The Black Dog Inn, Dalton-in-Furness in Barrow-in-Furness

Fabulous place, rooms were beautifully presented and clean and comfortable, had a gorgeous little terrace off the room with views over the countryside. The food was exceptional. Evening meal is only burgers but I have to say they are one of the best burgers I have ever eaten, they do it well and stick to what they do well. Breakfast was amazing too. Lovely family run business and traditional county pub with real coal fires. Would definatly come back and very good value for money too. Staff were so super friendly and helpful made us really welcome. Added a nice touch when told it was my birthday stay a happy birthday banner and balloons were at at my table for breakfast was a lovely touch.

Second time we've stayed here. First time was in the rooms above the Inn and the second was at the cottage. It's a really gorgeous place and the staff seriously go above and beyond for you. We cannot recommend this place enough. Food is always delicious. Drinks are well priced. I have zero issues with The Black Dog Inn and cannot wait to revisit. We had a great Friday night burger night at The Black Dog. Superb burgers, excellent chips and a good selection of beer.

My wife and I recently decided to take our son to The South Lakes Zoo, so thought it would be a good idea to stay over. We're so happy we booked this place as we had a great experience. The room was really spacious, clean and had a small terrace with brilliant views. The staff were all really friendly and the breakfast was of a very high standard. My dairy intolerance was catered for, and this added that extra touch of service, especially with the delicious granola Berry compote. Cannot fault this place and for the very reasonable price, cannot recommend enough and will definitely be returning.

I would like to thank all the staff for making my stay. Accommodation is fantastically spotlessly clean and spacious with the added balcony 👌. Fantastic value. The pub downstairs what a friendly bunch. All were good crack. My meal on Tuesday was spot on the best burger I've had in years. With the added extra on the bar sausage Tuesday, what a result. My breakfast was out the top draw fantastic. Your selection or real ales 🍺 were great. I'm already checking online to grab some. Thanks for looking after me. I shall defo be returning 10 out of 10 folks to all staff. Mark

Stunning guest house, beautiful rooms with old beams and a really comfy bed. The food is worth a visit alone. Dinner and breakfast were superb 👌👌👌

My wife and I stayed for a night. I can honestly say the best and most welcoming place we have stayed in lovely pub stunning room. Then we come to the food I have never had a better burger it was perfect dirty fries. My wife said it was also the best burger she had had. She also had a side of Cajun coleslaw that she said was unbelievably good. Breakfast was also just fantastic. If you are in the area definitely go

Wow, this place blew me away. Every detail was perfect. The room was gorgeous, well furnished and immaculate. We ate tea, the burgers and chips were, again, perfect. You can tell this was all made fresh even down to the proper fried chips, with a wide selection of toppings and variety. In the morning we had breakfast provided downstairs, again a wide, fresh selection of good food. The special, scrambled egg, bacon and sausage on toast sounds plain but was far from it. Amazing This is a credit to the staff and owners who have done an amazing job and made us feel at home, while providing great service.

It’s a long time since I visited this pub but I will be back again soon. Very atmospheric and superb burgers.

The burgers here are amazing, we had the aloha and loaded chip! Fantastic. The staff are brilliantly friendly. It was mad busy when we got there so I'd recommend booking.

What an amazing cottage. We are family of five and it was perfect. Its so big and so well kept and fully self sufficient. Kitchen was so friendly to use. They provided with tea,sugar, coffee, three types of cornflakes, oil, salt and pepper. And it was a very sweet gesture to give a small pack 0f milk to start of. We are very happy to choose this place. Its just 40min far from all the attractions but we are not complaining at all. This place is surrounded by green pasture.

Very welcoming place, lovely staff, room is super clean, great small touches like bottle of water in the room and Nespresso coffee machine, sturdy bed, super comfy mattress, very peaceful surroundings, breakfast was unreal, the best scrambled egg I had in a while ! I wish we had time to stay longer :( definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Lake District !

Absolutely beautiful, cannot recommend enough. Stayed here for 3 nights and the rooms were amazing. Really comfy beds, lovely shower. Staff were incredible. Had the food here as well Friday night and immediately rebooked to have the food for the Saturday too.

Stayed overnight and it was awesome. Good aesthetic, good selection of drinks, the pool room and vintage jukebox are nice features. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic, great quality food, the man (night time serving on the bar) and the lady (served us breakfast) were both lovely and couldn't help you enough, looking forward to going back for a couple nights when possible.

The food was really good and the staff and service was brilliant.

Really lovely place, great village pub, with visitor areas outside, under a covering and cosy areas for people inside. Upstairs they have 3 up to date, well furnished rooms. The only think I missed was somewhere to hang my clothes up. Quiet rooms, everything you will need, friendly staff, always there to help, and a great bed for a lovely nights sleep. Hubby and I have tried a few hotels and this is by far the best nights sleep I have had, not even woken by bird song this morning. They covered my food allergies, so we had a hearty breakfast, again. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay, in, near or if you would have a short drive to get to, it's worth visiting again and again.

I had a really great stay at The Black Dog Inn. Excellent rooms, very comfortable, clean and well priced. Very covid safe. Excellent range of beers and drinks. The three course breakfast of cereal, pastries AND a full English included in the price was brilliant. Very close to the hills, and easy to get to central Lakes. Highly recommend.

Fantastic B&B on a hill above Dalton with superb rooms and very good breakfasts. Staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Cannot praise it enough. No evening meals but plenty of eating places in Ulverston a few miles away.

Such a gem! Will be recommending it to everyone. The people here are lovely, the room is perfect and we just had the best stay. The inn is lovely and cosy, so you immediately feel at home. Great value for money and the perfect position so that you’re in the middle of nowhere but still close to other amenities in the area. I’m also convinced that the mirror they have in the room makes you look skinnier, so that in itself is a reason to visit.

Fantastic country pub which has made top quality ales, craft ales and premium lager a priority. A must for those looking for a genuine real ale experience in South Cumbria. The new premium gin bar is a welcome addition. Highly recommended.
