The Blacksmiths Arms in County Durham

Pleasant and welcoming bar staff and good prices give this pub an edge over the competition. Add in spotless cleanliness and it means I'll go back. It's definitely worth the walk. In common with all Sam Smiths pubs there's a notice prohibiting use of mobile phones inside. There's no WiFi. The prohibition is enforced with common sense and humour.

Had a beautiful pint of cider in here. Worth a visit just for that.

This is a countryside/locals pub (Sam Smiths) we visited with our dog and was told that dogs are not allowed! To be honest we were flabbergasted considering it’s location and there is no food served!

Pub seems ok. Popped in on the way home from a bike race. Beer was good and priced well, toilets clean, friendly atmosphere 😄

Luv this place, the beer, the staff & the punters. Only reason there's a star missing is because there isn't a jukebox or pool table but the prices certainly make up for it. 🤗🍺

Always a nice pint here. Great atmosphere. Great landlord and landlady.

So the sun was shining and outside seating area gorgeous. Drinks ordered on app came quickly. I then ordered fish n chips which came very over cooked which was disappointing. Had to ask for tartare sauce and lemon which I had ordered. Other 2 had the pie and the pastry was tough as old boots. Waited for plates to be cleared so could pass on comments but plates were left til we has left (they knew). Disappointing as only went because if advert in local paper.

Can be a decent pub, used to get really good beer in. Hope the start getting the really good real ales in again.

The new management are so much better. They are friendly and make the effort to get to know you. Its a great atmosphere and the taddys lager is the best 😋

Proper local pub, lovely manager, good people drink here, one problem is the owner, Humphrey Smith, if you nothing of him, I advise you research him on Google, he will be in the dictators section.

This must be one of the most boring pubs I have ever been to! The barmaid couldn't look more miserable if she tried. Is it really difficult to manage a smile every now and again? Not going back there!

Been going there for years and really enjoy it! Always friendly people in there. But remember it's just a drinking pub so no food.

Go in every sunday. Wud like the manages to actually speak to the people that go in there pub. Its the worst manages this pub as had in 3yrs. All they do is work there shift and leave the building as soon as possible they are not interested in this pub at all. They taken the piss out of owners.

This is a genuine pub, with good beer and good people.

Good pub. Lovely open fire and atmosphere. Friendly. Sunday lunch excellent and good value. Best to book.
