Food is awful for money. As someone who has been to the Caribbean 2 minutes away and this one, please go to the other one. Soca or something. This is shocking value compared to there. Cocktails are good, but only tired one, so not sure on the rest. Pretty awful 😞

Restaurant called Mbuntu. Would give 0 Stars if I could. They got orders wrong even after writing them down, they got the drinks order wrong, then we waited nearly an hour for the food, they then bring out partial parts of our food order, half our party was left with no food whilst others had their food. Food portions all over the place, some food orders were tiny portion wise whilst others over the top. I ordered a bacon & egg sandwich, it size of a small smart phone, side orders of chips so small you could count them, mains courses taste like frozen foods microwaved. Service is terrible, they even tried to charge us more than the bill was. Never ever again.

First visit to a lovely pub, but no Ales/ciders available on the pumps, except Heineken. None of the cocktails available on the pumps, or the table menu, (then why have the cocktail list on the tables). Card machine not working and when paid in cash, could not give any change, as no float in the till !! Kept waiting at the bar for drinks, barman was terrible, no idea what he is doing when he did eventually serve you. Will not be going back !!

Friendly staff and the rooms were clean and served our purpose. Shame it didn't do breakfast but a couple of local cafes do from 8:30.

Just had Sunday lunch. It was delicious. The beef melted in your mouth and served with a lovely homemade Yorkshire and fresh vegetables. Very friendly staff and great value. Highly recommended

We had a family Sunday roast here at the weekend. Was very enjoyable, and great value for money. Staff are trying hard to please customers and actually care (you don’t see that to often these days) We live local and have never used the pub in the past, but I think we will now.

My 4 Star is because I know this has only recently been taken over after a long time of having a bad reputation. We are a local family who were told of the new ownership and that they had just started doing food so opted to take the chance of a Sunday Roast. Potatoes were crispy which I find quite rare in pubs these days, the same for Yorkshire puddings. Both were great. Veg had ‘bite’ so not mushy and a fair helping of meat. Really friendly and welcoming staff which made the experience even better - you can tell when there is genuine effort to ‘get it right’ and more importantly, trying to understand what the customers want to continuously improve everything! I really don’t want too many people knowing this is a gem otherwise we won’t be able to get a table! Overall, really good, great potential and I look forward to seeing the place flourish. We will support a local independent business like this, I urge everyone to do the same. As with all places we visit, the test is the 2nd time round. I would advocate this to all. Don’t visit and have a negative time and think that’s it. The same for a positive experience. Re-visit!!

One of my favorite pub of the town, the staff is the kindest who I ever meet in my life, same about the customers who are so kind also. I recommend to everyone (family, friends, couples) A very lovely place, with pool table and darts! I really love this place! From Paris with love Arnault.

The old lady with very short hair is extremely disrespectful. The service is terrible. We are international students, not unintelligent; we understand what you say. Seriously, the two old ladies are just rude. They make you feel unwelcome. I’m quite certain this review will be deleted, but it needs to be said.

From the moment we got there the service was rubbish, we tried ordering drinks only for the bar staff to serve their friends and locals first even though we were there before most of them. After being shown to our table had to wait about half a hour to get our food order taken then seemed like an age for the food to come out. Not once did anyone ask if anyone had any food allergies! First meal out they left the chicken of the pasta then had to wait 2 minutes in between each meal to come out for the 6 of us. 2 people had lasagna which was was only warm on the outside, 3 of us had the swordfish which was covered in some kind of butter and 1 plate had 12 olives and the other 2 had 3. Asked 3 members of staff for water for the table. Had to keep asking for service as no bar staff seemed to be bothered to come check on us as they were too busy chatting to each other. There were about 6 young members of staff but no leadership as they only seemed bothered serving all the locals and youngsters which there were lots off and chatting to them all. I could carry on with complaints but there wouldn’t be enough characters!

Bill arrived at the end and they’d added on a bottle of wine that supposedly I had but definitely did not. I queried this but they refused to take it off and we had to pay. The server would have known we never had a bottle. Really dishonest and won’t be returning.

Roosters is basically a knock off Nando's with a similar meal - spicy chicken in pittas, burgers , chips , salads etc and a choice of salads. Branding is very like Nando's - food can be quite good - its not at Nando's level but its a bit cheaper although they don't have a loyalty scheme. Ordered a chicken burger and fry's and was served by an Indian chap who turned out to be the manager. Paid with a card, and the machine said approved Manager insisted that the machine , said there was an error and I had not been charged. After some arguing , and the manager being very rude and declaring that he knew how the machine worked. I paid again. Guess what a few days later I discovered I was charged twice. Called and was told to come back to shop as they count refund on the phone. Eventually gave up and came back to Roosters , where I was refunded. The arrogant manager made no attempt to apologise and was quite rude. No attempt to compensate me for lost fuel, time etc, I was also refunded in Cash , probably as the manager doesn't know how to use the credit card machine or is covering up his mistake. The food is OK , shame about the management. Next time its the real thing - Nando's for me. It works out cheaper with their loyalty scheme.

We love M&S Food Hall and shop in the Hedge End branch regularly so thought the café at West Quay would be a good place for brunch while out shopping. My partner ordered spicy Chicken in Ciabatta with chips, chicken was as rock hard and grey, chips were like match sticks and cold. I ordered an English breakfast which consisted of cold pouched eggs, one cold mushroom, 2 slices of what I can only presume was supposed to be bacon and two strange looking sausages. The tea and coffee were ok but would never go back...what a let down, food was just awful.
