Were looking for a couple of night's escape at half term. The owners of the Blacksmiths Arms went out of their way to make us welcome, and we would definitely recommend it for reasonable no frills accommodation. Home cooked food and superb breakfasts, in an area where overnight rooms are at a premium. Emma, Gary and (particularly) Chelsea were great hosts and had some good chats.. Pool table was enjoyed by the guys. Be warned that they close at 5.00 on Sundays, which seems common in the area.

I recently spent a lovely day at The Blacksmiths Arms halland, using their function room for a charity sewing day. Emma, Gary and Chelsea were all very helpful to our group, providing us with tea and coffee during the day and a wonderful buffet. Some of our group wasn’t sure how a pub function room could work for a sewing day, but at the end of it they all agreed it was a fab day, and we’ve booked to go back for another sewing day! Emma was very helpful with everyone’s dietary requirements, nothing was too much trouble. The function room itself is very comfortable and we are all looking forward to going back.

Was looking forward to having lunch here on my birthday - we looked online and saw the kitchen shut at 3 which was perfect for us as we were on route somewhere and this was to be a nice stop for lunch. Arrived at 2:45 to be told they stop doing food at 2:45 - no sandwiches nothing. Very disappointing. I would say, if you stop doing good at 2:45, why not say you do. Even the sandwich board says lunch served til 3pm.

Popped in for a drink whilst in the area reminiscing. Barmaid made no attempt to engage in any sort of welcoming chat to us, her customers. Managed to talk to those sat at the bar whilst serving us though. Even when I asked a question I was completely blanked! This place is not the place for welcomes!

We booked B&B for a night. When we booked the price I had been given wasn't the price we paid on arrival. We paid £99 for the smallest room possible and breakfast isn't included. A 'continental' breakfast is, but you have to pay another £5 for a full English. Not good value for money at all. And the breakfast was nothing special with the cheapest bread possible! Disappointed and would not stay again. I wrote directly to the pub to query the price and tell them of my disappointment but they didn't bother to respond.

Stayed in a local b&b which was 5 minutes walkaway Friendly welcome and lovely staff Went there 3 nights running for dinner. Food was good quality and same standard every night and good value for price.

Lovely Sunday lunch served by friendly staff. Stopped of en-route to Swansea avoiding all south east motorways so found the Blacksmiths by chance.

Lovely pub inside and out, they've had a refurb and looks amazing, Warm and cosy. Nice fire with lovely sofa chairs! Orderd a hunters chicken and coke was delicious followed by a chocolate waffle for afters.. Emma and gary are the new owners very friendly and welcoming. Had a good chat about there plans for the future and to have the function room open again and to start events, 6 bedrooms.. everything so lovely, defo be visiting again.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in East Sussex you won't go far wrong if you book up at The Blacksmith's Arms, Lewes Road, Halland, BN8 6PN Tel. 01825 840304. Emma and Gary and their daughter, Chelsea, will be very welcoming. Very good food. The ham (best I've tasted for a long time), egg and chips was delicious and very generous. The pub sits next to a roundabout so is very easy to find. There is a good car park and the room was very comfortable. Chelsea is very pleasant and jolly. There is a nice open fire and it is very cosy. I understand that they have only recently taken the pub over however you wouldn't know that as they seem very established. Asked a question to the barmaid regarding the old park attached. Got told it’s been gone for over six years (lie) been going there with the kids for years. Owner took offence about changes and genuinely thought I was having a go with the questions. instead of embracing the input from locals. All 3 people working where very rude and explained they’ll use the park across the road then come here for drink( which cracked me up even more. I think these new owners are just happy to have a roof over their head tbh. My family also had food there a few weeks ago and all where poorly for days, as nothing was cooked thoroughly. Bad atmosphere inside and also opens when it feels like it. My advice, cross the road and go to Tex mex lock stock, it’s a lot better with a park out the way for the kids and for the adults to get a bit of piece. Real shame as Halland is too small to have bad feedback, and a landlord on the defensive says it all . This place has had far too many managers, and not one knows how to adapt. Pretty comical. My advice drive straight over the roundabout and continue to a pub call the highlands. Great food/atmosphere and enough for kids. Enjoy East Sussex.

Lovely owner.shame they all picked on him on the TV. He was so laid back he never really hit back at them. It's just shows how how lovely he is

Stayed 2 nights for nearby wedding, room really comfortable and the hosts were fantastic! We mentioned we were unable to stay for breakfast on our last morning and then found 2 breakfast goody bags outside our door, which was a lovely touch

We enjoyed a couple of cold ciders here yesterday. Sat outdoors under a brolly, watching the late afternoon traffic whizz around the roundabout. What an interesting activity I tell you! Stayed here whilst attending a family party; the first room we were shown was so small that the kettle was hanging on the wall! Visitamos los brazos herreros para mothering Sunday, éramos un grupo de 4 de los 12, eran niños. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y rápidamente nos llevaron a nuestra mesa, pedidos para bebidas y alimentos y cuando llegamos no nos decepcionó, tuvimos varias comidas y todo era delicioso. El personal es amable y servicial, y hacen todo lo que pueden para que su experiencia culinaria sea memorable. Esta es la primera vez que he comido aquí pero no será la última, podemos recomendar plenamente los brazos Herreros.

No puedo creer lo mucho que he disfrutado. Yo estaba muy nerviosa como estaba alojado aquí por una semana, para asistir a una colocación cerca. Nunca he estado en un pub por mí, así que estaba esperando sentir que no quieres salir de mi habitación. Qué equivocado estaba! Encantador y acogedor ambiente creado por Viki y Steve. La comida super casera y gente muy amable. Excelente música en vivo un par de noches estaba allí. Visitamos aquí para el almuerzo después de una visita a la granja de Blackberry. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y un perro para los niños. Bonita zona de juegos para los niños. La comida era estupenda y el servicio excelente. Preciosa chimenea hizo acogedor.

Visitamos hoy como un grupo de 5 para comer el domingo. Lugar era bastante popular, pero teníamos una reserva tarde y llegamos a las 2.Cordial bienvenida y un ambiente agradable con una chimenea crepitante en un día húmedo y frío.La comida era deliciosa * *.Volveré :o)Eso es todo (Corto y dulce).

Conocimos como punto de camino, muy buena asadas a un buen precio, la cerveza era encantadora y muy amables anfitriones. Gran incendio, pero bloqueado por cama, lo que significaba que estábamos un poco fría sentado en el medio de la barra. Pero, en general, sin duda lo recomendaría y visitar de nuevo.

Hemos comido en el herreros tres veces ya que Steve y Viki asumió en octubre. Cada vez ha sido excelente, especialmente el día de Navidad, cuando nuestra familia de 9 se unieron a nosotros y la comida y la hospitalidad eran excepcionales. Esperamos volver pronto.
