Absolutely appalling service, you stand in a queue then they can’t take an order for lunch 5 minutes before 12 o clock even when I said we were willing to wait for the food until after 12. No flexibility or understanding, last visit I will make to eat here

Not a patch on the old family run Morton Park Garden Centre Cafe, food was very basic, the gruff waitress brought our meals out and when we asked for eating utensils, she replied "they're by the till" as she walked off!!! ... Whatever happened to the good friendly service we used to experience at Morton Park GC cafe? Never again this place is about the same standard as a motorway services cafe, they can do much better!!

Took soooo long to get served that sadly some of the elderly folk who joined the queue probably never made it. There were 4 staff members but they just seemed to faff around and drag their heels. Might go elsewhere in future otherwise I could starve.

We used to love this place as the food was fresh and reasonably priced. We stopped for lunch and had sandwiches and a jacket potato it was mediocre food but so expensive. The ordering system needs reviewing as you queue for ages to order as the menu is not evident. The Costa at the back of the garden centre is much better.

Moreton Park Garden Center is somewhere we go to often as it is fairly close to home. It is just off the roundabout on the A5 road so ideal for travelers to stop for a meal, or just a snack. The food is good and reasonably priced. The only draw back is if you go at peak times as you may have to wait because it is very popular with both locals and visitors not matter which day you go. The toilets are always very clean and the staff are very friendly.

Second time I’ve made the mistake of buying lunch here while shopping for plants (also overpriced), the coffee is weak and Luke warm but worse than that is the food...the worse sandwiches since the 1970’s! Cheap white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth and slabs of ham with fat, massive tasteless chunks of tomatoes all smeared with cheap margarine. The tomato soup was edible but as it came out of a tin that’s to be expected. On a plus side the whole place changes hands on Monday and I am optimistic to see a complete revamp of both the garden centre and cafe...if they are looking for inspiration visit the Grovesnor Garden Centre who have a superb cafe that is permanently busy.

It was Mum's 87th birthday so thought this was a nice place to go for a look round and a nice lunch.Big queue to order food, then were told they'd sold out of 2 of our 4 choices so had to rethink and queue again! Ham, egg & chips went down well but the lasagne and the risotto were overpriced for the amount - £40 for 4 meals and 2 drinks. We had a look around but thought the whole place looked 'tired', then went back to the cafe for tea and cake - or not! We looked in the fridge and decided on 2 cheesecake and 2 chocolate eclairs and went to find a table that wasn't cluttered with dirty dishes. I went to the counter to order and was told we couldn't have those cakes as they were for tomorrow. When I queried why display them if they weren't for sale, they said they might not be thawed properly! They then produced one stale looking piece of cheesecake and said we could have that. When I said no, the young girl on the till looked at me, shrugged and said 'so what DO you want then?' with attitude. If Mum wasn't with us I would have told her to shove her cheesecake, but I just ordered the teas. I really hope the new owners of this garden centre kick this lot into touch - the cafe used to be lovely with a good atmosphere and friendly staff, but not any more.

Called on Good Friday and sat in the dog friendly section. We ordered sausage, chips and beans and chicken/chorizo pasta, I ordered garlic bread as an extra. (think £2 for 2 pieces of garlic bread a little expensive) However, the meals were very tasty. Our Server who brought our meals was very friendly and polite, we told him our little dog is ill and we are taking her out to different places whilst she is well enough. He even returned to our table with a sausage for her to take home. Very kind thought and we will certainly return.

Called here with our grandchildren aged 3 and under 2 for tea and cake and a play for little ones. Met by a young member of staff who said play area was closed, time was 3.40pm and when questioned further admitted play area didn't close until 4.30pm. I explained that 30 minutes play would be enough for the youngsters so was happy to pay for less than an hour, however was then told we had to pay FULL PRICE for over 1 year olds which seems over the top. Still told play area was closed even though there were people in there, Husband was already in the queue for food and drink but we left and went somewhere else where we were welcome. It appears the lack of organisation is apparent when you approach a queue that does not move. If the coach companies inform the restaurant of their pending arrival, then adequate staff should be in place to cope with orders. Ì had to return my cold coffee and wait another 10 minutes for a replacement lukewarm one. The staff are unable to deal with meal orders. When will management accept there are major problems ?

We have visited The Blushes at Moreton Park Garden centre several times. The first time we enjoyed our drinks and cakes, the second time they seemed to be short staffed and hurried, hot drinks were spilt and our cakes were a bit dry. We visited again last week...and regrettably it had cues of people (a coach had come in I think) and were taking ages to get served. I'm afraid our last meal was not impressive and reminiscent of an over stewed school dinner. We will visit the garden centre itself again, but will eat elsewhere. Sorry :(

Lovely cafe, not a busy day when we visited plenty of staff on duty standing talking, had to wait sometime for our soup which was delicious, I had a scone with mine, which was served microwaved red hot, could not eat it immediately. On reflection I should have sent it back, although I did mention it on departure. As a baker myself I am aware that a scone should be served slightly warm or cold a hot scone will give you indigestion, which this did. Why microwave a perfectly cooked scone, beats me. Although cafe was quite there were lots of dirty tables, which didn’t affect our visit just didn’t look nice, would definitely visit again but would ask that my scone was served in its natural state ............

Having purchased a groupon voucher for this restaurant and read the reviews I was very worried to be taking the family there knowing how fussy they were. However I was pleasantly surprised. I think it is obvious that there may be new management in place and it appears to have improved a lot. We arrived early, 13.30, as the afternoon tea does not start until 14.00 but as everyone was hungry following the hour's drive to get there I went to the counter to ask could we order early, but stating that we were happy to wait until 14.00 if we had to. The young lad stated that he didn't think it would be a problem, checked and gave us our pots of tea. He took a note that we did not want cucumber with one of the sandwiches and we went to sit down. A little over 5 minutes later the Afternoon tea arrived and everything was lovely , tasty and well presented. More tea was supplied when asked and everything devoured. Well done to all the staff and the team because it seems you have turned it around.

I refer with what follows to the main cafeteria, it doesn't appear to have a name and so Blushes may be out of date as a title. Re the cafeteria I just don't understand the inconsistency - I reckon even Bletchley Park would have struggled cracking this one. The queue at times is up to 18 people all waiting to be served and waiting up to 30 minutes; it can take 15 minutes to serve just 4 orders because of the lack of structure; naturally people leave the queue in frustration and walk away to look elsewhere. The cafe have two tills, but rarely have the two in operation including at Sunday lunchtimes the busiest time. They seem to have at least 8 staff 'floating about' but they dont look to their responsibilities; tables are not cleared quickly enough for people to sit at clean tables and only one person preparing drinks when at least two are needed all the time is simple folly. The food when it comes is excellent, the hot drinks are of good quality, the choices of food and beverage are very good, the overall quality is very good ........ but someone needs to get a grip on the organisation, queues of 30 minutes for a drink is simply not acceptable.

The plate was cold, food slightly warmer and even the tartare sauce had a greasy film on it. My daughter's meal didn't arrive and when she asked about it we were treated like criminals. The girl who took the order was questioned. She came to our table and asked for our receipt! Then they congregated around the till. Eventually, with no hint of an apology from anyone a second meal arrived - also on a cold plate. All this time people from other tables were looking accusingly at us. Never again will we go there. The cakes were nowhere near fresh, and there were no teaspoons or milk for customers to help themselves to. I had to wait to catch the attention of a passing member of staff. The small jugs used for milk are inadequate and can't be used without milk leaking out of the sides. The same applies to the teapots. The family behind us had to queue just to ask for a children's menu, which should have been on display at an earlier point. All in all, it was terrible - a view obviously shared by other customers. Whoever manages this cafe needs to get their finger out and organise properly.

Staff were friendly but rather slow. One section has been turned into a children's play barn and there is now a Costa upstairs which seemed more popular. I live near and have been a lot in the past but not eaten over since it was taken over. Went for lunch with the family and am still reeling at the high prices and poor value. We had toasties and a baked potato. The toastie was two tiny slices from a half sized loaf with a meagre with a dollop of what looked like kale in a pink sauce. Hmmm. The mini tomatoes on the baked potato was old and the skin had collapsed. It was replaced when I complained but it should have been thrown away. The staff and service are good but do not make up for the poor menu choice and high prices. What has happened to this place? It used to serve delicious food gorgeous home made cakes at reasonable prices. In fact sometimes it was impossible to get a seat it was so popular. Such a shame.

Been in the past and went again with my son (14 months) sister and grandparents. Poor menu choice. I had cheese and caramelised onion toastie. Really tiny toastie which was far too sweet accompanied by a teaspoon of what looked like red cabbage and kale in mayo. Kids sandwich wasnt the freshest. Really expensive for what it was and poor quality. Tiny baby change tucked away in disabled loo in the corner. Shop was so overstuffed its hard to work you way over there with a baby and lots of bags/pram. My advice....Go to bents instead. Amazing sandwiches and lovely family facilities

Paid a visit this afternoon and found it very expensive. Two soft drinks and two millionaires shortbreads for my two grandchildren came to seven pounds thirty pence. Also there was only a small selection to choose from.Very disappointed with our stop.

Visited the blushes coffee shop the other day, and was very pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. Was served by a lovely young lady by the name of sophie i believe who was very smiley and helpful. She carried my tray for me as i was struggling with a pushchair. Very comfortable settings and lovely food. In all, will definatly be going again

Difficult to give an accurate review as the garden centre has been sold to a national company so they were in the midst of organising the shop area and it was a bit chaotic. Outside the plants shrubs etc looked to be of of good quality and there was a very good range of accessories. I am sure if I could review it in 3 months time It will be well worth a visit. There is a coffee shop but I did not use it.

We had a couple of hours here and enjoyed looking round the plants and the franchises. We visited the restaurant and had toasted sandwiches, tea and cakes and everything was fresh and tasty. Prices were average for this sort of outlet, the place was clean and the staff friendly, No complaints from us.

We stopped here for coffee & toasted teacakes on a journey down to Wales. Waited ten minutes while they burnt the first lot of teacakes, standing at the counter. When it came the coffee was OK and the teacakes average (still a bit charred) and not worth the £9.60 charged. We had the same snack, 100% better, at a National Trust tearoom a couple of days later for £2 less.

We have visited this cafe on lots of occassions in the past on quite a regular basis with our young grandson. We have enjoyed the choices and service before it was taken over.I have to say that today we were served with meals that could only be described as inedible. No longer child friendly our grandson loved playing with the wooden train table. That has now gone. The child options for toddlers is dire, asked for fish and chips expecting fisfingers naybe no received full battered fish...for a 3 yr old...Tables not clean when asked for it to be cleaned received the reply i am till staff...to be fair a young man came and cleaned it for us.All in all not impressed with the changes and will not be returning.

We have visited this restaurant since it first opened several years ago, when we enjoyed an extensive menu of hot specials, delicious salads, sandwiches, hot and cold baguettes, savouries and mouth-watering gateaux and desserts. The latter were always a "special treat" as they were so delicious and impossible to resist!Sadly, over recent years, we have seen a drastic decline in the quality and choice of food, service and cleanliness. Staff have been flustered, lacked motivation and snapped at customers, which showed poor management and training. On our last visit, the choice of light lunches and desserts was very poor compared to the early days and it took a little while to decide what we would like to eat. In previous years it also took a little while to decide - simply because almost everything sounded or looked delicious!Having made our decision, we paid for our food and went to get our cutlery. There were just two forks and one knife in the cutlery tray, which was incredibly dirty and certainly had not been cleaned for quite a while. There are two eating areas in the restaurant. The first area had no cleared or clean tables so we went into the adjoining area, where people were eating. We were told that this area was now closed. When we said that there were no clean tables in the other area, we were told by a grumpy and flustered member of staff that they had been very busy, with no apology or offer to clean a table for us. It was a "take it or leave it" attitude. Our food arrived and we were faced with no alternative but to sit at the least dirty of the tables, as there had been no attempt to clean any of them, despite the fact that the restaurant was no longer busy. We started to eat what little we could with our fingers, as we were not prepared to risk the dirty cutlery from an even dirtier cutlery tray. The food was poor - made worse by the fact that everything was unacceptably unhygienic. We left, hardly eating anything. There was no point in taking the matter any further with staff who just really didn't want to be there or care about their customers. I would add that we are very reasonable people and do understand that restaurants have busy times and are prepared to wait for a clean table and freshly prepared food (the fresher the better!), but are not prepared to be snapped at by unhelpful staff and eat in such dire circumstances. Eating out is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. Not here! We will not be eating there again. Such a pity!

We have eaten here in the past with no complaints at all,in fact the food was very good, fresh ingredients, varied menu and the cafe itself was bright and welcoming. We noticed that it had been taken over so decided to visit for lunch last week. Oh dear what a change, and not for the better. We agree with the previous reviewers. The place is dirty, and the food is dreadful, in fact I could not eat my meal as it made me feel sick just to look at it. This used to be a thriving cafe, full of families, and senior people. We will not return in a hurry.

Used to visit here regularly but not been for a good few months over the winter. It appears the once very popular and always busy café has been taken over by someone else who has tied to make it "trendy" yet serving very outdated styled food. Now very little choice available with some random options. All the seating as been changed to uncomfortable chairs and squashed in small tables. Food came and was ok but the presentation was poor with four vegetable crisps on the side as garnish. Not sure who's bright idea it was to but soil filled plant pots on tables used for food, not only are the plants half dead but maybe they should look into where salmonella comes from!!! It seems whoever has taken over here has made no effort to find out who their customers are, generally the more mature section of the population, who judging from the other recent reviews on here won't be visiting again. I was very surprised how quiet the café was compared to any visit over the past few years. A big shame, we won't be visiting again.

Sadly, I have to echo what previous reviewers have said. The restaurant/café at this garden centre used to be really popular, nice wicker chairs and tables, a wonderful display of fresh cakes on display, good choice of hot food and beverages. Apparently the business has been taken over, and we were really disappointed. Not much on offer, a new counter with very little on display. Cheaper, smaller tables and chairs with a dying pot plant on each and lots of staff, who all looked a little flustered, although there were very few customers. This place has always been very popular, particularly with the more senior community & families, but it needs to pull its socks up and bring back the choice, quality and high standards asap!

The cafe at moreton park is the worst I have ever been too. Quite frankly I do not know how enviromental health do not not shut the place down. Everything from the tables to the floor to the cutlery was dirty. When queuing could see into the kitchen and saw the staff in Filfthy uniforms handling food with their bare hands. The food was inedible the whole experience made me feel physicaly sick. The staff don't smile it's like they don't want your custom. My advice give this place a very wide birth or risk being il.

On returning back to North Wales from a holiday in Berkshire we stopped off here for a break. The shop itself sells some lovely things, but the coffee shop ?!? There were no trays, side plates or knives and had to ask for these. The cheese scone was rather dry and did not taste fresh. Though on asking if there were any flavours for a latte, she didn't know but went and checked and brought 2 for me to choose from. They weren't short staffed at all, but the only person who seemed to know what to do was the woman on the till. Not the best of places to stop and eat at.

I visited The Blushes coffee shop with my boyfriend and his family yesterday and we were not impressed. The garden centre was lovely and the coffee shop LOOKED like it would be too. We were greeted by a light, sunny, comfy-looking cafe with a nice outlook into the covered outside section of the garden centre; pretty hanging baskets and planters full of flowers, so the view was very pleasant.. Reaching the counter, the cakes looked exquisite (especially the beetroot chocolate and carrot cakes) but we were put off by the extortionate prices (we could have bought a whole cake in the garden centre for the price of one slice in the coffee shop!).. so we stuck with 3 cappuccinos, a hot chocolate and 2 tap waters. Having worked in the catering industry and customer service for many years I must say I feel empathy for service staff in busy cafes/ restaurants... However, the cafe wasn't very busy at all and the two members of staff were apathetic, slow and grumpy.. We waited at the counter for an age to place our order and then had a long wait again for the drinks to be made. In the mean-time the member of staff serving us interrupted her cappuccino-making to serve a customer who came to the desk asking for a drink to be topped up- this seemed crazy when we had 3 drinks made and getting cold, and only one to be made. My partner's Mum and step father could not stand around for very long so they went off and found a table before they got back/ leg ache! Really, this should have taken moments and we wouldn't have minded waiting if the staff had at least greeted us with a bright and breezy demeanour - and a smile! We finally got our drinks and my cappuccino was ok, a bit on the luke-warm side and rather bitter. I rarely give a bad review and I hate to say it, but the whole experience was distinctly underwhelming, I would not recommend it (especially because of the slow service and high prices) and we won't be going back.

The garden centre the restaurant is situated in is near to my home therefore I visit quite regularly. I had not been for lunch there for quite some time and I must say it has gone downhill dreadfully since the centre has been taken over by a franchise. My mum and I ordered a jacket potato with chilli and cheese each. When our order came there were a few small spoonfuls of chilli on top of the potato and what I would consider a pinch of grated cheese! The side salad, which last time I went there was pretty substantial with a range of vegetables, consisted of two spits of watercress, three small leaves and a flower! This cost me nearly £6!!Needless to say I shall not be returning to the restaurant for anything to eat again. On another note, the toilet facilities at the garden centre leave a lot of to be desired. If visited there I suggest you go elsewhere first!

This is now called The Garden Kitchen Restaurant and not Blushes. My husband and I stopped today for lunch on the way to the orthopaedic hospital in Gobowen. Ordered two jacket potatoes, a pot of tea and a black coffee, total cost £14+! My jacket potato with baked beans arrived with a few spinach leaves and a pretty pansy?!? Hubby had chosen goat's cheese, bacon and pine nuts filling again came with a few spinach leaves and pansy! Heaven knows what they had done with my jacket potato, I could not cut into the skin let alone eat it, I promptly took it back to the counter and complained, the waitress brought me another with apologies. Looking around I noticed that a few people had left the skins of their potatoes on their plates. Hubby enjoyed the taste of the goat's cheese but struggled to find the bacon and pine nuts and the potato was very dry and over cooked.Reading previous reviews before writing mine I noticed that others have made comments about the jacket potatoes, I cannot understand how somewhere can manage to fail so dreadfully with something so simple and they obviously do not read the Trip Advisor reviews or they would have made some attempt to rectify their cooking methods. Are the catering managers so arrogant that they believe that their customers would not criticise their eatery or do they think that the food served is perfect? If they think their jacket potatoes are worth £5.95 then the very least they should do is make sure they are edible and for that amount of money they should come with a proper side salad, not a pretty pansy!I certainly will not choose to stop here again for food, there are plenty of other places which serve far better food and are better value for money. They class themselves as a Motorway Services Alternative, at least they have got that description correct............the food served is equally as poor and as overpriced as the motorway cafés.

I used to live in the area some years ago, and I visited this restaurant regularly back then. The food then was excellent, with fresh ingredients, lots of salads, and reasonable prices. Not any more!!! I was in the area for the first time in a few years, and I met a friend there for lunch. The menu was much reduced, with almost nothing for vegetarians, and I saw no salads anywhere. My partner and I eventually had a roast vegetable sandwich each...one slice of pepper on each half sandwich, one of mushroom, dry bread, and a few salad leaves. This came to nearly £5 each! And it was barely edible. My friend had a filled baked potato, which was tiny, had virtually nothing on the side like salad etc, and tasted so bad she sent it back...it eventually arrived back very slightly improved. We did NOT enjoy our lunch. In fact, we were hungry as so little food was served.I've never written a bad review on Trip Advisor before, but people need to know about this place. It's expensive, and the food is awful. Don't go there!!!!

So shocked at how much this restaurant has changed since my last visit. It no longer feels warm and welcoming and the choice of hot food and sandwiches is now extremely limited and very expensive. This restaurant used to offer fabulous homecooked meals and beautiful cakes.......not anymore. We went elsewhere to eat and will not return to this restaurant. The garden centre was still worth a visit just a shame somebody felt it necessary to change the cafe and not for the better.

The staff behind the counter were cheerful and very helpful. My chicken fricassée was absolutely tasteless and lacked the interesting flavours normally added to such a meal. The chicken was scarce in the tasteless glutinous sauce. My dessert, a crumble, was quite acceptable. My wife's jacket potato was also very disappointing. The goat's cheese, the major ingredient, was difficult to find as was the streaky bacon. She eventually found the third ingredient - two pine nuts. In short, very poor value for money. Coffee was good. Despite being conveniently near to the A5, we'll stop somewhere else next time.

Have now been half a dozen times and its the same every time - slow to take an order, slow to serve the food unbelievably slow to get a bill and take payment. The foods good, the prices are reasonable but with 5 staff in the place during our last visit and only 6 customers the poor service is the reason we now go elsewhere.

I often visit this restaurant and it is often very busy and staff try their best. Sadly today I witnessed a very rude customer demanding a meal deal even though the staff continually said the system was not recognising it was available. The couple then spoke to the manager and continued to be very rude towards staff and told them they couldn’t argue with customers. A little while later the same customer walked up to the counter and slammed a plate down saying ‘I want it warmed’ - I was nearby to this second encounter. The staff did their best to keep the situation calm and explained that it was out of their control. The manager seemed to be upset with this situation. No-one should tolerate this entitlement from some customers. It’s disappointing to see that this customer has tried to put a bad review about this poor staff member trying to blame her and get her into trouble when the customer was in the wrong in my honest opinion.

this is purely about coffee... not really an eater of the type of food served in this type of cafe.... but I like good coffee... and was not disappointed... I even asked where the coffee came from but forgot what the answer was - it was in a rather plain pack on not 'Seattles Best' as I have seen elsewhere for Asda... I like my coffee 'dry' as in red wine tannic dry... still searching for my ideal cup but this was good.
