we were told to be quiet because we were talking too loudly. We weren't being rowdy, rude or offensive. We had 3 non-drinkers in our party and we were mostly playing chess - but apparently it was too loud. An odd and uncomfortable experience. Side note: the 'malt of the month' wasn't a single malt and the bar staff didn't seem to know what a single malt was.

I went for Valentine's day and honestly I'm really upset about it. The waiting staff were so lovely, but the food was awful. My terrine starter tasted like cat food, the pate was incredibly salty. For the main: the tofu was practically unflavoured and the apricot cous cous was so sweet it was like eating gritty jam. The paper was left on my dessert cake slice, which tasted like it was straight from the supermarket. I am actually really sad I paid for such bad food. Very disappointing. I will never go back.

We had a gathering of friends and family here after a funeral. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The conservatory had a lovely atmosphere. The log burning stove was very cosy. It's also fantastic that the venue is dog friendly.

Perfect lunch. Delicious duck with puy lentils and the blueberry cake is superb. Love this place and so handy just off the canal. Easy to cycle to.

We were staying at a hotel on the same street. Stopped in for a pint and when we saw tables nearby getting their food we couldn’t resist, it all looked to good. Pizza and macaroni were both really tasty. The pizza is thin and authentic. Not your average pub pizza. We shared the pizza and macaroni between two along with 3 of the small plates for £16. The small plates are so generous I think we could have just had those to be honest but they boxed our leftovers and we took it away for later. Great value for money. So glad we popped in.

great food and friendly service. I had a fantastic burger, the chilli loaded fries were greay and the kids like the make your own pizza. Very nice place. The Strip Joint is very child friendly, has great music and food.

Seriously good smash burgers. Quite spenny but worth it if you want a big juicy feed. Love the Big Bros Triple. Very well seasoned fries.
