The Boat Inn in Wrexham

The Boat is a lovely riverside establishment with lovely views of the river Dee. There's ample parking and outdoor seating for warmer days. There's several rooms within the building with open fires or wood burners, adding to the cosy feeling on cold winter days. The food is always lovely, as are the staff.

Tina was amazing, really attentive. Food was excellent too and reasonably priced.

Not the cheapest but superb. Popped in for lunch. Don't often say this but it is a must visit place if you are in the Wrexham area. Great food and,service in a superb location by the river Dee

We called in today on passing as staying in the area The view by the river are stunning we was able to grab a table And was served by the lovely Tina Her service was fantastic what a lovely lady nothing was too much trouble at all… The food was fantastic I had the game pie the flavours was amazing nice light pastry Also had the apple strudel for dessert Wife had the steak burger and the brownie I thought the food price was very reasonable for the quality of the food Would highly recommend and would go back again Would love to visit in summer sat out by the river

Lovely place. Nice people good beer n wine n food. Update. Lived in area a year now. The boat inn is without doubt the best dining experience for many many 10s of miles around. We come all the time for a treat. Never... has it been anything but superb. Staff are really thoughtful and polite. Great real ales. And food... OMG...

My family and I went to this wonderful pub on 03/01/25 to celebrate my hubby's 70th birthday.We had fantastic food which was cooked to perfection and staff were fantastic.I would highly recommend a visit as it was one of the best evenings I have had in a restaurant for a very long time.WELL DONE TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!

Absolutely stunning place to eat! Food was incredible, and the staff were lovely. There was 16 of us so we had our own private dinning room. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be sure to return when we next visit North Wales! I highly recommend the Turkey and black pudding croquettes! 🤤

Very nice pub restaurant with beautiful outdoor space next to The River Dee. The menu is relatively small, and there are no labels for dietary requirements. When asked, there was a vegan starter and main available. I had the manchurian vegetable balls (vegan) which came with a deliciously spicy sauce. I also had the vegetable curry which could be made fresh to a vegan requirement. The curry was much smaller than the turkey roast dinner and some of the other mains like the fish and chips.

It's a really delightful place to eat; a great setting by the side of the river, even if it was raining the day we visited. Nice busy atmosphere inside, friendly staff and really good selection of food which was well presented and delicious - makes a change as i was loosing faith in pub food recently, but this one is excellent. Service was a little slow, but they were very busy and it was worth waiting for

First time visiting this establishment. Beautiful setting next to the river. Building old, with a slick modern interior. Staff were warm, friendly, and engaging. The food was excellent, buitifully cooked, and a great portion size. This will definitely not be the only time we visit. Highly recommended.

Although the restaurant seems to be located at the end of the world, it is worth visiting. The visit resulted in a delicious dinner! The food served to us turned out to be delicious. Very nice service and short waiting time for dishes despite the place being fully occupied.

This restaurant is in an idyllic position alongside the Dee. It has a lerge events room but we opted for one of their cosy little muddle of rooms, warmed by real fires. There's a great choice of food, which never disappoints, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. A regular favourite.

Overall good but no roast potatoes with my turkey. Main disappointment went for Main -Christmas Dinner .Turkey all good with stuffing,red cabbage, puree root vegetables but no roast potato’s. Make you wonder when the turkey was cooked perhaps microwave hence no spuds Kindly offered chips- to be paid for. Normally I would award the Boat Excellent so surprised

Repeat visit catching up with friends and once again we enjoyed lovely service (thank you, Tina et al) and great food! A visit to The Boat is still a real treat at any time of year and have enjoyed seeing the lovely changes since my first visit over 40 years ago!

Best Sunday dinner I’ve eaten at a pub or restaurant. Table of 8 while visiting the area with family. Beautiful building and surroundings, food was enjoyed all round, half roast chicken was the best I’ve had, banoffee paris-brest was delicious and tasted freshly made, service was friendly and professional. Almost 4 weeks ago and I’m still thinking about the food. Highly recommend.

Sunday 3 Nov 4 of us had roast beef dinner. Absolutely delicious, hot, well cooked and nice selection of vegetables. Thanks for getting us in with such short notice.

Lovely surroundings, food was lovely, although meat a little chewy. Had to ask for munu after about 10 minutes of being seated, also had to ask for drinks and call again to order. Wouldn't have minded if really busy but quite a few empty tables.

The Boat not only boasts a wonderful setting, the food is fresh and very tasty and the service exceptional with fantastic customer service. A lovely family feel and if you fancy a drink or chill in the bar there is a lovely open fire. Can't speak highly enough of staff, venue and food

Just wow. Ambience, service and food. Could not find fault. Location is beautiful. When booking on line I requested a table by the fire. We got that, it wasn't lit but that was soon remedied the very helpful South African guy. Look forward to returning

Called at the boat on Saturday the weather was glorious sat outside and had a drink. Bar staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The decor is very modern and a cosy fire greeted you. We had food which was cooked to perfection, staff all had a personality which nowadays it hard to come by. Well done to you all will certainly be back again

The way that it has been transformed is extremely tasteful and simpathic to the original building the atmosphere is a relaxed country atmosphere. Really enjoyable.

This is a lovely restaurant in a nicely decorated riverside pub with an amazing setting. Excellent lunch - friendly, efficient service and paced efficiently but with no rush. The menu was really interesting with dishes that certainly weren’t the usual pub offering and the calves liver main was possibly the best I’ve ever eaten. All of us were really impressed by the range and quality of all parts of the meal and we’d certainly go again. Highly recommended.

We can't claim to be regulars, living some distance away, but we love this inn. It's well worth the effort of finding it, if only for the location, beside a river straight from 'Central Casting'. On a summer day, to sit at a table on the river bank, glass of something cool in your hand and a delicious meal in front of you as the water burbles past, the cares of the world just pale into insignificance for a while. Yesterday, on our most recent visit, introducing friends to the place, the weather was not that inviting. But the blazing log fires in the bar were an excellent substitute. Attentive staff, wonderful food. What more could you ask for?

Stunning location, well worth the trip. We were staying quite local for a week. Our first experience was so good we had a second visit on our last night before travelling back to Yorkshire. Beautiful surrounding for a drink outside, warm and comfortable seating inside. The staff were attentive, service was excellent. First class food from a varied menu presentation was excellent. Highly recomended

3 adults 1 child all had the roast beef and Yorkshire puds meal, it was excellent the service was fine the staff were very welcoming the boat is in a stunning location, we have been on a number of occasions and always been pleased with our meals. Wasn’t to keen on the low lighting in the small room at the bottom of the stairs, some people my like it , to dull for me .

Really time at the Boat on Sunday night with friends, food was excellent and the service attentive at the right times, were nearly the last out but very pleased they were open on a Sunday evening👏👏

Wow what a fantastic place to eat, the food was superb, staff were very attentive without being overbearing. Dog friendly, the waiter gave both our dogs a big fuss and gave them some dog biscuits.

Wonderful food in a spectacular location

We visited yesterday for the first time in a number of years and although it was rainy the welcome was warm and the service good. The food was good and our party had clean plates when we had eaten including 2 teenage boys! Before we had gone for a wedding on a bright summers day and we were able to take in the lovely view of the river from outside tables when the ceremony was over. I don't know if they cater for weddings now but the setting is so good it is worth asking.

Stopped for drinks on a Friday and booked for Sunday lunch. Both times were really good - guest ales, good wine selection and a lovely location by the River Dee. The roast beef was good quality and value! Definitely will be back.

This pub is superb, do not hesitate to visit. The food was some of the best we’ve had in a long time and the staff and service were perfect. The Sri Lankan curry was awesome and the chef really knows their flavour and spices.

The food at the Ship is truly excellent, the cost is not extortionate and service was very good indeed. There’s parking which in the area is rare. All in all a lovely visit, one we’ll be repeating.

We were visiting the area and this was a recommendation. Absolutely delighted that we made a booking as the food and service was first class. It’s a beautiful setting and this must be a visit to anyone in the local area.

Excellent lunch well worth the journey in a beautiful location on the Dee. We both had curried prawns, squid and crab on a crumpet, delicious flavour, totally unique, and just enough spice enhancing the taste of the fish. We then both had fishcakes, homemade and served with a cucumber salad, no pic sorry. Finally we shared the bread and butter pudding with apricots and clotted cream. Freshly baked with a crisp top. Good value for well cheffed food.

Great food, with a bistro type atmosphere, book a table in advance as it's very popular.

The macaroni cheese had a roasted lettuce leaf alongside it... looked strange and wasn't eaten. The steak was very good tho 👍

Pictures on the river in front of the boat inn, added from their own review page shows kayaks directly infront !! So very disappointed after doing hours of research online, looking at reviews / and youtube videos . We arrived at the boat in @ 1030 am We ( a very hard working couple in our 50,s decided to relive our youth ! And the plan was to go early, set up and suit up ( wetsuits ) and innertube down the river for a hr then to visit the pub for a highly recommended sunday lunch ! As we arrived we got into our wet suits ( inwhich was a task on its own ! Lifejackets on ,oars at the ready ! Just about to lock the car and we were aprouched by a member of staff from the boat inn . He said we really couldnt be doing anything in front of the boat inn for no access and no water sports of anykind are allowed ! Fishing up stream and down stream created a big no .so we ( thank goodness went to Bangor on dee ,were we had a fantastic time ! And the best sunday lunch !

Just visited for Sunday lunch whilst on a family mini break in the local area. One of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had, amazing atmosphere, good beers and service.

Didn't eat here, just drinks and soak up the atmosphere and location. Lovely setting adjacent to River Dee, very photogenic and enjoyable. Staff all pleasant & friendly. Look forward to returning soon.

We visited for Sunday lunch. I had topside of beef homemade Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes red cabbage sweed mash broccoli and a red wine gravy it was delicious. My wife had half a chicken with the same sides and that was also delicious. We both had bread and butter pudding and clotted cream dessert, that's was also delicious. I highly recommend visiting the boat inn, delicious food excellent service and a lovely setting.

Lovely location, service, atmosphere, food n drink. Certainly recommend the Pork Belly Starter. 2 couples well looked after. Breast of Chicken, Burger, Ham Egg n Chips and Cajun Jambalaya all great. Certainly recommend to family and friends plus will return.

Staying locally for a few days this place was highly recommended to us, having booked a table we arrived 10 mins early and asked if there were any tables in the garden, we we told to return at our scheduled time to enable an outdoor table to be found, however when we returned we were told there were no such tables available, no biggie as we sat near an open door, only to find lots of unreserved outdoor tables given to diners, so after a full 20 mins someone finally came over to take our order, food arrived and was ok, ordered another drink which never came, so had to find a waitress, wasn't asked if ' everything is OK?' Or if we needed anything, I guess they were busy that day. All in all the location is fantastic but felt a little let down by the service, I guess it will be better next time.

One of the most beautiful locations for a pub restaurant and the building, inside and out, is stunning. Lots of outdoor seating areas and the views down to the river Dee are beautiful. My Crispy Beef Salad "light bite" lunch was delicious and so well served and fresh. The perfect kept pint of Maverick IPA served in a pint handle jug was just perfect and went down so well with my Beef Crispy Salad. Thanks for making my visit to your beautiful pub restaurant so memorable and to all the friendly, welcoming staff, thank you...especially to Sophie! Well done all, and I highly recommend this pub restaurant most definitely.

Lovely birthday dinner for my bestie.

Being a beautiful summers evening the outside tables were full with groups. Families, young and older ones alike having drinks by the river and pizza from the outside pizza oven. Inside full menu with a great selection of quality food. Worth the 45 minute drive

Had lunch here two days ago. Lovely old inn, staff friendly and welcoming, food excellent. We had the steak and beer battered fish both were good quality and well presented. Although the pub was quite it was a nice atmosphere, and it was beautiful sitting beside the river in the afternoon sun. Recommended.

We ate here for the first time yesterday. The staff were excellent, from the initial welcome, right through to Lily, who was our waitress. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed. The location is stunning. We can’t wait to return.

Popped in on Sunday evening for a meal and couple of drinks, fabulous as always.

Four of us had a meal and one meal was unacceptable. The pastry was so thick and hard that it was difficult to cut. It appeared that it had been eaten because the crust was so tough it was cut many times. The waiter did speak to the chef and the outcome was to be given 4 ration cards. 6 are required to take £12 off the bill. A poor response to a genuine complaint.

Hot day so everyone was outside so no tabs which meant we had to go on and queue for everything. The poor guy behind the bar had to do everything but was pleasant and laid back. Perhaps chose the wrong food because we have been dozens of times but nothing really met the mark. Great atmosphere though with people interacting and happy feel. So good overall though didnt much! J
