Food average, service rather poor as had to ask for drinks 3 times before they came . Value average. Had alot better for alot less.

Visited in July with son who is in a wheelchair and lift out of order. Returned again August 12 and lift still out of order. Not a very accessible place and should be avoided

The food was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t fault it at all! It really made our night special! Service was amazing and so quick! Annie was brilliant the whole night so thank you. There was also live music which was lovely.

Great food (had the hanging chicken kebab) as well as some gins. Gin selection was excellent and the staff were lovely (particularly the young lady who has a zoology degree as we got chatting a lot) Staff were particularly helpful when one of our party was stuck in traffic so we are able to hold some food for her so it came out on her arrival. Also, good atmosphere and clean toilets.

Zero value for money, slow service, dirty glasses

We ve dined in a few of these botanists restaurants and we love their concept and quailty..but this time the whole experience was spoiled.. our food went cold almost immediatley and i could nt eat my fries this was probably due to being seated in the conservatory bit which was cold and draughty we did complain and the waitress was apologetic saying it was very busy with no other available seating other people complained too and they put heaters on but it was to late for our food and we did nt have a heater over our table anyway so it was very disappointing probably won t eat there again

Lovely little bar with a nice balcony area, just a bit expensive.

The restaurant was beautiful. The food amazing. The staff brilliant! Only thing wrong was that the lift was out of order and I struggle with stairs! Particularly the spiral type. I hope if I come again the lift will be working. I’ll check next time before I book.

Amazing place with tasty food! We found this place last weekend when we were looking for a place to have a good lunch. Interior is really beautiful with a lot of different plants. Kebabs and botanist burger are super tasty. The waiter (with shirt blond hair, unfortuntely, I don't know his name) was very nice and helpful. Will definitely come back my next time in Manchester :)

Used to be one of my go-to for great food, however 90% of the menu now states a peanut warning. Botanist should take more care where they source their food from to offer those with allergies more choice. Unfortunately I won't be eating here again.

The restaurant location, interior decor, ambience and general vibe was great. Staff were helpful but you had to seek them out, no one came to you freely (perhaps it was a tad bit busy, but that shouldn’t be an excuse really). Anyway, the food was good but it wasn’t brilliant - the food did not match the venues appearance or vibe. Katsu curry whilst it tasted fine, it wasn’t something that I would write home about, and the dish could’ve been slightly warmer in temperature. Dessert wasn’t any better; I opted for a classic (Cookie Dough with Ice Cream) and it had this ‘emptiness’ taste about it, the best analogy I can give is like drinking a Coca-Cola vs Sugar Free Coca-Cola, they don’t taste the same and the sugar free has an “emptiness” taste about it. Having said that, they were presented nicely.

We had booked to eat here in December 2024 as we have tickets for the theatre. I have just received a email cancelling our booking. I rang to ask why and have been told they have now hired the whole venue out and it will make them loads of money. At the very least a telephone call rather than an email would have been nice. This is very poor customer care. Update. I have now received an email from the Manager with an apology and a satisfactory offer. We will try and book another time to visit. Thanks Jack for getting back.

Great food and lovely friendly staff

I've been here for drinks, never eaten, but I had been working for 10 hours solid, and this was I thought best of the bunch in media city as there all pretty naff the only thing on menu that seemed OK was a burger it came bun was freezing and filling was awful I had 1 and a half pints of beer bill 30 pound plus shocking

Nice restaurant and the bar food was great 👍🏼 there was a menu and having some opitons for vegan 🌱 and vegetarian meals. You may choose to sit on the bench outside and enjoy the sunshine ☀️

Would be a 5 but they changed the menu, staff were great but took my favourite off the menu .

Blown away. It's been a while to write an excellent review for a restaurant in Greater Manchester. Food was excellent, steak and hanging kebabs. Desserts, the sharing cookie dough, was amazing. Cocktails were also very good. Very impressed with the "botanist" cocktail. Couple of negatives, steak didn't come with the onion rings. The pitta bread was rock hard and the kids menu forgot the cucumber dips. However, the issue was dealt with straight away and they came through quickly. Usually I wouldn't give a 5 star because of those issues, but the food and drink and the way it was dealt with was fantastic.

Lovely venue, food and drinks were delicious, service was great, and live music was perfect. Overall, 10/10. Would definitely recommend checking it out!!

Good looking place with interesting design. Good food.

The food, service and atmosphere in the restaurant were very good. The hanging kebabs were excellent! Unfortunately, our visit was spoiled by a couple who were in the middle of a video call on their mobile phone when they arrived. They then continued their call at their table, with the phone at full volume while they both shouted at it. You could hear them over the music being played in the restaurant. This went on for at least 15 minutes. We had to move to another table to try to get away from their noise. I realise the restaurant is not responsible for the appalling manners of a couple of selfish half-wits, but the manager should have explained to them that their behaviour was not acceptable and made them end their call. Failing to deal with this must have spoilt the visits of quite a few people. Unfortunately more and more people do not know how to behave in public nowadays, so management of restaurants need to be prepared to deal with people like this, who spoil it for others.

Great location for Media City Salford and The Lowery Centre. Service was great , staff always available for drinks etc. Disappointed with the quality of the food. Frozen over cooked fish and chips and band lukewarm Katsu curry.

Been here a few times and always enjoy their hanging kebabs. Also they have Camden pale ale, albeit in a bottle and not on draught. Their own pale ale is a decent substitute on draught.

Whilst the ambience is good we were very disappointed with our food.

Came last night for my dads 70th, great atmosphere, staff are lovely. The food was good, even though they got my main course wrong, it was dealt with very quickly and it was knocked off the bill as I decided not to wait for another one because everyone else was already eating theirs and I didn't want to eat on my own, the starters were quite big anyway so I wasn't starving 🤣. Will definitely come back as we really enjoyed it 😊

Service, food and overall experience was excellent.

Went last night firstly we requested a table not in the bar area which was booked in January and they put us near bar so was asked to move then we ordered Korean chicken with noodles there was 3 bits of cold chicken and no noodles or a strip very very poor we then ordered the kebab which was nice and hot. Manager came over to apologise we then got our bill and they put service charge on. We were in a rush by then and didn't query but no drink or nothing was offered but we still paid the service charge which we shouldn't have. We won't be going again which is a shame as food always been lovely here.

First visit food was great and gave 5 stars, enjoyed it so much we returned on 06/04/24. Very disappointing! Friend booked a table online requesting table away from bar, she sat us right near the bar! We moved ordered drinks and two Chicken korean bang bang noodle salads. It was three tiny dried pieces chicken ,couldn't find the noodles, broccoli cold, disgusting for £14.95! Sent it back re-ordered hanging kebabs which were ok. Manager came over to apologise. We thought we may have been offered a drink on the house for inconvenience but nothing. As we were on the clock to be somewhere paid the bill in a hurry , checked later on to see they had included a service charge! Really disappointed won't be returning we'll go to wagamamas next time we visit the lowry.

Had lunch here on Easter Monday, before travelling back to Bath. Food was delicious and the staff service was excellent.

Went for a meal here before a show. Great choice of food and good prices. The restaurant itself has fantastic decor and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the wait wasn't long at all. Great I side and outside areas and would imagine a summer evening would be perfect there.

Been here a few times and always had an amazing meal and experience here at botanist. This time after driving for 2 house and brining my partner we had a very disappointing experience and meal. there was 4 of us, we had the Camembert for starter to share it took 30 minutes and was rock solid when it arrived, place wasn’t busy so we complained, then the mains came, 1 sharing kebabs and 2 kebabs. all our chips where under cooked and meet was luke warm. Feel so disappointed after really looking for to a night out in media city with my partner. Would rather have gone to Wagamama next door!!!

This could be one of the worst meals I've had in a very long time. Didn't think there were so many ways to mess up two meals, both Sunday lunches one pot roast lamb very dry and one slow cooked belly pork that was undercooked, carrots advertised as honey glazed were gritty, dry and shrivelled, cold and unglazed, roast spuds were barely warm and soggy, the green veg was both overcooked and undercooked. Was going to have dessert but decided that was probably a silly idea and left. Not a good experience so very disappointing.

Nice food good vegan options and very friendly staff.

We had been to The Coronation Street Tour and eaten out at The Harvester. We wanted to finish our day with a cocktail. We stumbled upon The Botanist. Although busy, the staff let us sit in the conservatory area. The cocktails were not too expensive and we're tasty. Finished our day off at Media City perfectly. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Great vibes at the bingo! Staff really made you feel welcome, food was nice and great value for the portion size & the venue was gorgeous!

Called the restaurant at about 6:50pm for my 7pm reservation for my daughter's 16th Birthday. Told them I was running about 10 mins late and they were accommodating. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Food hit the spot and my Berry colada was FIRE! Thank you

The breaded mushrooms were very nice but didn’t feel the Sunday roast was that good.

My partner booked us in for a surprise meal for Valentines day. It was a complete disaster. Firstly there was an overpowering smell of cooking oil which leads me to think the oil in the kitchen isn't being changed as often as it should be! I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken( a dish I love and have eaten many times in different restaurants)which consisted of 5 very small very hard pieces of chicken which was nearly all batter. It was unedible. I will acknowledge it was returned and we were not charged for it. My partner ordered the Hanging Kebab which had to be sent back as it was cold. Sadly what was meant to be a lovely surprise was completely ruined. The young lady who served us was very pleasant attentive and apologetic. Added note. It appears the manager sends a generic reply to your review asking for further details and fails to acknowledge this. Disappointing to say the least !

Worst meal I’ve ever had there! We are regulars and visit often, this time our chicken wasn’t cooked, but was served in batter so we ate some as we have ordered this before not thinking. When my partner checked later on, he confirmed it wasn’t cooked properly. Since Saturday we have been paying for it, as we have both been unwell with what we can only describe food poisoning. Will never visit this specific restaurant again

I enjoyed the nice ambiance at this place, but my experience with the hanging chicken was subpar. It didn't look fresh, and the lack of juiciness left much to be desired. Overall, a mixed dining experience.

Nice staff and great environment

Ok, so I will give it 5 stars as the food quality, the staff and the atmosphere are absolutely all worth five stars. I have been here a number of times and last visited to celebrate my birthday on Sunday 11 the Feb 2024. We were there for a 2pm booking, and when ordering, we were told they were out of chicken, pigs in blankets, and cauliflower cheese. There was also no chicken for the childrens meals. To be fair, the staff did conjure up some pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese, and the children had chicken nuggets with their sunday dinner. I found it a little strange that at 1400hrs on a Sunday afternoon, the place ran out of the key components for a Sunday dinner? What we did get was really lovely tbh. The staff are always exceptional, and the atmosphere is always buzzing. The next time I book for a Sunday dinner, I will pre-order, perhaps 😋.

A chance visit to Botanist Media City Salford (after walking out of nearby Wagamama after discovering they had run out of pre-made up sachets of 'cocktails') and it was excellent 9/10 for ambience 9/10 staff performance 9/10 food choice and quality 9/10 value for money ...nobody gets 10/10 as theres always room for improvement!

The decor is nice, if a tad dusty. Staff were pleasant, however the food was awful. It was cold and not that fresh, hardly any of it and we got charged over £100 for two of us. It’s a shame as I thought it was goi g to be nice but no chance of going again or recommending to anyone.

First time coming to this one as we used to go to the Didsbury location. Walking through the quays in the evening is so stunning and I bet sitting outside on the balcony in the summer would be amazing. I came for my birthday meal and without even saying anything they brought this lovely board out with desserts 🧡 Drinks, as always, were fabulous!

Ordered a non alcoholic drink as was heavily pregnant, but was served one with alcohol included. Didn’t realise until drinking a second one which tasted completely different. Management confirmed it was alcoholic, but didn’t care further than that. Fobbed me off to legal who never once responded. Disgusted.

Great atmosphere and attentive staff

We had festive hanging kebabs and the ham pieces and pigs in blankets were raw and were sent back. We asked for dessert menu at 10.15 and were told kitchen was closed and only ice cream was available. If we had been told that the kitchen was closing early then we could have ordered earlier.

Very disappointing experience. We booked a table for the NYE bash at 10pm. There was no indication on the website that food wouldn't be served at that time and there was not other way to book a table for dinner in the evening apart from selecting one from the NYE bash option. Also, at the time of booking, I emailed the team at MediaCity and asked if there was a Christmas Eve menu this year. I was not informed then that we wouldn’t be able to have food at that time, instead I was referred to the food menu website. On New Year’s Eve we arrived at 9.45 and were told to wait until 10pm. At 10pm one of the team leaders sat us on the table and brought us the welcome cocktail but not food menu what I thought it was really strange considering the time and assuming the kitchen would be closing soon as we had booked at the last time available. When I asked a waitress for the menu then I was told the kitchen had closed at 10 and they were not serving any food. We explained we had booked for dinner and we were shocked we wouldn’t be able to have it and explained the booking process and emails exchanged with team members. After about 10 minutes waiting, while they were looking at the booking details, a different team member came and told us they could refund the booking money but the kitchen was closed and it was not possible to serve any food, not even a cold option. We were very upset as it totally ruined our NYEs night, especially to our 10 years old daughter. As we were leaving, we walked next to the team member who initially had sat us on the table and she didn’t even acknowledge us which I thought was very rude and made us feel even more uncomfortable. Once of the worst experiences I ever had in a restaurant.

I visited The Botanist with my husband and dog for their NYE party and we all had the best time ever. The live music was absolutely amazing! The staff were all incredibly, they were so friendly and made us all feel so welcome. The service was also really quick which was so amazing especially given how busy staff were. Nothing was too much for the staff. Thank you to all the team, you made our NYE a fantastic one!

Had a fabulous NYE party here. Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic live music and the service all night was second to none. A great venue. We will certainly be back.

I booked a table here a few months ago because I really wanted to try the new festive menu, came here with my two children on Christmas Eve and we were taken to our table quickly. First drinks orders were taken within a few minutes of us arriving which was great and our meals came pretty fast. But after that it was a huge disappointment:( The hanging kebab was very dry, I couldn’t even chew one of the meats on it and the sausages looked questionable I wasn’t sure if they were fully cooked but I ate them because I was starving after a long day at work haha, ultimately it was just like a Sunday roast I’d make at home but with hardly any flavour if it wasn’t for the gravy.. nothing special just few veg, roast potatoes and meat.. after we’d finished we waited about 20 minutes the restaurant had gone more quiet by then as the big tables had left and eventually I had to get up and go ask a waitress if we could have our desserts. We then waited another 30 minutes or so to get them I even questioned wether they had put desserts away at this point because it really wasn’t busy and they had enough staff standing around talking, but again nobody bothered to check on us once.. it’s when I got up and asked someone else again after so long that they finally turned up after a further 10 min wait. Desserts were delicious I can’t lie I wish we’d just gone for desserts.

First time visit here. We came on the Sunday for drinks during the afternoon, and returned in the evening for drinks and nibbles. They have a great selection of vegan bites which are absolutely yummy. In the early evening there was a little live music. It had a great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and helpful. We even returned on the Monday because we were still in the area. We will definitely be back when we are the area again 🙏💚🙏

My food was amazing and our waiter was extremely kind and took care of everything perfectly

After an afternoon at the theatre this was a lovely meal my partner loves his kebab and my fish was really lovely and way it was presented was great. Staff were lovely to.

A lovely restaurant and bat with nice food. We went on a busy pre Christmas week night and had a lovely time. The food was nice and there was a reasonable choice for vegans. The cocktails were lovely and there was a good selection of beers, wine and spirits. The service was very friendly although we were left a while after eating as It was so busy. Overall we really enjoyed it and plan to re visit so I would recommend it.

Very pleasant experience when organizing a social gathering there. The staff responded swiftly and were very helpful. The atmosphere was very festive – even had a chance to listen to live music. Also, a wide variety of drinks.

We had our works Christmas Party in mid November, we had a party of 18 people, everyone enjoyed the food, it was brought out together, the service was amazing, they had live music which was also fantastic, thank you to all the hard working staff.

Had a great time, the staff are lovely, we played botanist bingo and we went back for the quiz night! We all had a great time and will definitely be back, they also have a book swap!
