The restaurant has no refinement, plain tables and the napkins are actually cocktail serviettes so too small. Staff are young and inexperienced. More of a cafe than a restaurant. First course was Thai Fishcakes that had been fried from frozen, not great but edible. They seem to be more worried about presentation by placing food on bits of wood than actually the quality. The menu was basic and many things were off. My steak choice was not available and I was told there was one sirloin left. I then heard a server tell my server they had run out. The steak did turn up however but it was definitely not 8 oz more like 6 oz and probably what they serve with a mixed grill. To be totally honest the food was cooked to perfection but the steak was totally tasteless and arrived on a cold plate. I doubt if I have ever had a better Medium Rare cooked steak anywhere but if the person cooking it has poor quality to start with, you can't make a silk purse out of a Sows ear. I don't think £16.50 for a 6 ounce tasteless piece of protein is good value. I am sure this place has potential but it needs some more experience with more focus on choice and quality and less on serving things in wire baskets and on bits of wood. I would have to read an awful lot of good reviews to ever return.

No volvería

The restaurant although lacking slightly in atmosphere, could have been pleasant if the woman who showed us to our table had welcomed us and been friendly. Instead she seemed affronted that we asked to sit at a largest table even though the place was almost empty and remained so all night. But we did what we were told. She then appeared annoyed that we hadn't read the menu on line so presumedly asked too many questions so we were passed us over to a pleasant waitress but by then we had been made to feel so unwelcome we just wanted to leave. The fish cake seemed to have been deep fired or at least had a lot of fat, the fillet steaks were the worst we have had for a long time. I think this restaurant seems happy with the lone dinners from the hotel and anyone else is a nuisance. What a waste. We eat out regularly and were looking for somewhere local but would never go back. If you want hostile, this is the place.

Like others,we booked this deal via Groupon. There seems to be a few deals for this restaurant, our deal was for a 3 course meal with wine and coffee included. One plus for this place is you are allowed to use the voucher on a Saturday night which was a bonus. We arrived and was shown to our window table, nice place, looks a bit like a pub restaurant however nice and clean and tidy.. We ordered Lamb Koftas and Fishcake to start with, presented really well, in fact all courses were presented really well and with effort. Koftas were to well done but tasty and the Fishcake was ok. Mains were a mixed grill and a Butterfly Chicken, again presented with attention and cooked well. Deserts were 2 sundaes and were again very nice and washed down with 2 coffees.. Yes I would recommend and Yes I would definitely return again without a doubt. The waitress on the evening pretty much single handedly ran the floor and she did an excellent job keeping the food flowing and the orders moving at a steady speed so well done. A definite Groupon bargain and definitely one of the better ones we have been to, go try it out, hopefully your be as impressed as we was. Thanks for a nice meal and an evening away from the X Factor!!!

What a waste of time and money, bought through Groupon and was appalled by the food, never have I had food so appallingly cooked, neither me or my girlfriend enjoyed it and considering we saved on the so called official price it was still terrible. The fish cake was passable but the koftas were burnt, the steaks, gammon and mushrooms over cooked, chips were microwaved, rock hard efforts and chicken was soft frozen stuff, all you'd expect from a dodgy service station. When choosing the dessert the one choice was unavailable and they only had one left of my choice, a choix pastry thing with had obviously sat around for days. On the whole a very spoilt evening, we had fun though laughing at the situation. We both felt sorry for the young girl serving, very courteous and helpful, who must surely had realised the awful food she was presenting.........We didn't complain, just left as the complaints would have gone on for a while and we just wanted to get out........not recommended!

Bought a deal over internet, would not have wanted to pay full price! Place looks like a cheap diner, very weird. We could choose a starter from a good selection, my pâté was a bit hard but relish was lovely and tangy and the bread was warm and yummy. We had to have surf and turf, the rump steak was cooked perfectly. The lobster was a challenge, but was fun. The garlic undercooked and not needed and we were encouraged to have a sauce, which was horrid and not needed. Chips were lovely and all in all, it was a good dish. Didn't have a pud, bit boring. Won't go back, much rather go to a pub!

we went to the blue steak on a groupon voucher for a steak and lobster meal..The starter was ok but the main course started badly with cold plates..the steak was cold and the lobster watery...the steaks were taken away and replaced with more luke warm and tough steaks!! the peppercorn sauce which was £3 was cold!! and tasted of cold cream...it was replaced and came back hot but having had a load of peppercorns thrown in it. still only tasted of cream. The cook needs to go on a cookery course!!The waitresses were good and tried their best in a bad situation.

We went tonight, ok we had a groupon for four adults but we still had paid £42 for that groupon. We got there and ordered our drinks, we wanted white wine but were told they ran out due to a large party from Cruffs on Friday night drinking it all, along with other items on the menu. We then went on to order our food, well what they had not run out of!! We were then told that that "the manger " had tried to ring us during the day to say that they had run out of lobster. But we never received a phone call, along with other diners who had turned up with a groupon voucher. We were offered anything off the menu except the fillet steak. Everything on the menu was way cheaper than what we were expecting, after complaining we got offered the fillet steak. When the steak arrived it was obvious that 2 of the steaks were not fillet but iron steak which was also in the menu. When we started to eat the steak it tasted funny. At this stage we were just past the point of caring as there were other guests arriving but being told different stories as to why there was no food left (accident on the M42) I felt sorry for the poor young waitresses and young lad who had to deal with all the complaints while the manager "was in the kitchen" and didn't have the decency to come and speak to people. Won't be back again.

The only item to pay for was my Diet Coke £1.95 for a 225ml bottle. As I pointed out to the gentleman who brought the bill & took my money, if someone had made a complaint as I have just done I wouldn't have charged the £1.95 & then I was offered 25% off my next bill & I explained that if he invited me back for free I still wouldn't go back! You need Ramsey's kitchen nightmares in. We arrived here last evening with a voucher for the steak and lobster. We were looking forward to a relaxing evening but with the music belting out at a hundred decibels it was impossible, we could hardly converse with one another! The starters were of poor quality, but we hoped the main would be better. The manager banged the plate containing the lobster and two small steaks on the table and roughly explained what to do with the lobster, this came with a basket of fries like the fries you get in McDonald's, with two soggy slices of mushroom, two soggy slices of tomato. The lobster was dry and chewy almost impossible to remove from the shell and the steaks were tasteless and full of grisle. The service was appalling and the place lacks atmosphere. We certainly won't be returning. came with a basket of fries very ,

I visited The Blue Steak Restaurant with my daughter for Sunday lunch yesterday, we had purchased a voucher for a two course meal for two. Having never been here before it was fairly easy to find but I don't think it would have been so easy on public transport. We had a three course lunch paying for the first course of chicken satays with a sweet chilli dip ourselves. Service was polite & prompt, & we were pleasantly surprised with the food, all evenly cooked; I'm not a fan of crunchy vegetables! We were served a rather large Yorkshire pudding, sitting on top of roast potatoes, lamb, & gravy. My daughter chose the pork, which she enjoyed, & there was also a generous selection of vegetables, carrots, cauliflower cheese & broccoli. Very nice Our chosen dessert was sticky toffee pudding (no dates, I checked first!), with ice cream, custard was also an option, & they also offered chocolate cheesecake, bread & butter pudding or a lemon cake.We enjoyed our lunch, & the staff were all very nice. There was a fair amount of space in the restaurant, which we both appreciated, I dislike tables being too close together, & my only minor criticism being that the decor didn't really create an atmosphere, it would have been nice to have felt a bit cosier. All on all very good, & I would go there again

What a terrible experience! We pre-booked a lobster and steak meal for four to be told 1/2 hour before the booking that there was no lobster, when were sat down we were told that there was no sirloin either. The only other steak was a rump which I ordered with onion rings as a side. I ordered a cream mushroom starter with ciabatta bread. When my starter arrived the waiter (who smelled of cigarettes) asked if I would like a spoon? I soon realised when he placed the dish in front of me, it was a watery soup with five slices of mushrooms and three tiny slices of ciabatta. Creamy garlic mushrooms it was not. The best is yet to come though, the steak arrived with a greasy mushroom and 1/2 a tomato and a small salad consisting of lambs lettuce but when the onion rings arrived they were cremated and all stuck together, when we pointed this out they said they would tell the chef. They never replaced them or apologised just walked off and disappeared. When we complained to the manager she said she would tell the chef and then carried on with what she was doing. The staff are in real need of some customer service training. If your looking for a nice meal out this is not the place to go, the music was so loud you had to almost shout at each other to be heard.

Booked up 3 days in advance for the lobster.Got a phone call 2 hours before our table was booked saying the delivery for the lobster had broken down on the motorway so we wouldnt be able to have the lobster as they come in FRESH..I have just been reading a couple of reviews an read that the lobsters were FROZEN,so why did they LIE?,they could have said they hadnt got any. There was 4 of us in the party,2 of us had the pate, other 2 had the creamy mushroom. The pate was nice, the creamy mushroom I thought was soup as it was runny.I wanted the sirloin steak but was told there wasn't any.So 3 of us decided to have rump steak an 1 had a steak burger,no way was that worth the money. We was supposed to have had house chips with the 3 steaks, surprise surprise they gave us fries, when I asked about the house chips the waiter said do u want me to take the fries away an get you some house chips,my reply was no,If we had waited for whoever cooks them our meal would have been cold.He brings the onion rings out last 4 bowls of them, well what can I say,all of them was burnt an when I say burnt I mean BURNT,an so greasy, needless 2 say we left them. Also the mushroom we all had with our steaks was very greasy. They need to sort the cook out as no way was he or she a CHEF.No way will we ever be going there again. It was the worse meal iv ever had.The music they had on was blasting out,we had 2 shout to each other when we wanted to talk. When asked about the music being so loud all she said was the regulars like it loud,She was a miserable person who in my mind couldn't of cared less. The young man and woman waiters were polite and embarrassed,i felt sorry for them as it wasn't their fault our meal was rubbish. In my mind the meal wasn't worth what they was asking for, glad we had groupon but still wasn't worth that. All I can say is if you have never been to this restaurant, dont go,you will be wasting your money.

My friends and I chose to dine here for my birthday meal. First impressions of the place were lovely.we asked for a wine list and we were told they do not have one so we got a bottle of processo and all the glasses were odd!silly to say but small details count. We ordered the food and the starters were just ok. The main dish for my friend was overcooked considering she asked for medium rare and the peppercorn sauce was most upsetting. It was absolutely disgusting. It was just milk with peppercorns floating in it and tasted like it had been sat in the pan for hours. My friend told them that we were not very happy and the response we got was 'ok'.we then received the bill to have been charged for everything.no one came over to discuss the matter and in the end we had to ask for the manager. The waitress then said we could not speak to her as she was cooking!!!we eventually got the vile sauces and the one dish off the bill(even that took 2 attempts to get it right). It's such a shame as the place could have alot of potential if they replaced the staff and got a chef who's sole responsibility is to cook great food. We ended our night going to Sainsburys to get our dessert as we could not bare to give any more money to them...very disappointed!

We ate in this restaurant as we were staying in the hotel as part of a wowcher deal. We wished we would have gone to the McDonalds down the road instead!I had lasagne which was clearly microwaved and came with some deep fried chips that were virtually inedible. My meal was also accompanied by some 'garlic bread' - a ciabatta that had been spread with a bit of butter and didn't taste remotely garlicky! My husband had a gammon steak which was so incredibly salty. He was then up all night with a dodgy stomach, we can't be certain that this was due to the meal we ate here but we're 99% sure it was!My daughter had sausage and mash from the childrens menu. This consisted of two tough sausages and some microwaved mashed potato. There were no vegetables served with her dinner, hardly a balanced meal for a child! Our total bill came to £28 and we were left with a very sour taste in our mouths, literally! We told the waiter that the meal was awful but were not offered any discount. We went to breakfast this morning hopeful that the restaurant would redeem itself, no such luck! My husband couldn't eat anything due to his tummy problems so I ordered the full english. I got one rasher of greasy, fatty bacon, two of the same tough sausages my daughter had been served the night before, some dried up fried bread, an egg and some beans. It was disgusting and we got out of there as quickly as we could! The restaurant is trying to be something it's not - serving lobster alongside microwaved really meals and charging a fortune for such poor quality food is not a good idea. We certainly won't be returning!

I visited the restaurant last week, four of us in total for 7:30pm. I was told that we had missed our table as it was booked for 6:30pm. The initial attitude was quite abrupt from the waiter however on further investigation someone had transferred the time incorrectly from their diary onto the sheet. We were shown to a table and given A4 sheets of paper with the menu on (this was not the same as what they have on their website though). We were informed that they had already sold out of all chicken dishes and a starter. I was surprised as it was not busy when we got there. So we went ahead an ordered. I ordered the surf and turf, lobster.....lovely I thought.A real favourite of mine and a treat. The half lobster was served. It was very, very small. Anyway I proceeded in trying to crack the claws, not easy though. The shell ricocheted into the plate of my friend, sitting opposite. The amount of meat retrieved was, shall I say, pitiful. I took out the tiny amount of meat from the tail and proceeded to eat, what I thought was the tomalley. How wrong was I!!!!!!!! It was the gritty stomach and the gills (dead man's fingers in the crab). The taste exploded in my mouth, like eating rotting fish and sand. I was forced to spit it all out into a napkin, very embarrassing and totally disgusting. We managed to eventually get the attention of the waiter and explained what had happened. He took it away to speak to the chef. A short wait he came back, telling me that the lobster apparently does not have gills or intestines!!!! This is what the chef had told him. I was amazed at the ignorance of the chef and staff. They pride themselves on 'fresh' produce and their menu.I was offered another lobster, I asked for a plain rump steak (poor quality meat). Although we were still charged for the surf and turf meal; a total bill of a tad under £150.00.The whole evening was poor. Having to constantly request napkins, drinks etc. from the staff. The staff, although very polite, are not professional waiters and it sadly reflects in the service. The manager, Donna Weir, showed no interest what so ever through the event. The following morning I was quite unwell, luckily it passed quickly (no pun intended).I was so upset, and concerned by the event, that I contacted Environmental Health. They took my details (and I even told them to pass them on to the manager) and visited the premises on Friday 11th September. The officer spoke to me after his visit and explained how they prepare their fresh produce:'They receive the lobsters, halved and frozen. To prepare, they wash them under cold water and then microwave them'! So they are not dressed in any way, that is not wrong as such but to any chef or most people serving lobster or crab, is unheard of. And a possible threat to anybody, should they have an adverse reaction to those inedible parts. The officer told me they would be monitoring the premises from now on. Please may I request that if anybody else has had such an experience they contact Environmental Health, as the more people who complain the more can be done. I appreciate that most people will be passing though, on holidays or business. The number to call is 01905 822799, ask for Carl Ridge.Donna Weir, the manager, will not speak to me about this. She is aware that I have called and left a message to speak to her. Sadly the lack of response, and respect from the establishment, has forced me into writing this.

Very disappointing as looking at other diners desserts this was by far the most appealing offering! As has been mentioned before drink prices are a tad high for such a modest establishment.Unfortunately the very friendly serving staff were a bit overwhelmed during this extremely busy service. It is good to see an establishment offering different promotions throughout the week.

We visited on Saturday 15 August on a groupon voucher for lobster for 2, starter and bottle of prosecco and had a very, very good meal indeed. When we arrived we were asked if we would like to sit and have a drink first which we did. We were then called to our table and the waitress took our order for starters. We both chose the camembert which was delightfully presented and tasted just as good. Then our lobster arrived with side orders of french fries, salad and coleslaw which we were not expecting. Everything was presented beautifully. We both had desserts and coffee and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were polite and friendly and the ambience of the restaurant was calm and quiet. My husband had one small gripe regarding the pint of real ale he had which was served cold. He said only lager should be served cold. We will definitely be going again however.

we got tempted by the surf and turf deal(steak and lobster) the steak was inedible, cheap cuts of meat that had texture of old shoe. sent back discreetly twice as to not bother other diners but gave up in the end and fed it to my dog. ( he seemed ok with it and would proberly reccomend we dine there again) The manager agreed steak was poor and offered us a discount which never happened. The lobster was ok although not fresh but dident expect that for the price. the starters where basic and drinks overpriced. £5 for non imported lager. £6 for cheap house vino. the waitress was nice but manager seemed stressed. She came over to us offering us the bill when we still had drinks, this made us uncomfortable so we left paying full price as it was awkward. we dine out a lot and do so to enjoy the experience not to look for things to complain about to get discounts but this was very poor. Im very fair on reviews and this is one place we will never return. We would have had better quality food at the local harvester.

We ate at the Blue Steak restaurant attached to the Blue Inn hotel last night. It's local to us and we'd never tried it before. The restaurant is very clean, it's bright and spacious too. Outside there is a lovely grassed area with seating which would be nice for a few drinks and some alfresco dining in the summer. We both ordered a starter and a main which on a Friday night entitles you to a free bottle of wine too which was great. For starters we had lamb koftas with mint yoghurt dip and the breaded Camembert with cranberry sauce. Both were nice enough, served on wooden boards with a side salad of lambs lettuce....For mains I had the fillet steak and Rachel had the Halloumi cheese and mushroom stack. The steak was small compared to other places we've been, and it was slightly under cooked for me, I ordered medium but it was nearer to medium rare. It was still a very nice piece of meat though. It was served with grilled mushroom, grilled tomatoes, a side salad and chunky chips. We also ordered a peppercorn sauce. The Halloumi and mushroom stack came with salad and skinny fries that were flavoured with rosemary and Parmesan. We also had a white wine spritzer and two pints of their craft beer.In summary we enjoyed a very pleasant meal and a good drink to wash it down....With the free bottle of wine the bill was excellent value for what we had, coming in at 46.10!There are numerous offers through the week like 'BBQ night all you can eat' for £7 a head, fish night where all fish dishes and sparkling wine are half price, and Sunday Lunch, two courses for 7.50 a head.We will certainly be giving some of those a try and would recommend a trip there to others too...

Starters: Lamb kofta - tasty, cooked perfectly with a lovely dipGarlic bread - perfect amount of garlic butter, soft and very tastyMains:Steak and Lobster - steak cooked to perfection, no fat at all (my husband always finds fat on whatever he has and he couldn't find any) and perfectly cooked lobster which was very tasty. Chips were fabulous. The food was extremely well presented especially loved the mini frying baskets with the chips in and the mini ice bucket.Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The menu was varied and competitively priced. Food was extremely well presented and it tasted as good as it looked.I would definitely recommend and we will definitely be going back.

I booked a table for 28 at this restaurant roughly 2 months before father day! I booked this as I had enjoyed a number of Sunday roasts with family here, after speaking to the manager Donna she informed me that on Father's Day the menu would be £12.99 for 3 courses and for every family of 3 one dad would eat free! So we booked in for 28 of us, on the Thursday before Father's Day I called to confirm everything was ok and was told yes all fine.On Father's Day we all turned up to be presented with a menu that said 2 courses for £12.95 and if you wanted a starter you would have to pay extra.I questioned this with a guy at the bar who told me no sorry this was the price, I told him that this was not what we was told by the manager and we actually booked it through the manager. He went into the kitchen and after leaving me standing there for 15 minutes he came back to advise me no the manager said this is the price so I asked if I could speak to her. I was then taken by a member of staff round the back of reception and asked to wait in the conference room, the manager Donna who was also the chef then came out of the kitchen with a face like thunder! She asked me what the problem was and when I told her she said well I decided to change the price and deal since you booked it, I said this is not acceptable and you have my number why haven't I been formed? She told me it was in the newspaper and on a board outside so I should have know. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. During our conversation another person came out the kitchen to ask Donna if she needed any back up, Donnas reply was no I can handle it! Again very unprofessional. She then said I will do you 2 courses for £10. Still not what we were told. I was so upset by this conversation I was physically shaking, after leaving the conference room I asked another member of staff for the owners details so I could complain at that another member of staff rushed off to get Donna who very rudely asked me what I wanted now! She told me she owned the restaurant and the hotel and there was no one above her to complain to. Another member of the party of 28 then decided to speak to her and she told him that she would prefer it if we left! This was a big deal to us a massive get together with family that had travelled from London to be there and other family that would not normally go out due to health issues. The blue steak especially the manager left us all to leave with some having to go home and cook whilst others having a macdonalds before there train left.

Went as a party of 28 for Fathers Day ( it was also my Mother-in-laws birthday ). We're told on booking two months ago that it would be £12.95 for three courses and that one dad in a party of four would eat free. Got there to find it was for two courses and that the starter would be £5.00 extra and that only three dads in our party of 28 could eat free. On complaining about the Change were told that they had changed the price and we should of read the board outside. The person who booked the table said that they could have rang her with the changes as they had her number. Then another one of our party went to see if they could sort it out and were told Bu the manageress that they weren't bothered if we stayed or went. So we went. We had grandparents with us in their seventies and eighties with medical problems. They went home stressed. Disgusting service, rude staff. Won't be going back

My friend and I went to the Blue Steak for Sunday lunch. A very good two course meal for £15. A choice of mains, including a veggie option. Plus a very nice sweet. If you can get a voucher from the Internet then it could be less than £10. Well worth it. No preparation, no cooking , no washing up and the food is very good. Service is good and staff are very pleasant.

We have been here previously for lunch which was probably 2 years ago, We were a group of six but we were not impressed by the excessively loud music blaring from the large TV screen which was uncomfortable and completely inappropriate for the occasion. Needless to say we didn't eat there.Recently, several friends said they had been to the Blue Inn for Sunday lunch and stated that it was extremely good value and excellent food. Coincidently, I received a voucher from NCrowd for a two course Sunday lunch for two with 20% off. I booked a table for four for the two course Sunday lunch for £15.98!!!!!Having said that, if the Blue Inn hadn't been recommended to be honest we wouldn't have gone even if it was free. The restaurant has been tastefully refurbished and looks the part. There's no loud music etc just relaxing background sounds. We were a group of four on this occasion. We had three starters - one soup, a pate and a fish platter. The fish platter consisted of whitebait, battered king prawns, calamari and shark pieces served with tartar sauce and a sweet chilli dip with a salad centre piece. The starters were very good but for me the fish platter was more than enough for two so beware! The main course was also very good. I had beef and asked for any fat to be cut off before being served. The meat was excellent. My wife and friends had the lamb which was also very good. It was served with roast potatoes, fresh roast parsnips, homemade yorkshire pudding and gravy. Served seperately was red cabbage and cauliflower and broccoli cheese. The sweets were also very good. I had ice honeycomb icecream and the others had chocolate brownie. The drinks were too expensive in my opinion. I think we paid £4.60 for a pint of cider. All in all would I recommend the Blue Inn? I think the answer is yes although I believe the price is due to rise. Given that a 2 course Sunday lunch is currently £5.00 a head a price increase is inevitable/Worth a try.

Me and my partner had a groupon voucher for a starter and surf & turf main.I ordered the pate to start and my partner the soup. His soup was tomato and rice.Rice?? In soup?? He thought he would try as didn't like sound of any the other starters- it looked like sick, not much taste and awful consistency.I chose the pate as I'm a huge fan of pate, but when it arrived it was a small bowl which had a hard thick yellow topping. I assumed it was butter but cut it off to get to the pate underneath and well, I wish I hadn't! It was grey and hard. I tried it, and it tasted like stale raw pork! The two bits of bread I got with it was also stale! Later came to realise the yellow stuff on top looked like lard!! Me & my partner thought it looked very old.Asked to swap to the mushrooms which they happily did, to get a small piece of (again stale) bread with about 8 tiny button mushrooms on top with a table spoon of sauce. Hmm. 2 bite starter?Main came and parter asked for medium rare steak and I asked for medium to well but more medium.Partners steak was okay- but half of it was fat! So as it was only a small 4oz steak to accompany the lobster it was about 3 small bites!Mine came out chargrilled and over cooked. Lobster arrived and was hardly any meat to get to and was given no tools to crack open claws etc. So we ended up picking at it and leaving it.I did say we were very disappointed with all the food and just had a snotty waitress half heartedly 'apologise' (like she could care less)Really awful evening, ruined our night. Will be contacting groupon to get a refund as it really was appalling.

If it would be possible to give zero or minus points we definitely would! We have chosen to eat in this "Restaurant" because we have stayed in the Blue inn Redditch hotel which is the same house. As we drove over 6h from Europe to Redditch, we did not want to search long for a place to have dinner. As we entered the Restaurant we did not feel welcomed. The young man gave us the feeling of disturbing him. We sat down in the empty Restaurant and the waiter (same guy) could not even recommend any drinks. He handed us the winelist and for the other spirits and drinks we had to read a tiny paper which was hanging up high higbeside the bar. We ordered ales and cider. The menue was handed on a piece of paper. We were waiting 20 minutes for the guy to pick up our order. That's a long time in an empty Restaurant! After picking up our orders, the waiter went directly in the kitchen. He did not come out for the next couple of minutes. It seemed like he needed to explain to the chef what he is supposed to cook as everybody from the Restaurant (him and two other waitresses) seemed to get very nerveous. The two ladies then followed him in the kitchen seeming to explain again what the chef needs to do! We felt pretty awkward as we were seeing this happening. We then received our food on time and it was on a very basic standard. After eating, the plates were picked up and there we were sitting in front of our empty glasses. Nobody asking if we would like more drinks. We literly have been ignored! It seemed like they avoid us to be served?! We absolutely did not understand this because we were just letting everything happen and we weren't complaining at all (we didn't feel about discussing after such a long day).We waited for 45mins until we could reach someone to ask fot the bill!! Yes the two only waiters were more occupied in entering the kitchen over and over and over (for longer times) than serving the guests. Maybe they've had a good chat in there because apperently as there were meanwhile only three tables occupied and they've had not muchto do.After paying (of course with leaving any tip out) we left the house with less money and less nerves.

We obtained a Amazon voucher and booked for the lamb dinner. Arrived at the restaurant, cold inside. Handed over the voucher in which the staff member read the voucher. Sat at the table and was offered 1 glass of wine instead of the bottle as per the voucher. Informed that the lamb would be about 30 minutes and would we like a starter. 30mins later we had to ask for our starter. 10 mins later starter arrived (olives and bread) the balsamic vinegar was a blob of glaze in the bottom of the pot and no plates. Finally the main meal arrived, lamb came out with veg and potatoes. on 1 plate. We started our meal. Lamb was very good. Gray was full of grease, we did not get the additional veg and sundries that were with the voucher. Again had to ask of these. in every instance the excuse was a nice chef or the chef had changed the menu. Once we had finished our meal we still had our stater dishes the menus and main meal on the table. Will not be going there again

I went here for a family meal. Although it's a steak house I expected to get a decent chicken meal. The food had clearly had little effort but in. My garlic chicken was dry and overcooked, which I'm disappointed the waitress didn't notice either. Service was mediocre at best. I could have saved the money and cooked myself a better meal. I wouldn't have minded so much if it had been busy but there was only 4 other people in the restaurant. I won't be returning.

We ate here last Friday after obtaining two different deals, each for two people, one for a Chateaubriand steak and the other a rack of lamb, we were allowed to used both deals for a table for four , something not all restaurants will allow. The food was great, the meals are to share, my friend and I had the rack of lamb and are husbands enjoyed the Chateaubriand steak; all the meat was excellent, in fact all the food was great. We didn’t have starters (we would normally, but probably eat too much over Christmas) the amount of food was the right amount for us, we certainly didn’t leave hungry, we were very tempted by the desserts they sounded delicious. The wine we had was also good and was included in the deal.We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed.

Had a groupon deal, 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and 2 coffees. It was completely empty in there and yet it took the waitress 10 mins to bring me my drink as she stood talking to the bar man. When the bell rang to say our starter was ready it took her 5 mins to go into the kitchen to get it, making our food cold, again bcus she stood chatting to the barman. Steaks came, we'd asked for rare but both had been given medium. The food was nice thou, just cold. Waitress asked if wed like sauces, we asked for mayo and ketchup, this took her 10 minutes to get and so we'd practically finished by the time she bought them over... we were still the only ppl in the restaurant! Werent given our coffee and just handed the bill without being asked if we wanted it or our free coffees. They charged us an extra 4pounds each for steak supplement, even though I had asked her before ordering if the steak was included in the voucher and she had confirmed it was! Staff were not friendly, just very passive and very disinterested in us. Wouldnt recommend.

When ordering the man never told us that the steak wasn't included in the offer, even though it was the only meal on the menu for the value of 15.95,. So we ordered fish cake, buffalo chicken wings for starter, then mixed grill and 8oz rump steak for mains. Food was pretty poor, the steak on mixed grill was poor, full of fat, couldn't be eaten. We didn't get served our coffee at end of meal and was charged more money on top of what we had already payed, for choosing steak off the menu, the manager David did not even tell us that we had to pay extra when ordering the steak, even though he was fully aware we had the group on offer!! One fish was so dry it could not be eaten. Waiter did not know if it was salmon or haddock !Had to ask if plates could be cleared and deserts ordered. This is a very strange establishment. In essence, it is the dining room/cafe of a motel between two busy roads in Redditch. However, despite the lack of ambience, both the restaurant and the lavatories are lovely and clean. We found the waitresses to be overworked but very pleasant and efficient in the circumstances. We had the sharing platter to start........this was disappointing and neither of us would recommend it, but the choice of starters is somewhat limited. Conversely, we loved the rib eye steak which was beautifully cooked, as were the accompanying chips. We wouldn't rush back, but if you do go, you won't be disappointed with the rib eye.

Seemed like a typical hotel restaurant just full of business men/ contractors staying over for the night for work purposes. There was not much choice on the menu... choice of 2 starters? The steaks we had were nice, however peppercorn sauce very salty. Good value for money with a voucher but probably wouldn't go here if didn't have a voucher.

Four of us visited for Sunday lunch recently with an Amazon voucher. The "server/waiter" was so dis-interested and not at all versed in the basics of customer service. We were left wondering how and why we had ended up here- which is just a very basic "motel cafe" as it adjoins a block of rooms .Food was basic ,limited and very average. I asked if there was tartare sauce available with my undercooked and boring fish. Answer-" maybe"! I felt sure we should have been given a glass of wine with the "offer" but was told by the manger? that nothing else comes with the Sunday lunch. Supposedly Neither tea or coffee - not that we wanted to stay any longer. The absence of "guests" tells you all you need to know.

However....My wife brought a deal on groupon, £19 for 2 staters, 2 mains house wine and coffees..I have always had trouble finding a good steak, cooked the way I like. We started with the sharing platter of Nachos, steak skewers, chicken & garlic bread which we both enjoyed..then came the steak, French blue 8oz Serloin...OMG!..every mouthful was better than the previous, I could not believe I had found the holy grail of steak, cooked exactly how I like it, full of mouthwatering perfection..I'm extremely fussy with steak...This honestly was the best I have ever eaten!the service was good, left long enough for the first course to settle but not to the point where you feel forgotten..waiter was very pleasant, attentive..All in all, when I go to a restaurant I look for quality food, don't care about anything else..I'm there to eat and I want to enjoy FOOD!.. Visited for Sunday lunch using a Groupon voucher deal. I had not known about this place before, even tho I am local to it. This voucher offered exceptional value for money and even if the food was below average, one couldn't really complain (IMO) at £8 per person for 2 courses including a drink. However the food was not below average and therefore was a really pleasant experience. Ok the food wasn't exceptional, but certainly didn't taste 'on a budget', so all of my family were impressed. Although it was quiet when we visited, the restaurant didn't feel empty and the service was attentive. It has a vibe which probably suits those younger than nearing early retirement age!Would I go back? Definitely with another voucher.... Especially for Sunday lunchThe restaurant seemed to major on its grill / steak theme and I would be tempted to give that a go midweek or Saturday night.

And frozen fried stuffing ball.At 2:30 there were 8 people here and we will not return. The worst bit was pudding, a choice of 3 so 3 of us had the cheesecake which was served with squirty cream and ice cream sauce, although nice I cannot believe we were charged £5:95 per portion!!! Unbelievable in a converted little chef. Will never never visit again, no matter how nice some of the midweek dishes are. First impressions: a canteen serving the adjacent motel- not a restaurant. Big tv dominating the room with the music channel blasting out (think Beyonce/Rihanna et al shaking their ars*s whilst you're trying to eat in a restaurant)- totally ruined the atmosphere. Only 2 servers who were very overwhelmed and inattentive. And took FOREVER to do things. Maybe it was their first day? After half an hour of waiting (even though we'd booked) we were invited to 'sit where you want.' Wanted to sit as far away as the tv as poss so had to choose an unmade, dirty table at the end of the room next to all the breakfast equipment for the following day. Menu= very underwhelming and lacking creativity. Chose the platter for two for starter and the hunters chicken for me and the rump steak for my partner. WAITED 45 MINUTES FOR THE STARTER, which in all honesty could have been made in ten minutes. Just looked (and tasted) bland, like something you'd get in a supermarket 'buffet pack.' Anyway, we ate it as we were hungry. Main meals came, again, equally unexciting with packet oven chips (not the side salad I'd been told) and peas for a side. Once again, bland and boring, worse than pub food. Along with myself, my partner even left half of his-which is not like him whatsoever. Left as soon as we could. Even though it was through an amazon voucher, the experience was very poor. Poor atmosphere, poor food, poor service. Not one person in the restaurant looked happy and actually, I heard three different tables complaining, with one customer saying the evening was a 'shambles' which sums it up entirely. Spoke to a couple who were disappointed by the experience too. My partner and I left feeling very deflated and actually, I was embarrassed to have taken him there (birthday celebration). I was told it was the first night of a new menu- how disappointing! The menu is awful! As I pointed out to the waitress (who subsequently shrugged her shoulders) we will not be returning and I urge future customers to think twice before going.

We purchased a voucher on groupon for a two course meal and a complimentary drink and we arrived at the Blue Steak Inn having travelled 25 miles to enjoy our meal this evening. The young lady who greeted us was very pleasant on arrival but we could see that she was on her own and the restaurant was busy. She informed us that sirloin steak was off the menu and if we wanted Rump it was an additional cost of £3.95 each. Strange as this is a cheaper cut if beef and why had they no Sirloin as we arrived at 7pm as they opened and booked a week in advance. We ordered the prawn starter which was very tasty but a very small portion which consisted of 5 small prawns each.My Cajun chicken main course was grossly over spiced and too hot to eat and my partners Spit roast chicken had clearly not been cooked on a spit roast! There were plenty of chip on his dinner but it was very basic.I asked for a second glass of wine but the waitress forgot and I had to ask again but it arrived as I was finishing my main course.Overall I thought the service was poor as the young lady was very busy and couldn't spend quality time offering great front of house customer service. As this offer was only £19 we would not complain at the time however the total bill would normally have cost around £40 without the Groupon voucher and I certainly would not have paid it!My partner was also told at the time of ordering his main course that it would have a side salad accompaniment but that never arrived either.Overall a 50 mile round trip we will not be repeating. As we left another customer was getting agitated by the service too.

I had a voucher for a meal which i used to take my wife, children and grandmother to a two course meal.We all enjoyed all of the meal that we had.The service was very friendly and the highlight for me was the mixed grill which i can honestly say was one of the best i have ever had in the last 30 years. We will definately return.

Booked a deal for chateaubriand meal on Groupon. Booked direct with restaurant day before but arrived & told no chateaubriand. We were offered a 3 course alternative & wine which was a great save by the manager who also gave us vouchers for our next visit. Food was very pleasant & good value for money. TV on in restaurant was a bit weird but I think it's used by hotel guests.

The food was wonderful and much better then you tend to expect especially at the price, we've had both the chefs special menu and ordered from the menu and both times it was lovely. The only less then perfect thing was when taking the mixed grill order they did forget to ask how I liked the steak done, but I could have specified - and the waiter was I believe covering during a busy event

Booked via groupon for this restaurant. This was the first time here and probably the last.3 courses for 2 people £20 Great value with groupon. We were told the groupon vouchers included any main course up to £11.95 including the rump but did not include other steaks. I didn't see the sense in this and thought it was strange as some of the other steaks were under the £11.95 limit. but they they wanted a £4 supplement if we ordered one. We just opted for 2 burgers. We had he sharer platters for starters which came with ox rump steak, Lamb kofta and onion rings. Only 1 person serving. The wait wasn't to long as we were the first people at 6.30. We wasn't asked how we wanted our steak cooked. Luckily enough we both didn't mind it medium. If your not a lover of pink with a hint of blood then almost certain to have been sending yours back!!We both ordered the burgers. One blue inn burger with extra onion rings for £1 extra and a chef burger. Both arrived looking the part, big and packed full of toppings. A plate full of chips and onion rings. If looks are deceiving then this is one time. You could tell the burgers were handmade and not cheap bought in burgers. However, whoever made these went overboard with the seasoning and put way to much pepper in not only the burger but the seasoning on the cheese, onions, chips and onion rings it was very strong and overpowered the taste of the burger. Not nice, they tasted like peppered burgers. The portion sizes were huge. For dessert we had the cheese platter and the rice pudding. No problems with the cheese platter however the rice pudding was not cooked. The rice was still hard and very watery due to not being cooked properly. It could not be eaten. When the waitress was cleaning away we told her about the problem. The waitress couldn't apologise enough and offered us something else from the menu. By now we were ready to leave so declined the offer and requested the bill. While the waitress was returning the rice pudding to the kitchen we could hear her telling the chef about the problem. Were not sure exactly what the reply was but the chef wasn't happy about us returning the food saying it wasn't cooked properly commenting on how he was the chef not us. Not the best was to respond when someone tells you the rice pudding isn't cooked, I'm thinking now I should have told him his burgers were rubbish and had way to much pepper and seasoning on them but he may had threw a right tantrum lol. When the bill finally arrived the waitress got this wrong. Instead of being charged the extra £1 for extra onion rings on the burger we were charged £1.95 for a side order of onion rings. Judging by the amount we had on the plate this was probably right and some confusion when ordering but it was still not what we had expected. So after a first visit to the Blue Inn, a restaurant basically on our door step in Redditch we have decided that we will not be going back.

We were welcomed with a smile and showed to our table. Both drinks order & food order were taken in a timely fashion. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection using quality ingredients. Our waitress was Donna who made sure we were happy throughout our visit and especially during the meal. If you like good quality food without paying restaurant prices this is certainly worth a visit. My only thought is that they could do with more vegetarian options as my wife is one and said so.
