We arrived at the accommodation to be greeted by a lovely welcome pack. We stayed in Raby and were impressed by the space and amenities. My brother in law was particularly fond of people watching from the living room window. A comfortable and very reasonable way to enjoy Barnard Castle and surrounding area. We also enjoyed having a drink in the bar downstairs. Very handily situated. Will definitely return and can highly recommend to anyone.

Great location, the apartment was very clean, spacious and modern. It was situated above the Black Horse pub. There was no noise issues from the pub or the surrounding area. It is situated just off the Main Street a 2 minute walk away from bars, cafes, shops etc. A welcome pack was left for us which contained milk, bread, butter and a pack of biscuits which was very thoughtful. Everything you need if you wanted to stay in or just a base to sleep. The pub was one of the cleanest we visited in Barnard Castle. A good price for a 2 night stay on a weekend.

We stayed in the brand new apartments at the back of this pub which is situated just off the Butter market end of the high street in November 2017. I cant praise them enough so warm and cosy under floor heating and all mod cons. The apartments ( I think there are 8 ) are so handy for the high street, pubs and restaurants and yet extremely quiet. You are 10 minutes walk from the river Tees and beautiful walking trails through woods, also high Force is less then 30 minutes walking . We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone

The Black Horse is very good, traditional, understated pub just off the town centre. It is a fine example of what a "local" pub should be:- unpretentious and simple decor, friendly service, good beer and friendly locals. They also have a couple of rental flats behind the pub, and we had the top floor one for a week. It was a very good apartment and provided an ideal base for exploring the splendid town of Barnard Castle and the lovely countryside surrounding it. We arranged our rental via RCI, but I've no doubt you can book direct via the pub. As we were here for a week, we were able to sample all the pubs in town and, quite simply, if I lived here - the Black Horse would be my local.

Great pub. Good to see it is still there, thirty years after we left Durham

Great place, good food and wonderful staff. Only reason I've marked it down on atmosphere is that it was a week day at noon. It's not a nightclub or an edgy restaurant, it's a lovely cafe with food solid food options and a decent coffee. Would recommend.

Sausage chips and gravy. Left a after taste of awful greasy taste. Price good, staff friendly.
