We had booked the Berlin Blue Door Supper Club for my friend's hen and it was such a lovely experience!! Mark and Johanna were fabulous and the food was absolutely delicious 😍😍 They catered for various dietary requirements as well. We wish you guys could move to London so we could book this more often! I would 10000% reccomend this to anyone!

Mark and Johanna are great hosts. Mark’s food is beautifully presented and it keeps coming, you will definitely not go home hungry! Go with an open mind, as you won’t know who you will be dining with, but we’ve always found something to chat about with the other guests. It’s more of an experience than a meal in a restaurant. Mark takes his sourcing of ingredients really seriously and you can enjoy his artwork whilst you eat. It was so good that we’ve already been twice and are booked to go back again in March 2020.

We found The Berlin Blue Door through TripAdvisor as we looked for a genuine Japanese food experience in the Nottingham area. Just amazing!! A truly delicious meal, great company and the hosts were wonderful. If you can get a seat this is one not to be missed!!

I was lucky enough to get a seat at the first Berlin blue door supper club. I was a bit nervous as I wasn’t sure what to expect and being a single guest I was unsure how it would work. I shouldn’t have worried. I was introduced to all the other diners when I arrived and was given a very warm welcome. Before the tasting menu began there was a chance to practice my Japanese calligraphy. Which was a brilliant touch and a great ice breaker. Then the food arrived. All I can say is wow. The best Japanese food I’ve ever tasted. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. You must try this place. You won’t be disappointed. My personal favourite was the cherry cola chashu. The flavour and presentation of all the dishes was exquisite. I went to the Wagu experience, but will definitely be booking onto the rarman night as soon as can. Thank you for not only great food but also a great experience.

I really can not recommend this place enough. A small supper club (6 settings) in Beeston where the food is fantastic, the hosts are wonderful and you can take along your own drinks. You can also upload your own music to their Spotify account allowing you to listen to your own background tunes. This eatery is based in the living room of a house that is 5 minute walk from Beeston Train Station and a 10 minute walk from Beeston Bus Station. I understand you may have concerns around the thoughts of a restaurant in a living room. I’d urge you to overcome these as you will be in for a real treat. We were welcomed at the door by Johanna. Her husband Mark was busy in the kitchen but also welcomed us warmly. Mark is the chef and his wife Johanna is your hostess and also prepares some of the evenings dishes. We arrived at 7 and spent time getting to know the other guests over a few glasses of wine and some beautiful nibbles (Lotus Root Chips and Tonpi, beautifully spiced Okinawa pork scratching) before our main meal began. Our evening consisted of 10 courses. Each was beautifully served while the ingredients and cooking methods were explained to us by Mark and Johanna. My highlights were the White Miso Soup, the Cherry Cola Chashu (pork) and the highlight of the evening, the Wagyu Ribeye which was simply exquisite. Early in the evening we were taught how to write our name in Japanese. We then competed to see who had the most authentic style. We had a live link to a judge in Japan and the winner was decided. I’m happy to say I was victorious and am now the proud owner of a pair of fantastic Star Wars light sabre style chopsticks. A brilliant prize and a wonderful ice breaker for us all. A fabulous time was had by all of us. The food was incredible and we were truly transported to Japan with our culinary feast. I would urge anyone to give this place a go. Bookings are limited and you may have to wait to get in but boy is it worth it. My wife and I can’t wait to return.

My friends were surprised to see the level and the quality of the service. Amazing foods and really recommend without hesitation this restaurant. It’s the finest African restaurant in Nottingham.
