Had a fantastic lunch, food was delicious. I am vegetarian and the bruschetta and pasta dish I had were really yum 😋 Students did a fantastic job making us feel really welcome I will be going again in December for Xmas lunch. I would highly recommend

After seeing their facilities during a recent open day, we thought we would try dinner. We were not disappointed and so glad we went. The tasty menu was absolutely delicious and well worth getting out of the house on a Thursday night. They catered for dairy intolerance very well. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and was lovely to see hospitality in Fife is in good hands. Well done to all.

We booked for lunch with friends and didn’t know what to expect… Wow what a special treat it was, each course was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. The service was so attentive and informative but for me the ambiance in the beautiful surroundings really done it for me.. I didn’t want to leave. Well done everyone involved in making this a high class experience, one that I can’t wait to return to.

First learned about this place as a student. Been in several times now (twice with my sister and brother in law.) Can be very busy, bookíng would advisable.

The food was excellent. Every course a surprise. It was prepared by a Kosher chef...very delicious and well presented. Excellent value for money.

Had an amazing evening, the taster menu was a perfect opportunity to try some new and different foods from normal. The chef put together an amazing menu which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The front of house staff also did a great job from taking specific requests ensuring any individual requests about the menu were noted at the start of the evening down to ensuring we always had water topped up. It was a great night and would highly recommend this.

Absolutely fabulous evening, indulging in amazing food! Lecturers and students have an extremely healthy way of working, which makes the whole experience even more special. The creativity of the menu is always outsanding. The food is delicious. An absolute delight!

My partner Ian and i, along with our good friend Cathie made a lunch booking for The Academy Restaurant, Kirkcaldy and we couldn't have imagined how nice our afternoon was going to be. The fact my food was all eaten before I even thought about taking a photo for a review says everything, I ALWAYS take photos. Below is my review: Staff, second to none. They made you feel like you were their only concern. The service we received was exceptional from the moment we arrived until we left. The extremely friendly staff and professional team in the kitchen seemed to gel, they all worked very well together. Kitchen staff can be viewed on a large screen and they definitely make a difficult job look simple. The restaurant was busy and despite this had a really nice relaxed atmosphere. To sum up, we had a first class service, in a lovely setting. Excellent food was delivered to our table with perfect timing between courses. We had a range of dishes and each of us agreed our meal was lovely. A place to return to, for sure, in fact, we have already booked a return.

We saw the reviews on TripAdvisor and we were lucky that our trip to kirkcaldy coincided with term time opening. We had the 6 course taster menu, which they made small changes to, and adapted to be lactose free. The restaurant is inside the college and feels like a restaurant rather than college kitchen. TV screens allow you to observe chef and students prep the courses. Food was very well presented and used seasonal ingredients. Highlights of menu were wild garlic and cod fillet in hazelnut crumb, cold pea and asparagus soup along with the two desserts. We would strongly recommend. At 22.50 per head it was great value. Thank you students of 2023, you made our night out good fun.

As a recently enrolled student, I went to try the Refectory when I noticed The Academy. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to give this place a try. Will be back again 🤓

It's hard to believe that this is an training facility as the quality of ingredients and the atmosphere in the restaurant area is so good. We will be back... again and again.. and again! Thank you.

We had the regular and vegetarian tasting menus and it surpassed all my expectations. Normally with a tasting menu there will be one maybe two course that I am not so keen on, not at The Academy, every course was delicious and well balanced. Service...

Hubby and I had lunch here today and it was a lovely experience...Angela (trainer?) is charming and as for wee Ryan....well I wanted to take him home...rest of staff were lovely as well...the best parsnip soup ever tasted and the rest wasn’t half bad..we will...

Great food, and unbelievable value too. Bistro is beautifully kitted out, and you can watch the chefs prepare your meal live on the big screen!

We booked The Academy for a leaving celebration for two members of our Fife College Board of Governors who had served their maximum term of office. We were served a lovely afternoon tea with a selection of sandwiches and cakes, with tea, coffee, orange juice...

Was on library pc, watching ufc embedded when i was rudely told to turn down pc volume and remove all snacks from the vicinity. There was a recital of Rabbie Burns going on in the center of the suite which put me off my video. I will not be back, on that note i wasn't even offered a pair of headphones considering I was told I needed them to continue my stay. I wont be paying for headphones, I repeat I will not be paying for headphones.

Excellent menu with vegetarian options available. Nice set up and friendly and attentive service. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Excellent value. Only drawback is that it is difficult to find information about the training restaurant and menus online but I believe this is being looked at.

Visitamos la última noche y estuve gratamente sorprendido por el alto nivel de servicio y de cocina, profesionalmente ejecutado por los estudiantes. Tuvimos una deliciosa comida de 3 platos, con extras, una botella de vino y un gin tonic, todos descarado por £43! Sin ir tan lejos como para decir que este es, de lejos, los mejores restaurante de kirkcaldy y siento algo que la ciudad carece de un restaurante decente. Bueno estudiantes y personal de ver Kirkcaldy College, volveremos! :-)

Un grupo de trabajo mates han visitado el bistro college el último par de Friday's a la hora del almuerzo. Completamente disfrutamos de nuestra comida. El pudin fue uno de los mejores que hemos probado.

Had lunch with nine friends at Fufe college restaurant. Staff were very accommodating to provide us with a table for such a large group. Food was excellent and the portions were very generous. Highly recommended!

Great choice on the menu, attentive (yet not overbearing) waiting staff and the food was absolutely delicious with generous portions. Would quite easily pay £20+ for this elsewhere in town so the price is very appealing.

This is a great place to eat it serves free soup to students from the college across the road. This is a lovely place as it is a church as well it's cheap to eat but very good food.

I dined at the Fife College Bistro at St Brycedale Campus for lunch with a group of NQ Events students. Having worked in the bistro before, I had very high hopes for the food and the service. Our server was doing service for the first time. Despite being nervous she did a very good job and was very attentive. For starters my group had tomato soup and sweet and sour chicken. Both were cooked very well and tasted delicious. My main course was a poached salmon served with a potato salad and a lemon mayonnaise. Although it didn't appeal to me, my group tried it and enjoyed. I sampled the lamb that one of my classmates and ordered, and it was simply to die for! For dessert we all had sticky toffee pudding which again was delicious. Complementary tea's and coffee's were also served.The cost of our meal was covered by the lecturers in charge of the restaurant. However a 3 course meal during lunch will only cost £6, which in my opinion is unbelievably good value for money for food that is prepared to such a high standard. All of the food is made from scratch and the majority of it is cooked to order. All of the servers and staff in the restaurant are extremely friendly. I will definitely return for another meal with family in the future.

I absolutely love this training restaurant! Always brilliant, and reasonably priced. They chef and staff serving are students. We had a 3 course lunch hubby had eggs benedict, I had soup, both great. Main I had lamb and hubby had the cod. Both had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We didn't stay for tea or coffee but could have if we wanted to. Lunch is on a Friday only so I would recommend booking. Evening meals are only 2 nights per week too. Fiona (the tutor) is always so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back. In fact I'm booked in for evening meal next week.

Visited as read all the great reviews on here. We were not disappointed. The food was superb and fantastic value for money. We each had pre starter, starter, main, desert and coffee with petit fours and had a bottle of wine and the bill was under £40. The atmosphere was lovely and the servers, granted a little nervous, were fantastic. We will definitely be back!

We were blown away by the value for money provided here. The food is well prepared and was a really nice touch to meet the young lady who designed the menu. Have been to high end restaurants that don't serve as good quality food. Our server Ryan, who was a little nervous, was very attentive and no request was too much. £12.50 for 3 courses (with pre starter and coffee with petit fours included) cannot complain!

Went for lunch today with my daughter who works in Kirkcaldy. We meet up about once a month for a meal and I'm so glad that we've found this place! The food was really good quality, well cooked and well presented, as good as you would find in many restaurants. The students & staff are to be commended on their high standards.My daughter is normally a vegetarian, which is difficult enough finding a varied menu, however for the month of January she is taking part in "Veganuary"!! Luckily the staff were very helpful in providing a suitable Vegan menu, even calling my daughter to double check that everything was OK. The main course was Roasted Vegetables, served with Cous Cous and presented in a Filo pastry bowl... Even the apple pie pastry for dessert, was made with special vegetable fats.Finally the thing that I couldn't get over was when the bill was presented at the end of the meal... £14.00 for two 3-course meals and two soft drinks! Talk about value for money :)Needless to say if we can get booked in then we will definitely be going back!

Booked a large family meal to commemorate the recent death of a loved one. Was good to have everyone together. Food is always terrific & nothing too much trouble. Fiona - the lady in charge was very good, extremely good at her job, as is Barry too. Always chatty & as I said nothing too much trouble. It's a certainty we will be back. Glad we chose here to come for a family meal. Booking a must.

What a fantastic restaurant! If you didn't know the food was prepared and served by students you would be more than happy to pay professional prices for the food! My only criticism is that it's too cheap! Wow. I didn't think i'd ever say that... I've visited lots of times and i'd recommend it to anyone to try. You'll love it.

Absolutely superb. There was about 4 choices of starters and main courses, something for everyone. I had soup to start which was delicious, then I has lamb which was excellent and very well cooked. The desserts were great as well. I like taking the kids to experience different dishes that you maybe wouldn't try elsewhere. The food is amazing and it's very good value for money.

Following a previous mix up over a booking issue,we were invited as guests to this restaurant. And what a pleasure it was. I have nothing but praise for the enthusiasm and professionalism of the young students who were our hosts for the evening. The surroundings were comfortable and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. We were looked after by a first year student called Abby who was very attentive. The menu was very impressive and the dishes we chose, scallops, turbot with black pudding and pea purée, for starters followed by a beautiful saddle of lamb with delicious asparagus wrapped in Parma ham. The chocolate fondue was a delight and my dining partner remarked that her lemon soufflé was perhaps the best ever dessert that she had tasted. The selection of wine was well matched to the dishes on offer and the final petit fours, the cherry on the top. Many thanks to Barry Scott and his entire team. We'll most definitely will be back.

I feel I have to share this experience as it was undoubtly one of the nicest dinners I have had for quite some time and have eaten in many restaurants around this area and afar. Maybe I am being biased as I once was a student there myself almost 30+ years ago studying hospitality which took me all over the country. The students were so attentive and the food faultless, which may I add reflects on their tutors and chefs. The ambience was more than good and one thing which bring people together in a large party are the round tables which makes talking much easier. For the price you pay and I would have paid more was second to none.

Excellent service from front of house and excellent menu choice,for a training restaurant the meals Were well prepared and well above my expectation of a training restaurant.This training restaurant was well manage and organised by members of staff, who obviously take pride in their catering skills. This is also a credit to the college for the stardards displayed in all areas. Well done and keep up the good work.

We had planned to eat here weeks ago only to arrive and find that our booking had disappeared. Sadly the reputation of this venue had gone before it and I was so disappointed not to have an opportunity to sample the cuisine. However I can not comment further on this restaurant experience other than to say more care must be taken over how bookings are made. I look forward to actually eating at this restaurant in the near future!

I would highly recommend this, both the Kirkcaldy and the Glenrothes training restaurants. We have been coming for a few years. Have never had a bad meal yet. We have been for both lunch and dinner. It is only open certain days, and you do need to book. It really is a great experience. I love the food, sometimes it gives you the opportunity to try things that you may not have elsewhere. Like I said it is a training restaurant, the waiters/waitresses are hospitality student, and the chefs are students aswell. You should definitely try it.

I have been for both business and pleasure and have had lunch and dinner in Kirkcaldy and dinner in Glenrothes and have never been disappointed. Friends are always pleasantly surprised on their first visit and none have said they wouldn't return. The quality and presentation of the food is as good if not better than a non training establishment.

Have been here a few times now and the value measured against quality of provision and standard of food is excellent. It is a training restaurant but you would only know as the restaurant is located in college. The menu is sometimes restricted and the venues are only open on certain days. I would recommend this to anyone.

A large group of us had a fantastic evening here. The choice was restricted as it is a training restaurant but the high quality of the food and the excellent service certainly compensated for this. A great atmosphere and clearly very popular. There was not an empty table. The students front of house were obviously well trained and their attention to detail was exemplary. A week ago a group of lecturers from 5 different countries of Europe in the frame of a Leonardo Project, were invited to have dinner in the Bistro of Adam Smith College, and I want to tell you that we had a great time there. The students who served us were very polite and professionals and they really did a good job serving all of us at the same time and dealing with all our request with a smile.About the meal, it was simply DELICIOUS. A mixture of flavours in a very nice presentation dish made our dinner very enjoyable. In Spain we are famous for our chefs and good restaurants, and the dinner we spent in the Bistro reminded me to recents stays in spanish restaurants for it food qualilty and service.Thank you for it and congratulations!!

Tijdens een werk-conferentie heb ik in de Bistro gegeten. Het restaurant wordt gerund door studenten. Zowel het koken als de bediening wordt door hen onder supervisie van een docent gedaan. Ik heb die avond erg lekker gegeten. En het is leuk door studenten te worden bediend!

I have now eaten at the Bistro at Stenton many, many times and am delighted to share that it is one of my best kept secrets. Obviously it is unlike most restaurants around as it is purely serviced by the students in their quest to learn the skills. If your prepared to put up with the short window they give for lunch (12:15-around 2’ish) then like me you’ll be back. The lecturers have minimal contact in the restaurant and facilitate the service, I prefer the lunches as although the menu is restricted it’s honest food, great value for money and its real beginner students who serve. The evening service is second to non for food and I believe it’s the more advanced student who prepare these meals. One word of warning you do need to book a table as walk-ins aren’t always possible and be on time as unlike traditional restaurants the students classes dictate the lunch opening times.
