This cafe is a nice stop off on our canal walks & is fine for the whole family. We took our granddaughter for lunch & even though they were short staffed, and very busy, the wait wasn’t unreasonable. Besides, I can think of worse places to spend my time. We had sandwiches which were lovely & fresh and toasties which were packed and also very tasty. Even with our drinks it was less than £20

A absolutley hidden unique gem in the heart of Chorley Lancashire off the A6 . Set in a Lovely tranquil quiet location The boatside cafe is clean and stands by the Leeds and Liverpool canal . Canal boat hire is here too. Fantastic food served here ,always met with happy staff that will bend over backward to meet the needs of there customers. Food is freshly cooked and reasonably priced. We have been coming here a while now and cannot fault this little red bus Whether you want a breakfast roll , cake and coffee as you take a leisurely stroll along the canal walks . Take outs available too . Plenty of seating and benches outside too if you want to sit out in the summer if you dont wish to sit in . TOTALLY RECOMMENDED !!! Come and see for yourself.. suitable for everyone.. 10/10 from me.

The converted bus is delightful & set right next to the canal. It’s cafe standard food but freshly made & tasty. The cakes are excellent & not expensive at all. The toilets are clean as well.

I visited with my dad and we dined in the double decker bus overlooking the canal. We both opted for toasties which were delicious. Our tea and coffee were nice and hot too! The staff in the bus were bright, bubbly and very welcoming. After that we had ice creams and were served by a very polite young lady. It was a lovely setting sat by the canal. Will definitely visit again.

Where do I start? I first came to know of this great friendly place when I was fishing and saw one of their Canal boats for hire. I decided to enquire and was delighted to see a double decker bus ( Leyland Olympian) for any other geeks out there :-) My partner and myself decided to try the food, we wasn't disappointed, the Boatyard burger is recommended, our son opted for a fish finger sandwich and remained boring by having a cheese toastie. The food was perfect, brought to our table by two lovely ladies who clearly took pride in this great location and the food they prepare and serve. My partner really enjoyed the burger. We have now found our local cafe and we live 5 miles away. For any transport fans (geeks as I'm regularly told by my partner) that like a quiet tranquil spot then I highly recommend this location. There are some vintage motor bikes also to view and I believe are for sale. Boats, motor bikes and cafe on a bus.....its so different and enjoyable. There is also an outdoor seating area with tables too. We have booked a canal cruise for a birthday etc in September, however the amount of burgers we consume between now and then we will need a container ship (not the Suez one, that's going nowhere) to take us to Wigan and back. Pieceful, different, great food and service are words to sum us this little gem.

Long wait for food, 50mins for a child’s meal and 1 hour for adults sandwiches. No warning of a wait and no apology. Locals arrived after us and their food took priority. Quality of food really poor.

A welcome stop at the Bus cafe to refuel during our walk. The bacon butty was just the right choice on a cold winter's day. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. What a fantastic setting in an old bus. We'll certainly be back.

Lovely food. Bus nice and wobbly, just like being on a bus ride, lol. Food is gorgeous. My mum has dementia and loves going to the bus for dinner. She always say where are we going when we are on it. Lll

Top class food in a friendly atmosphere at an unusual location beside the canal. Good at anytime but even better in the sunshine. Will definitely visit again.

We called at this lovely quirky cafe in a bus by the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. The sun was shining so we sat outside. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. We were very impressed and will definitely be back with other friends.

Had this quirky hidden bus recommended to us. Called in to this canal side coffee shop/cafe for a cuppa and a toasted teacake. Friendly staff, who chatted with us as we enjoyed our food and drink and the canal views from the top deck of the bus.

Lovely walk along canal. Called here for breakfast. Eaten here once before which was lovely but waited ages for food. Thought it would have got initial teething problems over by now and have improved on service time. Obviously not. Shame really. Quite a nice day so sat on outside tables. Took at least 20 mins to get coffees. Then waited another 20mins for food. Not ideal at all. As much as the idea of a bus as a cafe on the canal is great idea and different. Not sure the most practical i.e. space for cooking. Also think more staff required. Taking orders, making drinks and bringing food to tables not working with only 1 person doing. Tables not getting cleared either. Still needs a few tweaks to get it running smoother. No complaints on food though.

Part of a barge for hire place. Nice setting on banks of canal. You can either sit on the top deck of the bus or outside watching the barges go by. Only had a latte and cake but was very pleasant. Good place when the sun shines.

We decided to try something new for our regular weekend walk with our dog and visit The Boatyard Bus Café.From the outset, the staff were friendly and welcoming especially when it came to be introduced to our canine companion. As there were no tray bakes available, we decided to try the carrot cake. The portions looked huge, but it was nice and light enough so we didn't feel stuffed. Alongside this, we had two bottles of Diet Coke. With the total price coming in at £7.90, it was fantastic value for money plus it goes to the local economy (as opposed to a chain). The location is also a selling point with the café being located just off the A6 road between Adlington and Chorley. However, as it's near the canal it also had the feeling of being "off the beaten track" which gives you the opportunity to relax whilst having your snack. If you're visiting the area, taking a walk or going on a canal trip, a visit to The Boatyard Bus Café is a place to add to your itinerary.

Checked out this cafe when we hired a boat over Easter weekend. Finally Visited today with my husband and collie half way through a 6 mile walk today on a rare day off together mid week. The Welcome was really warm and the food was lovely and extremely good value, with a focus on locally sourced product which is important to us. A treat of blue cheese and bacon burger with a really nice dressed salad. On our way out we picked up 2 caramel lattes to take away and we commented that it's good coffee!!

Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Arrived about 10.40 ish. Only one other table occupied. Order 2 veggie breakfasts. We ordered before the other couple, however they were served before us. We waited an hour for the breakfasts. Food was ok, but wasn’t overly impressed with the wait. Was told that it was because the food was ‘fresh’, but I’m sure that should be expected anyway! However, it does have potential and should look into investing into more professional cooking equipment to provide a faster service. The two ladies were very friendly and welcoming and the views are nice.

This is a great little cafe! My family decided to have a walk along the canal and pop in for lunch. We were greeted firstly by a very friendly little doggy and then by the 2 very friendly ladies running it. Nothing was too much trouble. It still looks like a bus on the inside and space is limited but due to the quirky nature of the location, I was willing. Unfortunately not wheelchair friendly but there is space outside to sit and on a sunny day that really would be so beautiful, it's on a lovely stretch of canal and it's very peaceful. We decided to go the whole hog and have lunch and cake for dessert. Between us all, I'm sure we sampled most of the menu, it's mainly light bites but there is a good selection, there could have possibly been a couple more vegetarian sandwiches but I'm sure they would have accommodated if asked. Everything came out hot and with a well dressed salad. The coffee was delicious and the mocha is one of the best I've ever had! The cake selection although not huge, is well thought out and the slices are a good size. They were very tasty with fresh cream. I would recommend and I would certainly go again.

Food is freshly cooked to order and the coffee is excellent quality - all at reasonable prices. The staff are very polite and no query is too small. Allergen information is available on the counter so you can be sure allergy sufferers are catered for to the highest standard possible. Would highly recommend to others.

Only thing I would like to see is better opening times as I’d like to take the kids straight from school at 4pm and it’s always closed! Otherwise, this place does amazing food and it’s great to be able to take the kids for a nice healthy meal. Why do some restaurants think that kids want nuggets and burgers? My kids love this place and it suits them both as one eats meat and the other is a vegetarian.

I visited twice within a week & both times the experience was very good. First time with my pals for lunch & all three of us enjoyed our meals. The second time was with my partner & daughter for breakfast. Again the food was perfect. Most meals are cooked from fresh so there may be a short wait but it’s worth it. The staff are really nice & the cakes are unbelievable.
