Nicha's Thai Kitchen in Barrow-in-Furness

This is a quaint and well run restaurant. The food was SUPERB! W had Tempura Prawn starter which was light and tasty and fresh, and the Pad Thai and Pad King were both excellent and substantial. Service was great and local (LARGE) Co-op, just 3-4 mins walk down town, had a wide range of wine, beer and spirits.

I rang to book a table for dinner, as I couldn't find another way to get in touch, & was told that this restaurant is cash only (definitely worth knowing). I looked at other reviews too & realised they don't have a drinks licence either, but you can take your own (we bought some from the Co-op just up the road). Our visit started badly as, upon arrival, we were ignored by the waitress who appeared engrossed in filling out some type of form, but once seated things improved. I found the menu was just large enough &, as a vegetarian, I thought it great that you could have any dish with tofu or veg. Our food arrived quickly & it was just the best quality, but I had to ask for serviettes... I'd definitely eat here again when next in the area

Not as good, as I had hoped based on other reviews. While I don't like vegetables over cooked, some of those served to us were just simply uncooked. Flavours were good and nice atmosphere. While not a criticism, be prepared to wait for your meal.

Would recommend booking in advance and not turning up. As couldn’t get in straight away much to our suprise as it didn’t look too busy. Anyway we made our booking for 45 minutes later and popped for a local drink up the road. Which was no problem. We returned and our table awaited. And would soon find they probably don’t overbook tables as they like to maintain high standards of food service. Once the starters came out - We was in food heaven. We could tell it was all very fresh and cooked from scratch. Mains even better. Food was incredible! Tender meats fresh fish all freshly cooked. Flavours amazing. Couldn’t fault the food. Left very satisfiedand wanting to return! Wishing we didn’t live 2 Hours away !! Will definitely return when next in the area :)

We visited here on Saturday with friends. We booked in advance is it gets quite busy. Because everything is cooed from scratch and everything is fresh not frozen hence the wait but it is worth it. We ordered a variety of meals all choosing starters. The starters arrived in good time, the prawn were large and cooked in a lovey light crispy batter with a side dip of sweetchilli. Our main meals arrived a while later but it gave us some time to consume some of our own drink we brought and catch up with our friends. The restaurant doesn't have a bar only serves soft drinks so they work on bring your own and they charge a small fee per person for corkage. The meals were absolutely delishous you can choose your heat level as I am not a lover of heat my meal was just right. The food was fresh, hot and very plentiful. They clearly have a good chef who certainly knows how to cook Thai food. The staff were very accommodating and didn't make us feel rushed. The restaurant is well spaced out so you Don't feel crammed in and is nicely decorated to the Thia theme. We will most certainly be back, we all agree we had a wonderful meal.

Authentic Thai meals cooked with fresh ingredients and passion. Simple, comfortable restaurant and lovely staff. A great find while on holiday.

Initially our booking was for a party of 20 & unfortunately due to illness we had to cancel 5 . Nicha was extremely understanding and communication was excellent. The meal as always was amazing so fresh & enjoyed by all . A credit to the town & the staff were attentive & pleasant.

The first time here and it certainly won't be the last. Superb tasty food cooked with lovely fresh vegetables. Four different meals all ten out of ten. The service was top rate with the girls being very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The restaurant does not serve alcohol only soft drinks so you can take your own and there is just a £2 corkage charge per person. That I much prefere as you can take your preferred wine for less than the normally inflated wine prices. The restaurant was simply laid out with ample space between tables and it had a nice atmosphere.

We had a fantastic meal at Nichas. We’ve only ever had take aways, so decided to come in for a sit down meal and we weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious as always, and service was great too. To start we had goong choop pang tod (tempura prawn) and moo ping (pork skewers). Then for mains we shared beef pad prew wan, prawn green curry, prawn crackers and rice noodles with beansprouts. Everything was so delicious, could not fault it. We will be returning as soon as it reopens after their holiday! Definitely the best Thai food in the area.

I had a very good meal here. I had the yellow curry with sticky rice and veg on the side. All very tasty and good portions too. Waitress very friendly and welcoming. It’s a BYO so bear in mind if you want an alcoholic drink; there is an off license just up the road (branded as Premier).

A blend of what feels authentic and western Thai. Every dish is great but never not ordered the Massaman curry (slow cooked beef obs). Its not hot but really well balanced and full of flavor. The chef has a real skill.

We booked a table for four of us here on Saturday night and it was brilliant. We all thought our meals were faultless, the staff were really friendly and helpful. And the owner even gave us a tour at the end of it and told us all about the history of the building which was very interesting, we have lived in the town 32 years and we all learnt something from it! Cracking restaurant for dalton!

Drawing on a recent recommendation, we tried Nicha’s at very short notice on a mid-week evening and what a fine experience! Courteous, knowledgeable and quick service led to a very delicious meal at a ridiculously low price. Altogether, most enjoyable and very highly recommended; we will return! Only small surprise was the lack of alcohol, not a problem for us, but could be for some!

The most amazing Thai food! Thai is my favourite type of food and Nichas is definitely one of the best around here! The food is very tasty, fresh and authentic. My favourite is the Penang extra spicy I get one pretty much every week either sat in the restaurant or a takeaway and both are just as amazing! Bonus that you can also take your own alcohol when sat in which makes it perfect for a date night or a big group party! The service is always very good and all the staff are so friendly nothing is ever too much trouble for them :) Highly recommend!

Really good food, the curry was full of flavour and the sweet and sour was tasty as well. The service was very friendly and attentive. Points to improve was the setting, it was quite cold and could do with a revamp but the food really did make up for that!

As someone who has travelled extensively I can honestly say the Thai food is outstanding and fresh ingredients are an authntic experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The service and attention to detail was excellent (sadly lacking in many establishments nowadays).

Yet again a fabulous experience at this great restaurant. Food as always first class and top drawer service. Nothing too much trouble for the helpful staff. We’ll be back!!!

We had a takeaway from Nicha’s last night which was every single bit as fresh and delicious as the meal we have previously had in the restaurant itself. Far surpasses any takeaway local to us (Whitehaven) but the only down side is not being able to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere in restaurant. During our Lake District trip , staying at a hotel locally, we (2 couples) decided to visit Nicha's for dinner. We turned up without reservation, but they managed to slot us in . The food and the service was excellent and great value for the money. Highly recommended.

The food is simply amazing! So tasty and the service is super. Our table thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely go again! Pad thai is delicious with chicken or prawn, the meat in the massaman curry melts in your mouth and the yellow curry is so tasty. Customer service is above and beyond, they really try their very best. The owner/chef wanders round checking everyone is enjoying her food. 5 star rating!!!

I went with my family for a meal and it was fantastic. The service was excellent even though they were very busy and I’d definitely recommend and go back again. It should be noted that the professional complainer above was the only member of the party that left, the rest stayed and enjoyed the meal. She was just looking for trouble from the start.

A few people told us about this restaurant so we booked a table using face book. The food was extreamly good and freshly made.......The establishment is not licenced so you bring your own........Two starters and main courses only cost £42!!!!!!!! We will definitely return and can highly recommend this restaurant

Tried this place last night after a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint! I had tempura prawns to start which were the best I’ve ever had, and a prawn noodle dish for my main which was delicious. The service was excellent, the staff were extremely helpful and courteous, will definitely be returning!

Six of us went for a meal last night and what a wonderful experience. the food catered for all our tastes, from the mild to the very hot. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and will certainly be back soon.

It could be easy to miss this restaurant on Market Street. Look out for the blue awning over the door! The interior is brightly coloured with painted chairs and Thai decorations. The menu has good variation. Do try the starters - they are so delicious! The owner, Nicha, is so friendly and chirpy. This is the best place to eat in this town! Alcohol is not served but you can bring your own bottles (corkage is charged).

On holiday and for the second night in a row, partly because other places we wanted to try were fully booked, decided to go for dinner at this lovely Thai restaurant. This has got to be the best Thai restaurant I have visited in the UK. Coupled with the food the staff and owner are extremely lovely and accomodating. Any trip back to the North West, a visit here is a must visit.

Staying nearby, a quick google lead us to choose this unassuming Thai restaurant. Lovely staff, good service and the food was absolutely delicious. They don't have an alcohol licence so you bring your own for a small corkage fee. Be aware that if they ask how spicy you want your food, "medium" will still blast your head off!

Popped into this restaurant on our first night staying in Barrow in Furness after looking up local restaurants in the area and it did not disappoint. We came in with half hour until close after a long drive from London and they were more than accommodating, ensuring us that we did not need to rush even though we were still eating past close.

Food was fantastic, service and staff where all very polite and knowledgeable about the food and happy to give advice on favourite dishes. Bring your own beer. Well go again.

Can not fault this restaurant! The food is absolutely out of this world. The staff are so friendly and always happy to help with the menu. Everything I’ve tried so far over the past months they’ve been open have been beautiful. When people say oh no I don’t do Thai it’s too hot, ask they will accommodate to your taste. This isn’t my first time and it certainly won’t be my last.

Beautiful meal at nichas kitchen. We visited for my husbands birthday and he arrived to birthday banners, a bottle of fizz and a birthday card. Food was delicious. We would definitely reccomend and cant wait to go back. All of our party agreed it was the best food we'd had in a very long time. Friendly, helpful staff also

We are regular visitors using the take away service here. It is truly amazing. We are always more than impressed with the food and service. Everything is fresh and well presented. A good mix of flavour and spices. Chicken Pad Thai and Thai Green Curry with Chicken are a firm favourite. Would highly recommend.

Good to see a Thai restaurant in Dalton. All our starters were nice and fresh, particularly the Tempura Veg and chilli sauce.

Lovely food been 3 times since it opened now with different friends and each time there has been an issue first time table wasn’t ready and we had to wait even though we had booked and last twice we have waited ages for food. The food is good and it does get busy but be prepared to wait

Second time visit here, love it, the food was delicious, service was great and friendly made me feel like a home. Would certainly recommend this as a place to go.

I have been a few times to this restaurant, always a warm welcome and atmosphere. Menu choice is huge, so many different dishes to choose from. My favourite at the minute is the Massaman! It is delicious, not to spicy and with so many different flavours. The meat in all the dishes melts in your mouth. Another favourite is the chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce!

Visited for the first on Saturday night. Enjoyed a variety of starters and mains which were all unique and delicious. Service was great and felt well looked after by the maitre d. We will be back for restaurant and takeaway food.

Probably go as far as to say this is the best Thai meal I’ve ever tasted! Could not fault any of it. We shared 4 starters and 4 main dishes with rice/ noodles between the 4 of us. Disappointed that I didn’t take any photos to share but I was too busy trying all the lovely dishes...the food was amazing!! I cannot wait to go back soon. New and her staff are so welcoming, it was a great night. Thank you!!

Went with my friend for a meal mid week. it was busy for a midweek so thats good. we had 2 starters between us thai fish cakes and satay both lovely. We then had a Green thai curry and Blacl Pepper dish both where lovely tasting, spicy and hot.

So great to find such a lovely warm welcome 5 minutes from home. The restaurant is decorated in a modern style with unique furnishings. Soft drinks are available or bring your own alcoholic drinks for £2 corkage. All food we’ve tried, both restaurant and takeaway is very tasty and authentic Thai. It’s very obvious to us as visitors to Thailand and keen Thai cooks ourselves , that all food is freshly prepared and cooked to order - no mass produced pastes used here. Portion sizes are generous and heat can be adjusted to suit your taste - pet pet!!! . The chef/proprietor and her staff are kind, warm and always keen to have a chat about food and recipes. Highly recommended!!

5 of us went last night for a family occasion. The restaurant was buzzing with plenty of people booked in. Each of us ordered a starter and main so we had variety - each meal was superb and tasty!!! Can recommend this restaurant high enough!!!

Went to Nichas last night for the future Paige Howden’s birthday. Phenomenal food and service. Will be coming back for sure. The homely and heartfelt atmosphere enhances the experience, making for the perfect couples environment.

We dined here for (a late) valentines night, we ordered a Penang and a massaman with two portions of sticky rice and also the chicken satay skewers from the starters menu. We didn’t sit long despite it seeming busy, and the food was tasty and piping hot. Nice atmosphere and great service, would highly recommend.
