We love going this place, food is amazing and would recommend to other people.

Service was absolutely wonderful , even with a difficult customer .meals are enormous and not too expensive. Special thanks to Katie for her patience , she was extremely friendly and is a asset to the big smoke

Had these things they called Nacho's. Weren't like any nachos I'd ever had. My pizza was £12 and was like it was straight from Tesco's. Ate here previously but seems to be getting worse.

Just been for my birthday, absolutely fantastic. Best burger I've had in years, beauty & the beef. Hot, tasty, well cooked & the loaded fries are for winners. Very busy but the staff were still attentive & kept on top of things. Will be returning soon.

Went Sunday last 27/10 for my birthday. The free rump valued at £18 was traded up for the Ultimate Grill normal price £47. I got it for £28 and what a feast. The highlight was the 14oz pork chop, sensational, followed by the 10oz rump, also came with a chicken fillet, king prawns, bowl of brisket, chicken wings, ribs, potato wedges coleslaw and the biggest onions rings I've ever seen. I didn't eat it all but took the rest home. Absolutely fantastic meal and super friendly staff and service. If I could offer one suggestion I would have preferred the brisket in slices. Loved the meal.

Excellent service. Very accommodating. Ordered very well done steak had to send it back 3 times as it was to undercooked. The chef should listen to customers' requests on the 1st occasion once the orders placed

After recommendations from family and friends, we eventually visited this place for our daughters 10th birthday. House beer and larger are very good, I tried both and enjoyed them. We had starters of mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and Garlic prawns, these starters were on point and went down well within our group of 2 adults and 2 kids. For mains we ordered 3 rack of ribs and a burger. The burger was really good and our oldest daughter loved it. All of the ribs were very dry inside and inedible, we pointed this out to the house staff who looked dumbfounded and insulted that we could say the ribs were dry. The manageress came out and offered me some buffalo sauce to compensate for the dry meat. On top of one of the ribs was a full layer of fat around 1 inch deep, which can only be described as swallowing a slug. The ribs didn't look like your typical ribs but instead just a slab of meat. Most of ribs were wasted and we wasn't offered a replacement meal or a refund of inedible food. I really hope this was a one-off because as meat-loving family we were so looking to visit this place.

Really delicious food and great service. Only complaint was that without the Halloween decorations, the place would be a bit bland looking.

We couldn't fault our meal and the service was brilliant! We are visiting from Ireland, amd were made feel so welcome. The manager was a lovely lady and is a credit to the business. We will be back if we ever visit Rotherham again 🙂

Lovely staff & atmosphere. We loved our starters but the mains were a let down. Dry & over done meat - would try again maybe a Sunday lunch but was definitely disappointed over all.

Can’t follow simple instructions how to cook a steak, surely the reason you go to a place like this!

Second time here with friends and it never disappoints. A bit more expensive than your average restaurant but then it's no average restaurant!! Service was a little slow but it was a busy night, our server was attentive and welcoming. The food was exceptional, cooked perfectly and huge portions...we even brought half of it home! Definitely a must visit, booking is recommended!

Asked for medium rare steak and got well done,brisket was barely warm,ribs where over cooked,forgot my coleslaw,chips were beautiful and hot.my daughter sent hers back after a few mouthfuls,I pushed through with mine until i couldn't.Ordered 2 coca colas and was both flat,staff replaced them but was exactly same.i decided on getting a dilute orange which was like water.wasnt asked to pay for my daughters and they gave me a 50% discount on mine.Staff were all lovely and very polite and happy to help.we used to have 1 in doncaster and was more than happy with the food each time we went.wont be travelling there again....disappointing!

Food lovely staff below average took 2.5 hours to get in and out due to how slow the staff was which is a shame as the food is nice. Waiter dropped our burger and mentioned giving a discount which never happens either. Lost out on more money as we was going to have pudding and more drinks but chose not to due to how slow the service was. Sorry. Never again. Go elsewhere

We decided to stop by The Big Smoke for lunch while out and called ahead to reserve a table. The staff were very accommodating, telling us we could arrive in 45 minutes, and upon arrival, they had already prepared a baby high chair, which was a thoughtful touch. The service was friendly and attentive throughout, with the team recommending the day’s specials and checking in on us regularly. Drinks arrived promptly within 5 minutes, though the mains took a little longer, it was nothing too concerning. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and would definitely visit again!

This was my second visit to the big smoke and sadly not as good as my first. we just about found a car parking spot the car park is small and as we are not from the local area we travel in for this we don't know the area well enough to find parking else where. We where given a table and its was cold due to the rear door. after 5mins some one came over to take our drinks order which then took another 20mins to arrive. We ordered our food and after 60mins it arrived after been told that one of the items we ordered was from the lunch time menu and we could not have this even tho we had not ordered this item we then had to inform the waitress of what the order was and then a few minuets later the food arrived with the item that we did not order and was told we could not have. they quickly took this item back and fetched out the correct one. The Food was nice lots of it and tasty the burnt ends could have done with a bit more gravy.

Just been to big smoke for the my sons 18th me and my husband had the steak and the so called chips what h get with them was horrible h need 2 have normal chips and we cud not not have the bill in 3 separate bills

Honestly, I don’t usually leave reviews for restaurants but I felt I had to here. We visited (although I won’t lie, some of the negative reviews didn’t fill me with hope!) but we ordered the platter and it was INSANE! In particular, the wings were absolutely delicious. We would definitely return and had a really lovely meal!

If you're planning a visit, then don't. Food is just regular pub food and the place was empty when we went. Lovely service staff but awful management. Manager was rude when I asked for a refund for my food as it was disgusting and I could t eat it. When I mentioned my problems with the food I was confronted by a very rude elderly lady (manager) who basically dismissed my comments and very reluctant to refund. Food is very average pub/burger van type food. Wouldn't recommend.

Went for Sunday lunch, booked in advance, turned up to be told there was none left. Poor service, could have been told prior but weren't even told until we asked when sat at the table.

I took a solo visit a couple of weeks ago to try out the food before booking for a family birthday meal. The food and service was excellent, needless to say I went ahead to book for the family birthday meal and am very much looking forward to sampling something else from the menu. (I had the beef brisket sunday lunch)

Absolutely lovely food, and great service

I've been to The Big Smoke previously and enjoyed their burgers. We booked to return for our anniversary meal after receiving numerous emails advertising their new pizza range, which I wanted to try. Very disappointed to find that they weren't serving pizzas on the day we went, as there is no information on the emails/website/socials that pizzas are day specific menu items. Decided to try the ribs instead but didn't enjoy them. Looked great, but I found them a little dry and chewy. Plus not a fan of the huge chunky homemade "chips" served with it, they are more like roast potatoes and some were hard in the middle.

Sunday lunch. Huge portion and best gravy I've tasted for a long while.

Well, we got truly stuffed! All 3 of us, Burger, Ribs & Chicken for me. Tasty, hot & satisfying, great desserts too. Service was grand too, many thanx to Chris & the young lady who looked after us..

Been today for the new Sunday lunch. Look lovely when arrived but unfortunately the whole dinner was ruined by the gravy which was really salty. Couldn’t eat it. Very disappointing

Dine in tonight in 3, with a reservation for 19.00. Ordered the ultimate grill platter, mac and cheese and peppercorn sauce. The food was disgusting...we asked for medium rare steak and it came well done, the mac and cheese sauce was separated and all the oil on the surface, the chicken breast was dry as a boot, the wings were covered in that much sauce and the chips and onion ring were bathed in the oil. The only good thing was the pork rib. All the food end up in a container so at least our dog will eat it after we paid £47.50. Ordered a coke zero which was tasteless, probably the syrup from the gun was finished. We paid at the bar and left but the worst part of the night was when we were getting in the car, the waitress came and acussed us of not paying the bill in front of other people.I had never felt so humiliated in my life. My partner went inside and showed her the bill and she said OK. Overall the whole experience was disgusting. Stay away from this place if you don't want to feel worst then thief's.

Starter's we're very nice . My philley steak was like rubber. Travelled 40 miles to try this . Would I recommend . Absolutely not

I went here recently with a party of 12. All service was handled excellently, despite the size of the party. If you’re looking for a big plate of meat, this is the place.

Eaten here a few times for evening meal but this visit was for the newly advertised Breakfast menu. Lovely service and really nice, clean food. Not greasy. I will visit again.

We’ve been talking about going to the Big Smoke for quite a while now and ended up going for the first time tonight. The service was fast and the food drinks were brought to the table without an endless wait, great! The food, however, did not live up to expectations. My son ordered a child’s pizza (on the menu a child’s pizza is described as “margherita or pepperoni just a tad smaller”) expecting a pizza similar to one my partner had ordered just a bit smaller, it was tiny (reminded me of a little microwave pizza), my daughter had chicken strips which she said had no flavour. My partner reluctantly ordered an American Dream pizza (initially put off by the blue cheese and garlic sauce) but really enjoyed it. I couldn’t decide what to have so chose the Big Smoke sharer to have as a main (I’d always wanted to try frickles and these were on it). The kids had my mozzarella sticks which they said were nice. The beef brisket in gravy was nice (apart from the thick gloopy bits of gravy), the chicken wings were okay - not much flavour. I didn’t eat the nachos (we’d had some already as a starter) but the frickles were swimming in grease. Not in a nice light batter like I was expecting, a heavy greasy, overcooked batter that had soaked up every ounce of oil it was cooked in. It’s now over 3 hours since we left and I feel sick 🤢 as a dog (our dog, btw, was quite happy with the kids pizza that my son didn’t eat and the flavourless chicken that my daughter left)

Not really my type of food... for the price I paid for my meal I know I would of got better at Sabirs or even Nandos... I only eat the chicken dish and felt the chicken was abit bland. Came with huge chips but tasted really oily and had to cover it with salt to get any enjoyment. Paid £13.50 for my meal and could of got a lot better from Sabirs for that price. But obviously this is a different type of venue, but felt I got less enjoyment than I would at a takeaway. Others got a the Sunday dinner and they seemed to enjoy it But it not really a place for me ..

We were there on my daughter's birthday.The whole family of eight including my 2 grandchildren.The food was delicious,well prepared and presented..We all enjoyed it .The staff was so helpful,they even put our birthday cake in their fridge since it was a very hot day..We will definitely go back .Thank you so much for a great service and lovely food.

Great place, took advantage of the Tuesday night burgers 2 for 1, great taste could not fault

Been as a family of 3 at 5pm on a Thursday. Excellent service with outstanding food. Price was very reasonable considering what we ordered. Will definitely go again.

Visited for Sunday Lunch. Had the adults Beef brisket sandwich with roast potatoes and children's carvery. The meals were delicious! Will certainly be going back.

Food was good and serive was amazing, but it was very very empty. Great gor me and the kids, but some people like a busy place.

Tried it when it first open and it was good but the next two times we went after that, gristle in the burgers thought it was a one off so did try again and same again

Standed pub food at premium prices, rip off

We have just arrived home after an early Father's Day meal at The Big Smoke. If anyone is planning a visit there, don't bother and save your money. The service was terrible and slow, and the food was tasteless. After arriving, we were seated quickly and asked if we would like to order a drink, we said yes, ordered, and had to wait about 15 minutes before the drinks finally arrived, bearing in mind it wasn't very busy. We waited about another 20 minutes before anyone came to take our food order and then about 50 minutes before it arrived. Even then, they got one order completely wrong and had to go and remake it. I ordered the Ultimate Grill to share with my son. It looked amazing when it came, but the brisket and the rump steak had no flavour whatsoever. The steak was gnarly, and half of if was inedible. The homemade chips were actually potato wedges, that were so soft, they were disgusting. The ribs were mainly bone with hardly any meat on them. The onion rings had no onion in them, and the coleslaw was served in what I can only describe as a thimble, this was supposed to be a sharer mean. The pork tasted ok, and my daughter said her burger was nice, but for £115 I won't be returning.

Been twice now will never go again had to wait 1hour for mains just so you order more drinks cocktails were separating and the managers reply was awful they were also overheard saying we were awkward customers not the case ( back to Miller and Carters ) my advice DONT GO !!!

Not as good as the last time we came unfortunately. Strongly advise against the brisket bon bons we were so excited to try very mushy and just didn't work unfortunately. The ribs were great but the fried chicken to accompany them was just a deep fried chicken breast fillet not battered or anything not what I expected. Long wait between starter and main courses too which meant we were fuller quicker when the mains finally arrived!

Food is fantastic, service excellent and great atmosphere. only Grumble, the eat free on your birthday, only applies to tables of 4 and above.

7 of us tonight everyone was extremely full and happy with our meals, service was excellent couldn’t recommend enough. Lisa manager can’t do enough! Cake fetched out when asked nothing too much

Always wanted to try this restaurant but for various reasons never been able to come until today. Had a lovely meal but difficult to decide what to have as everything looked great, in the end I ordered the big smoke mixed grill, although expensive at £33, it had lots of different meats that I wanted to try. Wasn’t disappointed when it arrived, although sadly it did beat me and I couldn’t finish it all. Staff were really nice and attentive. Hopefully will be able to come back again sometime and try something different.

Food was very average for what you paid and service was very slow. Had to wait 15 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink and then it took an hour for food to come. I won’t be in a rush to come back.

Just had a lovely birthday meal here. Food was spot on, large portions, and the service was excellent.

Booked a family meal for Saturday afternoon and it was awful! Not enough staff to cater for the customers, took over 30 mins for staff to come and take our drinks and then longer to actually place our order. Training new staff up on a Saturday probably isn’t the best idea! Then only half of us got our starters. Had to chase staff to get another drink. Errors on the new menu stating certain food don’t have dairy in but then to be told they do, so if you have allergies make sure you double check! Food absolutely rubbish! Came here a few years ago and loved it but I’ll never again go here. Food served with huge potato wedges that weren’t cooked, some items cold, burger bun rock solid couldn’t even cut through it! Would not recommend

Lovely family meal out, burger and ribs was cooked well and great portion size, fantastic service from Natalie, would recommend. The house larger also worth a try.

We ordered buffalo wing, good size portion between us, lovely sauce drizzled over. We then had the tomahawk sharing steak. Wow, we asked for medium rare and it was cooked to perfection, with huge potato wedges mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, grilled green beans with just the right amount of bite and home made onion rings with three little pots of sauce. We were served by a delightful waitress Pearl who was attentive and very pleasant. If you like a good steak, make your way to this steakhouse

looked better than it tasted came for a birthday meal and being just two of us we were excluded for the free meal offer which was ok as we were ordering food excluded from that offer anyway my ribs were cooked nice but came with plain baked beans not buffalo as stated on menu and the corn on the cob was very soggy and smelt like wet dog, my husband asked for medium fillet steak and it came very well done and for over £30 it was expensive,onion rings were like donuts and the batter was very heavy,i would have said something but we were at the very back and didnt see anyone untill we had finished our meal we came a few years back shortly after it opened and had similar issues but thought it was because it was a new and had a few teething issues so thought we would give it a second chance however it was still very average we paid for 4 drinks and two mains and cost over £83 it had a quantity over quality feel so get the feeling if you like a big plateful of mediocre food you would love this place

Part of food was burnt and the rest was bland I couldn't eat it my husband said his burger was nice but rest was bland onion rings dripping in oil we left disappointed got home and was ill we will not be returning! The staff was very polite may I add and gave us % off our food to apologise.

We came here at valentines, and after seeing the pictures and reviews we were really looking forward to it. But I’m the end everything we had was either not very good or lacked flavour etc. When we came in there wasn’t many people at all so I’d understand more if it was rammed up when we ordered but it wasn’t at the time. It came out looking and smelling great but we left very disappointed.

The taste can be improved, I wasn't blown away like I thought i would. Specify what people are paying for. Imagine charging 2 pounds 50 for a tiny jug of dirty cheese without you knowing. The service was great though.

Small car park. Really dirty under the table with chips, salad etc and stood too long waiting for it to be cleaned. Food just okay, not as good as expected. Staff asked us every 5 mins if needed more drinks. Tbh was glad to leave.

Eleanor was amazing at the front desk! She provides the ultimate ultimate customer service, is so friendly, knowledgeable about all the products and is such a joy to interact with. Give this woman a raise

Went in for a small brunch. The two dishes we chose ( the bon bons and shrimps on bread and a side of sweet potatoe fries) was more than we could manage. Due to circumstances we had a (small) dinner later on: shared nachos and a side salad - which both dishes were ver, very good. Friendly staff, although we were just before kitchen closing time, it wasn't a oroblem at all.

Food was okay but the chicken wasn’t cooked! I complained and was told by 2 different staff members that the chef says it was cooked and it was just a vein. So why have we been up all night with food poisoning!!! We only ate one wing each and saw the blood and pink chicken. Will never go back!

Excellent food and excellent service, the staff were very friendly and efficient. I got my main course free because it was my birthday which was good! Big portions and reasonable prices, will definitely dine there again!

We went for a family meal and were blown away by the experience. Fantastic welcoming staff greeted us, loads of choice on the menu and the quality of the food was amazing. The sharer board was 10/10. Definitely recommend and will be back!!!

Came here, wasn't great food was very expensive for what you got. Not overly hot. Best part was son got BBQ ribs which from look was nice , allot of fat around the edge. Burgers nothing special.

It was fairly quiet, really enjoyed the food and drinks, cocktails are lovely... Fairly priced would definitely return.

It Was our first time at The Big Smoke. I took my husband for his birthday an it was absolutely awesome! We had a very pleasant an very helpful waitress!! The food tasted so fresh & delicious!! We'll definitely be back!!! It's now our place of choice even if its just for a starter an a drink!!

Stake was overcooked wedges was burnt giant onion rings was soggy all round bad tbone stake staff was so nice I didn’t want to complain but £40 for it I would have felt better if they kicked me in the balls

I would like to start with, it was a positive experience...and I gave a 3 for the food and overall, as I really want to see this place getting better. My only concern was the beef patty (I ordered a Full House with two patties)..it was like a compacted meat paste...not what I was expecting from a place with this reputation. It did not taste bad, nor was it overcooked ...it was just not the right texture....or not what I was expecting. I am still going to go back to try the ribs to give the place a 2nd chance. The atmosphere was good, the service was excellent.
