Food was good but service appalling.

Absolutely will not be returning. Food was brought out cold and they then re-fried my cold chips. Ruined my birthday and then have blamed it on 'allergies'. Poor management and just lies.

Couldn’t recommend this place enough!! Came for my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it special! When showing to our seats, a “happy birthday” plaque was already at our table. Food was absolutely unreal- the only downside was there were too many options and we just wanted it all! Staff came over with a cocktail on the house as we were celebrating a birthday! Will definitely be returning!!!!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices for generous portions. Really happy with the meal and the live music was a nice surprise!

Warm welcome, bar staff friendly and know how to make a decent cocktail, chocolate old fashioned was very nice! Good atmosphere and we will return.

Dirty tables, dirty cutlery, and dirty glasses. I was charged for a beer that I never received. They charged £30 for a steak that was supposed to cost £28.95. It tasted like it was cooked in dirty old man's socks. The singular portobello mushroom tasted like it was pulled out of a rubbish bin sitting in the sun. The chips were hard to mess up as they're store-bought frozen ones that are just deep-fried. How this place is still open is beyond me. Probably only through scamming customers. Avoid at all costs. I rarely review anything, but this is horrendous. You can expect to receive better service and eat in a cleaner environment if you were in a pig pen. Horrible.

Terrible meals. Sunday roast veg absolutely swimming in grease. Roast potatoes had no potato in them was similar to the fat scraps you get at the chippy. Couldn’t eat it. Hubby asked for no chilli on his kebab but it still came with chilli so his meal was ruined. No one came to ask if our meals were ok or if we wanted another drink so had to nip to the bar mid-meal. I found this odd because it wasn’t busy at all. Been to this chain in Knutsford and it was delicious. We will never come here again.

50% of our parties food was cold and/or over cooked l ordered a kofta kebab and got a few overcooked meat balls on a skewer service was very poor we had to get drinks from the bar ourselves due to massive delays in staff service ? It was only 50% full at the very maximum I requested to speak to the duty manager to complain but they never appeared just told service staff to deduct £5 per person from bill🤮🤮 we have eaten on many occasions here previously but never ever again it was totally embarrassing they appeared to have a can't be bothered attitude which is not acceptable given the location and price point

I had a table booked for 8:30pm, my partner and I arrived a little before 8:30pm and stood waiting to be seated, a group arrived just behind us and asked if we were waiting for a table to which we said we were, the group (of 3) decided to head to the bar first. Whilst we stood there we saw people being served their food but nobody acknowledged we were stood there, I didn’t mind too much as it was busy and presumed they would get to us eventually. It gets to nearly 8:40 and the group that came in behind us appeared back at the stand with a staff member who proceeded to grab a few menus and tells the gentleman to follow him, my partner asked him if he was invisible! The staff member didn’t respond. When he came back, he was actually just walking right passed us and my partner stopped him and asked again if we were in fact invisible? Staff member asked why, we told him we had been stood there 10/15 minutes only for a group of walk ins to be seated before us, and we had actually pre booked! He apologised and grabbed some menus and proceeded to seat us only to find the only table left was a high table next to the bar, due to back problems I would not be able to climb on and off a bar stool. I decided at that point to give up! We went on to the media city branch and had wonderful food and service

My first visit but expected a little more! The place looked a bit tired. We asked for a cocktail off menu and the guys behind the bar didn’t have a clue. It was ok for a pre dinner drink.

I frequent “The Bot” regularly as it is on my way home and love it . Why ? The food is great , the Chenin Blanc is always available and the staff are exceptional . The Rose Rooms above are beautiful with its own bar . So much so that I booked The Rose Rooms well over a year ago for my significant birthday . Needless to say I had the most wonderful party , in all honesty I was totally overwhelmed . Nothing was too much trouble , everyone was extremely well looked after , and we partied hard !! Thank you guys for everything , you all know how much it meant , ensuring Lady H’s Big Birthday Bash went swimmingly !! Extra special thanks to Jemma , Chloe and Tom xx See you all soon xx

Bill came with the service charge already added. The customer should make the decision not the service provider. Service was good . Food good. So no problem today. BUT. I WILL think twice whether I go again

Walked down form the NT car park and took the opportunity to have a drink in the rare sunshine. Seating is quite close to the road but always something going on in Alderley. My other half gave the barman the opportunity to chose the Sauvignon and he duly poured her a NZ Marlborough without making any conversation. 350% mark up on the retail price, you live and learn. Enjoyed the drinks and the sights and the brief sunshine. Lovely interior.

Just wanted to take the time to congratulate the team at The Botanist In Alderley Edge. Having never been before decided to give it a try on Friday night and could not have been more impressed. Superb friendly atmosphere, live music and most importantly of all for me an Outstanding door supervision team. We were made to feel warmly welcomed and were taken aback by the courtesy and professionalism of what was clearly an experienced, committed, focused adequate team providing the security for the night to be calmly and safely enjoyed by all.. Huge congratulations and looking forward to our next visit - Highly recommended also to those who may work in the film and television industry.

The description on your website does not ring true to the actual place. Where are the ‘sun soaked terraces’ and two bars?? Yes tables to sit in the sun on the roadside and if you are a party of two and no more than 5” tall you can squeeze in at the back ‘patio’ but not at all what I expected. Food very poor, smallest roast dinner ever. I will avoid this chain of restaurants in future.

Used to be a go to for Sunday Lunch, the last few visits have been really disappointing and the quality of food and ingredients has fallen through the floor over the past 2 years. The place was dead the entire visit. Really seems like the place has gone down hill and such a shame as used to be realy good. Safe to say I don't think I will be back after visiting regularly for aroud 5 years.

Wifes Birthday treat. Staff were pleasant, service was slow they did recognise this by not charging for the wine. Shame as went to Alderley Edge as a day out

Staff very friendly and helpful and it is a nice environment with a few nice looking vegan options. I really enjoyed their vegan burger - especially the crunchy mushrooms! Best of all it is dog friendly so my pooch enjoyed it too 🐶🙂

Attended a birthday celebration meal and the Live singer was terrible. So loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you speaking and the singers voice sounded like a cat being drowned. Very poor as the food was decent but the singer was atrocious and ruined our evening.

I have worked in the village since 1997 and have frequented “The Bot” since it opened . It is always my “go to” place every week on my way home , having worked away for 5 days . The staff are all lovely and discreet , knowing what I’d like to drink and eat . I only have a small appetite , and it’s never a problem that I have a kid’s burger ( with extra cheese !! Thanks Archie and Joe ! ) Yesterday I had a Club Sandwich , which was lovely !! The Hanging Kebabs are amazing ! My personal favourite is the pork belly . I sent some builder guests here on Monday night as our own kitchen was closed and they loved the Hanging Kebabs !! I wouldn’t recommend somewhere I wouldn’t eat myself . Tom , Hannah , Jemma , Chloe , Dan and all the team work really hard to ensure all guests are looked after …… So much so I have decided ( with Jemma and Hannah’s help ) to have my significant birthday party here in the beautiful Rose Rooms , above The Bot , in June 🌹 Thanks guys for always looking after me , also big shout out to Elise for just being amazing !! See you next week !

Great decor, menu was limited but seems like the speciality was the hanging Kebab was prominent on the menu.

I'm always cautious when reading reviews, I like to read between the lines and wonder what inspired a person to be so passionate they wrote a view. Generally this means you get great reviews or terrible reviews and so it can be hard to judge. I always look out for negative ones clumped together... this usually indicates a vendetta, which is an unfair picture to paint. I am inspired to write this review to highlight the excellent service, great cocktails and good food. Exactly what is expected in a Botanist made all the better by the staff and management! I hope my fair judgement helps someone opt to visit and has the great experience we did.

Food, cutlery, serviettes carelessly dispatched on the table (iphones are expensive you know!) a card machine thrust into my face with me having to extract a please before I paid, and oh yes, a 10% service charge automatically added to the bill (we were too beaten to argue the toss by that stage). We were offered 20% off our next visit, but why would we want to go again? Let's face it, there are other places in Alderley Edge.

Been to this restaurant many times but not for a couple of years, have always enjoyed our food and the service was great. We had a birthday celebration on Saturday 09/03/24 and the young lady who served us had a very bad attitude, it was obvious that she didn’t want to be there which made us feel like we were putting her out. I didn’t get her name but if we asked for anything - eg serviettes, cutlery she almost threw them at us. There were eight of us and we all felt that this attitude is unacceptable.

Very polite and friendly staff making you welcome on entry. Service was good and the food excellent. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. A great place to dine.

Great cocktails, ice cold Guinness in the sun watching the other half go by. Hannah was superb and recommended 2 superb cocktails and the fabulous deep fried onion petals. Excellent experience

Was so looking forward to trying this place. We were extremely underwhelmed. Starter (crispy mushrooms) was just deep fried burnt bits. I couldn’t make out a mushroom within the burnt bits. The hanging kebab was ok. Felt like a cafe in that the cutlery and napkins were stacked at the edge of the table. No refill of forks after the starter. Staff were very friendly.

Terrible service. And I mean terrible. The epitome of bad service, our waitress for the evening opened by saying she was going to look after us, but then did anything else but. Plates dumped on end of table like a school canteen, not enough serviettes, cork left in prossecco for us to open, cutlery repeatedly not replaced (had to help ourselves for spoons for pudding from the cutlery station), first drink took 20 minutes "because we're busy" but they weren't, plates taken while others were still eating, the bar was totally unattended at one point. Overpriced drinks too, a large glass of wine £13.75 which is just insane and the bar man served me the most expensive glass without asking what I wanted. The first bottle of red I ordered £25 was 10.5% and was like vinegar, the second montepulciano was much better but cost £36. The food portions were tiny too, and not good value. About five cubes of pork on a hanging kebab is not good enough. They even had the cheek to put on a service charge of £40 after all this. Seemed like a bunch of kids serving all night and no manager present. It showed. Bad service and poor attitude to customer experience. Very disappointing.

Depending on the time of day you go, your experience here will vary. If it's just drinks, fantastic, however, be prepared to wait in line during peak times. They do need to get more staff on their rota. Food can be hit and miss, and before you think this is an unjust review, we have been here over ten times. Different chefs, different times of day, and you have different experiences. Overall the tables can be quite sticky, food can be overcooked, and the service slow.

Popped in on Sunday ... Barman was ok seemed like he hated his life s little bit mind. Had some nice cocktails ... No atmosphere ... Pricing average. Not planning to return. The Chester venue was good back in the day...review pending.

Our first visit to this wounderful tasteful pub.. The decor was outstanding, eye catching, the atmosphere relaxed, service great.. We enjoyed our drinks, whilst watching the world go by..

It's a bit of a shame, because I had high hopes for this outing. My colleagues and I went for dinner on Wednesday evening. Whilst the booking and communication were very easy, when we got there, we found the place to be uncomfortably cold and the server rude, inattentive, and very unhelpful. Whilst the food served was good quality, it was expensive for what it was (I essentially paid about £16 for cheesy chips) and didn't particularly feel like a meal. Potentially a better place to go for drinks, but we won't be going back again for food. Having said this, we did order a round of drinks after dinner, and mine never showed up...

Food portion sizes are ridiculous for the price, hanging halloumi kebab was especially a small portion and warm (not hot)

Great experience, lovely food, excellent service & a very warm welcome, we were there because we had previously had a terrible experience in Knutsford. Where the manger had been exceptionally rude and the food awful in so many ways. HOWEVER Alderley Edge was completely different & more than made up for the previous experience, special thanks to our server & to Leane how arranged it for us.

Have been to the Alderley Edge restaurant previously and it was usually ok. Went with family on 29 Dec which included 11 and 12 year old grand daughters. Ruby, 11, after reading the description on the menu, ordered the crispy chicken burger, requesting that she wanted it plain, with no ranch, no pickles and no jalapeños. It came smothered in a hot red sauce, which isn’t identified on the menu. We asked for it to be changed to a plain burger to which the server agreed. However it took so long to arrive, that the other 5 in our party had all finished their meals. At this stage we refused it and they took it off the bill. The Botanist really needs to have better descriptions of their menu items. The whole episode put an air of disappointment over the whole meal for everyone and spoilt our night out. We won’t be going back.

Lovely staff and good food. We were early so not many people there, hence lower rating for atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

Had to wait 15 minutes to be seated despite booking as no staff were to be seen anywhere in the restaurant. Service very slow. Had to clarify 4 times which glass of Merlot was required. Food was nice, just a shame about the service.

The only one niggling point was the spicy marg that I ordered wasn't spicy... and the presentation left a lot to be desired. Everything else was great!

Sadly our food was disappointing! The crispy mushrooms didn't look appetising & didn't taste great either, my friend left half of them. My daughter & I shared the camembert & loved the presentation but the bread was over baked & difficult to eat. The hidden chutney inside burnt the roof of my mouth. The hanging kebabs were great, as was the sharing board! We had a new waitress serving us, but she was very friendly & attentive. The live music later in the evening made for a lovely atmosphere!

Was disappointed, been to botanist Manchester and it was excellent, food was not good, staff tried but seemed to be struggling. Gravy was awful. Atmosphere was good and the venue is nice. Veggie options had run out on quite a few options. Let's hope it improves a bit.

My friends and I had a decent meal here. The hanging kebab was a big hit, and they also had decent starters. They had run out of the dessert choice I opted for, which was disappointing, but overall, it was a nice meal. The friendliness of the staff and ambience of the restaurant would make me return in the future if I'm in the area.

Can’t fault our visit, it was our 59 Wedding Anniversary, so special trip. The staff were brilliant they went above and beyond, thank you for that. The food lived up to our expectations. 👏👏👏👏

Came here as a family group of 10, to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. Wow.. couldn't of chosen better.. food was amazing and the service received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend the botanist to anyone looking for an amazing place to eat. I'll most definitely be returning. Thank you.

Stumbled across this place after a visit to the edge. Very good food and service.

Food is nice as it always has been cant go wrong with a hanging kebab But the service was shocking No smiles no hellos, had to ask to be served , ask for drinks , ask where our food was and then ask for the bill which took 15 minutes to arrive and then 30 minutes waiting to pay in which we got up and went to bar to pay - week night so not rushed off their feet. Left feeling unhappy as bad service is just nor great

Everything was lovely. Would rather you didn't add 10% service charge to the bill though, 5% is ample these days with the cost of eating out being so expensive. Realise you can be asked to remove it but some people maybe too embarrassed to ask.

Roast beef full of fat Tiny (two very small slices) beef , service appalling, had to get up 4 times to get waitress attention, returned a pudding because it was vile (stay clear from the sundae!!) they took it off bill. Other people walked out prior to ordering because waitress was ignoring them and they realised I was being ignored too and it would be hard work having a meal there .. everything took ages despite it being nearly empty on a Sunday lunchtime…

So disappointed as used to love coming here not sure what’s happened. Ordered my 2 year old son his meal and it didn’t arrive for ages, then mains arrived and were luke warm. Had to send back the “rainbow slaw” as it resembled white sludge not a colour in site. The sweetcorn side was so over cooked it was nearly mush. Yes they didn’t charge for them but it’s not the point, overall a hugely disappointing night out. One good thing was the chicken wings starter.

We performed at a private event last weekend at The Rose Room, just wanted to say Beth was amazing all night! 5* service, Very attentive, helpful and genuinely appears to love her job! We had food in the restaurant downstairs which was fab and the service was very quick. Thanks so much Beth for making our night so smooth, Beth and the lovely team of girls on shift that night too! Not the cheapest had chicken burger was presented with cheap breaded chick deep fried far to long dry and tasteless surely the quality should be better than this

We needed somewhere by the train station and this place fitted the bill perfectly. It is less than two minutes walk from the station and has a lot to offer. Inside it is a classy place and the service was fast and efficient. There is a good atmosphere there, but it was a nice day and we wanted to sit outside. I believe they have a beer garden as well, but we took a table outside literally feet from the local bus stop! from here, you can watch the town go about its business whilst enjoying a couple of cold ones.

Food was fine and service was friendly. It’s a shame about the methods of upselling (or more accurately, misselling). We ordered the kebabs and opted for chips, at which point we were offered a number of different options of chips. There was no mention of any price difference. The bill came and both meals were somewhat more than advertised on the menu. I asked why and without a moments hesitation (very telling) was told, ‘because you chose to upgrade the chips’. We were told, ‘upgrades are mentioned on the menu’. It says this: ‘All served with properly seasoned fries, giant couscous or coconut rice. Ask your server about our upgrade options’ I said that it should be made clear when an upgrade (more expensive item is being offered). The waitress apologised and explained it’s part of her ‘script’ - I reckon this happens a lot. We were offered to speak to the manager, which we declined. It’s pointless, the script is designed to get people to ‘upgrade’ without knowing it. It’s a bad tactic and spoiled a good night.

Pedí unos calamares de entrada, estaban ricos. También pedí un kebab para compartir, la carne estaba sabrosa pero las porciones eran muy reducidas. Los camarones sabían un poco viejos. Cómo postre pedí una galleta con helado y pedazos de caramelo. No me gustó, los ingredientes se sienten muy corrientes. El servicio fue muy amable y el bingo estuvo divertido. Sólo regresaría para tomar algo pero no para cenar.
