Food was delicious. Recommend the croquettes and grilled chicken!! Staff were lovely and polite and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed.

My go-to pulpo ala gallega was not at all disappointing and the rabbit was a very enjoyable learning curve.

A lovely spot, the building is stunning and decorated perfectly to compliment its external grandure. When you get inside, the playlist of Indie favourites creates a casual and relaxing atmosphere as well as the very friendly staff. The food is banging, chicken thighs and pork dishes being a real highlight. Everything we had was tasty, the Negroni was a treat and the desserts were just the ticket. I had a chocolate mousse with honey comb, just perfect to finish off our meal. We shared six dishes and quite frankly could have kept going it was that nice. Thank you very much.

Brilliant establishment. A full tapas menu and the food is delicious I have only ever gone with one other person, so I’d imagine it’s even better with a group (and probably cheaper). A short review for somewhere that’s so good but if you fancy Tapas you need to give this place a go! The wine is good, the service is good, the food is fantastic. It is a genuinely authentic tapas experience in a nicely decorated restaurant. It’s better than tapas I’ve had in fully authentic Spain or Catalonia, depending on your preference (let’s not get into that). It is pricey but it’s worth the money and you will leave genuinely pleased and satisfied with your choice of picking Porta as your evening Tapas! I’ve been a few times now and always enjoyed it. We have been here several times and we are never ever disappointed. The food, staff, service, drinks, location… everything is excellent. It’s absolutely our local go to restaurant.

I’ve just got home from a double date at Porta. What an incredible evening! The manager was so lovely from the beginning making sure we were served at the bar whilst we waited for a better table. We were then served by Charlotte (if I remember the name correctly) who was so lovely and funny. Every single dish was incredible, the deep fried olives should be a permanent dish. Our favourites, except from all of it, was the Padron peppers, pork, squid and the omelette. Will be visiting again and again.

I visited Porta for the first time with my wife on Saturday evening. the staff were really nice and the food was delicious . Great choice I thought. When it came to pay for the meal the trouble began. i put cash on the table only to be told by the waitress that cash was not acceptable but as this was my only option as I had no card or other means of payment she got the manager over. People in the restaurant were all looking at us and I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong, The manager said he would take a part payment in cash but he needed a card to ensure the payment was exact as he would not give me change of the cash I had on the table and this resulted in my wife paying some money on her card. At no time was I told that cash was not an option but if I had been told I would have left without eating and gone somewhere where they are glad of any payment. Do not use this restaurant ,terrible management.

Great tapas, been coming in here for a few years and enjoy it every time, always a good experience. Food is amazing, especially the squid and prawns. Staff are really nice, so good to have this great place on our doorstep 😁

Wine was terrible, tasted as if it was left open for a while before serving, and wasn’t served in a wine glass. People vaping so was not an enjoyable environment to eat.

Been to a few tapas bars and most of the dishes were familiar but prepared with care and tasted just a little bit better than we were expecting.

Such a gorgeous authentic tapas place! Food was stunning, the sangria is a must and the olives are to die for! Staff were all super lovely & service was 10/10! Can’t wait to come back ☺️

Good spot for your popular Spanish cuisine. The service here is great with a friendly staff. It had a sit-out, which is good for nice and sunny weather. It's not a lot of room inside, I guess the sit-out helps in that aspect. It's not cheap, especially if you're looking to get belly-full. But the dishes are delsih! I personally enjoyed the patatas bravas, wild Atlantic prawn, and the sangria wine(both white and red). Good spot for a second date upwards!

Took my partner here for their birthday and it did not disappoint. Great tapas with the usual reccomendation of 3/4 dishes per person. This was a great amount of food and all delicious, along with great Sangria. Would recommend.

Completely changed the vibe of the area when they opened and although loads more places have opened up around them they're still the best. Incredible food and a slightly different menu to what you find elsewhere. Specials are always great. Staff lovely too. Set on Bexley Square which is a lovely spot to sit out on a sunny day. Can't beat it. Great for gluten free too!

Nice spot to sit outside, we came for a midweek lunch and it was pretty quiet. The staff were attentive and friendly and everything came out quickly. For 2 we got scratchings, charcuterie, cheese, croquetas, fried squid, stewed rabbit and patatas bravas, then also caved and got dessert. This was massive overkill! If I were to go back, I would not get the pork scratchings, which were a bit bland, and the patatas bravas which were not very crisp and also a bit bland. Everything else was lovely however, especially the selection of meats, the rabbit and the tocino de cielo (though a half portion would be more than enough!). On balance, though very enjoyable, I found this quite overpriced coming in at £40/pp. I'm surprised there's no midweek lunch deal, and think that would be a hit.

Tapas done right! Great food, drinks and service. Hidden gem on the edge of the city centre. Worth a visit!

Excellent food. Excellent vibes. Excellent service. We tried some 10 dishes, my favourites: 1) the quince and cheese dish. Just phenomenal 2) Padron peppers were solid 3) Loved the tomato salad The meat dishes were really good too. My favourite was the Iberico slices (pink), followed by the Chorizo and then the chicken. That said though, these are the priciest options so could drop them if you’re interested in trying more food. The patatas bravas were okay. My least favourite was the confit peppers.

Great unfussy meal here. Service very keen & friendly, our server was lovely. Ordered a selection of smaller dishes which arrived quickly & straightforwardly. All very tasty. Their no bookings policy worked great for us on Saturday night for a walk up Brilliantly positioned across from the New Oxford pub too.

We had a disappointing visit despite its high ratings and reviews here. Prawns were a little mushy and not fresh. The seared pork was slightly raw; I had some trouble cutting through it. We also ordered other dishes but none stood out; everything was very salty and not particularly tasty. There are some good tapas places around but unfortunately Porta is not one of them.

Absolutely fantastic..great food, great service. What more can you ask for. We walked in and were given a table immediately at 730pm on a Saturday night. Really busy, but food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend.

My friends and I visited this lovely tapas restaurant over the weekend and we had an amazing experience. The food is very tasty, with our personal favourite being the octopus which was cooked to perfection, the staff are very friendly and professional, the service is very quick even when busy and the atmosphere is very cosy. It’s slightly hidden away in an area that’s a short walk from the city centre and you can’t book in advance so I’d advise going earlier to get a spot! Definitely one I’ll the best tapas I’ve had in Manchester and I will be coming back!

Very nice atmosphere and service. However, the food was a bit disappointing, padrón peppers were slightly undercooked, and the “sangria” was definitely overpriced for what you get. I enjoyed the king prawns though.

Excellent food, great service from smiling waiter. My husband is hard of hearing and we requested to move away from the speaker. There wasn't another available table for four but the waiter had no hesitation in turning the music down instead, very thoughtful.

Pros Good environment and location. Cons Service very poor. Service vs cost (service included) is not in line whatsoever. Wine glass 125m is not even a small glass and has got the price of a 175ml. Carafe is now the price of a bottle. Food really basic. I ordered 6 tapas. It is really nonesense to highlight the dishes. In addition to that, the Jamon Iberico is not Jamon Iberico. The presentation was as if you were having cheap prosciutto. Very very disappointing. I’d rather invite my guests to my living. No idea what the other posts are talking about.

Went here as a walk in and would say it’s probably the best tapas restaurant in Salford/manchester. It’s in a slightly hidden away area unlike the ones in the city centre but the interior is nice and warming, service is also exceptional. The winning dish out of the ones we ordered was the king prawns which were fresh and huge!! The other tapas we ordered were also great, slightly on the dearer side but so are most tapas restaurants nowadays. Also appreciate the walk ins only so it’s not mass pre booked several days in advance. Would go again!

The staff were all exceptional, had great recommendations and conversation. We both felt very welcomed and the team alone are a good enough reason to return! The food was sensational, authentic, and reasonably priced. Can’t wait till next time!

Where do I start - from entering the gorgeous restaurant in a lovely setting, a 10 minute walk from Manchester City Centre - it was a very quaint place with the atmosphere of actually being in a Spanish tapas in Spain, only to be in Salford on Chapel Street. A beautiful dining experience with a fantastic array of fine wines and variety of drinks. Now here where it gets better - the menu, a fantastic selection of tapas. The chef’s and waiters were so kind and patient, giving an excellent service, even on a busy raining Good Friday. The food was delicious and excellent. Everything we ordered was exquisite - we couldn’t find fault with a single thing we experienced. We had tortillas, tender-stem broccoli, padron peppers, tomatoe salad, chicken thighs, croquettes, gambas and patatas bravas. All cooked to perfection! This was definitely a 5 star experience! A gorgeous restaurant - Would definitely recommend Porta and now a firm favourite of ours 👍

The best tapas in Manchester at very reasonable prices. Possibly the best restaurant in Salford. Go to the Kings Arms or New Oxford for a pint beforehand.

Came here to eat solo. The staff were brilliant, attentive but not over bearing. Loved the open kitchen, especially when sat close. Worth coming for the tortilla alone. Better than I had in Madrid! Definitely be coming back again.

It was absolutely perfect. This place has been going a while now but every part of my first ever visit here was fantastic. Finally made it. Here to celebrate me and my partner’s anniversary, they didn’t disappoint. The food, particularly the crab croquetas, the prawns and the chorizo and lentil stew were just beautiful. The wine, lovely. The staff, AMAZING - so attentive, polite, friendly and really made a difference having that environment feel so positive. Will definitely be coming back.

Just leaving on Christmas Eve after the most amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. As a family of 9 we had a wide range of tapas and just discussing which was our favourite but struggling to decide collectively. All delicious 😋 the staff are absolutely amazing. We had a small area upstairs booked and it was beautiful. Service was fantastic. I would've preferred a better selection of food but I think ours may have been preselected. The worst thing for me was the stairs down to the toilet... not to be done in heels or if tipsy!

I went there for a colleagues' night out and what an experience it turned out to be. Tasty food and well presented. I can't praise the waiter enough though. He was very knowledgeable about the foods and even knew the answer to the origin of the coffee beans. I am a picky eater and was delighted to see that someone even knowing an answer to this question. Drove 2 hours to get to Porta for 8pm on Sunday to find it dark and closed! Has it closed down?

Porta tapas never fails to amaze me! Their pardon peppers, croquettes and patatas bravas can’t be faulted, absolutely delicious. Best tapas in town, undoubtedly. Feels like I am in Barcelona.

Food was excellent, most of the servers were lovely and welcoming. One server let them down, a young woman who was instantly cold and rude, changing the tone of the entire evening and ruining an otherwise great experience. We very politely let her know they sent the wrong drink over and she instantly started lecturing us and telling us we ordered the wrong thing (we hadn’t). We then saw her eyeing us for the rest of our time there, talking and pointing our way. Any time she came over she was just making everyone at the table feel uncomfortable.

Very nice place, very nice staff, food really nice, however one major frustration was, we had to make multiple compromises during our visit, as more than 3 of the most popular tapas dishes they didn't have! You would have thought they would make sure that they had plenty of the popular dishes, it wasn't busy at all when we visited, and the lack of the very tapas dishes we went for, spoilt our experience some what.

A hidden gem. Excellent food with an open kitchen allows you to see the whole process. Excellent staff with very good service.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and will go many more, it's a lovely cosy vibe with good food and decent prices. My recent visit motivated me to make a review, myself and a close friend went for a dinner date and Izzy (hope the spelling is right) was our server, she was so kind and lovely, we genuinely had such a wonderful and felt so at home. Your staff are awesome, but particularly Izzy is an asset to the team you have. Thank you for the multiple good evenings, and many more to come.

Absolutely fabulous. Every dish was delicious. Wonderful tapas bar. We highly recommend. Just be hungry when you get here, there are soooo many yummy things on the menu.

We have a favourite Tapas restaurant in the NQ so this was a risk, got to say the food was delicious! Perhaps lacking a little in ambience, but then it was lunch on a Thursday. The only negative was the music, too loud and not fitting for the setting. Will try again though, probably at weekend next time

I recently dined at Porta and had a really good experience. We ordered plenty for two but all the food arrived promptly, which was a pleasant surprise. The efficient and polite service added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a quick and satisfying dining experience.

I like the fact that they have a terrace outside on the square. The interior is pretty interesting and I can say that the food was of a good quality, I tried many tapas in Spain and this is there on the top with them. The only critic is for the most expensive item on the menu which was some pork meat which was extremely chewy and way too rare even if it was stated that it will be served pink, but that was not what I was expecting.

Lovely tapas spot, good value for the quality of the food. Open plan kitchen so you can see them make your dishes and they come as and when they're ready. Really delicious and service was great.

Stunning meal, Great atmosphere and fantastic service

The food and service was fantastic, but the portions were very small for the price.

I’ve driven past here many times and each time thought I’d like to try it; this weekend I finally did and it not disappoint. It’s not very big inside, but this only helps create more of intimate atmosphere. We were sat upstairs, right next to the balcony and had a great view of the rest of the restaurant downstairs. Service was very attentive and very quick. The white sangria was beautiful and the food was delicious. I tried rabbit for the first time, as it was the special that week, but it wasn’t for me. The chickpea and lentil stew was my favourite dish that we ordered. For a small jug of sangria, 6 tapas, 2 desserts and 2 cocktails it cost us £84, which I think was very good value.

This is a special place. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, and very knowledgeable about the food. All the dishes I had were delicious, made with top quality fresh ingredients. I was on a city break and Porta was very close to my hotel. If I lived nearby I'd be a regular visitor!

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. We had five tapas including a special, and it still only came to £25 a head including drinks. The special was something I'd never seen before: churros with blue cheese, honey and spicy mince. Amazing.

Best Tapas in Manchester/Salford

Finally got to try Porta yesterday and it did not disappoint 5*s all round. The food and service is top notch, we didn't book so think we were very lucky to get a table, as the place filled up quickly despite it being only 12pm on a Sunday! Chicken thighs are out of this world.

This is one of Salford/Manchester's hidden gems, and the best tapas I've had up North. Everyone front of house was so nice, the waiter recommended the special, as he said he's eaten it every day himself for the past five days. So we ordered it and it was divine. Intact all the recommendations from the servers were spot on. The food was an amazing explosion of texture and flavour. It's on par with a Michelin star restaurant.
