Booked a room. Apparently they don't do rooms. The place was filthy rubbish bags overflowing. Felt grimy. Who ever the new owners are they need to sort themselves out as it's a disgrace

Woman behind bar wasn't expecting me when I arrived at 4:30pm so I had to wait for 45 minutes while my room was "being hoovered". The sign outside says food, and they don't serve any. No WiFi. Corridor smelt of drugs. Bathroom smelt of ammonia. No chair for the desk. No remote for the TV (so no TV then). Glass shelf in the bathroom dangerously hanging off. No glass for water. Shower temperature adjustment not working ("scalding") so I had to bathe in the sink. No bins (not even for sanitary towels, for example). The single "white" towel provided wasn't white, and had historic stains. Heating didn't adjust in temperature. I could go on all day!!

Tried the new chef's roast yesterday - one of the best I've had in a long time, and the bar staff was lovely and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Avoid..as one of the locals that goes in there very often (big blonde woman) is very violent & aggressive after a few drinks & whatever else she takes..Not going in there again! Shame as they've made the place nice as well. Been in a few times but can't go again due to her. 3 Stars as it's not the new owners fault, just rude customers

Stopped in for a quick pint, Birra Moretti was tasty, had some of their home made chips and they gave me a free bowl of beef chilli to go with them, service was fast, chips were nice and hot, couldn’t ask for more, it’s great what they’ve done with the place, nice chilled atmosphere.

Only stayed for a couple of drinks but they were very reasonably priced. There was a fairly good selection however i would of liked to have seen a more premium lager on tap. The juke box was free and was basically just like using spotify, the pool table was £1 per game, theres outdoor seating and a smoking area. I believe iy also accommodates overnight stays and has a food menu. Also large screen tvs available for sports viewing!!!

We arrived for a two night stay on 20/2/20. We arrived quite late for booking in (6pm) and I was surprised that they seemed surprised at our arrival. Room wasn't ready. Given 10minutes we were shown the room. Spacey room, bit tired but acceptable so decided to let the delayed entrance not affect our break. It really was just a base to sleep and we wouldn't be spending a great deal of time there apart sleep. If only I'd known that wasn't going to be happening on one of the nights I think twice about our stay. The breakfast option is indeed what has been mentioned in reviews previously. Mini fridge in room holding four slices of white bread, couple of butter sachets and small carton of milk. Some tea and coffee sachets and jam samples, two mini packets of cereals. Sufficient for one morning. No house keeping went on for our second nights stay. I have to say I was most disappointed. I'm realising I really should raise my expectations. There wasn't even a replacement of the cup we'd used. I am aware we could have asked but we didn't. As it may show I am writing this review at gone five in the morning after spending a terrific evening listening to several people killing many a hit song on the karaoke machine in the pub bar downstairs. I feel assured that anyone in the bar below was having an amazing night/morning. I however will be dealing with the fall out from that. You see as I lay here not sleeping, I not only have to tolerate many people killing some amazing songs with their failed attempts at legends such as Bon Jovi and Witney Houston. Don't give up your day jobs people! That"s if you have them. Not only that but I hear my daughter grinding her teeth. The reason for the ginding of teeth is the fact she is having a seizure. One of many I would think as tiredness is on of her triggers for her Epilepsy. So thanks to the customers using The Bluebell public house Rothwell on this Friday night cause all of you will be able to sleep through your Saturday, me and my daughter are promised a truly rubbish day of stress where many Epileptic seizures will be occurring so pat yourself on the backs people. You know who you are. I will be speaking to someone tomorrow as I made the huge mistake of paying my bill up front and will attempt to update this review with the result of this chat. Can I just suggest that maybe the manager ensure that if the room above the bar is used in the future, it be used by someone who is enjoying the entertainment?? Update to come. Not expecting to feel any better as I don't think any thing is going to make the drive home easier. Just wanted to inform the people reading these reviews that if they want to karaoke the time away in Northants, The Blue Bell is the place to be.

Stayed here for one night on the 28th December. The twin-bedded room, and ensuite shower were spotlessly clean, as were the towels and bedding. The Managers were very pleasant, friendly, polite and helpful, dealing with the fact that our booking was a complete surprise, as it hadn't shown up on their system, very quickly and calmly. In fact, the gentleman who organised the room, came to check on us later to make sure we were okay, ask if we needed anything, and brought us some bottled water. The only reason I have dropped one star, is because the breakfast was not up to standard....just tiny boxes of cereal, some 'plastic' bread to toast, and spreads. This doesn't even equate to a 'Continental Breakfast' as described. We had to go for breakfast at another pub in town. Just to add that on booking in, despite going out through the back and in another entrance, plus along winding corridors and thinking we were seperate from the main pub, it turned out we were right at the front of the building. Lol. Unfortunately, a flashing Christmas sign kept us awake. There were also rowdy groups of young people hanging around below in the street, then there was a very loud disturbance, followed by a fight at 1.30am. Just mentioned this because it may not be the best place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet and hope for a good night's sleep. However, as aforementioned, very clean, and very nice hosts.

Good old fashioned local pub for locals that welcomes everyone.

If I could give zero star I would, no atmosphere, smelt of stale cooking oil.

I went to see a band. Very small and a bit cramped, but it was a good evening, despite the TV being left on whilst the band were performing

Great place, recently under new management. The staff and locals are very friendly, there was live music when I stayed there, which was very good and I will definitely be going back. Thanks for looking after me 👍

Under new management now .Has had a good clean up and will soon be decorated .Nice old local pub dating back to the 1700s .Good selection of beers with a guest ale being added .it has a great friendly atmosphere and new landlord is opening the kitchen soon with good locally sourced food .So deserves a visit .

Friendly....bust needs money investing in it, tired and sad. The music was too loud you couldn't hear each other,and it was very clicky.

Very clean bar. Friendly staff. It has Sky Sports (the reason I visited). Pool table available (but no chalk!)
