Never eaten here but music nights are brilliant.

Staff miserable unless you are a ‘regular’. Not child friendly despite there being a huge play park outside. Don’t go if you’ve got kids unless you want them to be told off for being kids. Saw the manager tell a child off and not allow her to go to the customer toilets despite her parents being a paying customer and buying loads of food and drinks for the family. I know this seems absolutely outrageously not true, but it is. Response welcome from the manager

Top place to visit. Good beer, great location and friendly staff.

Was quite a good turn out from clubs all over as far as lincoln to yorkshire and south. Place was friendly an catered for the large group ok. Put a bit of snack type food on for scooterist, but ran out after 1st 20 mins lol. Nice of them though. Imagine the profits will be high this week as beer was flowing with line well outside doors at times.

Top notch Sunday carvery, great free entertainment, and low prices. Perfect!

Was at the boat house this Saturday 17th august 24 what a night the band were brilliant the staff never stopped, the landlady worked her socks off the beer was not over priced and we had a lovely Sunday lunch we will be back again soon loved it.

Didn't have food so can't comment, beer great atmosphere great and entertainment live acts great

Myself and family was camping and enjoyed that side of things. We took the children to the park and sat on the park benches, not even near the pub but at the football pitch where there was plenty of empty seats, whilst the kids enjoyed playing football and the park. The landlady came over and told us we have to buy a drink and can not sit here drinking our own, never heard of this 1 before especially as it was boiling hot but we apologised and tipped them away and sat back down. Then a short while after she came back out again advising us that we now can’t sit here as it’s her business and she needs to make a living - not even giving us time to say actually let’s look at the menu then or anything just very rude and obnoxious! We go shardlow lots of times and have eaten there with a large family booking previously, however I think customer service and just basic manners to be honest these days is key and how that landlady behaved and spoke to us we will never ever step foot back in that pub!

We stayed as a family of 5 camping for the first time since I was a little girl aged 12( I'm currently 31 years old) I have 3 children aged 11, 9 and 1. The camping sight itself was brilliant. The pub/bar/ footy park or park whatever you want to call it. WOW!! Just wow. We came with our friends another family of 5. The red head women was SO rude. Myself and my friend walked all our children over and she came over saying you can't bring your own drinks, which we understood and didn't think. We tipped our drinks out and walked back over to our bench. She then came back over and stated " If you sit here and don't buy a drink I dont make no money" "we all need to make a living" bare in mind we was there less than 15 minute's so she gave us no time to even let us look to buy drinks let alone snacks. She again continued to argue with my 14 year old friends daughter getting closer to her face saying " you'll understand when your older" Absolutely disgusting behaviour and I'm not being funny but ur pub "garden" was absolutely dead! What was the harm in our children using the park/footy goals to make you "look" busy? I wouldn't ever recommend the pub to anyone I know. We've bin silly as we've bin warned how vile the land lady is. She clearly stated she's separated from the caravan/tent site. I will 100% be visiting again for clearly the caravan / tent site but we will never be visiting the boathouse pub. What a shame and also an embarrassment for the lady that says she runs the pub. Shame on you!

What can I say about this place, cracking beer in the evening, fantastic breakfast and sublime Sunday lunches. All round wonderful atmosphere and brilliant staff.

Love this place ,great atmosphere

Beautiful pub by the side of the canal, lock and marina. Can sit outside in the beer garden and enjoy the area and the passing boats. There were 10 of us today having various mains and desserts. Everyone enjoyed their food and there wasn't a single complaint. The service from the staff was very good. It's also dog friendly. Definitely recommended, we will be back.

Great simple pub food at a reasonable price and friendly staff. Fantastic venue for live music and the band's performing have always been really, really good. A great night out.

Always a great night there, the Band's they have are excellent, limited parking due to people living on the Boats park there, cannot comment on the Food but they have a Carvery on Sundays 12- 4.00pm, disabled access and Toilets available, close to a Bus stop, Skyline from Derby or Leicester.

Relaxing with a nice atmosphere, carvery is delicious and perfectly cooked, plus a good choice of drinks .

There for the Canal festival. Didn't eat or drink but staff helpful and friendly to stallholders. Sara especially worked so hard to keep all the stallholders happy. Black Pig Morris as good as every, keep up the good work Sara.

Lovely place to go if your caravaning or camping, even if you don't do this the walks are lovely the boat house is fantastic with Sarah and Neil land lord/lady,thank you for all you do and the staff.

Thank you to Brett and his team for making our weekend, we were first time visitors at the caravan site and we could not ask for more. So friendly and hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. Top it all up the locals were equally very welcoming and the weekend bands created a ambient atmosphere. The food service was excellent and affordable beverages. Best Manjit

Been once again for Sunday carvery an absolutely beautiful dinner friendly hosts and nice beer. Outside is beautiful a place to get away for a while and relax even if it juts an hour see you again soon simon gibbons

Decent bar, food and staff. Apart from the owners who clearly don’t want kids in there. Sly remarks about our 1 year old son because he screamed a few times, not sure what you’re expecting when there is a good camp site next door probably keeping that bar open. Very annoying especially after easily spending £300 or more in there. The bar isn’t the problem, it’s very clear the ignorant owners are the problem and because of this we won’t return even to the campsite again which is a shame. Shane.

I wouldn’t bother stepping foot in this pub if you have children!! We stayed on camp site and used this pub over the 3 days spending £100’s on food and drink and the last night it came apparent that rude remarks were being said about our 1 year old boy… ( O that’s screaming baby is back again) the owner also came over to our table to remind us children needed to leave by 8.30pm in the middle of our meal! We felt very unwelcome just because we had a baby. It’s a shame we won’t now be returning to the camp site as we have stayed a few times and always enjoy it!

Lovely place, shame about the owners as they are very miserable and anti kids, despite having a family touring site next door and a very big play park. Wouldn't even let a toddlers scooter inside the pub 🙈

Absolutely love this place. Beautiful location and amazing staff. Fantastic food and service, exceptional Sunday carvery. To sum up, it's just a lovely friendly clean and bright place with great weekend afternoon and evening entertainment, ie... Singers , Bands etc covering all genres of music 🎵 from all decades. I totally recommend the Boathouse , shardlow for a full fun day out!

Told them I left my money on the table since I was by myself and was coming back but one of the ladies took them and my drink even tho I wasn’t done and when I told them about my money not being on the table, they denied they had taken it even though how can you miss £3,50 going missing from the table, The small beef rolls were £4 and weren’t rlly worth it, drinks are fairly priced though so fair prices to drink.

We called at the boathouse as we’ve heard how good the Sunday dinners are and we wasn’t disappointed! The carvery had a great choice of meats and all the freshly cooked vegetables you could think of so compliments to the chef. The Lanlord and landlady was also very warm and welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful, very attentive and not annoying just how I like it when dining out. We Will definitely be returning.

Came to stay for the weekend, campsite attached is lovely. We came for some dinner in the pub which was lovely but the landlord isn’t child friendly my 2 year old son got out his seat for 2 minutes and he stormed over and told him off, then proceeded to tell me to put my son in a seat. We spent over £140 on drinks and food to be treated like that… put us off coming back.

Cheap and cheerful, friendly staff, regular live music at weekends and outdoor events throughout the year. Huge beer garden but childrens play area needs attention.

We will try and keep this short BUT, if you have kids don’t attend you are removed at 8 by the owner and are refused anything else they don’t want your business. The old owner was always welcoming. From now on walk 2 minutes further down the road to the navigator for better food and a more welcoming visit. DO NOT ATTEND

Very clique this place. Waiting to go in for a breakfast, old woman who runs this place come out then starts giving me the third degree, then would not let me in. They do this to everybody if they do not like the look of you.

Not very welcoming at ALL. parked up an some woman was shouting at us straight away to tell us we couldn’t park in a DEAD car park!! Then she let us explain we would come an have a drink to be told they were closed for a hour?? We would have still gone for a drink before we left, but my god her manner and how she was to new customers, I’m shocked at the why she spoke and the attitude towards us was horrible no need what’s so ever, be aware of a lady with a very loud attitude🤪 not want you need for a quiet morning walking the dog, just WOW. No need for the attitude no wonder the car park is empty!!! Specks volumes.

Lovely place perfect location. Steak and chicken kebab was delicious. My wife and I are teetotal and the prices for soft drinks are unbeatable. Can't remember the last time I paid £1 for a coke in a restaurant.

Bass on hand pull, well kept and pleasant pint. Had the homemade pie (steak and potato) and chips. Very nice. Good chunks of steak and potato.

I took part in the Shardlow Festival today and had a stall right inside the pub. What more could you ask for? Fab place with a real holiday and pleasant feel to it. The staff are really friendly, the pub and the toilets were clean, the food comes hot, tasty and at a reasonable price and plus - the range of beers are excellent. Will definitely be frequenting the place a lot more now I've found it. Well worth a visit!

Not been here for a while came with my 2 teenage grandchildren had a lovely meal chunky chips to die for will certainly come again
