Amazing Thursday evening catch up with a friend from down south I've not seen in years. We went for the sharing steak accompanied by a whole camembert, roasted toms, roasties, bacon bits and a lovely Argentinian Malbec. All cooked to perfection. The combination of flavours (with the wine!) was sensational. My southern pal couldn't believe the price of the sharing plate. Amazing value. Can't wait until our next visit!

Food was nice, service was deathly slow. We went for the two course set menu.... table was booked for 7.30pm and we didn't get our puddings til 9.30pm. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen!

Though the food took 40 minutes to be served (due to the restaurant being very busy) the food was fantastic, the fish was cooked to perfection definitely one of the best fish I have ever tasted. The triple cooked chips were also delicious. Compliments to the chef and kitchen staff.

A lovely meal, had the 2 course set menu. Food was delicious. Service was top quality, a new lad was training, his service was very professional.

Our third visit - this time I brought my parents too for Sunday Lunch. Among the four of us we had the roast beef, pork belly, chicken supreme and the vegetarian butternut squash options. Everyone had a lovely time and every bite was enjoyed. Really friendly staff and the restaurant decor is very nicely done.

Excellent roast dinner, starter of pork belly and scallop was delicious and the roast was fantastic, loads of veg, meat cooked perfectly. Couldnt fault it. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. The only tiny improvement could have been a shorter wait between the starter and main. Will definitely visit again for a sunday roast and glass of red.

Left after a mediocre meal and walked through the back lane behind to see a rat run through the kitchen door!

5pm sitting food not as good as usual,, roast potatoes not crispy on outsides, beef could have been hotter, Yorkshire puddings tasteless Service superb as usual

Can't rate the food as didn't make it past the front door, claimed they were full, however only 2 tables occupied by 5 people in the entire place. Suspect they didn't want a family with a child interrupting their peace.

Lovely setting and food was very tasty and plentiful. The atmosphere was excellent. Busy but still great service and food and drinks arrived without delay.

First time visit for Restaurant week had set menu £20 for starter and main meal, both were delicious. Staff were friendly and couldnt fault the service wont be driving next time look forward to sampling the wine and cocktails.

Food was good apart from the roast potatoes being inedible and my beef being tough. Service was great at first but then waited over 40 minutes for our main meal and it wasn’t very busy. The main girl serving us was lovely and attentive always making sure we were ok for drinks. Just a shame about the wait for food.

Staff are very friendly however took a while for a drink order to be taken. Had a beef wellington, however was not a Wellington instead a beef pastie which was nice but lacked a bit of flavour. The potato was bland and dry. Gravy was very watery and again lacked flavour. Overall great place for Instagram pictures but not food.

An afternoon lunch for my partners birthday we were expecting it to be quite quiet. However we were very surprised to see all tables full, and people having to be turned away disappointed .

Came here for the restaurant week. Meal was lovely and staff very attentive.

Lovely family Sunday lunch for 11 of us! Food and service excellent.

This time our visit was for the Eat to the Beat night. What a great idea and a great night. BBQ was outside, food was delicious with a great choice. Burger, cod in bacon, lamb kofta, chicken, prawns and chorizo skewers, lovely chunky chips and a range of side dishes and sauces & hummus. Eat what you would like, all staff are so friendly. It was a privilege to meet all of the kitchen staff too, who equally smile as much as the front of house staff. The live duo sang a good mix of songs very well which gave the restaurant a lively ambience. I'm keeping my eye out to see what you've got coming up next. Unfortunately we can't make your end of August one but I'd definitely recommend it to those who can.

The service was superb - relaxed yet attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend the pork belly bites, Comet Burger, Chicken Supreme, and sticky toffee pudding.

Went for my birthday with family and it was amazing. The food was fantastic. I had the leg of lamb and it was melt in the mouth perfect. I had peach melba cheesecake which was delicious. The staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be going back soon.

Visited with the in-laws on Saturday night. Upon arrival we were shown to the table and brought water instantly. The waitress then asked if we wanted the air con turned down / off. The waitress then presented the menus and the special board. I went for the scotch egg as did my brother in law and then the lemon sole, mussel & prawn pasta. He had the burger.My wife and sister in law had the goats cheese croquettes followed by the lamb. All washed down with some excellent bottles of Sauvignon blanc. The restaurant was busy but the service was attentive and prompt. The food was excellent, none of us could find any fault, we will definitely return.

Four of us went here yesterday. We were all very impressed, food, staff and venue were all perfect. We all had fish and hand cooked chips which were amazing... Can't wait to go back again. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

Food was absolutely stunning! I got a seafood pasta special and the muscles and prawns were so fresh and delicious- pasta sauce was genuinely unreal. Lovely atmosphere and decor, so so impressed and I will defo be returning!!

Been meaning to try The Bonny Comet for a while now, finally got around to it and so so glad I did! Couldn’t decide what we wanted from the amazing selection of dishes so opted for a sandwich each and the kitchen offered to half them for us, both were amazing! The smiling staff were so welcoming and we ended up staying for an unintentional cocktail, which was beautiful! So thanks for a lovely afternoon, will be back soon!

Lovely restaurant at the end of the street.

Me and my partner were out enjoying the sun today, while we were looking around at a few places to eat this place really stood out as the host was in and out of the building giving proper care and attention to each customer. Upon arrival we were 10 minutes before lunch service had began but they took our orders and got us our drinks. The inside atmosphere is by no other term, gorgeous, the host was in the process of changing out the fresh flowers on each table and the place was spotless, warm and cosy. Just as service began the food arrived, me and my partner ordered the ham hock starter and the pan seared fish and it was all fresh, well presented and absolutely delicious. At all stages of our visit staff provided a warm, caring and well put together service. As an establishment they should be proud for how they've excelled. We wouldn't ask a thing be changed.

Lovely place in the heart of Low Fell. We attended for a wine tasting evening but had cocktails and a light bite before hand - all very enjoyable! Lovely staff, decor and ambience 5*

We ate early evening and the restaurant was just under half full. The seating is good and we were greeted on arrival. The staff were attentive and brought water and asked us if we wanted a drink. We ordered both the cheeseboard and bread selection as Starters. Both were disappointing - the cheeseboard had a 3 cheese offering and it was the usual suspects: cheddar, Brie and blue cheese. They were tasty, but the portions were small. In contrast, there were plenty of crackers - but these were those awful hard, snappy Peter’s Yard style type. They were so hard you were in danger of chipping a tooth. The bread selection - such as it was - was generous, but of only 2 styles of the same bread -with herbs, or without herbs. The pots of oil and balsamic were tiny in comparison. Both mains were good - Coley with crushed peas and chips. The belly pork was fatty - but that’s belly pork for you IMO. The worst part was the truly awful Old Fashioned. I am very familiar with the recipe using black walnut bitters and maple syrup and have had it at other venues, and at home. It requires a measured hand to get the amount of bitters (2 or 3 dashes) correct to balance the drink. Sadly, this skill is lost on whomever made mine; it was so bitter it was undrinkable. And after 2 sips, I abandoned it. Shame on me for not sending it back, but then again, no one asked me how my drink was after taking away the almost full glass. Overall? It’s OK. Not particularly special; just OK and the food is fine. I would go back if I wanted a nice meal locally. But I wouldn’t go here for a special occasion, because there is nothing I tasted that lifted it to a level which warranted it as a special choice of venue.

Came for Sunday lunch whilst visiting family for a few days. Absolutely superb meal! Hope to come again when we next travel up from West Sussex later this year.

Fabulous Sunday lunch again! Dave had the mmm Scotch egg starter then beautiful rare Roast Beef. I was lucky enough the have the mmm Gluten free Croquettes then the delicious Roast Belly Pork. Everything we had was cooked to perfection & I am so lucky to have found the Bonney Comet & a Chef who really loves making Fabulous Gluten Free dishes. Thank you everyone for such a great meal & such lovely friendly service ✨️😊

Rather lovely venue in Low Fell for a treat.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch and it was our first visit. Very pleased with food and service. Not rushed and very nice atmosphere. Will be visiting again and we have already recommended restaurant to our daughters.

The wife and I had our anniversary meal there, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was great. I only mark the food down because the sirloin steak for 2 people was a bit cold when it was served, however the roast potatoes were delicious (I couldn't have enough of them). I also had the banoffee mille feuille which was nice. We'll go back again to try more tasty food.

Wow, what can we say. Atmosphere 100%, Food 100%, Service 100%. We absolutely love this place and can’t believe it’s gone under our radar. We will definitely be going back, sooner rather than later.

Just came in for a few drinks and even came back after strolling the streets of Low Fell, the service from Rachel and Reece was amazing - so attentive, nice and relaxed atmosphere with a great wine list. But I must say the margaritas are amazing We shall be back Woop woop

We had a great experience here. The food was delicious, waiting staff lovely and a special mention to the chef who very kindly made a desert for us just as he had finished his shift....extremely grateful!! We will look forward to our next visit.

Went into tonight for a 3 course meal for restaurant week and it was delicious! Would be happy to go back and pay full price for sure. Such big portions,service was also amazing. There was a good range of alcohol free drinks which in itself was great as I feel being alcohol free is becoming more and more popular and not many places accommodate this. Definately recommend and will be back!!

Me and my boyfriend went for the Restaurant week menu. We were both really impressed by the food, service, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. I'll definitely be returning.

We've visited many times now, with family and friends and we've found consistently good food, tasty cocktails (virgin Margarita is delicious!) lovely vibe and great service. Fab addition to the fell.

The restaurant is beautiful, quiet and charming. The oysters were fresh, beef wellington was very salty but otherwise great, and the desserts were amazing! The staff were very nice and polite. Overall very pleasant experience. And the price was good too. I did not expect to pay just £30 per person for side dish, starter, main and dessert, and coffee.

Fantastic three course meal and excellent value for money. Everything cooked perfectly. The Rioja Tempranillo wine was also great quality. Molly looked after us brilliantly too.

Been a lot of times for breakfast, never any other meal. The breakfast and the coffee is the best I've found in Gateshead. Really nice inside, lovely atmosphere.

Nice. Service perfect. Had the cheese burger with the lush chips and onion rings. If I had to be super critical, the meat in the burger was a bit salty, but still very tasty.

Great to have this brilliant place in our neighbourhood. Had brunch with a friend last week and had one if the best brunch dishes ever. Haggis with mushrooms and duck egg on sourdough toast. It was fab. Friendly stylish place with spacious comfortable seating. Excellent service and efficient friendly service. What's not to like?

Hidden in plain sight. Spur of the moment visit…….what a great choice. Amazing food, didn’t want it to end. I’ve had scotch eggs many times but never as good as this, just amazing and the cheeseburger was equally as good. Sounds like simple dishes but don’t be put off by it. They would never disappoint.
