Great food, great staff, great service. Paulo the chef recommended a dish on the menu and he did not disappoint. It was delicious. We will definitely be back again and again

Had one evening meal and breakfast and were well looked after by really nice lady... went back on a Friday and after main course we were suddenly ignored.. Young boy that was waiting on us disappeared and was wiping glasses, the owner gave us eye contact and then ignored us... He was busy giving freebies to his regulars! There seems to be a bit of an air in the town that tourists are not welcome outside on the festivals!! Nice to earn your living out of a handful of busy festival weekends,.. but be careful that you don't build your house on sand!!!

Ideal location for wedding reception or any other event. Plenty of car parks within waking distance 5-10 minutes. Nearby street parking all limited to 1 hour. Excellent varied selection of tapas food. Very clean and tidy.

Lovely restaurant on the river severn. The food was really nice and tasty. We did have to ask them to slow down, bringing out the tapas. we couldn't eat it quickly enough. 5 dishes in 20 minutes. Which they did after the second time of asking. It was a Wednesday night, so it was fairly quiet.

We had a fantastic meal for 5 at the Boathouse. They are extremely friendly and quick and catered really well for the coeliac in our group. The food was amazing and came in large portions, will definitely be going back

Great Italian Meal, excellent service, sat on the balcony overlooking the River.

They have a few seats riverside across the road from the cafe which are great to sit and watch life on the river. They can also be a sun trap as they are often sheltered from the wind. Staff are always friendly.

My partner's cousin and her husband came to visit us and to see the delights of the Malvern hills. They live in the USA, have travelled extensively and appreciate a variety of cuisines. She is also an exceptional cook. After our meal she commented several times on the very good flavours of each tapas dish, declaring it a "Meal to Remember" We had ordered tapas to suit both vegetarian and non vegetarian palates, consisting of two types of salad, meat and vegetable dishes from the a la carte menu. We were passing through Upton and stopped in for a light breakfast, we had two Mushrooms on Toast as that sounded like it would fit the bill, the menu did say it would come with lemon but I never believed Mushrooms could taste so bad, the Lemon Dressing and what ever was with it, as it didn`t just taste of Lemon overpowering neither of us could eat the Mushrooms and we just ended up having just the one slice of toast for £6.50 each

Really great place to eat in Upton. The 5 for £25 tapas offer is amazing and the quality of the food is outstanding. Sitting upstairs on the outside terrace is lovely

What a stunning and fabulous place! My first visit here and I’m already checking my diary to plan my next one. The food was top drawer, staff were welcoming and the setting was second to none! Thank you Boathouse for a fabulous evening! I would like to add people who haven’t been there, but feel they can leave a bad review should be ignored and reported! Try it for yourself and see why they are clearly wrong!

Fabulous location by the river… clearly very popular and can understand why! We booked to bring our dog with us and I can honestly say the doggy friendly dining area was one of the best I’ve ever visited… the staff were welcoming and very informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the most tasty tapas and delicious cocktails! Thank you for a very pleasurable afternoon, we will be back! Xx

Food took way too long to turn up, the staff were rude and disrespectuful towards me and my party, the garlic on my food was overpowering and would never go again. Recommend staying away from this restaurant until major changes have been made.

NOT dog friendly place! We arrived as Family of three + small (slelty) well behaved dog for lunch on a hot Sunday. Riverbank tables were occupied, and we were only offered to sit inside downstairs. Our plea for a table on the balcony, where only one small table was occupied, fell on death ears. Left hungry..

Visited on Bank Holiday, the town was quiet but the Boathouse served a really yummy breakfast, which was served quickly. I had the chorizo hash, my husband had the eggs benedict. Very reasonable, and took some cakes home with us

No kids menu, weird policy about kids eating with us as we been told we need to pay £15 extra after ordering not before.

My wife and I just came here by chance, and had brunch. It was superb. We had a nice welcome from staff and the service was first rate. I could have stayed all day. We will definitely go back again. All the best to everyone who works at The Boathouse.

Our wedding anniversary yesterday ... so being a Tuesday they were not too busy .. amazing meal, delicious spanish white to go with it, and the girl was so friendly, smiley and knowledgeable .. it was a lovely evening ... thank you!!

We saw a band upstairs. A good blues band. The tapas and service was very good. Had a great evening. The downstairs is really nice and cosy during the day. Right on the river. Some Outside seats.

Met here for brunch. Super attentive staff and service, top notch. Welcoming and friendly. Nice quirky and cosy interior downstairs (didn't go upstairs, but it would great views). Food was excellent, tasty and sensible portions, nice presentation. Great location with seating outside by the river. Minimal parking so park elsewhere in the town and enjoy the walk.

We had several tapas and a seafood platter for two. The food was very tasty. The staff were attentive and caring. Overall, lovely atmosphere we would highly recomend it. Rather busy during the festival.

I visited with my friend to watch Vincent Flatts, a rock band. The vocalist, Bertie, is my friend's friend. They are very good and funny with it. We didn't eat there.

Friendly staff, food ready quickly. The tapas are okay, but just not sensational. I had the squid and the tempura prawns. I was given extra salt and pepper squid too. The squid rings were cooked correctly but the batter was tasteless. The salt and pepper squid tasted a bit better but felt a little overcooked. I would expect tempura prawns to have a light bubbly batter but these had a hard solid batter. Overall they weren't bad but not something I would rush back for.

Came here for our works Xmas party and it was amazing, the food was very good, loved the selection we could have and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming back .

Fabulous breakfast. Just the thing on a cold snowy day. Staff are lovely. What more could you ask for.

Disappointing. After reading the reviews we wondered if it was a bad night? Allegedly freshly cooked to order but it all tasted rubbery like it had been microwaved. The dips and pittas tasted cheap and shop bought. An plus for any meat dishes to be brought out. Cheap feta and olives - all in all we could easily have (and do) produce better dishes and ceronot worth £300*. The staff were helpful and the place was clean but none of our party will ever return.

Great service and a thoroughly enjoyable experience

The ladies (staff) were good fun as well as being diligent and informative. The food was excellent and the chef was happy to play along with a joke our waitress and I were having. Well done crew 👍 Rod

Went here last night and had the best tapas. To start with we had 2 Bramble gin cocktail and then ordered the “kings tapas” 11 of the most popular dishes for £25 per head. This was very tasty and a great variety of dishes. The service we received was great and we would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We met up with friends for a meal. We had a lovely time, enjoyed the food. The Tapas was very tasty and lots of. My only negative is it would have been nice to have the 11 dishes staggered, and not delivered as quickly as the lovely waitresses/waiters did. We understand other tables needed attention as well ,our comments are only on a positive note and we will return.

Upton on Severn , lovely area, you can eat Tapas on the Boathouse river patio or the Balcony. Sorry to see that Cruz Campo beer is no longer served, such a pity. Interesting place to be when the flooding river rises over the wall and up to the ‘see through’ glass flood defences. Parking an issue close by, but a large free car park available other side of the river. Boat hire also available from the marina side.

disappointing food. garlic on the prawns was raw, hand cut chips at £3.00 a rip off small bowl of anaemic looking flacid fries, sauce on meatballs ok but meatballs lacked flavour as did the tagine bread basket was focaccia style with rosemary which I hate and some bright spark decided to put a load of smoked paprika in the garlic mayo - why?

The tapas at this restaurant has always been excellent, and we have eaten here a few times, always wanting to come back. This evening however, we were disappointed by the flat cola, (which was replaced by more flat cola) and the focaccia, (which apparently is 'supposed to be dry', as we were told by the manager when we questioned it.) There was no apology from her, and although our drinks were taken off the bill, we were left thirsty as no alternatives were suggested. What a shame. The tapas dishes were, again, delicious but we found the customer service lacking.

Quite frankly I have never liked tapas... or at least I didn't until I came here to eat. The food is fantastic. The portions are very generous and it's served to you as soon as each dish is cooked (why this isn't more common in British restaurants I'll never know) so it's absolutely as piping hot, fresh and delicious as it possibly could be. The choice available on the menu is quite frankly stunning and well thought out. The staff are absolutely brilliant and even asked my vegan partner for feedback on their extremely popular vegan platter. I got the impression that her suggestions (bring back a couple of things that were omitted this time that she enjoyed the last time she ate there) were taken seriously. The restaurant itself is nicely furnished, with a wonderful view overlooking the river directly outside. The only downside to this is that parking outside the restaurant is extremely limited, but there is a good sized public carpark only 5 minutes away on foot with easy access to the restaurant's location. I would thoroughly recommend booking, because this restaurant can get busy. The main eating area is located up fairly steep stairs so those with wheel/pushchairs may be confined to the smaller (but equally as nice) bar area downstairs. Overall, though, I cannot recommend the Boathouse enough.

Not really a strict tapas. Food was OK but nothing special but waitress was a delight.

We booked for the 2nd of January 2022 back in November 2021. The booking was confirmed via email for 6.30 2nd January and we also spoke to the manager directly to confirm the gluten free menu. However upon arriving for dinner the restaurant was closed and is closed from Christmas to 7th January which meant that we could not eat at the restaurant but also anywhere else in Severn due to gluten free needs. Hugely disappointed that the restaurant failed to let us know that they were closed and confirmed our booking both through their system and in person but then couldn't honour our booking. Terrible experience.

Great coffee and cake by the riverside.

Initially and certainly from the outside, there didn't appear to be much temptation to go in to this place. However, we were surprised to discover a cosy and welcoming bistro serving a good selection of plates to suit most. In Upton we found that it was probably the only likely choice on a Sunday evening. The house wines @ £ 4.50 were a good choice and 3 tapas plate and a plate of potato bravas were spot on.

Lovely lunch with a friend on the balcony overlooking the river. Second time here and I was not disappointed. The food is delicious but be warned. The portions are very generous and too good to leave. We were so full, so arrive hungry! Lovely waiting staff. Helpful and friendly but not intrusive.10/10
