Great food and well cooked and presented.. Thought our waiter could have been more friendly and served the table better..desert menu really thrown on table.. disappointed..

Went for a get together with a couple of very good friends for a mid-week evening meal. Were made very welcome and the meal was generally up to expectations. However one of our party was disappointed that there was no Cod only Haddock for the battered fish, (which incidentally was very good just that our friend is a bit picky). We were all surprised that there was no Scampi and Chips in a Basket but then remembered that that was the menu back in the mid 70s along with the old favourite of Chicken in a Basket (cooked I would add along with French Fries rather than chips). The portions are large and are not at the expense of sacrificing the quality or flavour. My only real complaint is that the Tarte Tatin was not quiet what I expected but the sauce and ice cream accompaniment more than compensated. We will certainly return to this venue not only to reminisce but to enjoy the food. Well done to all.

Myself and my boyfriend went for our anniversary and they were wonderful. The staff were so friendly and you could tell that they really cared about making everyone’s dining experience exceptional. The restaurant itself was very pretty with rustic country vibes. The food was so good and you get a lot for your money. The only thing I could say is that, as someone who is losing weight, it would be nice to see the calorie content on the menu, I did have to estimate. We weren’t going to order dessert but at the end of our date they brought out a mini dessert on a plate that said “Happy Anniversary”, it was very sweet.

After driving past The Blue Anchor so many times, we decided to visit for the first time to try their roast dinners. Three of us went, and we had Roast Sirloin Beef, Roast Pork Belly & The Anchor Platter which had pork, beef, turkey and ham… plus all three had Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and vegetables. My beef was delicious… and the potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. My husband enjoyed the platter and felt full beyond belief. However, both his pork and my mums was quite hard… when watching them cut it it was incredibly difficult to cut, rather than pork belly being a bit more tender. They still ate and enjoyed it, but I absolutely think they could do with perhaps not cooking it so much, and doing the crackling separately from the pork belly to ensure it remains soft and tender. We also had dessert.. which was devine! I also want to give a bit shoutout to the manager (I assume) who spent time with us talking us through the low alcohol gin my mum was having. It was a nice touch, especially on our first visit.

Staff were amazing and so was the food, honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience! Would highly recommend to anyone!

It's been a very long time since we've been for Lunch in this Pub/Restaurant, and we're very pleased we did. We were a party of 5 Adults. The selection of food was excellent, good portions, nicely presented and good value. Set menu prices were: £16.50 for 2 courses : £19.50 for 3 courses. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy access via side door.

Lovely local restaurant, pleasant staff, very organised. Opted for Sunday roast, sirloin of beef, presentation was great, thick slices of beef, beef was pink to my liking, unfortunately my mum likes her beef well done. My only small critic would be to ask a customer how they would like their beef cooked prior to serving, but all in all, a good meal.

I always forget to leave a review but have been probably 4 times in the last couple of months for various occasions. Birthday/mother's day/music night/family meal to name a few. Chris and his team are always on point. I hear they have some great wine tasting nights also. Will have to come and give it a go.

Excellent lunch here today. Would highly recommend it. Menu for a Sunday was extensive and of a high quality as were the staff.

This was our third visit to the Blue Anchor and it did not disappoint. The food was as tasty as ever and the service from the staff very good. Highly recommended

We had a really lovely 5 course meal here for Valentine’s Day last night and everything was fantastic from start to finish. The service was excellent; my partner is coeliac and they couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable, without any fuss. There weren’t a lot of dessert options for him, so the gentleman looking after us offered a massive beautiful cheese board with gluten free crackers, without any extra charge. The whole thing was excellent value for money. Lovely flavours, great sized portions and fabulous dessert offerings! They run great events and menu variations each month too like Rum and Ribs nights, Gin tastings and tasting menus, all at great value for money. Highly recommend and in our opinion it’s much better than the Trip Advisor rating portrays. We will definitely be back- thank you for a really lovely evening!

Really pleasant lunch. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. The ham hock terrine was delicious and my wife really enjoyed the vegan options. Excellent.

Our first visit; a family meal to celebrate a birthday. All staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Food was delicious; served in good time and well presented. The winter wellington was very tasty. We’re weren’t rushed to leave and are in agreement that we will return. A very smoothly run establishment! (Small print…. The kitchen door could do with a softener; the slamming noise is quite harsh).

Very disappointing less than average meal but made much worse by the disgusting smell of sewerage that wafted throughout the evening. One member of staff said sorry and there was a problem throughout the hotel and on leaving a senior member of staff said I'll look into, I can't smell it.

Had a great night with friends. We had the tasting menu which was fantastic. Although a set menu had a great variety to choose from. Staff were attentive and helpful will come here again

We did a six course taster menu using a groupon and thought it was possibly going to be tiny but it was delicious & plenty. The staff were fantastic. Good value. Staff bought out candles in dessert lovely touch thank you.

Went for dinner, chip’s completely raw barely cooked, that was grand. Out comes I assume the chef who came out with another serving , this time burnt on the outside and raw again on the inside. Chef couldn’t grasp the concept of raw when I showed him the raw chip. Rude & unprofessional.

Just had the most amazing meal at this lovely restaurants. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Lovely decor, super friendly and attentive staff and seriously good food. Thanks Chris Norden and team. Thoroughly recommend 🥰

Was quite shocked with the food quality last night ordered a prawn cocktail and it was full of shells which I didn’t realise half way through eating, the cocktail itself was just mediocre prawns covered in what tasted like chive mayonnaise, with rocket mixed in. The weirdest combination of flavours I’ve had with a classic, the main was fish and chips and it was barely edible thick wet raw soft batter chips were cold, it was terrible. Not sure if it was a junior chef maybe but I can make food a lot better myself, it was awful. I won’t be returning after that it was probably the worst meal I’ve had for years.

Really lovely venue and friendly waiting staff, although a little muddled at times. Very mediocre roast beef, roast potatoes not great. Ordered cauliflower cheese as extra, and then apart from one carrot on my plate, the only other vegetable that came out was boiled cauliflower! Would probably return as such a nice pub, just not order the roast.

Overall pleasant and value for money, although my partners chicken supreme was a little disappointing, more like a basic roast chicken. The place was busy as they had 50% off their classic menu that night, everybody worked hard but it did feel a little short staffed at times.

This place is a great little gem in feering I had the prawns to start and for a change went for a burger, I find burgers very hit and miss as they can be dry etc but this one didn’t disappoint it had flavour and wasn’t dry. This place does them nights too which I want to go to at some point, The staff was friendly and gave great service

The Blue Anchor is somewhere you can always be sure of delicious food and great service. I lunched there with a friend today - it’s our favourite spot for a catch-up - and we had a lovely time. I had the chicken supreme, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, while my friend had the fish and chips, which she said was really good. The service was perfect: our waitress was really attentive and very patient when we were so busy chatting that we hadn’t had time to look at the menu! She also noticed that we were celebrating a birthday and surprised us when bringing dessert by serving it on a decorated ‘happy birthday’ plate complete with candle.

Great stay, great breakfast. Couldn't fault anything. Brilliant breakfast, great produce. Professional staff. We will return for lunch or dinner. Purley on how good the breakfast was.

First post lockdown date night. Perfect! Lovely meal, friendly service. What more could you ask for? They looked after my wife's GF and low lactose diet really well too. We've got a table next Saturday too!

I ordered a take away of fish and chips today x 3. Very polite young man Dan on the phone took my order. A mistake was made on processing the payment and this was dealt with very professionally and a ‘sorry for the error’ was added to our fish and chip supper. I really did not expect anything as the error was put right straight away. The meal was absolutely lovely (hot and moorish!) and the extra bits went down very well! Thank you to ‘ the blue anchor’ we will be back!

Wow what an amazing restruant. Such a beautiful setting and the food was out of this world. We came for a Sunday lunch and cannot recommend it enough. Such fantastic portion sizes and the flavours where exquisite. The service was second too none and nothing was too much. Chris looked after us from start to finish and did an amazing job. Good food, great service and very clean with excellent Covid strategy, Just remember the car park is across the main road.

Always friendly with excellently cooked food. As we've eaten here quite a few times as they're taking Covid seriously, it would be nice if they changed their menu every few weeks. There is plenty of choice, but I do like to vary what I choose.

My parents and I went for Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint. They had run out of turkey so I ordered beef and asked for it to be well done. This was accommodated and we all had a lovely meal and great service. Dessert was also excellent. This place is a gem.

With the current Covid restrictions we had to change our plans from a stay in the Cotswolds to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary to something nearer home and we chose the Blue Anchor. A one night stay and dinner. We were not disappointed. We checked in and were shown our room which was lovely and had all the facilities you could wish for. We enjoyed a very nice glass of red and some snacks in the bar before enjoying our room.Dinner was fabulous the sea bass main course being the star but all courses were really nice.A continental breakfast was delivered to our room and was really great, fresh orange juice, fruit, yogurt and granola, cereal and some great pastries.All in all the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. The staff are attentive and took time to ensure we had a lovely anniversary stay.Highly recommended.

We had a voucher for the BA which expired during lockdown but they were good enough to honour it, well done troops!It was their 7th anniversary so a complimentary glass of Prosecco was on offer to all guests.We ordered pork crackling twiglets with apple sauce dip for starter as we were pre-warned that our main (see below) would be around 30 minutes in preparation. Lovely stuff.We ordered the sharing plate of chateaubriand steak with (posh) chips roasted tomato and mange tout. The missus had a garlic and chilli butter although the steak is delicious on its own. I don’t order sauces with steak but this was subtle and v nice.This main is at the upper price range but if you’re a steak fan this is for you and there’s plenty of it.To finish the better half had orange cake with a marmalade syrup with soys &coconut ice cream which she loved. Me? Irish coffee. Be aware it comes in a latte sized glass!A lovely evening, lovely staff all dancing the covid-safety dance. Highly recommended

Went for an evening meal with friends midweek taking advantage of a money off voucher. Excellent service from the moment we stepped in the door. Still has a fairly extensive menu & both of my dishes were excellent. The scallop starter was the star with every element on the plate earning its place & working well with the other components of the dish. The sea bass was also excellent with the really crispy skin worthy of comment. All of my companions enjoyed their meals as much - with the chunky chips going down well with everyone.The winelist has been somewhat shortened but a well balanced range with plenty of £20-30 bottles to choose from plus a few more top end. We enjoyed the wines we had.I've been visiting the Blue Anchor regularly over the years &, whilst I'm sure Covid has given them lots of headaches, they seem to be coping with the situation as well as anyone. It was also good to see the restaurant pretty full, & enough staff on duty to cope.

Went for a Sunday roast. Booked in advance as our first meal out since lockdown and this was one of our absolute favourite places for a Sunday lunch.Sadly, we were seated in a different area near the bar and noticed immediately the seats are worn and looking very tatty.We each ordered the roast top side of beef.When it arrived, nothing was seasoned, the roast potatoes were not home cooked, the beef was fatty and stingy, very poor quality. Veg wasn't cooked very well. Overall just really disappointed.The staff were great and took the cost off our bill, but we didnt bother with dessert and probably won't go back now.

The best restaurant we have visited since the start of Covid. The staff were all wearing masks, the tables were well spaced and were all very well cleaned between guests. The food here has always been excellent and the staff friendly. We have booked to go again with friends, as they have large tables that allow us to social distance, but still enjoy a meal with friends

If you have any worries about going out to eat following lockdown then you will have none at the Blue Anchor, Feering, their health and safety protocol puts you immediately at easeAs for the staff again five stars for attentiveness and availabilityThe Food nothing short of superb and if this is a limited menu then wow, I had for starter the fishcakes with choritzo absolutely wonderful followed by a perfectly cooked rib eye which was fantastic, my wife started with baked camembert which she loved followed by the cajun salmon again perfect.We left completely satisfied, thank you Blue Anchor we will see you soon.

Excellent service and excellent food. We came across this gem whilst out for a drive. What a find. The choice was good and the garden is beautiful .... and we had it all to ourselves. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back.

We ordered a take away afternoon tea for a Sunday in lockdown, what a treat.Lovely fresh sandwiches, delicious scones with cream and Tiptree jam and other beautiful cakes.Hopefully lockdown won't last too long but I will definitely go back to the Blue Anchor for afternoon tea.

Went here for my mother’s birthday Sunday lunch, done our research and picked the blue anchor as it was local and had good reviews was expecting something more but food was cold and tasteless the beef was tough we had to ask for more veggies as the very small bowl they first served was far too small for five of us, table staff were young and seemed inexperienced clearing plates before we had all finished, it all seemed very disjointed, I write this review to add our experience maybe we were unlucky as other reviews are good but to be honest I have had far better at a more mainstream carvery and paid less than half the price, the only other lasting memory of the place is the toilet you smell in on the way in and then on the way out, we won’t be back

Fantastic food, service and value. The staff are very attentive without being intrusive. We regularly eat here because of the consistency.

The food and the service was excellent with a large variety of wines.We didn’t have to wait around the food was delivered to the tables quickly after the orders were taken.My friend was disabled he found it a little difficult to get to the table with the various different flooring levels, he wasn’t to worried as it’s an old building with lots of character.

A beautiful restaurant with log beams and a roaring log fire with a friendly helpful team of staff, what more could one ask for? The menu for dinner was extensive with a range of mouth-watering starters, main courses and desserts. When it arrived, the food did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared.Breakfast, the next morning, didn't disappoint either. Again, a nice selection of breakfast dishes on the menu. Breakfast starts at 8am and I was in a rush, however, the breakfast staff more than accommodated my request for something fast. I chose eggs benedict and they arrived quickly, were nice and hot, freshly prepared and delicious.On both occasions, dinner and breakfast, I was a sole female diner, but did not feel uncomfortable at all.

Absolutely brilliant event nights. Enjoyed a fabulous Haggis Night with my friend last night. The food was totally amazing. Staff, as always, attentive. A group of 4 of us had the 6-course taster groupon offer for my Mum's birthday celebration lunch.It was the first time any of us had visited this restaurant and we were exceptionally pleased. The restaurant and staff were warm, welcoming and very clean.The food was delicious and fresh. The Scallops were our favourite course and are definitely recommended.The taster menu had a great selection of quality food starting with canapes and bellini, moving through the courses from soup, ham terrine, sorbet, scallops, choice of main course and a trio of desserts including cheesecake, profiterole and chocolate brownie.A choice of paired wines was available and a cheese and biscuit selection also offered but not tried this occasion. The staff were attentive, but not overly so, leaving us to enjoy our food and chatter. We couldn't have asked for more and will be looking at returning for another meal in future.

We purchased a Groupon deal to experience a Six course meal with drink on arrival.This is not the first time we have gone on a Groupon deal and some have only just met approval.Our experience at The Blue Anchor way exceeded anything we expected and we had a wonderful evening.The staff could not have been more inviting and helpful and the atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful.The actual meal every one of us enjoyed and it was a great combination of flavours.My recommendation is that if you can’t get a deal to eat there go anyhow because you won’t be disappointed.

This was our first visit for a long time, the Birthday celebration for a friend and it was really first class. There were 50 guests and the seating was on round tables for 8 people. The food was very good, I had Prawn cocktail to start followed by roast Turkey

The waitress was lovely but the soggy flat Yorkshire pudding, under cooked pigs in blankets and over cooked cauliflower cheese dish left me underwhelmed . The food was not particularly hot and had possibly been sitting under the gantry for a while. The food that came out later appeared to be better quality. To say the least not great . The pudding saved the day.
